I don't think Samsung will solve that bug for us....

Inviato dal mio GT-I9001 con Tapatalk 2

I've attached the TouchWiz launcher (deodexed) from this ROM for anyone who wants to try it.
(I couldnt install it on mine - currently at work)

Tested! Samsung devs are still in vacations, so tw4 is still bugy...

Baseband
I don't know if someone need this, but i've extracted the baseband from this firmware.
Flash it with Odin in phone section as usual.
Here is the link
http://waingunga.altervista.org/baseband.tar
If someone has time, please upload the file on some other server (now is placed on a server where is hosted a website that I made) and if needed put this on the wiki page.
Cheers
Stefano

has anyone tried this baseband?

Here you are man, this is the kernel of ITV_firmware. I've used CastagnaIT update-script for it, but it works also for this one. Enjoy

Samsung, never again!
I will buy only devices "based" on Google release "policy", that is each new Android version will be released for this device. And I think that Samsung & co. should stop producing tons of smartphones and leaving them die alone. Nokia did the same thing, they made a GOOD phone (N900) a linux-based phone and then killed it.
[/OT]
Sorry for the OT but when I see those things I would like to throw every thing that has the Samsung "signature" away from the window .__.
However let's test it... even if I read that tw4 bug wasn't solved

Cheers.
Can i get a step by step on how to install this rom with 2.3.4 modem ?
yes im a n00b and this will be my first rom
or better still a youtube video guide would be perfect.
Erm.. Is this a stock firmware ? and is it rooted ?
Btw, from what yogi_best said... Its quite battery draining right ? How if we compare the battery draining with 2.3.4 ?
yes it is stock but for taiwan root through recovery works like a charm. havent decided yet if i should flash the 2.3.4 modem or not, have to check and see what the battery life is first!
so far im quite happy with this rom,no noticeable bugs or lags....yet.

great news! this base would include a lot of languages for the whole EU and I think many people will try it if they have their local languages!
Please give it a ICD theme that would be awesome! and of course dont have any rush I prefer a bug free V2 that get it asap but with bugs.
is there russian language?

I've sent him a pm regarding this. Lets see what he decides. Hoping for the best.
In fact he makes ROMs and themes for lots of devices.
The best way to find out about differences is to install two roms and compare. But seriously...they cannot be huge.
IT's branded - there are few 3-apps and 3-bootanimation, and I guess all european languages. otherwise i cannot see the difference between this and KSKK5.
EDIT: IT'S very easy to debrand it! To get rid of this carrier ****
All you have to do is 1) rename package *.tar.md5 to *.tar 2) open package with total commander and replace cache.img with your national/preferred one (cache.img stands for csc here)
With other words just follow this very good tutorial:

thats a good thing to do! But Caution! Replace Only Cache.img! Don't Try to Replace any other stuff like Boot.img! Seriously! We don't want to get our phone to be bricked by trying new stuff! Cache.img is safe!

Another rom version, which isn't changing anything? Only bugfixes, right?
What is this? Another official ROM? Is there a changelog? How to flash it? CWM? ODIN? Thank you in advance.

Didn't thought Samsung would still making a new rom so far.
Hope we'd get ICS.
I think there are some "I9100"s that need to be replaced with "I9001"
i thought it was the Value update off Samsung then
The Phone-Icon is the same as in the coming ICS with Touchwiz
Post some screens
Full changelog please ?

Based on what?
Thanks.
Based on everyday experience. I tried all stock roms, and this one is the smootest and battery friendly in everyday use. At least for me. I don't run quadrant tests.

Ok. Thanks.
I'm not interested in Quadrant score but in battery time in normal use conditions (calls, messages, browsing).
Right now, I have the XXKPU ROM which saved me from some annoying problems (wrong battery stats and uptime - 14463 days of use, battery drain, weird wakelocks and so on) and I want to make a calculated decision if this new ROM is worth to migrate to.
I was also on KPU and KPJ. In last 24 hours, I'm very pleased with this one. I didn't find any problem jet.

maybe this is the so called value pack...
the value pack of the i9000 also contains another lockscreen..
could you look for these changes?
Galaxy Note Lockscreen
Face Unlock
Galaxy S2 Photo Editor
Camera is better and can also take picture while shooting video + Minor UI Change
Auto-Rotation is fast - Fast switching from portrait to landscape

I saw I9000 value pack, and this is not something like that. ROM is very fast, but I noticed only lock screen change, nothing else. Maybe there is something under the hood
well but the lockscreen looks like the one of the value pack...

Yes, lock screen looks the same, but there is no photo editor and face recognition.
But gallery is now extremely fast

If not much trouble, can you post some more screenshots and give us some insights about the performance and battery life for this ROM?
Thanks.
There is no changes in visual experience except lock screen which I posted. For battery is to early, but speed is OK.
