Changing slot cycle index?? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

On my previous Sprint phone, the Hero, I was able to change the slot cycle index through the programming menu, to get rid of ringer lag.
I can't seem to find any threads on doing the same thing for the NS4G. There is one for the Epic 4G, would that maybe work on my phone?
The problem is that some calls coming in don't ring, and I don't see that I had a missed call. I suspect it's because it's ringing the Google Voice server first, but the lag prevents it from ringing my phone in time.

Slot cycle index is only if the call you receive has a delay. The best way to check is to call your cell from a landline and see how many times it rings before your cell rings. If it's 1 or 2 rings, that's not gonna help you at all to change it.
Either way, you need to use QPST to do it, so it's similar to any CDMA phone.

Increase length of ringing before voicemail picks up on Sprint TP2?

I have been looking the forums and the web for a way to increase the time my phone rings before my voicemail picks up. I have found things that work for other carriers, but I don't know it works with sprint. The method I have found is to dial **61*voicemailnumber**N# where N is the length in seconds (max 30) that the phone rings for before the voicemail picks up.
The two issue with this are A) I don't know how to find my voicemail number. I looked in HKEY Current Users -> Software -> Microsoft -> Vmail and then under phoneumber1 and 2, but the values were blank. And B) I tried the above method with my phone number as the voicemail number, and my phone made a couple wierd beeps, and then ended the call. Then I recieved a text message that the code I dialed is either inactive or not in service.
I called tech support and of course they were clueless lol So does anyone know anything?
I just called AT&T and I asked for my ring time to be longer. So they made it 30 seconds. As before it was only 20 seconds. I would love to know if I can make my ringt time even longer.
You know I have often thought about this as well. I also have Sprint and would like to have more than 10 seconds to answer.

Your own phone number is your voice mail number. Also, you can push and hold the 1 key and it will go to your voicemail and from there you can go to personal options...BUT, alas...no way to do it there...dangit! I called Sprint and was told that they cannot change the ring cycle. (as it is referred to as) They suggested that I change to a ringer that is longer. I know that there are ringers in the stock ROM that are longer but I don't recall there being one to suit my taste. Maybe there is for you though. What I am going do is to try to find an MP3 ringer that is longer and to my liking and then save it to the "My Ringtones" folder located in "My Documents". From there I can set it as my ringtone. Hopefully that will work.

Classic case of Stupid Customer Care Representative! Selecting a longer ringtone will not increase the length of the ring. What that is saying, is that I could put together a medley ringtone that lasts 30 minutes and that is how long my phone will ring for. WRONG. call back and get another rep.

ahhaha thats funny!
Whats up psycho!? Didn't expect to see you here.
Just a bump wondering if anyone found a workaround for this. Drives me nuts. I guess there's nothing to be done, it's 100% on sprint's end. I posted something in their customer forums about it. Other people have asked and the answer is always the same. On the iden network you can. On CDMA, you can't. Maybe if they get enough posts in the forum...

I dont think it is possible on CDMA either. You can setup Missed call reminder to play a song

Phone Call Issues

Hello,
So I seem to have issues with my phone calls on both the CM 7 Nightlys, and CM 6.1.2 RC2. Sometimes (multiple times a day) when I go to dial a number, it will say "dialing" but the ringtone never actually dials out. Also sometimes when I go to call it just cancels out of it and says call ended. When ever this happens, i try again several min. later and it works just find. So the problem seems to be intermittent.
Also, I have my phone set up with google voice forwarding and voice mail. I do not make phone calls from it. However, sometimes when people call me, they say that my phone rings before going to voice mail. However, my actual phone does not get the call. This doesnt happen every time, but it does happen often. Ill get a notification from google voice about a missed call, but will have never revieced the call in the first place.
Is anyone else have this problem? Or maybe I have a setting all out of whack or something?
Thanks
I have the same exact problem on my stock phone. Incoming calls will work even though outgoing will not.

I have already tried that.
I have tried that as well..
Im wonder if my having any of my forward when busy etc. settings affect this.. Right now they are all set to forward to my google number, which in tern is the number that the phone itself is linked with on google voice. What should these settings be?
It is so frustrating seeing how many calls I miss\dont recieve because of this.

