[Q] Google calender won't sync - Windows Phone 8x by HTC

My college (UCD) give us out a customised gmail account with our timetable, email and all on it. I had it synced with my old GS2 grand.
But now when i add the account to my phone it wont show up on my calendar even though it says it is synced. BTW my normal google account syncs fine.
Any suggestions? Thanks

Maybe because it's a shared calendar. So events are not created with your "customized gmail account", but with your college's and those events are shared with you. To sync every calendar, follow these steps. It works for me well.

another gmail Q
i keep getting duplicates of each email i recieve. in my phone under "settings", "email+accounts" i have my google gmail acount set up, i also signed in to my microsoft account to download the apps and get my avatar from xbox on the phone. the username for my microsoft account is my gmail. could this be the problem? any help is appreciated, thanx:fingers-crossed:

Google has removed calendar sync via ActuveSync.

Check out this post on the Outlook blog about using Outlook.com to check/send your Gmail account. This will let you use your existing email on your Windows Phone by adding only your Microsoft account to your phone, and you don't have to change your email address or anything. Also, I use my gmail address as my Microsoft account login, and it is fine. Your MS Account login can be any email you want.

Next, this post on wpcentral explains how to import those gmail calendars into your Microsoft account via Outlook.com. Hopefully it will help you.

keeping Gmail and Outlook (Exchange) synced up?

Hello all,
Does anyone know of a way that would allow me to use an Exchange account and keep it synced up to my Gmail account?
By that I mean messages marked as read/deleted would replicate to both?
I pay for an Exchange account but really just use it for my calander and contacts as I primarily use Gmail (imap) on my Tilt. I've got it set to check for messages every 10 minutes but would prefer to use my Exchange account if I could get it to sync up with Gmail.
Thanks
David

Froyo Calendar/Accounts Functionality

This is probably a dumb question, but is there any possibility to give Eclair the ability to sync multiple Google Apps calendars? It is limited to calendars from only 1 Google Apps account, but from what I've read, that limitation was addressed in Froyo.
Thanks in advance.
Try sharing your Google calendars with your master account and give it full permissions.
Yeah, I know that there are some workarounds (like that one), but the non-main account is my business account and the calendar isn't shareable with accounts outside the company.
Edit: Thank you, though, for the response!
The one "workaround" I have in place is that I setup an "Email" account with my google credentials using m.google.com as the server, then set it to never push mail, just sync my calendar, it's a google apps account and it works.
Sorry if I am being dense, can you elaborate/clarify?
If I add any other account to the Accounts area of Settings via the Google option, it will not provide me with the ability to sync a calendar (because my primary is a Google Apps account). If I add my account via the Corporate option, it allows creation of the account, but the calendar doesn't show up in the Calendar app.
I use the Corporate email setting, using "username"@********.***, you can just as easily use a gmail address [email protected] as an example, once the settings appear for the domain\username, wipe out what's automatically placed there and instead enter [email protected] or whatever your FULL gmail/google apps email address you wish to use, enter your password and then for the Exchange Server enter m.google.com also make sure Use SSL is enabled. Once completed I uncheck syncing of contacts as I already have the same account set up in the GMail app, I set it ti NEVER push mail, no notifications, and to sync calendar, the span amount shouldn't matter. I have had no problem getting it to show up in my list of calendars and to sync accordingly.
That's great, it works! Sadly it doesn't bring in all of your calendars, just the "primary" calendar for that account... but that is a huge improvement over the normal situation.
Thanks a lot for that tip, really appreciated.

I believe so, when I choose to add an event, the calendar app prompt me to add exchange account.

[Q] An app or way to sync contacts, email, and other stuff without google?

