but many member use the custom rom
so whats the benefit of custom rom against stock rom

Custom rom changes the look and feel of your phone along with change in battery backup
Using XDA premium through A5
Press thanks on help

Use Nextgen rom. You will feel that you are on stock rom but the performance and smoothness are way better. It already has m2sd script so that you can increase your internal memory
Sent from HTC Explorer powered by Nextgen v1.5

Here is my opinion.
1. What ever the open source project its quite interesting then the company private one. So all the custom rom are open source project then its more efficient then stock.
2. U can use the latest version of android including jelly bean in ur mobile which is not supported for upgrading by the manufacturer.
3. All the blot wares which occupies ur memory will not present.
4. Lots of customized look were available with the custom Rom.
5. It provide many features which is disabled by the manufacturer build.
6. U can try any manufacturers build on ur phone if available. U enjoy those look also.
7. Some custom kernels will work more efficient then the stock kernel.
8. Custom rom make u fun with that just like fighting for some features those fight make u genius. It's just for fun.
Hats for the developer who spend their time for us..

Lots of Stock ROMS!!!!

As all of you know, within a week there have been many stock ROMs launched ...... and we are all confused which one to use????
So I suggest someone should try all these ROMs and suggest a best ROM amongst these
so that all the developments can take place in these ROMs only (like the good ol' times where we had lots of c-roms and mods for a rom like XXKPH!!)......this will also help the developers to just focus on creating mods and themes for our benefits.......not that he will go on creating mods for every ROM!!!!!! they too are human!!!!!!
So please do the same and suggest below so that mods like cf-roots , themes, c- roms can be created!!
please co-operate and take active participation.....
thanx
PLEASE ALSO STATE THE REASON WHY THEY ARE BETTER THAN OTHERS..
I like this thread.
Sent from my GT-I9003 using Tapatalk
Please remove xxkpm cause xxkpn is newer than xxkpm
well when someone builds a rom, the dev kinda has some affection to it.
so if someone doesnt like it, then he will try to improve it even further!!
so wat u have is "X ROM" as the best on someday n might be "Y ROM" will be best after sometime!!
n all users have different needs, so what might be best for one need not be the same for another.
I think chinese rom are in advantage due to one extra recording feature which awesome. Yes it has no gapps by default but that its not a issue.
For me all gb roms looks a like except chinese one.
Sent from my GT-I9003 using Tapatalk
ok now i am rly confused.i didnt folow updates for my phone for some time,i see ppl talk about xxkpm and that it is best and i was skins cf root for it,now you say xxkpn is relesed, where can i find it and are there any mods like cf root made for it.
All stock roms with latest build info is the better one! more bug fixes thus lead to more stable but agree different people have different need
p/s: chinese stock roms has extra feature but need to manually flash gapps
@xGiox no cf-root for xxkpn yet
Sent from my GT-I9003 using Tapatalk
My of recommendation would be a port of cranium rom + 14 toggles + 9 lockscreen mod for xxkpn!
I am sure we have ganeshbiyer & skin working towards cf root for xxkpn then work can be speeded up!
Plus sakindia is probably off for a temporary leave because of studies, therefore I request some other ROM dev like blaqkarma or nama or turab to port the cranium project for xxkpn with newer mods!
Tapashocked via my gt-I9003 with a random keyboard of my choice !
This is the Thread that Iam looking for..Because Iam also confused like you guys what is the best.. Having this thread would compare each one of them..
cause I cant decide what would be the best based on a custom rom..sure that people from Europe would say use XXKPN,People From South East Asia DXKP9 and our Chinese friend with ZCKP9.. so still hard to tell at the early stage knowing they came almost the same time.. So I think this would be a usefull thread for comparison...
To me XXKPN looks the best
Sent from my GT-I9003 using XDA App
I also confused.
Don't know whether I should choose XXKPN or ZCKP9.
Actually I has some preconception/prejudice about chinese rom, cause I don't like chinese program/apps(always full of ads+misleading info).
I know this rom released by samsung officially but still...the prejudice is there...
Really need someone who can tell me whether I should choose XXKPN or ZCKP9 or even DXKP9 or perhaps wait for a better rom...

Best GB ROM?

Hello friends!
Presently I am on Osmanfans 1.3 based on XXKB3 Froyo. As its a pretty long time since I updated, I am planning to update. As the phone will be used by my wife and she doesnt like to experiment a lot, please guide me as to which is the best ROM and kernal available as of now.
Please donot confuse me with multiple choices. I want to shift to a Gingerbread ROM which is complete in itself and doesnt lack features. I checked the features of MIUI and it looked nice but unfortunately it doesnt support Video recording and seems to have battery issues.
All said and done, give me one ROM that you guys think is the best...
Thank you.

I will suggest u 2 simple options
1. XXKPQ Its one of the most famous GB rom available which most of the people & most of the kernel developers use it as base rom. So I highly recommand u to use it.
2. DDKP3 Its Indian based rom which has most highest battery backup in GB rom. But as compared to xxkpq it has less mods avalable in forum.
U can use use xda bam kernel or doomlord kernel. Both are superb kernels.
Choice is urs...!!

dont misguide people plz.
If your wife has to use it then I suggest you stick to xxkb3 rom which has least bugs whereas all gb roms have bugs at my last count it was having 7 bugs. These bugs either have workaround or custom mods or use custom kernal which solves these bugs.
I am using stock kpq, rooted, de-odexed and removed all unnecessary apps. Added necessary mods.
Pretty happy with it.

