My A700 has the following status:
ACER Logo and Bootloader Version JB-653b3d3 (Unlock Mode)"
I can connect via ADB.(adb devices shows the A700 serial number)
FASTBOOT is not working.(fastboot devices delivers null)
I tried adb shell ls (whatever command) and I get following error:
- exec '/system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory (2) -
For me it seems, that the image/bootloader doesn't mount correctly anything. Also when I try to [Vol -) Power, release Power toggle [Screen Lock], there is no fastboot message coming up.
My question, anyone has an idea how to handle this??
<adb remount> also does not work, shows no positive effect. Output is: remount failed: Success
I also tried: ' First, use the manual process for getting your A700 in fastboot.. power button + down vol, wait for the first buzz then release only the power button, wait for the second buzz then press the up volume button. Your tab should now be in fastboot mode.'
But there is no second BUZZ.
I tried to get into APX mode this works... But doesn't help... as I understood from others...
BR,
Carsten
okay. have you tried: hold volume -, push power, release it, then keep holding - and keep toggling the screenlock.
fastboot should actually appear.

Yes, I tried also. As I understood this is the standard procedure. - BUT unfortunately it doesn't come up.
[Q] Does anybody know if ACER service is allowed to use APX? I am afraid they have too if I send my A700 to them - Or is this only for their manufacturing?
What will be the price round about if ACER flashs it from ground up? Anyone know, or already made this fearful experience?
BR,
Carsten
WHAT HELPED!!!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT:
VOL - (left button with two knobs) & PWR and then CYCLE THE ROTATION LOCK
(without releasing ....!!!)
Now I am able in start using the other stuff!!

Ok. It worked out after some attempts using the following:
prepared SD card with iconiaN-acer-a700-23.zip
fastboot boot recovery-a700-6015-touch.img // i really used boot as flash always went into this not mounted problem....
in menu: mount external_sd
in menu: choose iconiaN-acer-a700-23.zip
followed the installation AND choose also 'update firmware'
now the system is up und running again
thanks a lot!!!!

PLS note:
• I still won't give you any warranties - This procedure can brick your tablet
My Tab was rooted with additional CWM; Rest of the tab: Stock
I've let the tab download the upgrade. The upgrade failed about the region check.
After pickup the Upgrade from the Tab, I’ve modified the script (disable the region-Check) and try to upgrade the tab once again
CWM ask me
a) to hold the boot-Image and
b) hold root.
I've try to hold root
After the tab restarted, I've spend,
a) on the first view, the tab was running without any problems, but
b) all commands from the busybox was rejected.
OK - with the knowledge that the busybox comes with the image -> upgrade ISC to JB; it couldn't be work.
After flashing the orig. full Firmware (ISC FullstockImage rename it to upgrade.zip fand copy to the rootdirectory on the ext. SD) back to the tab (incl override the Boot) the Tab started but freeze on a black screen with the words “Iconia A510“ on it.
After a while, I’ve an access via adb without root.
To bring back the Tab working, a factory reset must be done
I’ve start the Tab in the fastboot mode (Hold the Vol up (2 dots) / Power/ and toogle the rotation ) .
Now the Tab is waiting for a fastboot command.
Type in the command line (cmd / shell) where is adb and fastboot located:
/ fastboot oem unlock
the shreen shows the unlook pic - selcet yout choice with Vol_UP / DOWN
Hint: if you’ve selected the wrong key to unlock the bootloader type once again “fastboot oem unlock“
after unlook the bootloader, restart the Tab via (Hint: before you send out the following command, hold your fingers on Vol_UP, Power and be ready to reach the rotation fast enough)
/ fastboot reboot
The Tab starts once again in fastboot Mode
Hold the Vol up (2 dots) / Power/ and toogle the rotation
Flash CWM
/ fastboot flash recovery recovery_nothrills.img
Reboot your tablet with the following command, but you have to keep the Volume down (**) button pressed when the tablet boots
/ fastboot reboot
You will reached the CWM- Menue; select
Wipe all Data/Factory Reset
Reboot Device
Now your Tab starts up, like out of the Box. In this moment, where you’ve an internet connection, the TAB will be offered one or more(in my case 2 times)an upgrade. Accept them. After this procedure, you’ll have a real Stock-Tab with the latest FW-Version.
Now you can add CWM once again.
In another thread there was written, that Root must be upgraded. It is really the case? From my knowledge, the busybox comes with the image and the root from NoThrills make only the sym.links to the busy box. I’ll following up the issue with root. I’ll believe, that root will be working without any problem after the Tab was upgraded to the last FW version.
Great thank you, helped me save my tablet.
hello I am not capable to reach the CWM- Menue, my tablet starts with a "safe mode" written on the lower part of the tablet .... I have tried several times alxays the same issu ...
I am Already with Jelly bean ...do you have an idea of what I am doing wrong ???

