[Q] Galaxy s3 1535 9300 difference? (HDMI out related) - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Here is my goal: We purchased the gameklip for our phones, and I want to run emulators, and play some games with the video streaming to our mitsubishi 82" 82742 tv. (We'll also do various video mirroring to the tv, for things like ebook/ecomic reading, android based games, or other apps.)
Plans are to use the wireless version of the gameklip so the hdmi port is freed up for hdmi out/charging, so I'm looking to buy an hdmi out adapter/cable for our S3 1535 phones, but every product advert I see for them lists the 9300, not the 1535.
What are the difference between the phones, and should I be looking for something specific to the 1535? (I couldn't find any online comparisons between the verizon 1535 and the 9300.)
It looks like the hdmi adapters can be had for about $10 shipped on ebay or amazon.
We were running our old droidx phone's hdmi out to the tv before our new phones. It looks like the old droidx hdmi cable has a micro hdmi port for the phone, and the S3 adapters give you a full sized hdmi out.
I think I need the latest jellybean leak, the 9300 hdmi adapter, and a new 12' hdmi cable, or do those adapters also have a micro hdmi on them as well?
Also it sounds like to use the home theater, I'll also need to add a audio cable to plug into the home theater (or does the s3 hdmi out also pass through audio to the tv speakers? using the tv speakers would be fine.) Worse case I can use my bt stereo headset, but audio coming from the tv or home theater would be nice.
(Sorry for all the questions, but we are still on a learning curve coming from the DX.)

You want a 9305 quad core with 2gig of ram. i535 is only a dual core and the 9300 only has 1gig of ram.

I think you misunderstood my question. We already have the Verizon Galaxy S3 phones. we are looking to what we need to hook them up properly to our bigscreen tv to mirror video/audio out.

I'd Say go to Verizon buy an mhl adapter around$40 don't buy the cheap ones doesn't work well . it
allows you to mirror, games and all
Sent from my s3 using xda premium

Mhl is a service key piece that let's mhl compatible tvs to control the device remotely with the channel changer. Since most hdmi tvs don't have this (mhl) they make an adapter for basic hdmi out usage since it is different protocols.

I can confirm that the Samsung HDMI adapter that is specific for the S3 works for the I-535.
$20 on Amazon.

Thanks for the info, and relocating this to the proper location, Mod.
I also looked into wirelessly sending video/audio via the samsung allshare dongle for our tv, but it sounds like it still does not receive 1080p, and some people have all sorts of connect/frame dropout issues with that.
It sounds like the newest jellybean leaks improve the situation, but spending $80 hoping it gets resolved doesn't sound very practical to me.
I think we'll go with the mhl adapter. I checked my droidx cable, and it does have a full sized at one end, and a micro hdmi at the other end. 8(
Is monoprice still the best place for low prices on hi speed hdmi cables? I'll need a 12 footer to stretch from the couch to the phone.

I've heard good things about Monoprice, but haven't used them personally.

Holy crap are they expensive! $10.50 plus shipping for a 1 foot long cable? Are they smoking crack?
I purchased 3 6 foot long hi speed hdmi cables off ebay just a few weeks ago for less than $10 shipped.
I haven't seen any validation for premium expensive hdmi cables anywhere... every time you read reviews, unless you are running extremely long distances (20 feet or more) everyone says all hi speed rated cables are pretty much the same regardless of price.

I might have looked at the wrong cables then. Thanks for that info again!
I have a feeling we'll just go with the hdmi adapter and the cable.. it sounds like the samsung allshare dongle just is not ready for prime time yet.

No hdmi cable??

I noticed there isn't a micro hdmi cable included with the phone so I found a sweet deal for a 5ft cable for those of you who will mirror your phone on your tv..

got a 15 foot for like 8 bucks off ebay... will also test and post link if its good!
Yea at that price it isn't a big deal. Sucks it didn't come with one. I hate products that brag about these features but can't work out of the box because you need X-Product and Y-Product.
Fortunately my 1080p Toshiba S60 camcorder came with one. It came with everything I needed (8gb SD, Tripod, HDMI cable, case, cloth).

