I downloaded the stock ics firmware not the jb firmware and was from samfirmware
Dan
1st boot after ODIN flash takes a while.... Worse when you change OS from ICS to JB....
If it takes longer than 15 minutes though, Hold down power and up volume, reboot to recovery and wipe cache/data. This should fix it...
Any idea how to flash the otas from samfirmware?
Thanks
You will need CWM i think to flash the OTA, you mean the over the air update which are 200 mb or so in size

Yes i tried with cwm and mobile odin but i get an error have no idea how to flash the the ota
Dan
OTA's are a pain, you must have the OTA for your region and must be the right one for your firmware. Trying to flash an OTA for another region will result in errors...
Why dont you just change the CSC code to the region of firmware you flash and you will autmatically get OTA

i tried this but doesnt seem to pick up any otas. has anyone found a firmware that they have been able to flash the otas from samfirmware?
Thanks
If there an OTA for that country it will pick up if you are on JB then it wont pick up OTA as there have been none after it was released

hey guys im running a rooted stock JB on my note 10.1, and now im getting OTA updates... would it be okay to just unroot my note 10.1 and download the update, than root it again?
Because it looks like this update will help improve stability.
Any advice?

You might find, some do, that the OTA will fail. If this happens then you need to go to Sammobile, download the rom for your region and flash using ODIN. You shouldn' t loose anything this way but not promising anything s accidents do happen...

I'm still kinda new with rom flashing and this sammobile website, are you able to tell me a simple step on how to find the rom for my region on that website?
oh nevermind i think i found it, but I may need your help on installing it. I do have Odin but do I have to extract the zip file first? anyway I'm installing it now...

|Follow the Odin instructions .
Odin uses tar files that are often zipped for download so extract to a tar .

If got the update and 4.2.2 is terrible. So I would like to know how to downgrade back to 4.1.1. There probably is a way to do it through Odin (which would be preferred) and if there is, can you give me the links to the downloads.

Did you try a wipe data/cache in recovery mode? This should help a lot, after I did the new 4.2.2 is not so bad, is at least "good" ad the 4.1.2.

No root before flashing. But if you flash the stock rom via Odin, you will need to root it again.
If you can find a flashable zip, then yes, you can use a recovery.
But OP simply wants to return to stock 4.1.1. You can get back to complete stock setup with the Odin process.
Search online for exact procedures.
a lot of users are having this problem and if you want to receive an OTA you have to flash the stock unrooted firmware that will cause lose of data.
this guide will show you how to receive OTA again without losing your stuff
This works on GT-I9500 ONLY! (Lollipop 5.0.1 Recovery)
This also should work on any other model, but you have to replace the recovery with your model!
Steps:
1- Go to SuperSU and scroll down to "Full unroot" then reboot.
2- Download This file to PC and extract it.
3- Go to download mode by pressing the power key + home key + volume down key at the same time, then press volume up.
4- Flash the file via Odin (AP) or (PDA)
go to check the system status, you will find it Official
you can now receive OTA.
Q&A:
What is OTA (Over The Air)? Its an update which you can receive over wifi or mobile data.
What do i get from OTA? Well, if you root your device you wont be able to receive an update again, unless from flashing firmware via Odin.
- Why im still on custom status? Because you modified your system.
- What kind of modifying? Installing busybox, editing or deleting or changing any app or file system.
and some times xposed.
- How do i restore the old app? You can restore them by flashing firmware or by restoring Nandroid backup.
- Then what is the use of your guide? Well my guide helps in first place the rooted not the modded onces.
and always do Nandroid of the original system apps+data
you are still having your apps, data, pics, vids, etc...
you can root again at anytime.
check my thread for rooting if you want
im not responsible for any bricks
thank you...

At some point the update maybe canceled, because the update checks for the apps before the installation, always do a backup of your phone then remove what you want, after you want to update just restore the system folder from the backup

So i need to unroot it as well ? Anyway flashed via odin original stock russian lollipop rom just to check for any update and the flashed twrp and rooted it back. Just that it takes 10 mins or more to do all this. Thought your small flash file would work .

Is this available for Gt-i9505 version
Is this available for GT-i9505 version?
1. Flash stock XEO 4.4.4 via odin - https://mega.co.nz/#!P5hnwYLR!TVpG0qvOOMpZI-87i7y23KUFDda-XfSEvinzKp3vVvM
2. Copy this to external card then flash via stock recovery(update.zip) - https://mega.co.nz/#!ccJ0hBaJ!GJMhe6oJD1y1q6ruP90DqZfCy39YTPVr7eoc9vgBOKc
Full wipe is recommended before updating
Update:
Here's what I did:
because of several times reflashing the XEO stock 4.4.4 via mega and still ending up on ITV CSC, I manually find a custom ROM with MULTI CSC with XEO on it, and the best ROM for it is Masik 1.2, it lets you flash the CSC's via aroma, after it, flash the XEO via odin again, you'll see there that you are on XEO CSC, full wipe and clear cache, reboot. You'll receive the update immediately. I'm downloading it now..

i'm only confused here because the update size is enormous. i mean why? the size looks like a ROM in itself
edit: ok the puzzle is solved.
first file is kitkt 4.4.4 base and the second file is lolipop update
the update.zip is broken. it'll wont copy after download nor will test the zip.
there after simply go to backup and reset. and clean format your device.
restart. get into home screen. sign in to google account. and restart.
now check for updates and you will get that 990mb update of lollipop
install the update and you are a lollipop user
It's a new operating system not a few bug fixes

I don't know which firmware Austria is supposed to download. I think it's based on carrier anyway.