the new combination to get into CWM is
Power + Volume down (**)
After first vibration release the power button and keep volume down pressed
after second vibration release volume down and press volume up (*) instead
THX for the note
I tried to root my device. I downloaded the unlocker APK, CWRecovery, adb, fastboot and everything seemed to be going fine. I ran afoul somewhere in the middle of the process and I tried to do a factory reset. And this is where things went really badly. What's happening now is that I'm stuck on the first boot screen. The only thing that is displayed in the "The Device is UnLocked" message in the top left, the ASUS logo in the middle and the NVidia Tegra log at the bottom right. No spinny and definitely not booting.
Before, when I held down the power button and the volume down button, I would get dumped in to a menu where I could select between RCK, Android and Wipe. However, now that isn't working. If I just keep holding down both buttons, the device reboots and I get the same screen. The recovery mode never seems to come up. When I try to use adb or fastboot to see the tablet, this is pretty much what comes up:
jcboget$ ./fastboot devices
jcboget$ ./adb devices
List of devices attached
So my question is this : am I bricked? If yes, my follow up question is this : can I fix this? Or am I pretty much effed?
thnx,
Christoph
Ok, so I finally got my hands on a pin to press the hard reset button and that didn't seem to have any kind of effect. All it did was cause the device to reboot and it again got stuck on the logo screen. My hopes are falling real fast.
thnx,
Christoph
Another thing, I can't even seem to power the tablet down. Pressing the power button does nothing. Holding it down for a while just causes the tablet to reboot (again, only to the ASUS logo). The only way I I'm able to get it powered down (at least, I *think* it's powered down) is by pressing the volume-up button while I press the factory reset button with a pin. Pressing the power button while holding the volume-up caused it just to reboot as it did with holding power and volume-down. Interestingly, holding volume-down and pressing the factory reset button with a pin just caused it to reboot again.
I was thinking (praying, really) that this was causing the tablet to go in to APX mode (as discussed here -- item 4 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2034866) but holding the volume-up while plugging the usb didn't do anything so I'm not sure that's possible.
I'm hoping and praying that I'm not totally effed and I'm hoping someone can offer some input.
thnx,
Christoph

I've seen that post and I tried to do exactly that. My problem is that power+volume-down just reboots the device and power+volume-up doesn't seem to do anything. In fact, it seems like power+volume-up is the only way I can actually power down the device. How can I enter fastboot with the tablet in such a state? How can I get in to APX mode?
thnx,
Christoph

did you try to use the reset button to go into fastboot mode? or boot into recovery if possible and use adb reboot-bootloader?
also does your pc see the device? adb devices / Fastboot devices?

Thanks again for your reply!
Yes, I tried the reset button however it behaves just the same as pressing the power button. It just seems to restart the device. I've tried holding the volume toggle in both the up and down position (at separate times) while pressing the reset button and the behavior is the same as when pressing/holding the power button.
When I have the device hooked up to my laptop (macbook pro), neither `adb devices` nor `fastboot devices` list anything. Before my major screw up, both were able to list it.
thnx,
Christoph
After a lot of tries i got it working

Hello, I came to this forums looking to get some help with a device that a friend gave me to fix. He tried to install some sort of custom ROM on his phone (Moto E XT1527), and after installing it, Im not totally sure what did he touch, but now the phone only boots up to a screen saying the following:
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (Secure)

(There could be some sort of typo on it)
So far I have tried with a tool that suposedly would flash a ROM into the phone without typing any commands, but it failed at some point.
As for unlocking the bootloader, I was abble to obtain the code, yet when I try to unlock it via fastboot, it says that I need the permission to "Allow OEM Unlock", wich I can't grant because of the SO not booting.
Regarding to what my friend did with it, he's not sure, but he think he deleted some sort of file
Im not an expert on this kind of stuff, yet I can follow steps that are given to me to provide any info or to execute a fix, so I would appreciate any kind of help from you to diagnose and solve this problem
Thanks in advance
A little bump

it can be simply solved ....if you are able to boot to fast boot mode
HOW TO BOOT INTO FAST BOOT
First of all, you have to power off your Moto E.
In order to do so, press power button once and then select “power off” or keep pressing the power button for about 15 seconds.
Wait a few seconds until applying the next step.
After powering off your phone, press power button and volume down key at the same time.
Keep pressing these buttons for about 6, or 7 seconds.
Release the keys when the fastboot / bootloader mode is being displayed.
In fastboot use volume up and volume down keys in order to scroll up and down within bootloader menu and press power button in order to select your option.
if it enters fast boot mod unlock boot loaders ....when it says grant permission using volume up or down button
then flash a custom recovery ...make a factory data reset after you flash custom recovery .....
after all above steps flash any custom rom this will fix all your issues ... you can also try to flash stock rom images via fast boot

