I purchased a new TF300T from BB the other day, and while I have rooted many phones and other tablets (Galaxy Tab, Lenovo A2107), I did some searching but could not find any specific instructions for my Software version.
So, new TF300T with 4.1.1 and 10.4.2.9, I see many threads on how to upgrade to JB and keep root etc, but nothing on how to get this one rooted. From what I read around I have to unlock bootloader, i guess there is no way around that, now what about rooting 10.4.2.9? Is there a how to thread up somewhere here? Since i will be voiding the warranty by unlocking I don't want to eff it up on my first try.
Any help, will be greatly appreciated.
So first off I totally understand the apprehension. I have rooted a lot thingd and this tablet seems especially technical and convoluted.
First read through this thread:

1) In that thread download the "unlock bootloader" app, run it and unlock the bootloader. Your device warranty will now be void and it will say "device unlocked" in the top left corner every time you boot it up.
2) Now go to this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1845377, scroll down to Part 3 and download the "fastboot + JB recovery" files. Extract them into the Fastboot folder that they are zipped in. There will be two .dll files, an ADB file, a Fastboot file and a twrp.blob file.
3) Turn off your tablet. Once it's off press the power and vol/dwn buttons at the same time. Keep holding them down until you see the screen with "RCK", "android", a usb symbol, and "wipe data". Once in that screen let go and use the Vol/dwn to move the cursor and vol/up to select the USB icon. Plug your tablet into your computer and the computer should recognize it as a "fastboot" device. You can check under "devices and printers".
4) Enter the "Fastboot" folder and while holding down shift, right click the mouse. In the menu you should have the option "open command window here". Select that and it will open a cmd window. Type in the line:
fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash recovery twrp.blob
This will copy the TWRP recovery file to the tablet and flash it. You will see a blue progress bar on your tablet while this is happening. Once that is done type:
fastboot -i 0x0b05 reboot
This will reboot your tablet and you will now have TWRP recovery installed.
5)Once in android again, go to this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1668173, and download the "root-signed.zip" file in the second post and copy it to the tablet.
6)Turn off the tablet and boot into recovery by holding power and vol/dwn again. Once at the menu select "RCK" with Vol/up. It will boot into TWRP recovery now. Install the "root-signed.zip" file, reboot and the tablet should be rooted.
At this point I recommend creating a backup in recovery in case anything goes wrong from here on out.
Now you can flash any ROM your heart desires. I recommend CleanROM 2.7. It's fast, clean and very easy to install.
TWRP is easily the best recovery for this tablet. I have had many problems with CWM not installing ROM's properly and causing boot issues.
I hope this help you out. I know it's kind of a mine field of information but it works very nicely.

I too just got 2 tablets from BB and want to install CleanROM on them but the information was just too overhelming.

He only linked 3 threads, it's a good idea to at least read the first page or so of each. If it still looks a little daunting, there is a video thread I found to be very helpful, specifically, this video:

watch this entire video from beginning to end. A couple of things are a little different from the thread (such as flashing CWM instead of TWRP, and installing the SDK to get the ADB and Fastboot files), but it will give you a better idea of what you will be doing with your PC and tablet.
Then go back to Ramrod's post. He linked 3 threads, though you really only need to read the first 2 imo. The first one is more of a reference thread that contains links to the unlock file you need. You can also just go to support.asus.com and download the unlock apk from there (like I did).
The 2nd thread he linked is what I used mostly. Since I did the OTA update to JB, I started at step 3. That will get you recovery and root files you would need to flash.
I then fired up the video I linked above again, and used it as a visual guide to setup my files for flashing and just followed along using the files I got from Ramrod's 2nd link.
Really, all you need to do is install recovery (most recommend TWRP). once you have recovery, you can flash the root files. Or, just flash CleanRom which is a tweaked stock ROM that is already rooted.
Note everything I wrote above worked perfectly for me on my TF300t with the OTA JB update.
For the amateurs. Could you elaborate on these steps?
Step (1) (a) which file to download? the .apk for the .exe file?
(b) Download to where (the tablet or onto a laptop/desktop)?
Step (2): (a) Again, download to where? Tablet or laptop/desktop? And extract to where?
Step (3) & (4): This make it sounds like the files in previous steps should be downloaded and extracted to a laptop/desktop?
Step (5) & (6): CleanRom 2.7 is already rooted. Do we need to run these steps? Or can we install CleanRom after Step 4?
Backup: What files to back up? Everything?
Flash CleanRom 2.7: Do i copy the CleanRom file and put in on the tablet's internal SD card? Then reboot into TWRP to install the rom?
Critical Questions:
Do the above steps work for tablets already on Android version 4.1.1 with .29 (or .17) builds?
Sidenote: Last night, my tablets had an ASUS update and it went from build .29 to .17. Is this strange? It's going backward?
really, just watch the video, it helps a lot.
I did. It only shows the part where you're flashing CWM.
Didn't show anything about unlockingthe bootloader, or flashing the ROM
again, the video thread is very helpful. We can only help you so much. I'd do it for you if I could, but since you have to do this on your own, you really need to read, read, read, so you understand what you are doing before you do it.

