I'll pay someone to fix my mess. (S-OFF and ROM) - HTC Sensation

I'll paypal someone 5 bucks if they can remotely get me S-OFF and flash OpenSensatio2 on my phone. I've tried everything and it's just not working. I've been doing this for 5 hours, I can't do this anymore. I am "Unlocked" but have S-ON. I also forgot to make a backup so there is no rom on my phone. I can get into Recovery (CWM 5) and I can get to Fastboot USB screen. I'm on HBOOT 1.18.000
I don't know how this works but if someone knows how to do this remotely over the web, lemme know.

First, you need 4ext touch recovery. Here is the download: http://www.4ext.net/ddl/pyramid/recovery.zip
Firstly, download the file, and rename it to pg58img.zip
Place the file on the root of your SD Card, and boot into bootloader. It will then search for the file, and install the recovery.
When the process is done, you must remove the file from your sd card.
Then you have to flash the ics firmware, which is required in order to run an ICS ROM.
Download a 3.32 or up firmware for your cid from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
Place file on root of sd-card, boot into bootloader, wait until finished, and then remove the file.
Now, download OpenSensation, and gapps, and place on your sd card.
Boot into bootloader, select recovery.
Then, scroll down to tools, and then ''Enable 4ext smartflash''
Then go back, and head into the wipe|format menu.
Then select format all partitions (except sd card)
Then go back to main menu, and select install zip.
Then choose install zip from sd card, and select the opensensation zip.
When that is done, flash the gapps zip.
Reboot and enjoy!

This works up until the welcome screen. I click "English (US)" and then it says "Just a sec..." and then freezes and reboots. You've gotten me farther than I've gotten. Any idea why we are hitting that reboot?

firstly he has to flash a GB rom via 4ext recovery then use revolutionary.io method to S-OFF the device
then flash 3.32fw or 3.33fw version in order to flash an ics rom

flash the boot.img of the rom manually

RevolutionaryIO will not connect to my device. It just keeps saying waiting.
EDIT: Can you post a GB rom I can flash. Rev is probably not connecting because I had no rom on the phone.

I have the drivers. I couldn't have debug on because there wasn't a rom on the phone. I'm looking for a GB rom now to test.

Hi,
You have used HTCdev,so you will not be able to use revolutionary.
Relock your phone.
You need to go right back to stock with a GB RUU .

I ended up flashing a GB rom just to try it out and make a backup. It worked.
Okay, so now-
1. Relock phone and then run the GB RUU exe
2. Turn debugging on
3. Attempt Revolutionary
In that order? Sorry if I have a bunch of questions. I've rooted a bunch of Galaxy's before and never ran into so many issues. I love the Sensation though.

Hi,
Ok.
If you have got a ROM installed, then, forget the RUU for now,but do relock the phone.
Turn debugging on
Then,try Revolutionary.

Thank you both for all of your help! I'm so happy just to have a rom on here, I thought it was dead. Haha. I'm going to try Rev again after dinner and I will update this post later today or tomorrow morning and let you know how I did.
I'm excited to be back on Android. I got rid of my iPhone. It was about time.

3.12 will do both GB and ICS but it isn't a native GB F/W release.
i) I'm assuming you have a Nandroid backup of the original ROM ?
ii) Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767 and get the 1.17 Firmware.
iii) Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178143 and get the 10.58 Radio
iv) restore the nandroid backup.
If no nandroid backup, then I'm sure others can oint you in the direction of the right RUU. Be careful installing RUUs as they potentially update too much.
You can either flash the gb firmware or simply run the latest RUU that you would like to have.
Keep in mind that you will lose your custom recovery.

Eek, never considered trying for S-ON. S-OFF is the main battle.

yes, I've already seen that, but there's also an howto in my native language, so I won't mess it up, the question just is, if it makes a difference, that I've got ICS?

-Download the hboot 1.17 matching with your cid&mid (if you're superCID doesnot matter which firmware u download and install) Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
-Download superwipe for sensation
-Download a radio for gb here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178143
-Download a gingerbread rom whichever you like.
1)Put your gb rom and firmware file into the "root" of your sd card and reboot into bootloader (or use volume down+power combination when the device is off). It will detect your firmware (if it doesnot not detect, select fastboot). select yes to upgrade and wait it to finish the upgrade.
2)Then power off your device and take your sd card off. Then volume down+power again (bootloader). Place your sd card to your device and select recovery. Connect your phone to your pc via cable and select usb mount (usb toggle for ex4 touchrecovery). Replace your firmware file with the radio file (the same file name) using your pc. Then apply superwipe and flash your rom as usual.
3)reboot into bootloader again and select yes when it asks to upgrade your radio (if it doesnot select fastboot again).
4) When finished, restart your phone and wait for the rom to boot!

