The best way to increase internal memory is by partitioning your sd card which requires root.
Otherway if u dont wanna root u can try this thread

internal alive
U need to root and install custom rom(or)
go to your application and "clear data". May be its give some free space

I also face these problems. Straight forward solution is reset ur device if don't worry about the data of applications.
This will happen in many situations. The following a thing I face.
1. When receiving data through blue tooth its fail in the middle. The partial data I received will still kept in the phone memory itself. But clearing the date of the blue tooth sharing application will cleared that memory. No cache cleaning will help me.
2. Application failed when installing from market also cause the same problem I too not able to clear the temp data. But installing application again from market only clear all the data on success of installation.
3. If ur are a root use some application for clear dalvick cache. 4. Last but not lease try some custom rom.
If the above information helps u click on thanks.

Help Please Market out of space cache Problem

Hello everybody
I have a big problem since 2 weeks with my sdcard / app2ext.
It starts with fjfalcon cyanogen mod but i come back to miui final the last week (for holiday i needed a good camera...) and it s the same.
My problem is that when i want to install or update an app(by the market) it keep saying that i haven t sufficient space...Superuser update by itself (not by the market) and it works
But i have 1Go of ext (at least half empty) and i also have a lot of space in the internal memory (even in my fat32 i have at least 3Go...)
So why i m lacking of space???
I try to wipe dalvik cache but it s the same cause it rebuild it at boot.
But when i go in the cache folder by root explorer i can see that i have 105Mb used and only 300Ko free..
I try to reformat only the ext it still the same i also clear all my sd and start over (but copying back all my apps to the ext part) but nothing change too... I also delete my swap partition cause i never use it but it can t be the problem
Someone have an idea??? I format my sd 3times this week... I don t have anymore idea......
edit i forget to says that i use app2ext with an ext3 part but i try ext4 or ext2 and it s the same
the space the market error is complaining about is the Cache, nothing to do with your physical storage
CM6 is fixed to prevent that bug
sounds like CM7 or MIUI ports the guys are working on has not been tweaked with enough cache for the Download cache for Market

I try cm7 and now i m back to the old khalpowers miui v 2 and nothing change...
I never had any issue with this rom and i used to have more than 150 apps installed now i only have 75apps but no more space... i can t understand why!

Thanks but that was the first thing i try... But i never wipe only the cache (i wiped dalvik cache also) so i m trying it right now...
But just to be clear i reinstall others rom many times (4 or 5 times) so i always clear all....
edit: it s the same... My cache is still full (100Mb full 5 M free) after the wipe of the cache
@AllGamer
3Gb free on sd and 50Mb in the internal storage.....

??? And how???????????
I search it but i didn t find anything talking about this in the cm7 thread...
But i install the 18/11 version of your rom and it s the same.
I think the only choice i have is to delete all my sd and start all over... But i can t understand why... The cache is not in the sd!
I would suggest exploring your ext partition and see if you have any duplicates in there. Otherwise, to me it seems like you have a ghost in the machine. I always hate to do this and hate suggesting it, but might be time for a reformat and fresh sbf/flash straight to CM7 and not overlay any other ROM.
Wait a minute. Do you have a cache cleaner app (Cache Cleaner NG is good b/c it removes cache from internal and SDcard - Cachemate is another one)? I am thinking that you might have too much built up cache. Example, you go into your XDA app and check out some threads, screenshots,...that all builds up useless cache. Go into settings>manage apps>your app and clear the cache. I have seen my market hold up to 5mb and my XDA app hold almost 70+mb of cache. I am really thinking that may be the culprit.

Good idea i m gonna try cache cleaner. But i hope i will be able to install it.....
But for the fresh reformat/flash sbf i already did this that s why i don t understand at all.
I reflash sbf. Install a new rom and clear all the cache / Dalvik cache... (all that at least 3 times....)
The only thing i didn t format is the sd card. Indeed i format it, make new fat32 and ext and copy all my old fat 32 and ext data.
I didn t want to loose all my ext apps but i think i don t have the choice now. But i m not even sure that it will solve my problem...
Cache cleaner don t work too...
it succeed to wipe all but nothing change i still have only 4mb left... (by root explorer). And it seems to be the dalvik cache folder which is full
I can t understand how this folder can stay full after a fresh sbf flash a wipe and a new rom....
To me it seems that if you are reformatting and then restoring, you are essentially restoring the problem. Try reinstalling apps with Titanium.

I think so too...
That s why that is pissing me off
I will have to format my sd and start over from beginning but i still can t understand why i already have a lots more apps so why whit less app i m lacking of space???
I couldn t wait any longer so i format my sd card
Now i havent anymore apps but all works...
But if someone understand why i had this.....
You should be able to restore most apps with TB. Sucks that you had to reformat. So frustrating, I know and have been there myself. Different problem but same result. The dreaded reformat. Maybe sometimes that is just what is needed. Bummer though.