It gives you the basics of what you are going to need. I tried it with CWM but had problems off the bat with making a recovery backup so I went ahead and flashed TWRP. I also tried the root zip from the video link but was unsuccessful after 2 tries so I went ahead and flashed a custom ROM. Heh, I was gonna do it anyway. lol
I used the rooting and recovery flashing method mentioned earlier and it worked like a charm. Flashed on CleanRom afterwards and that also worked fine. But as i didn't like the resolution i though of re-flashing it as the aroma installer gave me the option to choose the screen DPI. But when I restarted into recovery, I couldn't press the buttons, the screen just refused to react. Flashed back original firmware using the USB fastboot but still nothing.
Anyone that have experienced this or know how to fix it?
I just guessing here, but did you wipe cache after flashing back to original wipe cache or factory reset? Maybe with more knowledge could elaborate.

As I lost TWRP recovery when flashing back the original firmware I used the reset data thats found on the original recovery menu. I also tried flashing different versions of the original firmware(.17 & .18). On top of that I also tried using CWM to flash another version of CleanROM (2.5) in case it was something that failed to completely flash when I first did it. But CWM couldn't flash anything properly so I just ended up with bootloops after that. Tried CWM because I can use it with the buttons instead of the screen.
I have reset data several times & used the reset button below the micro SD slot a few times in case it would be some stuck currents.
The most annoying part is that I know that pad is working because I get to the initial setup display when starting it and if I plug it into my computer, I can access the internal memory. It just refuses to react and as I don't have the keyboard, I can't try using a mouse.
Thank you for the help, I'm on jb build 10.4.2.13 & had the same questions as the op since none of the tutorials said anything specific to us. One question I have for those that have rooted, did it speed up your tab? Mine is pathetically laggy while browsing , stock,boat , and chrome browsers all suffer the same. Loading pages takes probably 3-4 Times longer than my gnex does, and when I scroll it hangs , freezes , and sometimes fc's the browser. About an hour ago I downloaded a 7Mb pdf and when I tried to view it , it fc'd with a message about not enough memory. I don't see anything running that is taking large amounts of memory and looking under "apps" I'm using about half the available ram but I could be missing something . Bottom line I want to know if I should return this thing or if rooting and removing some of the bloat will improve its performance. Hope I didn't take this too far off topic. Thanks again for the rooting info.

How do I revert back after one-click root to the stock everything including radio, rom, build, etc. I am currently running Cynagon mod RC1 7 and have had numerous issues, I would just like a clean, simple cut answer so I can give this to someone for the holidays, any help would be mightly appreciated, as i've asked this in the past and can never seem to get a clear cut answer, thanks.

Just flash a full rom, it should restore the radio, the recovery, and the OS. Then do a reset to factory defaults if you are paranoid.

I have reverted back from 4.0.3 yesterday by reflashing the full 2.3.6 rom without any issues. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by losing IMEI.
My phone works just fine after doing this (more than once!).

Ok here's my problem i did the ics update earlier before you told me this and still having issues, now when I go to recovery I get a android with his chest open with a red caution sign on it...how could I just format everything, essentially make it the way it was out of box so I could start over...because of all the issues I'm currently having.
When you get to that point, you need to hold down power then press vol up. Then you will be able to flash the zip. You need to put the zip on the phone first though, unless you have CWM recovery, in which case you can mount the sdcard section and move it across then, and flash it after.

