HELP! My infuse is bricked?! - Samsung Infuse 4G

Ok I have a ATT Infuse 4G phone, and for some reason it says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. please select recovery mode in Kies & try again.", I have tried several methods to fix this, but nothing would work. It all started when I was using odin to root my firmware, but i moved my cord a little bit by mistake, and it said the progress had failed. then I saw the screen. I can get on Download mode, but can't really see anything. I decided to go back to odin to see if I can go back to stock, but it freezes at a certain progress part, or at the end says it failed. I can't do anything about it and its getting me worried. Can anyone give me a step by step tut on how to fix it? All is greatful, thanks in advanced. <3

First, this belongs in q&a.
Second, if you had searched, you would have found quite a few step by steps that have already been written.
Third, check the stickies.
sent from outer space.

When in download mode try qksters one click to stock. Should work.
If that doesn't then gtg had a unbrick out from way back in the day. Go to android dev section and go to the sticky on everything. Should be in there.

[q] please help!

ok so I was using odin, and my dog all of the sudden popped out and dropped my phone on the ground, which caused it to turn off in the middle of something. Now, when I turn it back on, it's stuck on a screen with a cell phone, !, and a computer. IDK how to get out of it. I tried the oneclick thing, (yes i relocated the file into the right place, followed directions, bla bla) but when I try to install heimdall, something seems to go wrong, and the oneclick thing wont work. So now, I'm panicking right now because IDK what to do. Please, I don't use xda much, and as I said, I'm a complete newb. Please be kind enough to provide sufficient info to get me out of this mess. Thanks a ton in advance
That screen is still a form of download mode. Continue with the one clicks instructions as you normally would and you'll be fine.

Yes, you're still in download mode. When you say "something goes wrong," what do you mean?
Without more description, I would totally guess a driver issue, but more details from you would help.

Stuck on "System Software not authorized by Verizon Wireless" or ODIN Mode

I had rooted my Galaxy S3 VW version to 4.0.4. and tried to flash an Eclipse Rom to it and somehow I soft bricked it and can't get it to do anything. I have searched all over these forums and can't get anywhere.
At this point I just have a headache.
Go to droidstyles guide under stickies in android development. Find the guide to Odin back to stock.

I can't believe you couldn't find anything on this, even using tapatalk to search the forums, and tapatalks search function is a joke. I was able to find the threads Zalithian posted and more
Just in case you didn't read them or droidstyle's guide the problem you're having is cause you used either version 1.3 or 1.4 of EZ-Unlock. If you'd read droidstyle's guide you would have known to use version 1.2 or lower to unlock it. As the posters above me said, you're going to have to use Odin to go back to stock and start from the beginning again.
This time follow droidstyle's guide and you won't have a problem. I try not to be rude to newbies, because we have ALL been there, but this was just plain lazy on your part man. Even when I was a newbie I researched almost everything before I posted a question about it.

Alright.. I just got confused by the 300 stickies and threads on the site, but thank you for pointing out that I needed the version 1.2 or lower to unlock it. I downloaded it and put it in a folder on my computer... I tried to start from the 6th section on droidstyle's guide (Odin to stock) but I am stuck on the green android screen with the words "Downloading... Do not turn off target!! and no comport number on the upper left of the GS3 screen... ODIN Mode is in red at the top. I just can't get past this step when I try everything. IDK what I am doing wrong.
First time I saw it say that on my phone I about s**t my pants
Flashed root66 through odin (I had to find the 'right' version of odin to get it to work) then it workes. No more system software not authorizes. The unlocked my bootloader after realizing that was the problem.

So, just open up the 2.1 version of Odin with only F-reset time selected and the phone tick box checked and the root66 file and hit start?