I explain it in the rom's thread but i didn t restore any apps for the moment (i can t install titanium backup...) it s a fresh installation on a fresh sbf and a clear sd (only with an ext part and an app folder in it)
And i can t install any app by the market or with an apk.
On the others thread someone tell me about a Mz tip to make it work by deleting the secure folder on the sd (but i can t too cause i can t install root explorer...)
Too bad the rom seems fast! And so pretty too! Maybe i will try to install another rom to install root explorer on the ext and come back

Market FC may be caused by .android_secure folder on sdcard. You can't delete it directly from the phone, though (you have to use USB). But if you reformatted the FAT partition, the old one shouldn't be there unless you copied/restored it from a backup.

Updating apps: Insufficient storage available

Hi folks,
Can anyone help me with this problem...
Nexus S I9020, Android 4.0.4 IMM76D
I'm getting the message "Insufficient storage available" when trying to update a couple of apps (Tapatalk, 4.26MB, and Go Launcher EX, 5.86MB) from the Play Store, yet I have over 350MB of free internal storage. All my apps are installed to internal storage.
I've cleared way more app cache from other apps (Gmail, Maps, Music) than the download sizes for these apps, yet both of these apps stubbornly refuse to update.
Rebooting hasn't worked.
Where on earth is Android running out of storage?
Using ES File Explorer, I don't seem to have a <root>/data/apps folder - <root>/data is empty.
Many thanks.

This is an individual app problem right? just this one app doesn't work, but others do? try a different kernel or a complete wipe, if still doesn't work, try a different version or different rom/ Hope this helps!
Are you using some kind of patching software to remove ads??

When I first got my android and didn't know better this would happen when I downloaded a "free" version of an app from online somewhere. When I learned more and wanted to supoort devs i removed the app and tried to get it ledgit from the market I would get that error. Not implying anything Just my experience.
Try to clear market data if that doesn't work might have to do a full wipe before getting that particular app.

Hi guys,
Thanks for getting back to me.
I'm not using any patching/ad suppression apps. No tweaks or trick configurations or rooting going on here - stock 4.0.4 and nothing else.
This is something both my wife (she has a NS too but with over 600MB of free internal storage) and I come across regularly when updating apps which I normally work around by clearing the app cache of the three apps I mentioned but this time it was particularly stubborn.
However I set about clearing the cache of all apps that wouldn't need a whole load of configuration afterwards and this then allowed the apps to update, so it does seem to be an storage space issue. But where could the phone possibly be running out of space when, as I say, I have over 350MB of free internal storage?
And... why would Chrome browser create an app cache of over 90MB!
Thanks again.

Solved your problem yet? I was also experienced this and found from another thread in this forum that wiping cache from Recovery Mode solves the problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562962&page=2
No solution. I just go through the hoops every update of clearing the app data of Gmail, Maps, Music and Chrome Beta.
Recovery mode doesn't work for me as I'm running stock Android 4.0.4 with stock recovery and no root. I just get the red triangle when I go into recovery.

The only way to wipe dalvik cache without root would be to factory reset your phone as cache and dalvik get cleared during this process.
Stock cache cleaner
I had the same problem; just found this free app that does the app cache wipe on the Play Store:
App Cache Cleaner, free, size 250KB

Normally you can clear caches and it will work otherwise uninstall the app and reinstall. If you have to uninstall make a data backup first. What it equates to is the app dev didnt put a call in to remove the app prior to installing the new version. Ive run into this with Plague Inc. and Ive sent a bug report to the app dev. I suggest the same for whatever app you are having issues with.
I've tried the whole "clear your caches and fix your permissions" thing, and, at least from what I can tell, you can't install anything through Play/Market unless you have at least ~55 MB of space available (even if you are installing to microSD or replacing a currently installed app). I'm not sure quite where the threshold is, but it is somewhere around there.
I can't answer "Why?" as it is in Google proprietary code and I don't have the source available.
I have tried clearing caches and dalvic.. also reinstalled gapps.. can't get it to work..

Have you cleared data from Google Services Frameworks? That has fixed every market issue I've ever run into. If jeff is saying it's coded to not let you install with under 55mb of space left I believe him though.
I can't be sure it's "coded that way," but I haven't found a way to get Play/Market to install when I get down somewhere below 60 MB free space, including flashing a new ROM, clearing cache, fixing permissions, reinstalling gapps, and probably a few other things I've tried. There are definitely days when I wish someone would prove my theory wrong!
I believe Jeff no doubt but I have 66.1mb available..

Can you clear the Google Services Frameworks without removing important info he has put in the apps, or will it delete any apps?. Sorry for my ignorance of the Android system.

This worked for me, thank you !!
I was having trouble installing UberSocial. I could download and install every other app (smaller and bigger in file size) except for UberSocial.
Tried the Lucky Patcher method and worked like a charm.
BTW, I should mention I have a rooted S3 but found this thread via Google .
The Jelly bean rom takes up a lot internal memory, plus it installs most of the apps from the market to the internal memory instead of SD card. I don't why, maybe the devs can answer this. I had to remove the xbmc app (97mb) in order to install anything else.
Hit the thanks button if it helps. It's my motivator to be more helpful.
I use Titanium to move all data apps to SD, I also use History Eraser before updating apps so that at all times I have over 110MB free on internal mem.