1.You were on I9020T bone stock , unrooted
2.You had GB 2.3.6
3.You updated manually (or OTA) to 4.0.3
4.You decided to revert to GB 2.3.6
5.You used exactly the same method of manual update (stock recovery after copying the .zip file and in this case the full ROM of 2.3.6 to SD)
6.You followed the stock recovery steps and chose the .zip 2.3.6..
7.After everything was setup , you booted into GB 2.3.6 without any problems
Is that right ? or better if you make the exact detailed steps you did to revert to GB 2.3.6 would be apreciated

how would I go about flashing the custom recovery? I tried to flash another full rom package with the recovery in it and like i said i got that error...

Next, with the phone off and after attaching the phone to USB, turn it on while pressing vol-up and power. You should see the boot option screen, the fastboot screen. Leave the phone there.
Now go back to cmd window in windows, and browse to the folder where you have all the fastboot files and where you have put the above image file. Then type in the following:
fastboot flash recovery <image name.img> (without the < >)
press enter and it'll flash the recovery and then you can install the old version of android

I don't believe I have a folder as such, being a person who is not familiar with the lingo, etc of all this i rooted it with one-click mod, and just flash things through this, are you saying I can flash things externally? sorry to sound like a bum, but i'm trying to understand thanks.

fastboot lets you flash stuff to the phone from windows, when the phone is attached to the USB and is in fastboot mode (just turned on, from vol-up/pwr).
Can unlock the boot loader and flash recovery images from there. Once thats done, most other stuff can be done from within the new recovery mode, clockworkmod being the one that everyone uses.
over at nexusshacks it's explained really well how to root your phone. And he provides a zip with everything you could want. That zip is the folder I was talking about in the last post. It comes with drivers to install when you first plug the USB in and the PC recognises the phone. Download the pack, install them drivers and then go back to my last post and take it from there

I'm using clockwork right now, but it seems to be corrupted, im running 4.0.3 right now on a full rom package, so your saying I should still do this? I think i may have done all that before, as the phone is rooted, but I used the one-click method instead.
Just download that file and then you'll have what you need on your pc to do what i mentioned above. Plug the phone in and reflash the new recovery which will not harm it, and then you'll be able to stick gingerbread or ICS back on. You gotta try things out otherwise you'll not understand what is going on. I dont know of any one click thing that will let you go back to default as it was before. After it flashes the new recovery, scroll down to "recovery" on the screen and press the power button, dont restart the system.
In hindsight, while the one click methods are easy to use, theyre getting used by people that dont do the necessary research to learn about the rooting and flashing process. This means you end up skipping so much that you learn about the whole rooting and flashing proocess when doing it manually, which in turn means you have more trouble getting out of it if you want it back to the way it was! No offence intended here, but you just need to man up and do it! All will be well

I need some help to get the new ICS update. I have a TF101 (no G), serial B80, with firmware HTK75.WW_epad-8.6.6.23.
Previously I was on 8.6.6.19 and used razorclaw to root it. Then I have done the wipe data, and installed 8.6.6.23.
When I boot with Power and Vol- then Vol+ to enter RCK mode I get the green android guy with exclamation mark.
When I boot with Power and Vol-, then Vol+ I get 2 options: Wipe data and android cold boot.
I used some apps to test if the device is root and they say no.
Sorry for my english, but it's not my main language.
Any idea to fix this?
The 8.6.6.23 is firmware for the 3G model. You will not see OTA since ICS is not released for G model yet.
You can try to manually install 8.5.6.21. You could also try rooting and installing cwm recovery and flash the ICS ROM