As a lawyer, I need to be able to sync my phone to and fro with confidentiality for my clients. I was able to do this before with my palm treo(legacy device), but now that I have made the leap into the new smartphone age I realized that androids sync with google on pretty much everything so I was wondering if anyone has any idea how to sync all of the stuff on my sensation without sending any information to google.
Also what is this tmobile theme engine they are talking about in this post:

When setting up your phone & using a gmail account, go to Accounts & Sync & uncheck syncing of contacts.
Then you can setup your e-mail accounts & contacts through HTC's exchange setup. This will not go throught google but will sync your phone to the exchange account directly.
Contact Sync
You could try using Microsoft Exchange as your email client. I use Exhange along with with my google email.
omar when i go into accounts and sync there is no feature to stop the syncing of contacts and also what is this htc exchange setup. Also i checked my gmail account and the contacts that are synced on it are only from the ones i input into google voice not my phone, but some contacts that are favorited on my phone show up on my gmail contacts as starred on android. So here is what im wondering: Does the phone only sync the contacts on my google account not all the contacts on my phone that i transfered for example from another phone

Your phone should sync each type of contacts seperatelty.
As for accounts and sync, tap on your google account and it'll open an another screen were you can choose (check) what you want to sync.
htc exchange, by going to accounts & sync > Add Account > Exchange ActiveSync.
This is only in case you have an Exchange Server to sync with.
I exchange email via Gmail only from my PC. I also have that same account setup on my phone (it is not used there), since Android requires it.
Since I do not want my Contacts/clients residing on Google's servers, I have Gmail sync turned off.
With Gmail sync turned off, can I now configure another non-Gmail email account, have it sync with my PC (direct via USB, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth), without these Contacts ending up on Google servers?

[Q] Why New Contacts App Has Syncing Issues?

Some of my newer contacts are not synching with either my Google Contacts or my Outlook.com contacts. I'm on a Nexus 5 running Android 5.1.
I use Outlok.com for my primary repository for contacts and calendars, however I use GSyncit add-on for MS Outlook (desktop) to sync my desktop Outlook contacts and calendars to Google. This way I can use Outlook.com or Google Calendar / GMail to access/share my calendar and access contacts depending on the situation.
Everything is working fine on the desktop end so that is irrelevant to this problem (so probably shouldn't even have wrote the above paragraph - but just in case.)
I see there is a new Google Contacts app on the phone and on the web. I noticed this when I clicked on the People app and it said the app was missing. When I go to the web version of Google Contacts via my Google account, there are no contacts there! All my contacts are still in Gmail though of course.
I see that when I attempt to edit an older contact on the phone, it first prompts me with which Google account I want to sync with. I don't need to sync my phone contacts directly with Google, I just want to sync with Outlook.com -> Outlook -> Google (via GSyncit) but I suppose it wouldn't cause a problem if I just had the phone sync to both accounts (probably will then need to disable GSyncit contact sync between Outlook desktop and Google).
What is weird is that it is like Google made the mistake of launching this new contacts app, but there's no notice or migration instructions on the changes with the new app. I just happend to discover something was "unhooked" by trying to edit a contact! I just discovered the new Contacts app on the web by Googling, Google Contacts. I'm technically saavy and somewhat of an Android Wonk, and am surprised this is all a surprise!
Do I have to go try to edit every single contact on the mobile Contacts app now to select which Google account it syncs with? I HOPE NOT!
At the risk of appearing dumb I'm leaving my original post for background. It appears this is (not surprisingly) all a Microsoft issue. When I went into the Outlook.com app on my phone, when you click on the Contacts and Calendars Sync setting, nothing happens! Come to find out this app is no longer on the play store. It appears to have been replaced earlier this year by the Microsoft Outlook Preview. Installed that app, and it doesn't and an account type to the phone! So it appears, unlike the Outlook.com app, it won't sync calendars and contacts with the native Android calendar and contacts app. It's as if Microsoft is trying to make you use their new app instead of the stock Android apps that just sync with the Outlook.com account? Please say this isn't so!

Title: How To Sync Contacts & Calendars with Native Android Phone Apps?
Reply
Hi,
Unfortunately , by design, it is not yet possible to sync your Android phone contacts to your Outlook.com account.
Note: At the moment, you can only sync Outlook.com contacts to your android phone.
Please provide your suggestions/opinion as a feedback to the development team. To do this, click on the gear icon on the top right corner of Outlook.com homepage and select 'feedback' from the dropdown menu.
Hope this information is helpful.

However, this isn't that big of a deal as I come to find out, even though there is no longer an Outlook.com account type on the phone any more, you can use the Exchange account type and use server address: s.outlook.com and then you can sync everything. Why the MS Tech didn't point this out it baffling.
(big middle finger for you Microsoft)