can you please help me with step 1) & 2)
so I put the gb rom, the radio & the firmware on my sd.
then flash firmware, then radio, then superwipe & finally rom?
i think first thing is firmware, then super wipe in recovery mode, then rom and after long boot radio..
i do radio flashing with fastboot. connect phone with usb in terminal:
adb reboot bootloader
if you are in bootloader then in terminal:
fastboot flash radio radio.img
you must change radio.img with your radio name and i asume that you have ADB and FASTBOOT, you can get this from android dev..its named android sdk

Actually both radio and firmware have the same file name (the name is PG58IMG.zip) ıf you change the name of one of the files, fastboot will not detect the file. SO ; you have to put the firmware and rom into root of your sd card FIRST. When flashed the firmware, power off the device and just unplug your sdcard. Then boot into bootloader again (volume down+power when the device is off) As the device cannot recognize an sd card this way, it will not try to upgrade the firmware automatically. Then when the device is turned on into the bootloader give it 5-10 seconds and plug your card. Then go to recovery menu. And choose mount usb storage when the device is connected to pc. Delete PG58IMG file (firmware) Then superwipe and flash your rom. Then put your radio file which has the same file name with the firmware into root of sd card. Boot into bootloader and upgrade it. That's all!
If you are confused about unpluging sd card, then plugging again while in the bootloader menu, that is just to deceive the bootloader as i told before. If bootloader finds PG58IMG file in the sd card you will not be able to get into recovery menu. Alternatively, and easier method is to delete the firmware file after flashing it by using an external card reader instead of getting into recovery and mounting sd card via phone.

[Q] Help, boot loop here?

I wanted to flash to ARHD 6.3
This is my first time.. I managed to S off.. But then the bootloop began after I flashed PG58IMG.zip via fastboot.
Step 1. To S-OFF your Sensation - (You do not need to do this if you have S-off already or done this before) - WORKING NOW for TMOUS users
Visit
download the application for your operating System. AND EXTRACT IT TO A FOLDER
YOU MAY NEED TO DISABLE YOUR ANTIVIRUS PROGRAM- Norton is flagging up Revolutionary as a Virus when it isn't
IMPORTANT
Fill out the form under the download links with your OS, Device, Hboot Version and Serial number. This will give your beta key to enable you to S - OFF. Make a note of this.
How To get your Hboot Version - 3 methods below
1. [/url] and if it has found your device it should read
"Found your Device: HTC Sensation Z710* Applications -> Development)
4. With the phone switched on (not in HBOOT, just the regular home screen), plug in your USB cable and select HTC sync mode.(IGNORE any warning messages on your phone telling you it cannot find HTC Sync )
5. Launch revolutionary.exe. It should detect the phone and ask for your beta key. Type it (BE CAREFUL, as its case sensitive) or copy and paste it in.
If Revolutionary fails to find your phone verify you have all the drivers installed, try disk drive mode or charging mode (Linux users can use disk drive mode. Confirmed to be working by others)
6. Once you have entered your beta key correctly, follow any on screen prompts or actions from revolutionary and wait for it to S-Off,
7. You're done. Your Device will Successfully have S-OFF....if it hangs on method 3 and doesn't S-Off. See post 2 below for solutions.
IF REVOLUTIONARY SAYS FAILED YOUR PHONE IS NOT SUPPORTED. Go back and check hboot using the methods above. some users are told its failed and they still have S off now. If you have S-off your hboot will now be 1.17.1011 and revolutionary will tell you now your device is not supported
8. Revolutionary will now ask you to Install clockwork recovery mod after S OFF. Type N and install it manually below (the recovery provided is v4.0.1.4 doesn't charge when device is switched off, the one below v5.0.0.1 does charge)
9. Your Device now is S-off.
To install clockwork recovery for the sensation. Follow step 2!
STEP 2. To INSTALL Recovery - v5.0.0.8
1. Download recovery v5.0.0.8 for the Sensation HERE: or Multiupload
2. Copy the PG58IMG file into the Root folder of your SD card (The main Folder of your Memory Card)
3. Turn off your phone FUlly and reboot into the Bootloader/HBOOT screen (see post above on how to get to hboot screen)
4. Press Volume up to Accept when it asks" Do you want to start the update"
5. Press Power Off to Reboot back to android after installation is successful (normal screen with homescreen)

good question..
immediately after s off, i boot into my ROM and tried to install busybox and other apps that requires superuser or root but failed and stating that my device was still not rooted..
so i proceed to install a recovery (in this case its ext4 recovery) but failed to find a .zip installer (but managed to find the .apk and .img version but afraid to proceed considering the extension wasn't the same as per guide's PG5...ZIP). so i tried to simply install cwm as per stated in the guide. coz i know after recovery is installed, only then i would be able to install the su zip files.
then it boot looped.. n here we are trying to shoot all of these troubles.. XD
and if my understanding was wrong, pls correct me. thanks!
only after you sent me the links i managed to install ext4 recovery via a much easier method using cmd.exe..
n that also means that i wasn't even able to follow through the supercid part of the guide..