Easiest way is to root, install CWM recovery and flash an ICS ROM. Either the stock rooted ROM or one of the many custom ROMs
I was in a similar situation. The ASUS recovery did not work for me either and I couldn't figure out how to install CWM. There is not a lot of help for noobs with B80s and with all the methods out there it was a challenge to find the correct one. Here's what I did:
1. If you are not rooted, follow the instructions in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427838 to get rooted. I had updated to the .21 firmware, and at that point, the nachoroot method is the only option. I had some trouble connecting ADB, but eventually I got it to work. This was the most difficult part of the process.
2. Install CWM. I was having trouble with this using the ASUS recovery, and I think it has to do with B80 models. I found the app in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346180 and it is amazing. If you are rooted, it installs CWM even on the B80 versions. The custom recovery will allow you to install any rom.
3. Download the option B ROM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514658. Place the zip on your SD card. This rom is the ASUS stock ICS firmware with root. Contrary to what some have said--I noticed a huge difference with ICS!
3. Backup all your user apps and data with Titanium Backup (optional). Do not back up system data, just user apps if you want to keep them.
4. Open your recovery. Shut the tablet off, and boot into recovery by holding down the power button and the volume down button until you are prompted to boot into recovery by pressing volume up. Pressing volume up should load CWM.
5. Wipe and then install! To wipe, select "wipe" on the recovery menu. Then wipe all data, cache, and dalvik-cache. To install, select install zip from SD card and find the zip file you downloaded in step 3.

i TRY to get in adb mode, but it doesn't work as expected:
i used this thread initially (ASUS Transformer Root ToolKit V7.1 Universal (Windows) | 2011-09-22), i downloaded the toolkit, connected my turned off tab to the pc, booted via Power + vol up, it got connected to windows and i installed the drivers. so far so good. BUT: if i start adb server and use adb device, i dont get any devices listed... i cant do anything. And when i use this nvflash method with the download.bat file, i get an error and the usb connection vanishes... i dont have any further ideas what to do. but i can boot afterwards normaly to 3.2.1, though i dont get any updates
any hints? Thanks for reading anyways

What you did was put your tablet into APX mode. That's only good if you're doing NVFLash not ADB.
To use ADB just have yourtablet on like normal with USB debugging turn on

thanks for your fast reply, you are right. i got my adb device id when beeing in the os, so this works. but, trying to use nvflash/Brk's Asus TF RootKit over apx, i got the initial connection, but when i want to flash it looses the connection or dies or something... no idea what
you got any hints how i can come back to a clean version, which is upgradable?

This was the most difficult part of the process.
2. Install CWM. I was having trouble with this using the ASUS recovery, and I think it has to do with B80 models. I found the app in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346180 and it is amazing. If you are rooted, it installs CWM even on the B80 versions. The custom recovery will allow you to install any rom.
3. Download the option B ROM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514658. Place the zip on your SD card. This rom is the ASUS stock ICS firmware with root. Contrary to what some have said--I noticed a huge difference with ICS!
3. Backup all your user apps and data with Titanium Backup (optional). Do not back up system data, just user apps if you want to keep them.
4. Open your recovery. Shut the tablet off, and boot into recovery by holding down the power button and the volume down button until you are prompted to boot into recovery by pressing volume up. Pressing volume up should load CWM.
5. Wipe and then install! To wipe, select "wipe" on the recovery menu. Then wipe all data, cache, and dalvik-cache. To install, select install zip from SD card and find the zip file you downloaded in step 3.

Another recovery build? Yes... But I can say this recovery is pretty safe. Having said that, however:

There is still a risk in bricking your tablet
I've been testing various different ways to get custom ROMs going on this tablet, for over 6 months now. Developing for this tablet seems kinda dangerous (compared to my private building on HTC devices), and I already had to send my device back to Acer because of a brick once. At this point, I guess this recovery seems pretty safe, and hence I'm willing to release it in public. This recovery is inspired by the CWM-based recovery 6.0.1.1 for the Icona TAB A700 by pawitp. So first of all, I want to say thanks for his work and the talks we had.
The recovery itself is built by me so all partitions on the A510 are propely initialized, sized, and mounted: Including access to both internal storage (the 'fake' sdcard) and external MicroSD cards, as well as the flexrom partition. As an additional (see below) precaution, i've supressed 'EMMC wipe' commands in the recovery.
The kernel for this recovery has been compiled by me, disabling all the MMC_CAP_ERASE functions to prevent the 'Samsung EMMC brick' from happening. This does not give you a 100% guarantee, but it comes pretty close.
As explained in this post, the new CWM recovery does not really format your /data partition. It simply removes all files with the 'rm' command, leaving your 'fake' sdcard intact. The recovery in this post does format your other partitions, but it should show this message: 'warning: wipe_block_device: Wipe via secure discard suppressed due to bug in EMMC firmware'. Don't worry, that's a good thing!
Things to note:
I have mounted every partition with this recovery without problems
I have formatted/wiped every partition with this recovery without problems
I have backed up and restored (nandroid) every partition with this recovery without problems
I have installed custom .ZIP files with this recovery without problems
I still won't give you any warranties - This recovery can brick your tablet
How to install:
Step 0:
Check this thread to see if you can help the community before you let us help you!
Step 1:
Copy the file attached to this post (remove_recovery_from_rom.zip, (MD5: 73aea1147f571a83caeb8743cd5972b4)) to your tablets internal memory or SD Card. Download the CWM-Based Recovery by NoThrills for A510 tablets and save it somewhere on your computer.
Step 2:
If your device is already bootloader unlocked, skip step 3. Your boot screen (the one with the Acer logo when you turn the device on) should read Bootloader Version x.xx.xx-ICS (Unlock Mode). If your device is not yet unlocked, continue to the next step:
Step 3:
Connect your tablet to your computer via USB. Make sure you have the Android SDK installed, and perform the following command:
adb reboot-bootloader
When the tablet reboots to the Acer logo, perform the next command:
fastboot oem unlock
Then, quickly press the Volume down (**) button on your tablet, followed by the Volume up (*) button to confirm the unlock. When done:
fastboot reboot
Step 4:
Connect your tablet to your computer via USB. Make sure you have the Android SDK installed, and perform the following command:
adb reboot-bootloader
When the tablet reboots to the Acer logo, perform the next command:
fastboot flash recovery recovery_nothrills.img
This assumes you have put the nothrills_recovery.img in the same folder as the ADB utility.
Step 5:
Reboot your tablet with the following command, but you have to keep the Volume down (**) button pressed when the tablet boots:
fastboot reboot
Step 6:
Install the remove_recovery_from_rom.zip file from the Recovery, then reboot your device.
Your tablet now has this new recovery installed. You can enter the recovery by typing the command adb reboot recovery, or by booting your tablet with the Volume down (**) button pressed.

Make sure to have the required DLLs in the same directory you are executing adb from (or in a specified PATH).

Well I flashed this and even though it says the recovery is successfully written, when I reboot into recovery all I get is the android with the red exclamation mark and it never boots into the recovery at all??? weird.
Notice that the recovery files has been mixed up, but when you download from the mirror link, the nothrills_recovery.img is in it.
Just redo the procedure with the right file, not the factory 1.0.044, and you will be good to go.
On a subsequent note to the dev:

I have tried both of the files from the regular and the mirror sites and it says it completed ok, but I still do not have the custom recovery. I have done this many times on different devices and this is the first time it does not work, I am following the instructions by the letter too. LOL!!!
Anyone with A511 tested it ?

Does anyone know if this could be flashed using terminal emulator. Using ADB I get confirmation that it sent and wrote the files ok to the tablet, but I still just get the dead android with the red exclamation when I try booting into recovery, regardless of wheather I use adb or the button holding methods.

Have u checked the MD5? (MD5 for .img: 6ea6e278ebe2e9f093bcdef5ea07a990)
Maybe u should download the file again and make sure the MD5 correct.

I did check the MD5 and it matches the MD5 on the OP and on your post as well, so the file is good. I have re downloaded the file 4 times already too.
Did you really reboot directly into recovery after flashing? If you were a little too slow and gave the stock firmware a chance to boot it will first reflash the stock recovery. If you then boot again and go into recovery you will get the fallen droid with exclamation mark.
I had experienced the same problem. After flashing the recovery it will automatically reboot and give you an extremly short time frame to go into recovery.

This is what I'm thinking as well. I should probably edit the instructions on the first post, as I didn't think about the fact that people might not have the recovery_from_boot files removed.

I just followed the instructions and rebooted into ICS then ran the adb reboot recovery command. So you are saying to run the adb reboot recovery command immediately after it finishes flashing. I may just try this later today. I got it to boot into recovery once and then went back to the dead android, then I followed the updated instructions on the op and now it works every time and it boots into the CWM recovery every time.

