Greetings,
I own a LG P500 which had froyo 2.2. I later officially upgraded it to 2.3..
Few Months back i rooted my phone, (i didnt have the slightest knowledge on what is was doing) but still i didn't brick it
Right now i run on Perfect pesov2.3.
I have decided to change my ROM to Android Open Kang Project for LG P500 (ICS 4.0.4) By WC
What I'm about to do :
I'm planning to backup files using Online Nandroid Backup, followed by flashing my ROM in recovery mode(yes, ill wipe data and cache)
then I'm flashing GAPPS.
My Doubts :
* Is Android Open Kang Project for LG P500 (ICS 4.0.4) By WC stable?
* When I'm flashing my ROM and if anything goes wrong, how should I use Nandroid and use the backup files?
* While flashing GAAPS, should i simultaneously flash it right after i flash my ROM or should i start my phone, go back to Recovery mode and Flash it again?
* Does GAAPS need wipe/cleaning out data also?
* After I flash my ROM successfully, how should i get back my apps, contacts and other data?
* Final one, I use only a 2GB memory card, and there are loads of unwanted files in it. I really wanna delete all the files (keeping only the ROM,GAAPS, and nandroid's folder) and flash the phone
Is it OK, if i do that?
List of Folders i have :

*aokp is stable
*if you have clockworkmod installed go to backup and restore section than choose backup this will do a nandroid backup of all files in your phone (not sd-card)
and to restore that nandroid backup go to the same section were you've been when you made that backup and choose restore and choose the backup (note : the backup will gonna have as name the date and hour when you made that backup)
*the gaaps needs to be flashed after you had flashed the rom and they don't need any wipe
*before to install any rom use from playstore any app to backup your apps and data like titanium backup
*i think yes and don't delete the "Android" folder it contains useful data from the system

Awesome for your help mate :good:
Thanked you!
So its ok if i delete my entire SD card except Android right?
Thanks again
yes but to be sure look in all folders for any files that you gonna need later
Thanks a Million!
Dont delete folders.. DCIM contains all the photos and videos you took.
Clockworkmod folder contains your Nandroid Backup of a rom.
Titanium contains the app backups you made.
Before flashing a new rom.. delete Android and .android_secure (hidden folder)
Understand what is the need of those folders before you delete them.

Im least bothered about my pics and videos..
And about deleting the Android File?
Are you sure? Cuz the above user just suggested me not to delete it.
Android and .android_secure are the most important folders.. contain installed apks and their data.
You can, delete them IF you are going to flash a new rom.

Know what .. install titanium backup to the internal memory ... take backup of all installed apps ... delete visible folders ( donot touch hidden ones ) ... reboot recovery .. make a nandroid backup (data+cache+.androidsecure) ... wipe/factory reset+ wipe data+ wipe dalvikcache+ wipe batterystats .. flash zip .. -> reboot ... connect mass storage.. cut clockworkmod folder from sdcard and paste somewhere safe on ur pc .... finally restore apps+data with titanium backup
pls hit thanks to show gratitude fr help

Ok, I like you, am tired of not having anything at all out there to flash and screw around with. I put this together last night and now that we have a somewhat functional clockwork recovery I wanted to give people something to screw around with.
That said, I'm having a lot of issues getting clockwork to properly flash .zips but fortunately there is a ghetto work around until I can look into fixing the issue.
Framework and apps are all deodexed and zip aligned. This is virgin, you will have to enter all of your information again so keep a titanium or mybackup handy.
I advise against restoring any data from apps that were once .odex. So restore your previous information carefully.
Do a Clockwork backup prior to doing this. If you don't then that is your own problem.
What you need:
1. You should be rooted and have clockwork recovery installed.
2. Download this image
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=CEIZVMHK
3. Extract the folder to your desktop. DO NOT CHANGE THE NAME leave it in the format that it is in.
4. Mount your sd card and open it. You should have a folder clockworkmod > backup >
If you don't then you didn't do a backup. Go back and re read what I wrote from the top and do that first.
5. Open that backup folder and drop in the file you extracted
6. You should see
clockworkmod > backup > 2010-09-15.00.44.56 > with three files cache, data and system .img.
If there is an extra folder from extraction or your directory structure is different it won't work.
7. reboot to clockwork recovery (power off, wait, hold volume down, camera then power until you see it)
8. go to backup and restore
9. restore
10. Select 2010-09-15.00.44.56
The backup will process on your device, once finished hit reboot and you will have a fully deodexed, zip aligned stock rom that you can now customize.
I have done this multiple times without any issues. You can also try a selective backup of just the /system folder and try an retain your /data. This has worked in the past for me, however I did have one incident where it cause a lot of issues and I had to do a full restore to stop the force close.
What do you gain?
Well the rom is a little bit zippier with things optimized a bit and there is a little more RAM available. It is also easier to skin and do other things now that all those pesky .odex files are gone.
If you have a question or issue post it here. Don't send me PM's.

