I'm running viper 2.3.2 and elemental 3.0 kernel. Battery life is ok. I'm thinking its s2w. Can anyone confirm?

s2w will affect battery life because the phone has to monitor the capacitive buttons. Try turning it off and seeing if your battery life improves.
I am using Elemental and my battery is about average but I'm oc'd and have s2w on.

I'm underclocked. I might try to disable it

I'm not to worried about speed as the nexus s seems way faster then my old vibrant. So which rom kernel is everyone running to get the best battery life!
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
kernel: Netarchy's 1.3.0.5-CFS for sure.
ROM: i use CM7 and battery life is fine for me.
the biggest battery saver is to use BLACK colors. they don't use any power on super amoled screens (applies to I9020 models only)

Folks,
On my desire running oxygen I worked out my standard current draw objective, 6-10mA in standby with about 40mA playing mp3s. All readings with battery monitor widget.
With the one XL it seems to pull about 40-50mA in standby and about 60mA when playing mp3s on stock with apex launcher.
Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on their best battery use in standby with either a stock or custom ROM.
Cheers.

I used to wonder the same thing. I've found Viper to be the best for standby time. I'm in class from 8:15 to 4:10 and only lose 9% battery on average during that time. Keep in mind, this is very light usage.

Tanner,
Mate that sounds pretty good. Do you have any idea on the mA draw when you've got it in standby over that period?
I probably won't match your idle time, but it'd be a good benchmark.
Forgot to ask if you're sitting on 4G for that time.

Best thing I have ever realized. Undervolting. Right now with viper and beast mode kernel (Supporting Undervolting) I am able to make it through the whole day as a extremely heavy user at full brightness.
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda premium
Yeah undervolting is the way to go. Who needs full clock speed at idle.
Is the beast mode kernel the only undervolt supporting kernel?

Hi guys, I was just wondering which ROM is the best for battery life. I am looking for any AOKP based ROM like Bruces CM10. I've heard that Android Revolution HD is the best battery life ROM, but I don't like the theme that its based on HTCs stock rom. Any suggestions for good ROMs for battery life?
I'm currently on Bruces CM10, lasts approximately 12 hours with about 2hrs and 30 minutes on screen usage (medium).
Try out a few different roms and see what works best for you. I like paranoid Android personally but you need to try out several roms and see which gives you personally the best battery life. Hope this is helpful. Best wishes. Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda premium
Thank you, however could anyone tell me which ROM out of these two has the best battery life?
[ROM][Sense 4.1][11.11] Team Venom: ViperS 1.4.0
or
[KernelTUNER ] [4.1.2][ v.12 ][OS-2.54] OFFICIAL ParanoidAndroid
not everyone uses the standard battery.
you better self test.
is also more fun

Been using ARHD 6.8.0 on a Sensation and the other half's XE. Using sebastianFM kernel.
Slight undervolt and running at up to 1.5ghz. It goes easily a full day of moderate to heavy use. Can get 2 with light use.

Ah I do like the sound of that but I just don't like the stock look of that ROM.
it really depends on how you configure your phone and the kernel to preserve more battery life.

Yeah, at the moment I put my brightness on the lowest, turn wifi off when I can, and undervolted to 1024Ghz and I can just manage about 2 and a half of hours medium usage over a span of 12 hours.
Oh Iv been hearing about Virtious Inquistion ROM, hows the battery on that?
Also the ViperS 1.4.1 rom, can someone give me an insight to the battery on that?

Does it mean battery drain of sultan is a big prob ? Or it has just a bit more battery drain?

pyd x is optimised for better battery life and yes battery drain is high on sultan acc to me but speed is super
My kernel can either have more battery drain or less battery drain depending on what settings you choose for things like the GPU frequency, CPU frequency, etc.

If you can optimize batter drain without decreasing performance it would be great

Technically my kernel is already optimized for battery because I removed a lot of useless junk that takes up power/resources/space that other kernels have. The only thing in my kernel that isn't optimized for power efficiency is the WiFi chip voltage increase, but that doesn't drain much power and it's quite useful.

i used same settings 300 3d /2d ?/intelly/1.2 mgz on faux with stable 100uv and battery drain was very less but on your kernel it drains fats and the intelly demand works better on flax but dont on your kernel as it uses more 810 and 972 and all frequencys avaible but your uses more max and less other and not all DONT KNOW WHY as it is faux based and also my bench mark is almost the same with 1.5 aroma and kernel tuner 1.7 oc only 200 difference an show u pic but huge difference on faux .can u tell me why

Hi.You can try Elegancia v3.7.0 (last rom) with sultan kernel and try different governor and scalling range for cpu(with intellidemand governor 384min 1188max for me,very good battery life).Or if you want a JB rom try albinoman`s rom with max cpu 1188 ,badass governor and 2nd phase freq set to 810(now i try and other settings on this rom for best battery life).
