[Tool] Official flash tool for unlocked Xperia devices (beta) - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hi devs,
Today we have released a beta version of our new flash tool for Xperia devices. With this tool, you can flash standard Sony software on you Xperia™ smartphone with an unlocked boot loader. This is the first time we provide a way to go from a custom ROM to a Sony software, for those of you who would like that. Note that the boot loader still stays unlocked, and just like before the warranty may still be voided.
Since this is a beta version, only a limited number of phone models and software versions are supported to start with, but we plan to add support for more models going forward.
We are really eager to hear what you think about this initiative. Is this a useful service? And what phone models and software would you like to see support for in the future? Please share your opinion in this thread!

A big and great step. hope other manufacturers learn something from this.
these are the reasons why I never bought a single phone other than Sony Ericsson, There was always a lot to mod/customize even in feature phones :good:

How to get this to work if you unlocked the Bootloader using Testpoint Method?
Gesendet von meinem Xperia Arc S mit Tapatalk 2

How is this different to the original Flashtool, SEUS or PC Companion? I'd much prefer to see Sony provide an easier way to root a stock ROM than another form of what's already available.
Sent from myushi

I don't own any Sony phone (read this on Swedroid) but it should be possible to get the bootloader locked again...

Wow thats cool....eventhough im using stock rom right now, but this tool can make me safe if anything gone pissoff on my custom rom... Now i can install other rom without worrying cannot get stock rom officialy back....waiting for my devices to be available soon

It looks like "flashtool" on XDA requires you to have a firmware package. This sony "flash tool" will download the firmware for you. (This is the disadvantage of using such generic software names. ) It looks kind of similar to Samsung Kies, except unlike Kies, it's specifically able to return a modified device to stock, whereas Kies becomes useless if the phone has had any changes made from stock firmware (even, in the case of the Infuse, if Samsung pulls an official update due to issue reports - anyone who accepted the pulled update was unable to update to the final version of Gingerbread for a LONG time.)
Not familiar with SEUS or PC Companion - are those officially released to the public, or just "internal" tools that have made their way out (like Samsung Odin)?

Stripped down Emma, very good.
However, the Developer World domain has old FWs. Hopefully that gets sorted soon!

Cool
wow.a very good step.hope you guys will add more device option. :good:

Why dont u work together with the original "Flashtool of xda"? They have made a really good and multiplatform tool since 2010, was originaly for the x10 and now is for almost all xperia devices, is a lot of effort and you come here and release almost the same thing. You should provide your server for them, dont take me wrong and please consider it.

SEUS is sony ericsson update service, now is called SUS (just sony) and PC Companion is the same thing but more featured, they are both official sony product released to public, SUS is just older but both online and working
The odin equivalent is EMMA, but is sony internal soft, no public acces chance ^^

I guess something like that will come in handy for some People, but I will just continue to use the generic ftf's and the Flashtool found here on XDA when I need to update.

Official software...
Sony Ericsson Update Service
PC Companion
...I suppose Sony on their own requires something new, but SEUS could have been renamed and tweaked a little to accommodate for custom ROMs already being installed.

Good news for our that have unlock sony device with official method...sony learn to understand what their customers want, and it's good.
But a stupid question: Why sony does not make available the opportunity to re-lock the bootloader and get back the DRM rights? I mean, if an user decides to return to the stock rom, maybe would also like his DRM rights back, to use fully (for example) walkman with download album art or Movie apps download info...etc...
This thing is not possible? Might be an idea for those who restores the original ROM and rights...

Nice Software i have test it with the sexplay and i have one question what fw is that what me EMMA show:
Play_Test Software Update Content Refresh Developer World
there are no informations.

A very nice initiative.......
Would love to see support for all 2011 phones as well....

..maybe! Sony have confirmed that NO JELLY BEAN UPDATE for our xperia 2011...

Well, that was one way to downgrade the phone...
I didn't read the version numbers correctly in the tool. I assumed that I would automatically get the very latest available version for my Arc S. Instead I installed 2.3.4 (which Sony for some reason calls 4.0.2.A.62).
Am I just stupid or is this tool useless in this current beta version?

Ah, so it sounds like SUS and PC Companion are similar to Kies in that they might not work too well when trying to go "from" a modified software?

Yes, but i'm from italy.. how i can update??
Why Update?
- According tot he Sony Site the ROM has 50 MB Free Ram
- Stock Is laggy ( said on comments )
Just install AVD Rom and get a premium Honami feel or install Paranoid Android 3
I have heard that .33 FW is smoother than .31 so i want to try it too but im from india! No updates available here

First it is the best ROM on locked bootloader. Supercharged and crapless are two more motivations.
take a few days on it and you would not want to return to any of the ROMs.. Hell CM10 is laggy compared to this.
So my advice to you guys is go for AVD http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2309415
Only tricky part is swapping kernels for CWM.rest is smooth. All the backups of Titanium worked.