Hello and thanks for your answer. I have managed to get into fastboot mode, yet I still can't unlock the bootloader. It stills asks me to grant OEM permissions. Is there any way to grant it without booting into the SO?
I can't get into recovery mode on my new LG G Flex 2. I've tried holding Volume Down + Power till the Logo appears, then releasing and holding again which just resets or shuts off the phone after a few more seconds, I've tried holding Volume Down + Power till Logo, then holding both Volume keys which does nothing. What does work is getting to the Hard Reset screen by holding Volume Down + Power till Logo, then releasing only Power button and holding it down again.
I've read that some things don't work on 5.1.1, but that shouldn't affect the recovery, right? As the phone isn't rooted, I can't use apps like Quick Boot either.
Help me!
I understand your frustration man, developing for this phone is a pain (to put it lightly). That being said do you have adb and fastboot installed (android SDK) on your computer? if so you should be able to open a command prompt and type
"adb reboot recovery" without the quote... and hit enter, and it should reboot into recovery. I cant guarantee you wont see an android laying down with a (!) in a triangle.... If that happens unplug your phone and keep pushing and holding different button combos to get it to reboot regularly again

I'll try that, thank you. But is there an explanation for why the normal way - using the hardware buttons - doesn't work? What could be wrong?
I did buy it "Used-Like New".

In may case works in the same way. With the button "combo" doesn't work. If you have root can get an app from store to do wipe, like system tuner.
Hi guys,
I currently have some issues with my beloved N5. I try to be as specific as I can (therefore the text will be a bit longer)
First things first: My device is experiencing the well known "stuck power button problem".
But I also do have problems which are not related to that one (at least thats what I believe).
Overview:
CM 13.1
ElementalX Kernel
TWRP on 3.0.20
Main issue: I can not start my phone regularly. When not plugged in, it just does not respond at all.
If it is plugged in I can get into the bootloader with only pressing Volume down (because the power button is stuck inside). Weird fact #1: in bootloader the power button should work to confirm a specific task like Start, or boot into recovery but it doesnt. Also: the phone is steady in the bootloader and does not keep rebooting.
Therefore I wanted to perform a backup (nandroid or at least all media) and reflash my ROM to see whether it is more of a software issue. I tried booting into TRWP which is not working (device shuts down after Google logo (might be because of the power button issue?).
I know that I can flash the recovery again through adb or the Nexus ToolKit but obviously I want to save my data first.
As far as I know there is no option as adb pull or through the recovery to save those only being in bootloader mode, am I right?
Question: Can I dirty flash without losing data? If thats not the cure, what else could help?
Other facts to know: while running
Code:
adb devices
I get that the
Code:
"adb server version (36) doesnt match this client (35): killing...
but then:
Code:
*daemon started successfully*
(same in Nexus Toolkit).
If I continue with
Code:
adb backup
it says: no devices / emulators found. Altough the nexus toolkit (and fastboot devices) say:
Code:
FASTBOOT: 03181238e07723e0 fastboot
If you made it until here thank you for reading :good: and I would be even more pleased if someone could help.
Best,
McRacoon
I have this problem to , i cant use my volume and power button in ROM / TWRP ,
I got lost, which data you want to save ?
fastboot flash boot recovery.img | fastboot reboot than gets you to recovery from where you can save data.
@Redchi: not really exactly my problem but if you can get into recovery you can use your touchscreen in TRWP?!
@icrunchbanger thanks for your reply.
I want to save all my data like videos, pictures, whatsapp chats etc.
I know how to flash the recovery (again). The question was whether I can save any data without a working recovery (just from the bootloader). Imo it is not possible but maybe you guys know how to do so.
If I reflash the recovery I still can not enter it as the phone reboots itself every 5 seconds due to the stuck power button. The reflashing operation is not finished (Nexus Toolkit says: "Waiting for your device" and times out after a while) and the battery icon pops up every 3 seconds.
Edit: and yes I tried several workarounds to unstuck the power button like flicking against the button, tapping on table, cleaning etc. The only thing I haven't done is tearing the motherboard apart and replacing the whole button itself.
I recommend removing the motherboard, applying pure alcohol around the area, and then quickly pressing and releasing the power button? If this doesn't work, I suggest replacing the power button.
i can use button to get bootloader + TWRP , but my Button volume up down and power cant use in Rom or TWRP, i do no this software or hardware ,? my nexus normaly use but not have button , I use mikey or double tab to wake get screen on , i use apk to get volume , sorry bad english
