I really, really, really, want an official bumper. I check the google play store every day, several times per day, just in the off chance that bumpers will be available. In an effort to avoid smashing my Nexus 4 into millions of shards of glass, I purchased one of those S-cases floating around on ebay. I have to say this case is one of the most hideous things i've ever seen. It made my phone look like a cheap knockoff. In order to improve the aesthetics of said S-case, I decided to turn it into a bumper. I present you all my ghetto bumper. I'm starting to get really desperate, I'm tempted to pay outrageous ebay prices for a real one. (sorry this is mostly a rant)

LOL! I purchased an S-line case as a temporary fix until the official bumper (or anything similar) hits the market. I was thinking of doing the same thing and cutting out most of the back, but after seeing that it looks fugly! no offense obviously since my work would be just as bad. lol
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought of doing this.

I kept the volume rocker covers on and cut out the power button. It definitely works better without the power button cover.
Just get this case
it's has a premium feeling to it and is pretty solid on the quality. Plus, it protects more than the bumper and costs half as much.

Send me a private message for details. I'm currently taking pre-orders. You may get it quicker than google's case.
I plan on doing the same with the X case, I'm going to use a dremel though so the cuts will be cleaner. Wont be able to post pics for weeks though because they are in China somewhere lol.
Order this one like I did... It's going to be a wait but it should be here by end of month.

Those types of cases pop off the phone when you drop them. I tried to use them on several iphones to no avail. Bumpers for the win.

If anyone has one of those Ringke case that has the loose side could cut the back and sand it down. Probably would look pretty nice. Although probably little protection since it would be a slim bumper

It's hard to tell from the pictures on at&t's website, but the black one is black/GREY which is a deal breaker for me, pretty unattractive when you see the case from the front.
I'll wait for black/black to be in stock on amazon.

Given my job in public safety and my severe interest in mountain biking and snowboarding, the defender will manage my hobbies better than my HTC pouch.
I have the blue commuter case from AT&T's store. It's big, but worth it IMO. Wish they carried the black or at least gray version, but whatever. Zagg screen protector and Otterbox Commuter is a nice combo. I've already dropped it once though lol
My local AT&T store happened to have the Defender case in stock so I picked one up and they are really nice. I'm amazed at how much thinner Defender cases have gotten. I guess Otterbox decided to use their "new" silicone for the One X case and it has a lot of grip and doesn't seem to attract lint as much.
On the downside, while Otterbox makes great holsters, they decided to put two contact points on each side which makes it difficult for a quick release. Also, the built-in screen protector is still a bad idea.
Al in all, even with the high price and a couple little quirks it's a great case and will probably be my primary case.

For anyone who decides to remove the built-in screen protector, it seems like a simple operation. I went to cut it out but it just popped out and then I was able to remove the glue strip in one shot. See pic below:
Great pics! thx...
how much harder is it to get out of the holster now with the 2 contact points? Is it a real pain in the a$$?
could you take a picture of the other side so i know what the clip system looks like? would be awesome

The clips on the other side look exactly the same. I don't know why they didn't just use a "cradle" on one side with a single, centered clip on the other (like they usually have done before).
Just received my case. Very well put together minus the holster issues which I do not use but I do understand for those who do and pulling down the notification bar is tricky as the top is somewhat blocked by the gray front plastic part of the case. Other than that great case and happy I don't have to be paranoid about dropping my phone.

This case is still on sale on Amazon at around $15 incl delivery. Quite a few people have reported delivery issues (delays, cancelations, etc) but from what I've seen the people that have the case are pleased. Just so you know the case cones in two pieces (thanks All__fun). I think if someone wants a cheap but theoretically durable case, this is a good starting point. If you don't mind waiting.
It is nice and well made. It is definitely the bulkiest case I've had as of yet. Also it's difficult to charge using the lg wcp700. It works but has to be put on the charger precisely.[/QUOTE]
All__fun said:
let me just add,
That after having the phone with no case for about a week now,
adding this case truly adds girth to the phone.
Previously the phone would slide easily in and out of my pocket,
you can't tell in the picture, but the case is actually a 2 piece case, a soft inner case, that the phone slides into, and a hard outer cover that gives the phone it's design. (the white, black, pink, or blue distinction.)
This is probably the best case out right now for the phone, but I can't stress enough how thick and bulky the phone is now. If you are willing to sacrifice it's sleek design, this case offers good protection.
I don't have a screen protector on right now, so I cannot add whether or not this peels off or interferes with the protector.
I will also add that with the Ionic case on, when looking at the lock screen, I find it more difficult to swipe left and right between different lock screens. I have a screen lock pattern, and that registers my finger strokes rather than a swipe to a different lock screen.

2. are there optional dust plugs for it?
3. if it's on stock on dec 17, will it arrive to NY before christmas?
thanks!
a seperate question: did anyone find a drop test with this case? i don't seem to find anything on youtube, i couldn't even find an official site.

i have to agree with the rest of you that it is one fugly case. ugh the price of protection.
If you hating on the circles just get black?
I ordered a blue one just because I'm board of black. I will let you how it is when it comes.
Perhaps the cutouts allow it to cool a bit and also make it lighter.. I don't think it looks bad.
As long as proximity works and the USB and head phone jacks are open I would buy it..