From GooManager/Install OpenRecoveryScript it starts downloading and then aborts w/a "false MD5 blob" pop-up. When I tried to install directly I had a validated MD5.
This is not a very helpful description of the problem but I'm so brain-drained that I really can't recall all the different things I've tried. Amazed I've not bricked the thing! Am just hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

If you don't see"This device is unlocked" top left when you boot, you are not unlocked and cannot install a custom recovery

When I boot into fastboot (power on volume down) the only options that appear are two icons, "Wipe Data" and "Android". There is no usb icon to select.
Following "ADB/Terminal method" with terminal emulator or with adb it seems to be doing something, but I still cannot boot into the bootloader...same two "Wipe Data" and "Android" icons.

You can download the Asus Unlock app V8 from Asus website.. You need to install it on your device and open it. It will walk you through the whole process. It is very quick and easy.. Good luck. :fingers-crossed:

Yeah, like LetMeKnow said, you have to unlock your tab using the Asus Unlock tool.
The info on the TWRP site is somewhat outdated and refers to the JB 4.1 bootloader. Under JB 4.2,
if you boot into the bootloader menu, you are already in fastboot mode by default. Under 4.1 you would select the USB icon to start fastboot. Oh, btw, if you boot with Power and Volme Down, you ARE in the bootloader...
I do hope you have RCK in addition to the Android and Wipe Data in your bootlaoder menu! Otherwise something is seriously wrong here!
Once you unlocked you will be able to use GooManager or the ADB method to flash TWRP.

IIRC the old 9.4.x bootloader used some other way to boot to recovery.
@cBirdR: if your firmware version is still 9.4.5.26 or earlier, be sure to read the thread about NVFlash *before* you install anything and create your blobs for unbricking.

The 9.4.x bootloader was alsmost the same as the new bootloader, the only difference is that it had 4 options (fastboot, recovery, coldboot and wipe data) instead of 3.And iirc if the device was locked the fastboot option (USB icon) was hidden but the recovery was always there (RCK icon).

Forestalling further ****ups, Asus says V8 is for 4.2 JB. I'm still on 4.0.3 ICS. Shouldn't I be using the V7 Unlock Device App?

@cBirdR: Did you see _that's post? Stop what you are doing and check your firmware version! If you have .26 or earlier, you are in a very enviable position! You cannot use NVflash on later firmware versions.
Think long and hard about letting this opportunity pass.....

Well, I've finally got Twrp installed, but cannot reboot into recovery from GooMgr or Clock Mode, only via the bootloader. I was re-reading you guys' posts and your #7 says it all. No RCK. I tried downloading it with Clock Mod, indicated success but nothing changed.
Twrp's Reboot Menu only lists System and Power Off, no Recovery or Bootloader option. But Clock Mode Recovery says current recovery is TWRP. Is it time for me to head for the Twrp forum? I know it's time to donate.

I have not used Goo and CM. Therefore, I don't know what they have on their boot menu. About the TWRP reboot menu, there are only two options. One is System and other is Power Off.. If you want to boot into the bootloader, you need to use the power button + volume down when your device is in the off state. Also, if you have the latest bootloader, you should see three icons: RCK, Android, and Wipe..

Let me make sure I understand you correctly:
You have TWRP installed and can boot into it - correct?
Which version of TWRP?
I have no idea what Clock Mod is and I wouldn't use GooManager for anything but installing TWRP.
As _that said, the ICS bootloader may have had a different way to boot into recovery, I don't know - I did not have ICS on this tab ever. But if you can boot into TWRP (hopefully version 2.5, 2.6 will do in a pinch) it does not matter.
If all that is true, select 'Backup' in TWRP and make a nandroid of your current setup. And I assume you have backed up all personal data, pictures, videos etc to an external SD card anyway.....
Assuming you want to run a custom rom, go to the OP of the CROMi-X thread, download and flash the 10.6.1.14.8 bootloader/TWRP 2.5 package and then boot back into system which should happen automatically, but if it doesn't, just boot back into system once.
Boot back into TWRP, select 'Wipe' and swipe the button to do a factory reset. This is crucial. You do not want to install a JB 4.2.1 based rom without doing a factory reset first.
Go back to the Home page in TWRP, select 'Install', navigate to the CROMi-X 4.7 rom you downloaded to your external card and flash it.