Dude why waste your precious time on Stock when you can use AVD keeping your Warranty intact.
OR you can backup your DRM keys ( search TA Backup in forum ) and unlock Bootloader for testing custom kernels and thus huge number of ROMs.
How will a developer get the momentum if nobody is going to test their work.
Besides XJ is damn hard to brick I tried every method and mine didnt brick so bye bye Warranty
Only thing these DRM keys give are TrackID and NeoReader and some other unused feature. I mean NFC is not in XJ .
I went Pro stock to Anti stock in two days
11.2.A.0.33 Arabic FTF did not boot
I installed the mentioned FTF file (Arabic) and it does not boot at all. I used the latest Flashtool. The device still has Flash Mode and Fastboot mode working.

this one proves that sony is looking after our device
and keeping updated
my experience says that we will receive 4.4 direct we may miss 4.3
as you can see many devices has missed 4.2.2 and got 4.3 direct
so when z family hits 4.4 we will be very close to have the same

No, it doesn't as they ignore us and doesn't fix fatal bugs. Don't be so ignorant...
If Mediatek doesn't bring kitkat or 4.3 to our SoC Sony can't do anything about it you know. And I'm sorry to say this but I don't think we will ever see a 4.4 or 4.3 update unfortunately.

I think we will probably get KITKAT!!! There are more chances of kitkat than 4.3 as AOSP sources of KIKAT have been alredy released by sony....
Come on brothers !!!! If Xperia M has got Android 4.3 it means our device will get 4.3 or higher(most likely) .
And remember Sony has us in AOSP project so KitKat sources are already ready , just wait till all Sony devices start getting 4.4 ,in that very timeline we will get ours, bcoz it doesn't make sense updating a mid-range device before flagships. (ZL, ZR,Zetc).
But also I don't think that you know , XM was updated before us so , even we may get ours before flagships

Firstly, the good news is there is an update coming for Xperia L which seems to be a bug fixing update. 15.3.a.1.1.6
It hopefully will be last try from the Sony to clear bugs from the current stock ROM.
Xperia M was announced in May2013 compared to March 2013 for Xperia L.
Usually a mid-range device receives updates for a year from Sony so it seems unlikely we might be pushed to 4.4.
If Xperia L KitKat was coming, they wouldn't release buggy premature source for Kitkat. The source code is always released after the ROM has been completed and is sent out to devices !
Doing that, they not only kept many people quite to show how friendly Sony is to developers but in the mean time, it bought them time so they can come up with an excuse later that 'a year of spupport' has been given!
I am sorry to disappoint you and I hope I am wrong, but a KitKat update seems very unlikely especially with their new devices being released so naturally they would be looking to discontinue support for many others!

Talking about all this is waste of time!!! And be content as there is no big change from 4.2.2 so Sony doesn't probably want to waste development time for Android 4.3 , remember 4.2.2 UI was first seen on Xperia L , before SP , M ,V,T etc.
So we can even think a higher version is already in development
Sent from my C2104 using Tapatalk
Xperia L will get Android 4.4 Kitkat update directly..
In May 2014, Xperia Z series will get 4.4 update, after that Xperia SP and after that Xperia L..
Lol I don't think so. I doubt it'll be 4.3, just maybe 4.4 but I really can't say. Like Hnk1 said, it's '1 year period' is over. It would be surprising if there's another major update, but i wouldn't expect it. All I can ask for is that the '1.16' update clears out all the bugs for us.

"N/A" while fetching latest release under FlashTool

Hi,
I'm currently in a little mess. I was under ExistenZ and I want to try the latest 7.1.1 Nougat. So I relock my bootloader in order to flash the .223 via Flashtool.
When I'm trying to download the firmware via XperiFirm, I click on "Chek all" and I have always "N/A" instead of see the firmware number :/
I'm under Linux Mint 18.
Any hint to bypass this problem ?
Thanks in advance

Why did you relock your bootloader though? I don't think this is a required step.

Well then I don't know how to fix that problem.
If you want though...
I have uploaded 6.0.1 / 7..0 and 7.1.1 Firmwares for both Xperia XZ and Xperia XZ Dual to my google drive.
If you wish to use it here is the link to the folder: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1-5Lr_Sntl5bzU2eEZCaFA3azg
I don't remember exactly from which countries the firmwares I downloaded and uploaded there are.
Most are either Dutch or Customized Germany firmwares.
Otherwise if you want a different specific firmware, you'll have to figure out a way to download it yourself

Xpericheck.com also put links to ftf of some variants, so this can e used as a substitute for not working xperifirm. The country variants doesn't differ much - mostly by the number of preloaded apps (some have facebook/spotify/avg installed as system apps) and by type of icons shown (nfc icon, lte vs. 4g icon, in NOBA you have icon indicating 2g/3g/4g even while roaming).