Thanks man. Im speeding home for you. I can't download it from the epic for dome reason. My hero or evo was fine downloading zip files.

nope no problem
I'm out right now so I don't have acess to anything. I'll take a look at my update script and files to make sure its not just a stupid mistake.
Until then this works fine for people looking for something to mess with.
Flashing right now.
I have to files in the "clockworkmod/backup" folder. On is my backup today, which is 2010-09-14.20.23.11 and the other is 2010-09-14.05.12.51 (3 files totalling 254 Mb).
When I attempt to restore the 2010-09-14.05.12.51 folder, I get the following.
Please advise if this is correct.

Make sure you don't have an extra folder. Sometimes depending on how you extract the files you will end up with an extra folder.
Clockworkmod - should have the backup folder among other things
backup folder -should have the 2010-09-14.05.12.51 folder and your other backups
2010-09-14.05.12.51 folder should have cache.img, data.img and system.img
There shouldn't be any extra folders, that will create an issue with the recovery seeing the files.
Aridon, bro. Just flashed. No problems what so ever.
Yeah, all three (cache.img, data.img and system.img) are in there. I have run the restore twice with the extact same results as the pictures I've posted.
Aridon, the phones feels Snappier by FAR. I'm gonna run Quadrant and Linpack.

Did you do the newer version of Clockwork recovery?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=782300
Make sure your directory structure is exactly as it needs to be. I have it bold in the first post. Under Step 6.
If so, try downloading it again maybe its corrupt. Make sure you use winrar or 7zip to open it. Windows built in depacker is ****.

I did that exact Clockwork recovery in your link. As far as the directory structure, I know nothing abou that stuff I do know that it did successfully restore my original back up just now, so at least that is working for me. I am more than confident I am not seeing something, but I have no idea what. It seems pretty straight forward.
Aridon, got an 8.113 on first try with Linpack and 965 on Quadrant.

Directory structure is easy: Its a giant file cabinet with folders.
clockworkmod > backup > 2010-09-14.05.12.51 > with three files cache, data and system .img.
Open clockworkmod folder on your sd card:
Open backup
open 2010-09-14.05.12.51
You should see 3 files in there (cache.img, data.img and system.img). You shouldn't have to open anything else to see those files. Even an extra step like opening 2010-09-14.05.12.51 twice will mess up the process.(eg. you open it and see another one there and open it and then see the files, that would mess things up).
You should NOT have to open up any other folders, even if they have the same name, it will screw up the restore. So if you had to open 2010-09-14.05.12.51 (or any of the other folders twice or in a different order) that would be an issue.

Well sir, you are a great fellow! You hit the nail on the head with the structure as I had the three files within a folder named 2010-09-14.05.12.51, which was located within another folder named 2010-09-14.05.12.51.
Thanks for your patience with a new guy. This and my Evo are my first Android phones and guys like you are making the transition great!!
Let me know what the protocol is for giving credit for credit due around this forum!
So custom kernels stay? AWESOME!!!
hello guys hope you all are fine.
I am on stock ROM but my phone is rooted and I have made a ext partition of my memory card and using it with link2sd and I am going to install cm9 build 14 on my phone. You will need this information to answer my questions.
I have some questions in my mind so please help me.
1.in cm9 thread there's written that "Make sure you're running a proper working ClockworkMod-Recovery".I thinks so I am using yannou90 recovery so will I able to flash this rom or first I have to install this recovery from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2168725 ?
2.i am little bit confused between these 4 memory scripts (D2EXT+,INTEXT+,Mounts2sd,ungaze) or you can suggest me any better memory script and please include the link of the script.
please answer my questions I am a complete noob.
This is my first post so If i have posted in wrong section please move it to right section
Thanks in advance.
You've nailed the section, congrats
Now jokes asaid, your recovery is perfectly fine to flash whichever rom you wan't, the warnning is there for another reason, way back (1.5 years or something) there was some not succesfull attemppts with cwm(original one, not the one that you have)...... so don't worry, just follow instructions.
Now about your second question, I personnaly prefer mounts2sd becouse it has more options, the other scripts that you mentioned don't have this much options, but on the other hand, they are simpler to use and won't give you headakes if you play with them(mostly becouse you just can't). Also in my signature is really good explenation about memory scripts, check it out if you have some time
three more question.I saw a video on YouTube of installing cm9 in pico.He also wiped his cache partition so is it compulsory to do this? and the second is will i lose all my apps and ext partition after installing cm9 and the third question i have 1.5 gb of ext partition how can I extend it to 2gb.