It is odd. RCK is a part of your bootloader. If it is not there, then something is wrong with your bootloader. It just my understanding about the bootloader. I am wrong so many times about the Android OS. So please don't take it seriously until some experts confirm it.. If you screw up your bootloader, I don't think there are many options for you to fix it. Now you still can access to it. I would suggest that you do a factory reset and download the full latest firmware from Asus website and update your bootloader.. It just my opinion. I am very sure some experts here will chime in and give you a better instructions or guides.. Good luck.
Well, I was trying to install CM11 and did something wrong... most likely I was flashing with TWRP instead of clockworkmod recovery.
Moreover, shame on me, I did a "wipe data" or similar thing while in the confusion and now I have just the message "the device is unlocked" when booting - no access to TWRP when holding power+volume down, nothing else... am I in a dead-end? any suggestion?

Does it go into fastboot after you see the unlock device, do you get the three icons you would normally see??

Sorry to say if you don't know what nvflash is or blobs and you don't have fastboot access.. time to send it to asus

So since I feel like I have a complex problem that I can't seem to search for, I'm piggy backing this thread. It's been a year since I rooted this tablet, and I went on deployment with it. Worst ROM ever, couldn't get YouTube, WiFi was sketchy at best so I came back and it even had the OTA updater to update to a newer version, well that wouldn't load at all.
So I was in the process of trying to kill this crap ROM and upload I think CYA.. eh it's not the issue. So the first thing it asked me to do was this TWRP (which is new to me from a year ago) and I installed v2.5.0.0. When the tablet was working, that program seemed to work just fine, but when I rebooted in to RCK, it's so skewed and off center that I can't see half the screen. So when I tried to update to this new ROM, I kept getting download faults, so I figured I was stuck with this crap ROM because basically I quit trying. Well I tried to restart my tablet and this TWRP thing came up and asked if I wanted to run this (NEWVERSION).zip (I don't want to call out the development team, I'm sure their most recent update is much better) but basically it was the new version of the ROM I was running, so I let TWRP (from the loaded up tablet) to "install new zip" so I of course wiped data, cache and dalvik (I didn't save anything to this tablet, nothing to lose)
Well now, I'm stuck in the bricked mode of ASUS screen. If I hold down volume and power, I get RCK/Android/Wipe Data. I ever get the computer asking me to install new drivers, but of course it won't recognize the TF700 as a disk.
Any suggestions on how to get this thing back?
First the good news:
The page with the three icons is the bootloader menu which means you should have fastboot access to your tablet from your computer.
You can use fastboot to flash a new recovery (TWRP) and once that is installed you can flash the new rom.
So this can be fixed relatively easy, but you have to do some reading before attempting it. Done correctly this is a safe procedure. Done without understanding what you are doing could leave you with a hard brick - right now you're probably just soft bricked.

I am not sure what happened here. I have used TWRP since version 2.3.x and never had the problem you describe. I suspect you installed a version for a different device - not the one specific for the TF700.

If I understand this correctly, you booted the tablet normally and got a notification to upgrade the STOCK rom to a newer STOCK version? TWRP would not do that - it just doesn't have the functionality to recognize a newer firmware version.
If you say you "let TWRP from the loaded up tablet to install new zip" - do you mean you were booted into Android? You were running the system? That would clinch it: Whatever you were using (and I am afraid it was ROMToolbox or some such) - it was not TWRP. TWRP is your custom recovery. You have to boot into it to use it.

Question: Did you unlock the tablet? Did you use the Asus Unlock Tool to unlock the bootloader or did you just root it? When you booted it up: Do you remember seeing "This device is unlocked" in tiny script in the upper left?
I assumed you were unlocked, but writing this post I developed doubt. I suspect you just rooted, downloaded ROMToolbox and tried to flash a new rom through it.
That does not work on this device. You have to unlock the bootloader, install a custom recovery and then you can flash a custom rom. Do not use ROMToolbox on this device!
So before I even attempt to explain the fastboot procedure, I have to know if you unlocked your TF700.
If not, you can't use fastboot.
Your last option then would be to pray that the stock recovery still works and flash the stock firmware.