True, I haven't tried both. But the fact is that I have both N2 and S4 UAG cases in my hand, used N2 case in extreme situation for 6 months, and also have some experience with other cases (click on my signature link to see what I do on this forum). Oh, and also almost 2000x 4.75 star reviews of similar S3 UAG case on Amazon tells you something too. I write independent reviews of smart phone accessories, so can speak from some experience. If you are looking for something that resembles UAG industrial design, go ahead and save yourself $10 buying other look alikes. But if you want a quality of UAG case which I can voucher from personal experience and reading thousands of reviews from others - get the real thing. It's your money, your decision. I'm just here to offer my humble opinion since you posted a question in this forum
Sorry guys apparently one of his coworkers broke his own case and bought the white obliq one. Lol I guess thats better than having to return it for the uag one
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app

I bought a UAG case and wouldn't buy one of these similar cases simply because I've owned UAG cases and know how good they are protection. Now maybe these similar cases are just as good but I'm happy with UAG. That being said, I can understand someone wanting to save some money and buying one of these cases. Hell some user posted this link on my UAG review and it looks even more like the UAG than the Obliq and it's cheaper, here's the link

Well this one is quite good. I'm satisfied.

I recently purchased the white version of the Obliq Xtreme Pro S4 case and it arrived today, ahead of schedule by a few days, so I was already impressed right off the bat.
I was excited to use the case and took off my current screen protector (that came with a bundled accessory pack) and placed the new one on. The new screen protector was well above my expectations. I've never used anything more than a cheap screen protector that costs no more than a couple of bucks before on previous phones, but this one blows them all out of the water. It's thicker, but not too thick that you'd notice after application. Also, it was incredibly easy to install (I've had headaches installing screen protectors in the past).
After putting the case on I was thrilled at how great it looked (the white case with black accents on my black S4), only to discover that the buttons do not work very well (or in some cases not at all). When pressing the power button, you have to use excessive force to make it activate. Also, on the volume buttons, the "volume down" button seems to work without any problem, however no matter how hard I press the "volume up" button the phone will not recognize that it is being pressed at all. I have taken the case on and off numerous times to see if it is an alignment issue and after countless attempts I finally gave up.
I was looking forward to writing a great review for this phone, as I am otherwise very impressed with this case (especially for such an affordable price). However, with the buttons not functioning correctly I am afraid this is not going to suffice.
It looks like the majority of the reviews on Amazon do not report having these issues - so I am willing to give the product a second chance. I sent an e-mail to the seller and asked if they would issue my a replacement case. I will let you all know what they say. Does anyone else seem to be experiencing the same issues as myself?
Also - if anyone has any questions about the case feel free to ask.

Anyone bought from them before? Thoughts?
Thanks for the post. Just ordered it with expedited shipping. Should be here next week will post pictures if someone already hasn't.
I'd really like a Spigen Clear Back Hybrid like my son has. the back is hard but the sides are a rubbery hard plastic.

but this will do untill i find something else better
Look at this one released on the 25th:

Something interesting that I found is that Supcase also has cases for sale on Amazon for the Pure even though there isn't anything about them on their site. Release date isn't till the 25th-30th however.

I have it as well. I don't like it at all, feels cheap but then again it is cheap. I guess it will have to do until I find something quality that I like.
Same here.

Alright, good to know. Glad we could all warn others haha
the warning didnt get to me fast enough. I have it coming.
I might use it anyway untill something better comes since I'm a painter and if i grab my bamboo with painted hands might not be so good
Ordered this case as well. A crappy case is better than no case on this beauty...
Thatwhy i went on and ordered it. Better than nothing. I wanted the dust to settle a little then pick out something i really like.

It feels solid but if you think about it, if it were to fall and hit on the corner then it might split apart and not bounce like a TPU case which would maybe damage the phone more likely.
But I like almost as well as the Incipio Octane case I have.
I like that you can feel the metal buttons on the side
This looks like the exact one offered by "Storm-Buy" on Amazon. I imagine it's from the same Chinese company. Either way I have this case on my phone and I personally like it.
Now it's not perfect but it does what I really need it to do. I was looking for a clear case that would show off the back, while protecting my phone from basic scratches and bumps, and not adding too much bulk. I don't think it's going to be as good as other cases for drops and falls but works fine for minor protection.
You can see what looks like leftover marks, probably from the manufacturing process. Not really super noticeable but you can see them. Since it is a 2-piece snap-on case there is a bit of flex by the volume button and it is a bit slippery. But the case is solid and snug on the phone. It also provides a lip on top so the screen is protected when face down on a flat surface. It's also not likely to come apart. I actually have a hard time taking it off that I feel I'm going to break it when I try. For $8 I'm not going to complain.
If you are a bit rougher on you phones, then I recommend a different one but for basic scratches this one isn't terrible.
I've been using this case for about a week now and I think it is fine. It will definitely protect the wood back (ebony) from scratches., and it was inexpensive -- I doubt it will offer much protection from a drop. I'll move on when I see another clear case that is deemed to be tough and low profile.
The ebony wood back is very very nice - very glad I selected that option.
Mine shipped and never made it. They gave me a quick refund. I was impressed they refunded my money so fast.