Firstly you need to be using Odin version 3.07 .
You're going to plug your phone in first and then you're going to start Odin. I think, if I remember correctly, the comport pulls up in red. Then you are going to leave all the little check boxes alone, the only 2 that should be selected are Auto reboot and F. Reset Time and they are already selected when you start Odin. Then you are going to click on the PDA button and select the file you downloaded to flash and find the file you downloaded and select it. Then just press start, it will seem like its frozen towards the end of flashing, but its not DO NOT unplug your phone unless you want a pretty paperweight. That should be all you have to do. ALSO there won't be a comport number on your phones screen, only on the Odin screen, and like I said above I am pretty sure that the comport number is always in red but you need to make sure the stock ROM you downloaded to flash in Odin was one of the ones in Droidstyle's guide only.
I know there are a ****load of stickies but they aren't confusing they're there to keep something like this from happening, its generally best to ask questions first if you don't know what you're doing or just read through all of the stickies that pertain to what you're trying to do. When I first was trying to figure out how to unlock and flash for the very first time I read every sticky and post in the development section that had anything to do with my phones specific processes. That's how I learned what to do, even the stuff I didnt need to know at the time I still read just because I might need it one day.

It's pretty easy once your phone says downloading it shwould be in download mode. Open Odin from the link provided In droidstyles guide and comport should have a number marked in yellow. Mine said comport 0:5 then leave everything alone click on pda and look for the stock Rom that you downloaded the stock 4.0.4 Rom should be 1.2 gigs. Once you click start wait about 5-10 minutes then it shoold reboot your device. Mostlikely you will be stuck in the 4g screen just wait 5 minutes if it doesn't change take out the battery and plug it back in then hold volume+power+home buttons and boot into the android recovery and wipe data. Reboot and you should be good to go.

If you don't have a comport number you haven't installed the Samsung driver's. Those are also in droid styles guide.

Download your stock firmware, install Odin, boot to download mode and flash the firmware with Odin.

Phone wont turn on

Hey guys my Samsung Infuse will not turn on. Before you ask, i have used Odin and Heimdall. I think it is bricked but i can get into download mode and Odin will not pick it up that it is connected. I have downloaded GTG ultimate unbrick and that has not worked. Ive downoaded the stock gingerbread one click method using heimdall from qkster and THAT has not worked. If you guys have anything else i can try, please say so.
If you can get to download, you don't have a brick. Search and read...lots of threads with the same issues.

Your answer should be a sticky. :highfive:
Cant find it in the stickies. Anything else i could try, ill try anything?
Hmmm, you didn't find anything in the stickies about it possibly being a bad usb cable or bad usb port or about perhaps trying a different computer?
You say that the phone won't turn on but that you can get it into download mode. That sure sounds to me like it turns on.
You don't give much info.

OK the phone has finally booted up and everything is functional. Now i have a problem where i can see the downloading screen sometimes when the phone is on but im not in download mode. Is there a way to fix that?
Only thing I can suggest is full wipe and a fresh flash of your rom. Good luck!
A fresh flash from Odin/Heimdall? or CWM.
I would try cwm first then heimdall.

Hey guys, I dont have the exact problem, but i do think my skyrocket i727 is also soft bricked. Ive been researching allot since i dont know too much, and i dont wanna risk my phone dying on me. Any help will be greatly appreciated. While at work (currently deployed, so i can't go into an AT&T store) i used my friends charger to charge my phone. Ok, i put it were all the sockets are, that i always use and have not had any issues with. And it didnt charge, so i plugged it into my friends laptop. I see on my phone the blinking battery, and continue to use my gtalk. Had to step out to work, disconnected the charger and continued on with my day. A few hours later i took my phone out and noticed it kept on vibrating while the screen was black. Took the battery off put it back and nothing. Then took the battery out for like 2 3 hours, and again nothing. It will jus go to the 1st samsung logo, then to the second and go black, then vibrates every other second. I'm going crazy because i dont have a memory card and am soo terrified of losing my pictures and videos. I have read and have had the guys i work with help me, and one friend downloaded the Odis program, but before i use it, i just want to make sure theres nothing else I can do. Again ive read the steps, understand them, but will it delete my pictures?? I apoligize for the length of my thread, just trying to give as much detail as possible. I have never tried to modify my phone, so its still in its original form. Please help. Thank you in advance. Have agreat day

[Q] I need some Help Please!