That's a good possibility since I was trying to locate what I wanted via my phone, my laptop crashed last week, which is really the only reason I busted out this tablet, I borrowed a computer to try to get this fixed

TWRP didn't ask me about the update, the OTA Updater built into the ROM that I installed at the beginning of the year did. After I unsuccessfully tried to install the TWRP and CYNA ROM, I rebooted and the OTA came up saying a newer version was available, once it went to reboot into recovery, TWRP came up

I know I went to the ASUS website and unlocked the tablet, it does say "This device is unlocked" at the top left once I turn on the computer.. I'm going to try to screen shot from my phone and update what TWRP looks like on the tablet in recovery

OK, so my computer never actually installs the drivers for the TF700, but ADB worked and I flashed TWRP 2.6.3.2 because it was the newest version, everything went through, it says OKAY and finished, it allowed me to reboot, but I still get the frozen ASUS screen and if I reboot into recovery, I still have that screwed up screen that I posted a few screen shots back. I need to download another ROM.. I have this other one on here, but I can't push the zip, I forgot how. I'm researching..

The ROM I was running had an "OTA Updater" which updated the ROM I was using, I don't want to blast them, but it's just not a good ROM.
So now, I was able to "fastboot devices" and it says 015d25681a481802 fastboot" It let me type the command "fastboot -i 0x05B0 flas recovery twrp.blob
But now I can't flash anything else. Like I said, I can't get the drivers to fully install so I can't mount the tablet like an external drive, I can't even get it passed the "ASUS" title page. Is there a way I can push this 4.2.1 CROMi ROM through fastboot?

Mmmhh, your tablet may need a little deeper cleaning. Check out buster99's post (#12). His method has helped dozens recover from worse than you have right now.

His instructions are for the TF300. naturally you want to flash the blob for the TF700. That would get you back to a healthy stock system. Then you can again flash TWRP and through it a custom rom.

Are you saying the twrp flash went ok?
You don't flash the rom in fastboot. You boot back into recovery, choose "Install" and select the CROMi-X zip you downloaded.
But before you do that I would seriously suggest you format your data partition. That means you have to have the downlaoded rom zip on your external card (otherwise you will erase it with the format).
So boot into TWRP, choose Wipe > Advanced > Format data
Then go back to TWRP Home, choose Install and navigate to the CromiX zip. Make sure the box "verify zip signature" is checked and flash the rom.
Do this only if you have a working recovery!!! Do not attempt with your busted one!!
You can only access the tablet in MTP (as an external drive) if your system is working. It's not - yet.
OK, so here's the lastest for me. I tried to "adb push ROM.zip ROM.zip/sdcard/" - error: device not found. I also tried "adb sideload" -error: device not found.
Also now, instead of the computer asking me to install drivers for my new device, it's registered as a "android bootloader interface" I tried to download the ASUS android USB drivers and update them, but Windows thinks my drivers are up to date.

To use ADB you have to be in your recovery or the Android system needs to run.
If you have a working recovery back - why do you want to mess with ADB unless you are familiar with it? You are treading on thin ice doing stuff without really understanding what you are doing! What's the rush?
The problem is that I don't have a working recovery back. i still have that screwed up screen that only shows a portion of TWRP. It let me push that recovery to it, but I can't see enough of the recovery to actually flash something to it..
I tried to download the drivers and push those manually, but windows doesn't recognize it

Your drivers are working. You need different sets of drivers for different modes: fastboot drivers, adb drivers, mtp drivers.
Your tablet shows up as a bootloader interface because it is in fastboot mode - ergo the fastboot drivers are working.
You HAVE to get a working recovery onto the tablet. It will NOT work without a recovery. To push a rom zip to the tablet is useless - the only thing working on your tablet is fastboot mode.
If the recovery flash fails, try buster99's method. That should clean all the crud off your partitions.
But you need to have the Asus firmware blob file for this! You cannot do this with any rom zip!!
Edit: You did push the correct recovery this time, did you?
