Hello all I've looked through these forms and goggled and I can't seem to find any answers so I hope someone here can help me. I have the 3113 Tab 2. I rooted it with CM9 9.1.0 build. I wanted to return the tab to stock but when I use the usb cable my pc doesn't see it. It will charge but never shows at a mass storage or anything. I have reinstalled Win 7 and loaded Samsung Keis drivers from Samsung website and still no luck. I have to different Usb cables and I have used them both on my desktop and laptop and the pc never recognizes the tablet. So I cannot use Odin to return my tab to stock. Not sure what else to try so if anyone has a solution to this please let me know. I'm going to order a new usb cable just encase that is the problem but other than that I don't know. Please if someone can point me in a direction that would really help. Thanks in advance.
I had a similar issue just installing the "drivers " as a stand alone thing on my Win7 x64, But when I re-installed the full PC Kies software package things worked just fine for me. Now anytime I flash a new ROM, Windows update searches and installs what I need automagically.
Hope that works for you ?
Having a similar issue. I rooted but haven't installed CM as yet. My laptop knows that something is plugged in and my tab knows that it's been plugged in. For some reason the disk drives (SDcard and extSDcard) don't show up and autoplay never happens. I left the Kies drivers on upon uninstalling it and that didn't help. Yesterday Windows Update downloaded a Samsung updated that worked up until I shut down my laptop. Pretty weird stuff.

Im coming from a mac so i picked up an older PC running windows xp so i could download Odin and flash my phone since its pretty much useless right now. I can install the drivers and the computer recognizes my phone but when i plug it in it says new hardware Samsung android USB Modem.
so i try to install it and it always gets stuck trying to install C:\windows\system32\drivers
it tells me that it might not function properly because it wasnt installed correctly.
I dont know what else to do

Where did you get the drivers (they should ahve been downloaded right from the samsung site)? Also what USB mode to you have your Phone in? I beleive for direct connection it has to be in Mass Storage mode. I didnt have any issues when I installed Kies onto my XP Machine and the phone was recognized right away.
Hello, I believe I screwed up something with the mounting/unmounting before I flashed a ROM, and my phone is not working as a result. Originally, it would sit at the Samsung Sidekick 4g Tmobile screen forever, and I could use the button combination to get it into download mode... now that doesn't work, and it only goes to the black screen with the phone and the computer.
I have downloaded driver after driver after driver trying to get this to work, I have downloaded ODIN, and I understand how to use it, but there is no way ODIN is going to see my phone because Windows will not properly install it. I only have a PPC mac and Win 7 computers, one win 7 computer says device is malfunctioning and the other win 7 computer loads it as a "Gadget Serial" but says that it did not install properly. I have tried all the samsung drivers, all the samsung programs to no avail. I've tried more than one USB cable too...
Is there any hope in getting this phone back to life? Do I need to use a windows XP installation? I have VMware so I could try XP or linux but frankly I'm afraid to do anything more for fear of further complicating this situation.
Final Edit: SOLVED. I uninstalled everything save for the samsung drivers, installed the android SDK and plugged it in a different usb port...although im not sure if windows got it right away, ODIN detected it and I was able to restore.
I have a little Problem which I cannot fix.
So I'm trying to connect my phone to my computer as usual but suddenly my computer just doesn't recognize my device any longer.
I tried uninstalling , cleaning my registry ,leaning all my files , re-installing the usb drivers even installing kies mini and it's usb drivers, (Google's generic usb drivers which i couldnt install) so i cant get my computer to recognize my phone again.

Im sorry if this a stupid question, I searched around but nothing I found nothing worked
Thanks in advance and any help is Really appreciated and welcome

The switch from Samsung USB drivers to Google ones for the recent crop of ROMs is not an obvious one.
There are some links in this post to make it a little easier to get them installed.

Alright. So, after bricking my first GS3 while attempting to root and unlock with Odin, I'm feeling confident enough to attempt rooting the replacement I've received. When I plug my phone into my PC while in Odin/Download mode, my computer insists that it's a Samsung USB modem named MSM8960. For the sake of clarity, sanity, and not bricking my Second GS3, is this what I should be seeing when I plug it into the computer in Odin mode? Or is this some driver issue? I installed the proper Samsung drivers for the Verizon GS3 before I plugged it into the computer, and any attempt to manually install a different set of drivers or uninstall the drivers Windows 8 is automatically providing me with when I plug in the device has not been successful. Help?
I realize this is one old thread but I'm having the exact same issue using Odin 3.07 and an S4. When I connect my phone via the USB cable Win7 searches for drivers for an MSM8960 and fails. All Samsung drivers are up to date and installed properly. Would love a solution to Odin recognizing and connecting to my device. TIA
I realize this is an old thread.... BUUUUT, I ran into this issue with my S3 on US Cellular, the simple solution was changing the usb cable and the port and the port on my laptop to a different one. Side note rebooting the computer may help for others but it was not necessary for me.
I hope this helps any future googlers.
If this fixes your issue please thank this post, it will let me know I contributed to your happiness, which will make me feel all warm and fuzzy!
Have a great life all you people I will never meet, who I might unbeknownstly help!
perhaps this can help.
i experience the same thing.
my phone is s4 active shv-e470 from korea, but i use it in indonesia here.
i usually flash my phone in my personal laptop, but i accidentally bricked my phone when i go to my parents home in another city. there is only my sister's laptop there, an asus notebook based on amd brazos. (E2 series processor).
strange thing is, when i put my phone in odin mode, the notebook recognize it as msm8960, so it can not found the appropiate driver. i'am pretty sure i have installes latest samsung usb mobile phone driver at first.
i try to change cable and different usb at same laptop (because that's the only pc in my parent's home) but still the same result.
i become really worried because i think i have bricked my phone and there is no way out.
then i plug my portable 2.5" hardisk into another usb port of the laptop.
suddenly, msm8960 device change into samsung modem and bla bla bla, then windows install appropriate samsung driver,so odin can recognize the phone now.
i flash the firmware quickly, and thank god it can run succesfully.

sorry, i just want to help because both s3, s4 and s4 active, all based on snapdragon chipset.
so when the OP experience the similar thing like me, maybe what i did in the past can help him too.
When I plug in my p3113 into the computer while in download mode, it tries to install driver software, it does, then tells me the device was not successfully installed, I have Samsung USB drivers installed from kies, I've tried different usb ports to no avail.
I've been rooting phones since the G1, I've been through this process several times with several Samsung devices and have never had this problem, so is my computer just old or what?
I am running a fresh install of W7 Ultimate service pack 1. Don't come at me with searching either because I have and haven't found a solution.
Would like to get this done so my kids can continue downloading games, don't really wanna have to use someone elses computer but that is what it is gonna have to come down to unless someone here knows the answer to my problem.
Seems you know what you are doing. Only thing I can think of....did you turn USB debugging on? I believe it needs to be on for Odin.
Also do you have the proper drivers? If you install Kies and plug in your phone, your comp will download the needed drivers for your device, perhaps this may help