wait a moment, i dont know if things are making more sense to me but, is it possible that this was caused by a wrong firmware? i just figured out my cid and its htc_044 and there are 4 different version of firmware for this cid, so should i try each of it until my phone boots to my original ROM?
Update: Oh God, I'm in such a relief! Thank God it works now. I flashed the firmware 1.17 n now am able to boot back into my ROM. Now i'm gonna get things backed up n will proceed. phew thanks so much for helping me out. The cause was maybe the zip files werent compatible with mine. So i check my cid n mid, n downloaded what might be the original one. so now its fixed..

No it is not rooted.
To permanently root your Sensation
1. Download the file su-2.3.6.3-ef-signed.zip from here: DOWNLOAD
2. Copy su-2.3.6.3-ef-signed.zip to your SD card root folder (main folder of your memory card)
3. Start clockworkmod recovery (instructions below. See To Start Clockwork recovery)
4. BACKUP YOUR ROM USING CWM BEFORE ATTEMPTING ROOT!
5. Navigate to "Backup & Restore" using the Volume Down button and press select (power button to select) then select "Backup"
6. Select "install zip from sdcard" after backing up
7. Then select "Choose zip from sdcard"
8. Then select "su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip"
9. Then select "Yes - install su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip" to confirm
10. Then go back
11. Then reboot.
12. You're rooted!
the problem is that i cant get CWM on my phone, i've downloaded recovery then renamed to PG58IMG.zip then went into HBOOT but no message asking if i want to install
it sais: checking then the screen turns black and back on, then it sais parsing and then nothing happens

Hi Guys,
It's propberly caused by the TS provider "T-Mobile" there are some HTC Sensation's out there who are "T-Mobile Branded"!!
If that's the case, the TS must take some more action to get root acces, I know for a fact that there is a thread here on XDA about it, I think it's this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1232107&highlight=t-mobile+branded+root but don't know for sure!
the fun is, that for that tool, you need root access as well. -.-'' i think im getting stonewalled here
im pretty sure my phone isn't simlocked, because the phone and simcard were put together seperatly so it's not an t-mobile device
does this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1377759
have the same function as CWM? a.k.a should i try rooting with 4EXT?
yes victory, i think the problem was that there was an old backuyp of CWM which might have been interfering
Hello everybody,
I have the same problem. I unlock my sensation with htcdev and now i'm unlocked with s-on.
When I copy the PG58IMG.zip to root of memory card and I reboot into bootloader it starts a checking on the zip, then it continues with "parsing PG58img" and returns to the main bootloader window without anything happens.
How did you succeed? Maybe I'm using the wrong img...
Thanks a lot
worked for me thanks!
check your main folder on ur SD card, and see if there is an old Clockworkmod map/backup, if so delete and then try again

[Q] HTC sensation bootscreen loop

Hi there. I've read some advices for similar problem, but i couldnt find any solution to this.
My girlfriend tried to flash her rom in Sens and i think she made it bad
I know, that she unlocked her bootloader (1.27) with htc dev page. She flashed touch CWM as a recovery.img and she used partitioning function on her SD card by CWM. It earased her backups etc (yea, cool , isnt it ? ). Form this moment she couldnt mount usb storage and connect phone to the pc in CWM mode. She rebooted system and copied OrDRoid and Sharpy ROM's to the SD. Rebooted to recovery, and she... did full wipe and dalvik cache wipe. Flashed with Sharpy ROM and now... it's the best moment
She forgot to flash the radio, and she didn't read any of instructions in the topic of rom. She just did it like I do it in my desire
So, the question is, how to bring it all alive ? Now there's unending bootscreen loop and i rly donno what to do... I hope u guys will help me with this coz she's now shou ting etc all the time

If bootloader is still accessible, i would recommend the following steps
1- Get superCID (i would recommed but its not neccesary)
2- Flash the latest firmware 3.32.x.x (Put the PG851MG file on root of sd card)
3- delete the PG851MG file from sd card
4- do a full wipe and then flash the ROM. (which should be on the root of sd card)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
Use the link. Its quite usefull.
Yeah. She did all that but she needed you to post this question. This question that's been asked a billion times and answered 2 billion times already.

