[APPEAL] Official support for CyanogenMod 10.1 - Galaxy S Plus I9001 Android Development

Hi man! I would like to show you a wonderful news
This is the current list of devices that have ( or will have ) official support from CyanogenMod team for CyanogenMod 10.1 ( Android 4.2.x ) :
Nexus 4
Galaxy S II
Galaxy Tab P1000
Samsung Epic 4G
Transformer Prime TF201
Galaxy Nexus CDMA
Galaxy W
Galaxy S i9000
Galaxy Tab 2 7.0
Galaxy SIII
Xperia T
Transformer TF101
Motorola Xoom
Samsung Vibrant Galaxy S

Don't know why cynagonmod doesn't support our phone officially! It would have been so much easier then.

Its Ivendors decision.

It would be great because our dev could IMRPOVE it even more thanks to stable CM, and not waste time to make it stable

Well since cm made for galaxy w, our devs could somehow port it to our device since it has much similarities. But Xellar said that he already started to build cm10.1

You both are somehow right. You need a device maintainer and the CM Team.
So I think arco will be the device maintainer for the galaxy w. But now the W is an official device, there needs to be a fully working 3.x kernel i would say

:good: if Galaxy W will get a fully working 3.0 Kernel, S Plus will get it too. We dont have to worry about anything. Galaxy W Got Off.Support? Hell yeah. Our devs(like ivendor and else) can do a lot with arcos sources, so there is no need for any fear that our device wont Get Android 4.2 or Android 5.0 if its out.

But the last words is to Ivendor, as he has to decide if he wants to become our official device-maintainer.

And I don't think that you could say that this is an official announcement.

It actually works fairly well for i9300. See http://goo.gl/GJZyC. Considering hwcomposer has been broken for a while now. Myself and some friends seem to believe that we should be able to also get it working for i9305 as well. Focusing on porting liquidsmooth for i9305. Not so much cm10 ATM. As for etas.. its done when it is finished in this case I am personally Working on i9305 currently and will have a build as soon as I get a working device tree (which am currently working on )

Actually.. teammate (nocoast) has AOSP working for the GNote 2. Which uses the same soc. I don't know what you're trying to prove w this, but although the development community has indeed vocalized frustration w Samsung ( and for good reason) there are once again several devices team liquid has AOSP running on the gnote2 (7305), i9300, & hopefully v soon the i9305 as well. We are optimistic that Samsung will hear our cry and hopefully (re)release some exynos4 code. Entropy512 and others working at this w plenty by their sides. I will continue to work at this until we get it working. I take no credit for anything however once again as I stated it is already currently working for several exynos4 devices. This is fact. (Happen to have two of em over here)

I'd agree except I really love my AllShare Cast, the only thing stopping me from getting A Liquidsmooth/CM ROM .
if it's any consolation the 4.2 ROM on the i9300 is pretty buggy, a lot of things don't work so I wouldn't be having too many hopes for it just yet.

Can anyone guide me to a tutorial or any helping information for building AOSP for 8160?
I have found links for Nexus devices and don't know what to modify for our 8160.
Trying to learn how to do that but so far i managed to compile something for nexus (don't know if it's only kernel or complete rom).
So please, if anyone can help with some useful links i would appreciate it.
Thanks.
P.S. If i manage to build a working ROM i will gladly share it.

Call Maclaw, he is a doctor of ACE, with his track record he able to build Final ICS AOSP and CM 9, and now he builds JB AOSP for S3 Mini.....
did you know? S3 Mini and Ace 2 generally not much different.

and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39585258&postcount=1778
Maclaw selected SIII Mini, not ACE II for next project as you can read on his blog. Also saying that "S3 Mini and Ace 2 generally not much different" is like saying that SIII and Galaxy Note 10.1 are not much different. They have the same SOC and thats all.
Yet different enough. Even if they look similar, there are other differences that don't make porting such and easy task.
Still, publishing the sources for this handset is a great step forward. I, for one, cannot wait to flash a custom rom.

hello, isn't it better to leave building sources to one person and the other just submit patch
i dont see a good reason for many person building a Source..

Why the i9500 has no AOSP ROMS

You may have noticed by now that the Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-i9500 has no AOSP ROMS, that means no CyanogenMod, AOKP or Paranoid Android.
While the Qualcomm i9505 is basking in Google edition ROMS and Nightlies of CyanogenMod, the i9500 is in the dark.
The only ROMS available for the Exynos powered i9500 currently are Touchwiz based, and are essentially only modified versions of Samsung's own stock ROM. :crying:
There is a reason for this...
You see, to build an AOSP ROM developers need the phone's sources, in this case, devs such as those who work on CyanogenMod and AOKP need the Exynos 5 sources. The problem, Samsung isn't giving them out just yet.
Now back with the Exynos 4, Samsung promised to release the sources to give devs a fighting chance, what they ended up getting was incomplete, and almost useless. It took the developers two years to get something that half worked out of it!
I'm not saying we will never see non touchwiz based ROMS for the Exynos S4, mainly because it appears progress is already being made.
However, until the day comes where we see an AOKP ROM for the i9500, check out this ROM by doga.ozkaraca
It's a heavily modified version of touchwiz with the only noticable Samsung feature being Settings.
Until next time,
Droidulation
I already have an AOSP Rom on my i9500 :good:
