[Q] Change the ploink noise? - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it at all possible to change the screen ploink noise? I know I can turn it off but is there a way to change it? Not rooted (yet...). Thanks.

I don't believe so. It's within the system somewhere you'll have to ask someone else though, I'm new to Samsung devices

Yep. It is S_HW_Touch.ogg in the media files. Guess I will need root to change it unless anybody knows better.

I believe you need root since you will need permissions for system/media/audio/ui

I think a fart sound would be an amusing replacement.,

Rooting the T-Mobile SGH-T959

Just wondering if there was any progress being made on figuring out how to root the T-Mobile Samsung Vibrant. Anybody know if a fix is being worked on and if so what the ETA is?

it's pretty much been rooted from the beginning. google is your friend
Really? Not to sound like a hardcore n00b or nothing, but I've tried every method out there and nothing has worked. If you've got a solution id love to know where you found it.

Call 611 and tell them you want it replaced. I did it and schmoozed a bit. They sent it next day air.

Disable T-Mobile Logo at Shutdown?

Is there a way to disable the T-Mobile shutdown animation? The phone takes quite a bit longer to power off with it. I'd appreciate it if someone could help me. I'm running Xboarder's Tweaked OTA Update.
Same here...
Having the same question and same ROM.
I feel like it slows down the shutdown of the device.

You need to change the PowerOff.apk ...
I don't know if you can simply delete it...

I'm gonna give that a try. Wish me luck!
Edit: Does not work. You'll be unable to power-off your device after.
OK, so you will need to edit the .apk

My suggestion is that you read up on this. You hardly even know what you're asking for.
Before you root any device you should at least know something about it. Just root it won't make it any better without modding, tweaking etc.
You can end up with a brick.
Rooting won't make it faster. Rooting is like unlocking a door to a control room - it doesn't change anything unless you know how to use the controls.
Look in here or Google for how to root your device if you're sure it's the right choice. You can brick it an thereby make it infinitely slower if you're not careful. You will need to do more than just installing some apps that require you to have already rooted for them to work.
Unless you can install CWM (and look into TWRP before doing that) from a usb connects without root, you're not going to be helped by that at all. It won't make your tablet faster, anyway. Look up what it is before trying to install it or anything else.

Ok guys thanks for waking me up out of this bad dream! lol
Well you know i take ur advice, read something about it and then decide.
Is there even a good solution to make it a bit faster?
Cause when i play real racing 3 some tracks lags a bit , while with others
it wont.

R: NEED HELP WITH ROOT please read thanks!
Root is a good idea to make your tablet faster. If you want to overclock cpu or gpu or manage services or pretty much do anything to your phone (which can go from normal system cache cleaning to flashing a different, lighter and faster, version of android to your tablet).
So, yes, if you want to make your tablet really faster (a noticeable change) it would be smart to root it...but you gotta search the web understand what you are gonna do how you are gonna do it also if it works most of the times or its a complete fails. Search the web! U will find out all the risks and advantages to modding your android.
If your want to root it look for it on google, youtube, or here (it's surely already been posted somewhere).
Just use these keywords for your search
'Your tablet name/model' 'android version' root.
Before overclokking or whatsoever, know that exceeding your limits (especially if your device is not high end) can lead you to break your tablet completely. too much modding can lead to fast battery drainage, overheating and possibly meltdown of hardware components
So be careful what you do!

Just follow a guide from the Galaxy Nexus forum - I'm pretty sure the device was quite popular and has its own entire forum.

Lol for me there is no subject of my tab..

Do you know how to enter recovery mode on your tab?
If you do you can try to download a generic-root-signed.zip
No name tablets usually don't have a private key for files so it might work to root it that way. Otherwise you can try Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry.
There are many ways to try...
Hello Tyson
Well iam gonna try it thanks for your advice.
Let you know.

Phone Book Search Problem

My phone book search become case sensitive.
For example if I have a phone book entry as "David Paul", then to locate the same I have to put first or last name in search window with the same format (D or P Capital). If I put "david" or "paul" in search window then it doesn't work.
Few days back there was no such problem.
Can any body guide me, how to correct this...
Thanks in advance.

Maybe try looking at the settings and see if you can find something there?
What app do you use ?
Thanks friends.
I have gone thru the settings, but nothing there related to my issue.
I am using Samsung Google Nexus S 4G, rooted, using Custom ROM of Slimbean with OS 4.2.2, using stock app only for Contacts.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk 2
So then try extracting the contacts app from an older version of the ROM found within the zip in the system then app folder, it might be called secContacts.apk. Move it into the /system/app directory of your current ROM and it might work. If not, tell me.

That's good! May I ask how you fixed it?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Actually in the process of fixing this small issue I might have mis-handled few system files and my mobile had stopped working, network signals had completely vanished and I am not able to use my phone for calls as well as texts.
Then some body had suggested Odin Restore, which is something difficult for me, but while searching the remedy I got a ROM in xda only, after flashing the same, my phone got started and the contact search issue has also resolved.
In have attached the image of flashed ROM.

Easiest way I have found on Samsung devices in general is by using trickster mod.

Great will look into it, so there's no simple way through settings? I noticed that all other device on my network show as unknown just not the note 10.1.