I agree, I have ordered many cables & adapters from monoprice over the years. from home theater to PC. prices are always great, fast shipping and great quality.
the HDMI cables are especially great
I can third Monoprice, every cable I've gotten form them has been really high quality (gold plated and so on).
Ordered thanks.
Are there any restrictions on the HDMI out?
Ordered 3 At that price a good gift for the buddies!
Thanks

The only restriction i think is when you play a video, it will only show on the HDTV and not the device, other then that it's full mirroring. what i want to know is if the youtube player can tap into the 1080p feeds on youtube....?
Monoprice FTW
I purchased from monoprice 3 things so that i can watch w/ other people existing hdmi cables, my own hdmi cables and 2 new cables i bought,
3872 / 1.5ft 28AWG High Speed HDMI Cable w/Ferrite Cores - Black $1.84
4032 / 25ft 24AWG CL2 Standard Speed HDMI Cable - White $18.24
7703 / Micro-HDMI Male (Type D) to HDMI Female (Type A) Port Saver Adapter $3.94
I plan on using it to watch youtube and games and web surfing from my couch so i got a 25 foot one to run along the wall, and the 1.5 i can take it with me in my coat jacket, friends house / hotels / vacation to relatives, everybodys got hdmi but not an easy solution to get avi movies on the big screen..w/ my phone we do! I love it! and I watch tons of youtube so now i can have a big screen to watch it and a couch...not my computer chair....hurray! ooo and music videos on my tv again...surround sound put into use for music once again...i have an HTPC but i can't read it, and when i turn the DPI up it gets cramped...so i'm loving the HDMI out and the Port Saver will make things alot easier and make the cables cheaper so everybody get the port saver..then the cables.......okay long comment..over....
Anyone figured out a cheap and easy way to get this mini-HDMI to a D-SUB VGA? There are two places I'd like to use this feature that have projectors and no HDMI interface (though DVI is an option at one).
I have a micro HDMI cable grandfathered from XT720 (can be used with HTC EVO too) and it fits 100%, but I don't have chance to test.
Monoprice is cheaper.
10ft Micro HDMI at monoprice for $5
Spend an extra 80cents for 15ft hdmi cable.

Can't unfortunately. HDMI is digital only (unlike DVI which carries both digital and analog signals), so the only way to output to an analog connection like VGA is with a converter, which are $90 and up.

What HDMI cable are you using and where did you get it for your Charge?
I bought a cable from amazon. Works perfectly.

That's awesomely cheap. Ordered.
Monoprice adapter
I went and just ordered a short adapter with a cord so I can use my super long HDMI cables with it and not have to worry about an adapter putting all that stress on the port. Also it is dirt cheap.

I got that one, I leave it hooked up to one my my Sony Bravia's HDMI ports (it has 4).
I can't get audio to play via HDMI for the life of me. I tried two different HDMI cables/adapters, multiple HDMI ports, reboots, etc.
Halp.
Selective HDMI sound
Is there a way to control where the HDMI sound goes to. Because sometime I have monitors i hook my phone up to and would like to be able to control the sound to come out of the speaker on the phone?

This is sort of on and off topic. Anyway, to these users, what kind of things can be displayed with the HDMI cable? Can you stream things like netflix, youtube, slingplayer, ETC? I currently a TB owner, but so far I have had a lot of issues and we will leave it at that.
Using the cable I had gotten for my X2. The X2 starter kit was on sale for $20 on release week
Nevermind, found the answer.
Cheap Chinese one from eBay. Works fine, but build quality is questionable to say the least.

Wow, 80 cents??? I just ordered one, but should have ordered two or three at that price.
I just received my cable from monoprice.com today. hooked it up to the TV and everything worked great. I would suggest buying the cable from there if you are looking for one. Video and sound worked flawlessly.
Can anyone confirm that the very cheap one off Amazon in the 2nd post has working audio? If not i'll just go with Monoprice,
Thanks,
I got one from walmart belkin 6 footer for 30$ and it works great.

[Q] what type of cable to go from the TF to an HDTV?

I was at Walmart today looking at the HDMI cables....I plan on hooking my TF up to my HDTV...and all that WM had was normal sized HD cables...
What cable do I need? Is it called "Mini-HDMI" to HDMI?
HDMI Mini to HDMI Male...
Get one from Amazon, I bought the cheapest one I could find on Amazon which was £1.90 (around $3) and it works fine...don't believe any of that BS that 'you get what you pay for'...
Thanks Bigmo!
Just to make sure...
Is this it?
http://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-P570-006-mini-HDMI-Digital/dp/B000TT80DG/ref=pd_sim_e_3
OR this?
http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Speed-Mini-HDMI-Ethernet-Meters/dp/B003ES5ZR8/ref=pd_cp_e_1
Both of those will work, but I suggest ordering from Monoprice over Walmart or Amazon. Here is a list of cables that will work for the TF: http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10242 (the last one here won't work unless your TV supports mini HDMI, and I doubt it does).
Ethernet is nice to have but is currently not supported by (m)any devices. It's only pennies or so on monoprice, so I always pick it up for when hdmi w/ ethernet devices start coming out.
thanks very much, I appreciate the help.