UPDATE: I decided to get another phone through my insurance and received the same phone as of today (3-11-13) so thanks to everyone that helped me it was a greatly appreciated! Thank you very much next time I root I'll make sure to backup everything and pay really close to everything. Thank you all for helping.
Okay long story short my phone (Galaxy S 4G) is stuck on the screen where it shows a Phone, !, and a Computer. I did some research on the Internet and read something saying that this is an alternative Download Mode. Basically, what I am trying to do is Unroot my phone / revering back to stock, but did some dumb things to the point where I am stuck on this screen. I am currently using Odin to do all of this, but Odin doesn't recognize my phone for some odd reason because its been read before. So I did some research and read that I had to uninstall then reinstall some drivers then reboot my computer then do everything again. I did that, but Odin is still not recognizing my phone. I tried plugging my phone in all USB ports of my computer and its still not recognizing my phone. What do you think I should be doing? I definitely need some help and it would be greatly appreciated if any of you can help me.
Tried a different cable? Wiped data/factory reset?
It's in download mode, that's a good thing.
Which Odin version are you using? Samsung kies installed? You could try uninstalling kies/drivers & go heimdall one click.. search for lumin30's guide (it's sticked in forum). Mash thanks in his thread if it helps

Well, yes it's in Download mode, but the alternative one with the phone, !, and computer. Also I can't wipe/data factory reset unless theirs a way to get that if so let me know. The version of Odin I am using 1.7, so I tried v1.80 and the latest version which is 3.07. Yes, I have Kies installed with the drivers as well. I also looked into that heimdall one click, but there is too much stuff to do and download that my computer cant handle because it is really old so maybe if there is another way around this that would be helpful other than that I don't know what else to do.
Whatever you did that got it there... was perfect. If you had just flashed it once more when you got to that screen, your phone would have been working ever since.
Now? No clue what you've done with drivers and the like since back then. Try a one-click in a new USB port without installing any drivers?
Does the computer see the device and not Odin or do both see nothing (any beeps ?).
Are you doing the battery drop in while it's connected to the usb? Or booting it (into download mode) then plugging it into computer?
Which Rom are you trying to flash?
Windows should be able to do the one click. Which version (of Windows) are you using?

Odin only recognizes your port only if you actually in the download mode; the one with the picture of the android robot and the word 'downloading.' Here is what you need to do:
1) open Odin program;
2) remove battery from your phone;
3) plug USB cable into computer and your phone;
4) press the up and down volume keys at the same time;
5) As you hold down the volume keys, put the battery back on the phone, and wait for about 3 seconds. You should be able to see the download robot. If it doesn't work, try it again.

Well, if you plan to root your new phone in future, you are going to run into this issue again. Backing up the data won't help you get out of this jam. My advice to you is to use your new phone as is; don't try to root or install customize roms <<<---that was a painful experience, but I've mastered the timing to the point it takes only one try now.
If you are a first timer, it is not easy to get into download mode. You have to do a couple of times to get a hang of it. It becomes an art form - just like getting into DFU mode on an iPhone for first time.

Its really not that difficult dude! Its scarier than it really is . Trust when we tell you. Its gonna be more time consuming than anything else bout 2 maybe 3 hours ...this includes downloading, deleting, re downloading, connecting, disconnecting, "If u can get Odin to open and running on your old computer.You should be able to get Java, Bhundvens 1 click ..and Or Gremlin remover".!!! Kies is only good if you want the Samsung drivers once you've got your phone back to full fledge stock. If you want to save the $130 its gonna cost you for a phone through (Assurion)that in reality isn't worth buying again your better off using that towards a New phone trust me bro I'm no dev and don't speak they're language Lol (I wish) I personally know from frustrating trial and error! Believe that u can do it and when you do it you'll be like wow that's it!!! Just try being more cautious homez.