Hey, Let me try to answer your queries.
1. Its better to wipe your cache partition. I dont know if its "necessary" or not but i always prefer to wipe it and have a clean flash of rom.
2. Start using Titanium Backup app. It will backup your apps+data to a particular folder in memory card. copy that folder in PC, after u r done with flashing just install titanium backup again and put the copied folder back in memory card. You wont lose your apps.
3. to expand 1.5 gb, use "ease us partition manager". its very user friendly. simply remove 500 mb from ur fat32 card and merge it with 1.5gb partition with correct extension.

I have already made the backup of my apps don't need their data.as i already mention that i am using link2sd on my stock rom so I also want to clean my ext partition how will I do this? should I also wipe dalvik cache? I have also made a nandroid backup of my pico.
I have to DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET before flashing cm9 or after flashing cm9
Check out this video.. click here
and in the instruction there's said " DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET (otherwise your device will be stuck at boot)" I have to do this after flashing rom and gapps right?
No u have to do it before
BEFORE flashing roms you should wipe EVERYTHING! After that, it's just not needed.
All set I have flashed cm9 build 14 in my pico thanks all for guiding me,Now I want to use mounts2sd script and there's written no app should be installed before flashing mount2sd,I was setting up my WiFi.My phone automatically updated the google play store to 4.x.x and also installed google play store services so what should I do now first uninstall the update and google play store services and then flash the mounts2sd or just flash mounts2sd without uninstalling anything?
Small suggestion
why don't you try DroidSail Super App2SD Lite to move apps from Phone to SD it Pops a Notification whenever a new App is Installed here the link https://play.google.com/store/apps/...DMsImNvbS5kcm9pZHNhaWwuZHNhcHAyc2QiXQ..:good:

I can't view the image but the play store version is the same app and can be updated like any other app. Flashable version must be configured from terminal as it doesn't include a GUI
It should, if it doesn't you can always flash the other version, personally I haven't tryed it with cm 9(playstore mounts2sd I mean), but there should be no issues. Just if you have 'android is upgrading' after every boot (not the first) you can try setting, 'sd-ext type' to 'automatic' also you can dissable 'safemode' drom playstore app, but do that only if you have issues, if not this things are useles s

Well you had downloaded a lot of apps via play store and you had no backup of these apps...
Then you came across a ROM or you decided to wipe out your data....
And the result...
You lost your apps!
Now you don't need to worry as I bring you the ultimate solution to extract and restore apps & other files from your backup!
So let's get started....
Things you will need:
A Good Advanced File Manager..
I suggest and strongly recommend you to use ROOT EXPLORER app.
I know you have it!
Now extracting of files depends upon which recovery you are using....
For TWRP users::
Go to the TWRP folder in your sdcard where the backup ie present..
Now if you want to extract downloaded apps n other files then Copy " data.ext4.emmc.win " don't take the md5 file! and paste it somewhere else...
Now rename the file by just adding " tar.gz " at the last ...
It should now look like this:
data.ext4.emmc.win.tar.gz
Now long press it and click "Extract All"
or simply extract it...
Now after the completion of extraction you will get all tha files from that backup...
Now to restore apps simply go to the " app " folder..
You will see all the apps in that...
Now to install them all at once just copy all the files and paste them here at the root
/data/app
Now reboot ...
It will show a message android is upgrading ..
Optimizing app 1 of 3X
Wait till it completes...
And guess what you got all your apps back....
To restore the settings of these apps copy their respective folder from tge extract to
/data/data
Similarly you can extract system partition too!
For CWM/philz touch users::
YOU TOO CAN USE THE ABOVE METHOD BUT IF IT FAILS THEN TRY THIS ONE..
Go to SD card/clockworkmod and copy your file according to your need what you want to extract..
To extract and restore apps copy:
"data.ext4.tar.a" to somewhere else
DO NOT COPY data.ext4.tar!!!!
Now rename the file by just adding " tar " at the last ...
It should now look like this:
data.ext4.tar.a.tar
Now long press it and click "Extract All"
or simply extract it...
Now after the completion of extraction you will get all tha files from that backup...
Now to restore apps simply go to the " app " folder..

Hi AlphaSoft, I'm trying to use your method on a TWRP data only backup. But apparently the backup was made in 5 parts each of close to 1.5GB. None of them are named data.ext4.emmc.win . Instead they are named data.ext4.win000 .... data.ext4.win004.
Must I extract them all?
Not working

Doesn't seem to work for me. My backups have upto 6 files ...data.ext4.win000, data.ext4.win001, data.ext4.win002, ......data.ext4.win005 each around 1.5gb
I have question, can this work when there are data.ext4.a, data.ext4.tar.b, data.ext4.tar.c, data.ext4.tar.d, data.ext4.tar.e, data.ext4.tar.f, data.ext4.tar.g, data.ext4.tar.h, data.ext4.tar.i, data.ext4.tar.j, data.ext4.tar.k ?
thank you.