Please follow this guide.
Skip the HTC Dev step since you have already done it.
@debarox.
i tried it, but it's all ending at parsing, rebooting the phone to bootloader, parsing and phone goes off ;] with no effect
@kgs1992
mhm
you're right, there is still s-on coz she only unlocked access to flashing the rcovery
i'll try later to do it
@Kevc44485
successfull troll is succesfull isnt it?
I tried your 2 billions advices and all of them ends with no effect
Tell your girlfriend, I.e. yourself, to start the phone in boot loader, click on fast boot, plug in her (your) phone to the PC and run the proper ruu. And next time make sure your girlfriend (you) pays attention to what she's (you are) doing. Maybe she (you) shouldn't flash anymore phones.
man ... the computer won't see my phone in fastboot if it doesnt work in usb storage mode in cwm so i can't use RUU. this is the reason why i'm here writing these posts
maybe u're schizophrenic and you can mistake hand with another person, whatever, i'm not you .
I didn't have problems with flashing any of MY phones but i can't (yes u're right, i can't) fix up someone's mistakes if i don't know the phone ;]
I think when its plugged into the computer in fastboot mode the computer should install the drivers automatically. Mine did.

Ah lol caught you. It is your phone. Haha LMAO!!!
Who's a schizophrenic?
Another possible problem might be that you don't have the appropriate firmware.
Do you have 3.32.x.x firmware? If not, follow this, Use 3rd method:
Step 1. Flashing 4EXT recovery touch
To dowload and install the newest version of 4ext recovery TOUCH (v1.0.0.5 RC3). Use one of the following methods provided:
Third method: Download this file, check the MD5 of the zip and install it following the steps 4 and 5 from post#1 in this thread.
NOTE: File used in third method WILL NOT install the needed 3.32 firmware in any way, only contains the recovery.img to flash 4ext recovery touch.
Updating the firmware
This step is MANDATORY otherwise your ROM will not boot.
After updating the firmware you will have the 3.32 firmware with unlocked bootloader. Which basically means that you can use advanced fastboot commands, such as: flash new radios and splashscreens
Download compatible firmware from here.
Copy the PG58IMG.zip file you've downloaded to the root of the sdcard. Root of the sd card mean that you can't put the file inside any folder. Also, you can't rename the file. Please keep the PG58IMG otherwise the bootloader won't recognize it.
Power off your phone or remove the batt and put it back again.
Hold volume-down + power button to boot into the bootloader
Wait for the firmware package to be found and confirm to update as prompted
Once it completed successfully and prompted you to reboot, pull the battery out.
Connect your SD card to the PC and remove the PG58IMG.zip file.

Perform a SuperWipe. It can be found at the end of this post.
Now, just flash a compatible ROM & you're good to go.
If you follow all these steps, I am a 100% positive your device will boot perfectly.
yea we have another problem
it's completely disharged and when i try to connect and charge it only blinks the orange light ; o
Well princess, you're **** outta luck.
Do you have any other way of charging it?
Try plugging in the charger elsewhere. Remove & re-insert the battery.
Also, I have edited the previous post with steps for you to follow since you can't use adb or fastboot. Please read through that and follow it.
k. not bad. i''ve got fully chargd battery and 4-ext recovery touch. firmware 3.32.
now i need any rom for that firmware and s-on... xd

I'm a super-noob at this

Hi, I'm new to this forum and I hope I'm posting this in the right section of the forum, apologize if not.
I'm just a super-noob at this overall cell-phone terminology for Rooting, ROMs and etc.
I want to root my phone and input the new Android Jelly Bean on it (I hope that's possible)
I have no idea where to start. When I search online I found some older threads on how to but I'm not sure if it's still viable.
I'll post my phone info and see where this will go.
HTC Sensation z710e
Android version 2.3.4
Software # 1.45.401.3
When I press "power" + "vol down" I see
-Revolutionary-
Pyramid PVT ship S-OFF RL
HBOOT 1.17.1111
Any help, hopefully step by step help will be most appreciated. Thank you for your patience and if you require more info let me know

probably you aren't rooted
but consider this
every custom rom comes prerooted
so there is no point to root your current one
about md5 sums:
put the zip in your sdcard
navigate with any file manager you have to that zip
tap and hold on it until it pops up a menu
go to properties
somewhere it will say show checksum or calculate checksum
it will show you a row of letters and numbers
then compare it with the one from the download link and see if it matches
note: once you flash the 3.33 universal(ics firmware) your current rom won't boot because it is a gb one
so you have to flash the new rom after upgrading your firmware
and don't forget to backup your current rom just in case
by the way do you have sdk tools installed in your pc?(adb and fastboot files)

Google md5 generator for Windows. Use the first link that you find.
If you have 4ext recovery, you can check md5 there itself.
Happy to help.
Okay, I checked with an MD5 program suggested, and it codes match. Great!
How do I backup my current ROM? I've heard of Clockwork and 4Ext but doesn't it require a Root?
I plan to use to ROM. How do I flash a new ROM?
