Today I tried using King Kangers One kernel .12 on liquid smooth RC9.
It seemed to perform ok but my network reception disappeared completely.
Liquid smooth says it's an AOSP Rom, and King Kangers One kernel says it's for AOSP Roms, so any suggestions as to why this would happen?
I'm trying to use it to get the battery life of the badass governor, as I find mine is dying pretty fast on the interactive. Any suggestions of how to make this kernel, a different kernel, or the liquid smooth kernel that comes with it get great battery life with decent performance?
Thanks a lot.

Try rebooting. I lose my signal periodically after flashing something, and a reboot (and/or checking the APN settings) fixes it.
Thanks so much for the help. I reinstalled it expecting the same result, expecting to reboot and hopefully solve the problem.
However when I reinstalled it, out started up perfectly fine and seems to be running perfectly fine on badass with frequency down to 192. I don't know if that's the best setting but I guess I'll find out.

I use Wheatley and a 192/1350 frequency setting with the same kernel. Haven't noticed any ill effects.

Sounds good, I'm going to try that out. I'm thinking that makes sense. The majority if my phone use is talk, text, email, web, navigation and occasional YouTube. So I'm thinking there's no point in cranking it up to the standard 1500, unless it seems slow at 1350. Extra battery life is definitely preferable!

After one day off testing the new kernel and settings I can definitely say that it wasn't going well at all.
It was performing fine, battery life was good, then about early evening after using it all day it lost reception.
I restarted a couple times and it returned. Then I had signal but had no call audio being sent or received, I tried both on Bluetooth and standard handset.
After flashing liquid smooth again to get the original kernel again it's all working well.
I just set the interactive processor speeds a little lower to help with battery drain.

hey guys just rooted now im looking for a great stock kernel that i can overclock and UC. Any suggestions.
I am stock root and use Adrynalyne's kernals. For me they work great and help with battery alot..

thanks for the quick reply. I thank you!
I'm using battery sipper or w/e its called
hey what kind of setup do you have...should i have it ondemand?
Most people use on demand or smartass. Test them out and see what works for you
I've been trying to use Adrynalyne's kernels because they feel very snappy, but I'm having radio issues with those kernels, so I've switched back to Drod's and it's been rock solid for me. Also seeing the best battery life from Drod's kernel as well.
Here's a vote for imoseyons kernel also used in the TeslaCoil rom. I've had great experience with them and great battery life too.

I'm using this one. Going to use it for a week to truly test it out, but loving it so far.
Nothing to test, the kernels are amazing, hes even testing out audio boosting on them now so the in call volume will go higher.
Hi,
Is there a ROM comparison chart somewhere for Nexus S?
I'm looking forward to a ROM, which is:
based on 2.3.4.
has a notification power widget.
has 3G SIP calling.
(sort of) stable.
fast.
Some nice to have features:
Lock-screen tweaks.
Battery percentage hack.
Permission management.
Any ideas?
CM7 nightly seemed to be a good choice, but it freezes time to time.
I am using infin1ty. Solid as a rock and fast too.
I think it fulfils your wish list.

Thanks for the tips! I've just flashed the latest infin1ty.
There are some nice touch, like working Video Chat and a nice Battery icon, but two things bug me:
Skype crashes
Seems laggy to me a little, even laggier when CM7 nightly.
I'll keep trying it and we'll see...
Balázs
I've been running Infin1ty for a few days, upgraded to the new version this morning and really no lag on my end. Hated the battery icon so built a new one in UOT Kitchen and now it's looking good.

no idea about skype.
i played arround a bit with the cpu settings (No-frills CPU control) and voltage settings (proton) and i got a really smooth fast and stable rom. so just give it a try
I prefer CM7 never had any freezing issues.
I use with ogdobber 2.3.4 kernel

Not to mention I haven't experienced ANY stability issue as of yet!

Just give them all a test ride and see which one you like best. I'm on superasop ATM and so far it's been the snappiest rom I've tried. Still not perfect though.
It has everything in your list though.

Use benchmark in the android market.
Just to give this a bump as I'm looking for the same thing as OP but would like to know more about what everyone thinks. I m on cm7.0.3 atm and its really frustrating how it restarts out of the blue or gets into a bootloop. with the features listed by the OP, which rom is the most stable?
Good idea...
SuperAosp has been really, really good to me. I did an original wipe and reinstall a month ago, and it is has been really good and snappy ever since, even through non-wipe upgrades to ROM.

I'm using ZuluZulu rom, fast and stable. Tried lot of cm based roms but this one is almost no random reboot like cm.

I've just flashed SuperAosp. First impressions:
Really nice icons and theme.
Nice animations!
Video chat is nice, but it works only one way. I can see both myself and the called party on the phone, but the called party cannot see me on Gmail. Might not be related to the ROM, though.
ROM Manager is crashing. I can live without that app, though.
Very laggy. I expect the operating system to react immediately, but sometimes it lags for 1 sec or more when the system is busy. This is most probably due to I/O scheduling issues.
I'll probably give other ROMs a try as well.

