Second post has everything you need. Both the kernel with cwm and root files.

Don't think that Superoneclick will root gingerbread. Dr honks modified gb kernels will auto root and give you cwm.

Nowadays I tend to only check here twice a day. Busy busy days now. =/.
But Chad, to answer your question, if you're gonna root, you might as well try out some of the custom gingerbread roms we have on this forum. There are Audiophile, valhalla and ICBINB. There are differences to all of them so make sure you read up on which you might wanna flash.
Superoneclick can't root our phones on Gingerbread, so you'll need to flash a custom GB kernel as Exodian recommended.
If you want you can follow my GB starter pack guide from step 7 on so you can prepare your phone for having ext4 and a gingerbread rom of your choice without issues.

No you don't have to root if you want stock gingerbread. Use Kies mini. We don't have ICS yet. To flash Valhalla you will need to root and a custom kernel. Look at the guide in the first link of my signature.

So, flashing to gingerbread is less risky than rooting and flashing to Valhalla... Can you give me the link for the guide to upgrade to gb?

Then you are out of luck. Most of the files were hosted on megaupload affiliate's and when it went down so did the files.
Make sure your contacts are backed-up on your sdcard/google and upgrade to gingerbread you will be happier.

Why are you keeping yourself stuck on Froyo? You prefer being 3 years behind?
Use the link provided by eollie, its the best out their.
My advice, go to gingerbread as it has better drivers, kernel, signal, and a much bigger application /market support. use the link provided above, Don't forget to Thank eollie
Ok

It's pretty simple http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448887
Also if your phone is running D80010o firmware, flash back to stock D80010d firmware before rooting. Otherwise you might have issues when flashing certain roms.