I cannot make calls with my G2x

This is my second G2x and both have exhibited the same behavior. It will dial a number, whether from the phonebook or the dialer itself, and the phone application will say that it is dialing. After 30 seconds or so, and no ringing on the other end of the line, the call ends itself.
I usually have to enable Airplane mode, then disable it, to be able to make a call. sometimes I have to go as far as rebooting the phone completely after which it may or may not work. Incoming calls fail as well so I am missing quite a few calls and texts...but thhe emails and other data messages come through.
Oddly, data works perfectly regardless of whether the phone is having problems calling. This happens in 2g as well as 4g. I have manually selected 2g and could not call and had the same trouble in WCDMA only mode. I thought it was related to Wifi calling but enabling that has no effect.
Any ideas? I am trying my other line to see if that SIM card is having trouble. I just have no other ideas at this point.

I used to have this problem frequently on my MT3G. Since someone else is having this problem on a different phone, I would guess that it's something software related.
Alright, it is happening on both of my lines. It might be a program that I installed so I am loading them back on one at a time to see if can determine which it is. I am looking at either Google Voice or Beautiful Widgets as likely culprits at this time but there is not certainty. I have also avoided installing Facebook and Twitter. I am able to make calls right now. I will see if this keeps working for the next few hours...maybe through to my morning coffee. I really hope it is an application, something I can do without, because it would be pretty bad if it is the phone. My girl just ordered one of these as well since she likes mine so much.

Happened to me twice today, first in the AM and then again around 2200 central time. i recently started using setcpu so not sure if thats an issue or not. anyone find the app responsible?
Yes, it has happened to me too, usually after it is in standby or idle, and this is my second phone. But my second phone not happens as often as the first one. Reboot is the only way I can get it to work. I notice that the signal is very weak only 1 or 2 bars.
That is a very good point to mention...that it is almost always directly after bringing the phone out of standby. Mine just did it again.
Same problem here. I don't even know how many calls or txts I've missed since.
Had this issue with my N1 and I always chalked it up to cruddy radio and/or coverage. I've since had it on my g2x once or maybe twice I think (had g2x for 3 days now), but at least after it timed out I was able to try again and the call would go through. With my N1 it would never recover unless I toggled airplane mode or sometimes even needed to reboot.
I hope there are some improvements in this area, because bad radio was my biggest gripe with my N1, and i really want to love this phone!

[Q] Where and how increase the time to answer the incoming call

Maybe I've overlooked this option several time or something but when someone is calling me I have around 10 second to answer it or the phone call will be rejected (callee is notified as I'm busy). The time to answer varies based on the ring I'm using. Is there any way to fix that? Do I miss something or what? Call forwarding is off.
LG900:8107.79
Typically, this is controlled by your mobile operator - the phone can modify it, but typically allows ringing for much longer.
I presume the ringtones you're using are longer than 10 seconds? Nothing else obvious comes to mind.
When I use the longest possible, which is ~30sec they are being played just once. When using shorter ones they are repeated once. And that all. You're saying operator this timing - I'll check that too. Thanks
Well, if it's rolling over to voicemail early, that's probably the operator; voicemail isn't controlled by the phone. The phone can signal "I'm not going to answer this" which the operator usually handles by going to voicemail, but I can't think of any reason the phone would do somehting liek that so quickly.

Mic fades during calls

I'm hoping somebody here can help, I haven't been able to find anything by searching here or through Google.
During phone calls the volume from the microphone fades in and out on the other persons phone. From what I've been told the longer I talk the lower the volume on their end. If I pause for a second or two, the volume goes back to normal then slowly starts to fade again. I have had this happen both on calls to other cell phones and to landline phones.
I have tried looking for in call settings on my phone but can't find them anywhere. If anybody has any ideas please chime in.
try using different SIM , the call quality depends on :
1) Sim you use
2) The signal percentage present at the time of call
i mostly presume these are the reasons which does such things in INDIA
if you are from india, try these ..
NOTE: i dont feel that its problem of Phone
I'm using the phone on Straight Talk in the U.S. and still haven't found a real solution. I did however find a work around. If I reboot the phone every morning it seems to help with the problem. A bit of a pain, but whatever works.