Huh!*******
Hope it helps you....

I extracted the multi volumes data backup from a TWRP backup, after I extracted all of the files, I copied the data/app and the data/data contents into the respective folders of the new rom installation
But the booting process didnt show any upgrading message nor any of the apps detected by the new installation ?
Hi guys, I would like to know how I can extract these files and make the flash in sp flash tool, can someone help me please?
I have a backup of my Redmi 6 (Cereus) which has a briqued system, but before I did a full nandroid backup with twrp.
I can restore the stock rom and the phone goes back to normal but without imei, baseband, nvram or nvdata.
I would like to know how can I extract at least the nvram and nvdata file and flash it in sp flash tool.
That's my only difficulty.
I have an authorized Xiaomi account
Unlocked bootloader
Mediatek Drivers OK
EDL Mode Ok
USB Filters OK
Updated Win7 Operating System and no dependencies.
Stock Rom MIUI (Multiple Versions)
Flash MTK Tools
I thank you all!

Stupid question,
I normally use root essentials to make a system backup but I think with op6 it will not backup al the required files anymore I think.
So I want to make the backup true twrp but can someone list the files to backup. As there are also vendor partition listed. So please let me know what to backup exactly to make the correct backup.
Thanks in advance.
Regards ysco..
Bump,
Anyone?
I think you need to backup all partitions.

For a successful nandroid you need following partitions:
boot
system image
vendor image (not sure, if image is really needed, haven´t tested) yet
data
Separately an efs-backup is highly recommended which should be copied to an external storage.

the reply is not correct you explicitly don't need exactly those two image partitions to backup because they remain stock intact at all times, they only make your backup huge, up to 14GB instead of only 7-9GB once unchecking them.
of course as always you HAVE TO backup system and vendor, just not the system and vendor images, they serve to keep a clean stock
system available to recover from a soft brick, you can test that by re-locking and re-unlocking the bootloader and/or by formating all partitions
including user data on both slots. it will boot directly into a clean system (setup wizzard) like on first unboxing and this what you boot into then is exactly vendor and system image which remains untouched no matter what you do (except intentionally killing everything with brute force which is not even so easy)

i shall attach a screenshot to illustrate and much more important ist that if you ever opened parallel apps settings you'd have to delete all
999 folders in root > data > (all 3 misc + all 3 system + both user) folders else you get a 255 error.
Thank you.. i did wonder whether backing up image files was the right way.

That's absolutely correct. I was not precise enough in my post. I recommend a backup of the system image, at least I do it so, because I can not know in advance, whether later a factory set or a clean install will be necessary. So it does not bother me that the backup is a bit bigger then. It does not hurt and costs nothing.
As I said, the thing is, if I wipe system, then I need to flash it again if I did not back up system image - that's my experience.
Or am I wrong; I like to be corrected, especially your knowledge interests me.

It backups the APK
Android/Data/YOUR_APP_FOLDER (If it has something to backup in there)
Android/Obb/YOUR_APP_FOLDER( if it has something to backup in there)
If you are looking for the data/data backup. I'm sorry this app is a NON ROOT app and it can't backup that.

Ok Ok
New Update. Version 0.3
Now Supports Splits Apks.
Install, Backup, Restore,Share Split Apps Easily.
Also Supports Batch Uninstalling Now.
Damn, the missing backup application <3 It would be amazing if you could generate an xapk file Also, can you consider to add an option to backup private app data via ADB (a bit like Helium would do?)
I'll work on a little script to transform zip files to xapk on my side

Any particular reason why you want an xapk file?
And thank you for using my app. Hope you liked it.

@Zejsters
Hey good job on the app there.
So since swift backup desperately needs split apk support, and since your zbackup supports it, why don't you and him team up? Make a powerful one-stop-shop backup app. People would probably pay good money for a modern app that can do it all. (I wouldn't buy it, but others might)
Yeah you should team up with him. What's his name... Chris, or something.
I'll let him know you want to join forces. I think I speak for all of us when I say that your partnership is essential to the future of rooted android backup solutions. Godspeed.
How on earth do I set the path of the backups to my external storage??? I see no option to do so when I use this app to backup my games (data + obb) into a zBackup zip file; it just automatically creates the backup onto my internal storage which means it's pretty useless if I need to restore after doing a full factory reset or installing a new rom or something that wipes my internal storage along with all the zBackups. I'm using a rooted Redmi Note 5 (whyred).
Edited: nevermind, I found how to set path to my external card but when I tested it by backing up a game then uninstalling the game through Settings app menu then using zBack zips to restore/reinstall the game from the zip backup I got an error so it's still usless to me unless someone can tell me if I'm doing something wrong. It's a shame because I really wanted something that does full backups of apps/games to external storage and then lets me reinstall them so I hoped that this was it.