I've tested ZuluZulu: I flashed it, factory reset, set my accounts up, started to restore the Apps with Titanium Backup, and all of a sudden, it rebooted.
My first impression was that it is a pretty responsive ROM, but somehow this reboot did not make me happy.

Well even a stock rom gets a random reboot, just give it time. As long as a rom doesn't random hung or reboot in a call that's a keeper for me. Anyway you have your own idea on what you want in a rom. Hope you find one.

I am testing this now, praying the BFS scheduler finally gives me a lag free CM7 experience. Is the minmax governor a better performer than smartass?
I prefer x99's smartass, I think he just tweaked it recently on his github. I think minmax is a older govenor. I also get better battery life with the smartass
I just added minmax for testing purposes and to have more governor options
Thanks for the update will test over the weekend.

Nice, well I tested it to the max for a whole day using gps navigation, wifi, 4g, pretty much everything lol. Data connection also seems better as well.
Soo far everything is working good. My wifi works perfect which I couldn't get to work with x99's kernel no matter how I tried flashing it including a full wipe.
What speed does this kernel boot at? Is there any way you can implement any of Scary's goodies into your kernel? I liked that his let's you do 184 min. Also any way to go higher than 1.5 ghz as I like using 1.8 at times. What is the sleep max on say ondemand etc. Anyway your gonna do undervolting?
Anyway thanks for the kernel and the hard work!

yes as soon as my team member get's back from vaction we'll be working on things like that. So the kernel can be worked on more
I basicly pushed this kernel out as soon as I had it working perfectly
After an hour or so of testing I have experienced no launcher or messenger app lag, whatever you did here its working for me.. I wonder if its the BFS? Do you know if bcnice aosp kernel used this too? His kernel is the only other like this that performed so well..

yes I do think it's bfs. I noticed how well the animations and graphics are so smooth. If I went back to none bfs I don't think I'd like it haha
Not sure about bcnice has it
Don't install this kernel version over the latest nightly, some things like wifi seem to not be working. I'll work on a updated version as I really want to stay up-to-date haha
Updated kernel but I have to remove bfs due to compatibility issues
Soo far everything is running great. I have no issues running 1.8ghz at all if I'm using ondemand governor.
How much did you undervolt? Meaning is it kinda like scary's or more like Bc's or X99's.
Thanks for making a great kernel. Everything works for me perfect.

Most of the changes in the nighties you are not going to notice a whole lot. The biggest changes are changes in the kernel. This kernel was built of the latest nightly kernel just a couple of days ago so it should be compatible with all the nightlies unless they mess with the kernel some more. But cyanogen just tweeted that we will have a rc soon So I'd just wait until then. Also I'm going to take a look at the stock ota update and see if I can hack the kernel and rom for us to intall without the latest hboot
If you haven't already heard about it.. 'SEEDER', new amazing App. Made my phone a good 3x faster. If you are rooted it can be found in the app store. I flashed the .ZIP. You can find it online here. http://www.droid-life.com/2013/01/0...n-nexus-7-and-others-with-seeder-application/

Yes I know this should be in apps and themes but everyone deserves to see this, especially us Tbolt guys.
This has been proven to be a placebo affect. I have tested it for almost 3 days now and it doesn't really help at all. Also someone mentioned in that forum it doesn't work properly with snapdragon processors because the rndg is different than others. If it does help at all I think it would help more for the lag that comes from not rebooting for a long period of time.

Here
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/entropy-seed-generator-not-all-its-hacked-up-to-be/
I have been using it with unsense and it hasn't really improved anything. No difference in performance without it either. Like I said it's a placebo caused by the fact that the tweak actually wakes your processor repeatedly which is why your phone seems to react better. You can use it if you like but it is really just a battery drainer. You can get the same performance increase by setting your governor on performance.

I ran it on nu sense and it drained my battery and noticed no improvement in speed. You see an increase because you want to see an increase. Its like throttle body spacers people puts on their cars. Suppose to improve performance and increase fuel mileage. They do no such thing but make a nice paper weight. People who had them swear they could feel an increase. One guy put his truck on a dyno and tested with it on and with it off. His results was with it on he lost a few hp. This is why butt dynos are so inaccurate because we make our selves believe we can see and feel a difference. When in fact there isn't.

Like I mentioned in my earlier post. It cause a wake lock on the processor making it wake repeatedly which is the likely reason that anyone notices anything. It in no way shape or form affects entropy which was the original intent of the app. Google has also stated that the very issue this is supposed to fix was actually fixed with the release of ICS. Try it on a gb rom and see if it actually works. Also, after you run it for a few days disable it and see if there is a decrease in performance. I've ran it for about three days and there is no difference without it running.

I would like to ask this community for their opinion on which kernel or rom they would recommend, that has good battery life and good performance. Mainly battery life. Mine does occasionally also. If I leave it alone it will cool down rather quickly. I have had to take my case and battery out maybe once or twice but that's about it. I use trickster mod kernel settings and it will show you the cpu temp and battery temp in real time. There are other apps that can do that also but that one seems to be the easiest