HDMI cable

I bought an HDMI cable from Ebay and hook it up to my HD TV using the Droid Charge, but nothing shows... do I need any special program to make this work, or is it just my cable might be bad, i got it cheap, like $5.
It's the cable. I brought 2 and they're no good. I then paid $3 for HDMI to mini HDMI converter and used my regular HDMI cable. You don't need any special app to watch Netflix on TV. Remember, the quality will be OK only since Netflix resolution for phone is not same as netflix from computer or xbox.
I've had some luck with the cheap Chinese ones on Ebay. My first one was bad, but then the seller was nice enough to ship me a new one at no charge. The second one works just fine and I have been using it for a while now.

I did the same thing. Bought the adaptor. Works well.
Charge, stock-rooted.. XDA Premium
Like above posters I too went on the cheap side (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003UH0Z9Q). The price is 2.50 for the cable. The first one didn't last to long (that's cause the toddlers were using it as a jump rope). I bought another one cause its 2 bux and that one has worked fine for the past 3 months. The ones at best buy is 30 bux!!! Ill spend 2 bux and take my chances. So far luck has been on my side.

Proper USB charging cables

Hey!
Found this forum as I was looking into why the h*** my USB chargers didnt charge my new S4 :silly:
This thread helped me a lot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2274321
But one question remains unanswered:
Where to find a decent USB cable that serves same ammunt of current as the original charger+cable?
I feel a need for a longer cable than the 1M delivered with the phone.
First I tried a cheapo 3M cable, unshielded=300mA
Then a shielded 3M=600mA
Cut the shielded 3M one into a 70cm cable, and did not connect the shield=1900mA, just as the original cable.
Is it really so that any cable more than 1M long cannot be used if I want to achieve the full amps?
Or is there a good quality cable 2-3M out there just waiting for me to find it?
From my experience of buying Micro USB cables for use whilst driving and charging the phone.
All apart from the supplied Samsung cable are useless and don't deliver the 1900 mah charge.
I have lots of Mini USB cable or various lengths which I don't use any more.
So, I decided to buy a micro to mini USB adapter.
I bought it from Amazon UK http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mini-Micro-Adapter-Charger-Converter/dp/B008CAH5NA/ref=sr_1_1/275-7996231-0241748?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1373119829&sr=1-1&keywords=micro+to+mini+adapter Other suppliers will have them.
It works perfectly on any mini cable I attach it to, cheap retractable's to long length cable, giving 1900 mah all the time.
I've since bought another 2.
If you buy one of the above, you might need to remove some plastic from the end that fits into the phone, as it can slip out of the phone when tugged.
That only effected the first one I bought, not the other two.
It's easy it fix, just use a sharp knife in the joint seem of the plastic, to separate both halves, file off any excess plastic and close the plastic case around the metal work, it will relock into place.
In my opinion, for the price it's worth buying at least one.
I found a 10' cable (~3M) that charges at the same 1.9 rate as the stock cable.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43321912#post43321912
You might want to consider monoprice. Have used their HDMI cables for years. Got a buddy in TV for 35 years who has used their cables at the network forever. They're also very reasonable. Their premium cable (6ft) will set you back $3 US +shipping.

And for the cables.. Live in Norway, so tried to find some sellers who ship here...
Seems like I need to look more into that after my vacation :silly:

I just got my S4 and my existing set up does not deliver the needed current. I am not surprised the existing cable did not work since it was a flat wire that I pulled from a retractable setup. It looked nice running up my dash. Now I have to find a replacement. I only need about 50 centimeters or about 20 inches.
Any suggestions?
Mediabridge micro usb 2.0 cables on Amazon are high grade cables. I've purchased a couple of them.
I'll find a link for you.
Link found:

They have a couple of sizes. I purchased the 6 foot cables.
*Note:
Not all cases accept the size of the usb connector though, as it is slightly larger than the stock cable, without notification.