[Q] Which is better ??? Stock OR Custom ROM....WHY ???

Hey Guys...
I Bought this Phone before 2 months..I want to know which is better...Stock OR Custom Roms....???
As I'm from India, so i'm currently on Gingerbread 2.3.4 & Sense 3.0 ...I don't know what to do...Waiting for ICS Upgrade OR Flash the Custom one... I'm Seriously hating Sense 3.0(bcs Sense 3.6 & 4.0 are way Better than 3.0) AND Yea.. I'M LOVING SENSE 4.0 :good:
And Custom Roms will void my WARRANTY... :crying:
Is Custom Roms are better than the Stock one...if yes then How???
I don't know whether the custom Rom will give me such a performance which I'm getting from the STOCK one....Speed...Stability....Camera...BugFree...Supports...
If Custom ROM will give me TOTAL features then I'm Ready to void WARRANTY...
Totally Confused....
Hope You all Guys Suggests me the Right Way...
Custom ROM= Both Sense and AOSP versions
Custom= Kernels, with cpu overclock
Custom=Faster with ramtweaks
Custom=Less bloated
Custom= Some roms have tweaks, where you can change very much.
Custom= You will have 4.1 (JellyBean) Before the end of 2067
Go for it, it's really worth it!

Custom ROMs are better IMHO because we remove htc spyware and data logging crap, they can be themed, devs add speed, stability and smoothness tweaks, different boot animations, different everything really
And another thing you should be aware of, htc's ICS sense 3.6 updates are filled with bugs (exchange email not working properly, car mode not working as it should etc) and most custom ROMs fix these issues (curtosy of the Tmous build which is by far the most stable stock update because t-mobile actually seems to care enough to fix htc's code )
Custom roms are waaaaay better! They are more stable, in my opnion.example on stock ROM id get restarts and reboots that has never happened using custom rom! All the roms are great! Thanks to the developers we have many great choices! The bloat is removed and they look, better. So many reasons! I love my custom rom! I dont regret rooting for a second!

I forgot to add that since custom roms are rooted, you can run a greater variety of apps - some of which like system tuner, terminal emulator etc require root

But What About Battery Life ???
I read lots of Posts having "Drain the Battery Quicker" issue....
And lots of People are blaming that custom roms are gaining a more battey....!!!!
Some People are blaming Battery only stands for 2-4 hours......!!!!!
Some roms have better battery life than others but it really depends on your kernel and cpu speed. You can under clock without losing performance and save on battery life. So its really up to your settings.

|ROM||AOSP||JB||4.2.1||Perfect Android 2.1

Perfect Android is a redistribution of the Android Open Source Project and Google software code that I have lightly modified to make as a daily driver for myself that I'm sharing with the community. This project doesn't have and won't focus on adding a ton of features and mods but instead focus on stability, and reliability so yes basically this is a stock like rom but not just stock my only efforts will be to make it run better, and be more polished, and complete.

This ROM is basically like a stock rom of jelly bean so there is not a need for screen shots ........
Always remember that XDA started out as a great place and will remain a great place as long as we are great to each other anything used in this ROM is available upon request and feel free to use this as a base rom for any other project my ROM is un-branded just give me some mention .......
WANT TO CUSTOMIZE THIS ROM READ THIS:

Probably gonna add a changelog here
AOSP 4.2 ROM so quickly? That will be interesting
Can you have some screenshots?
yep its uploaded
it looks just like stock I built it to be at least as good as what you get from google if everything is working correctly that is when I will begin modifying but for now it looks like the stock ROM so I didn't think screenshots would be needed
first of all you have to give us changelog, then i'll flash it, because now i don't know exactly what are the differences between Your rom and stock, so is it worth flash it?

Its solely up to you guys if you want to flash it as this is an expensive hobby for me I'm just sharing what I do with the community so is it worth it, for me yeah, for you I really don't care, I hope I'm not coming off as an ass but I have to draw a line somewhere. I not making any claims with this ROM I just sharing it if you use it fine if not fine, I don't get into the whole screenshots large claims huge changelog thing I just post and share I also maintain this ROM for the Sprint Galaxy Nexus which it has done just fine so if you want you can do a search here and see what and where I come from .......
I'm very happy when see any new rom in N7 development, because nexus need fresh look from developers, so i was thinking that You could push some new tweaks into ours devices. Almost all roms here are just "cleaned" or "minimalistic" or "performanced" in real these rom are almost stock with the same user experience. So do not get angry when I want to know if there will be something more here...
Does it work with twrp?
After flash with twrp, I see the information is Android 4.2 JOP40C. I dont know whether it is flashed or not?
I will happily try your rom to see how it compares to CleanRom, give my feedback tomorrow

I'm not getting angry with you in fact I agree however, regardless of how you feel about those roms someone still put that effort into them. Honestly for me the N7 is a new device and before I go making claims that my ROM can start your car and end world hunger I want to make sure that it at least meets stock standards. AOSP has done a lot of work to somewhat remove google entries in their code so it has taken me a few days to re-build AOSP code to work correctly with G-APPS and other Google code I do NOT claim to be an over the top developer I just do this as a pastime I have certain things that I do not like and thats why I have started making my own ROMs so that I always get what I want. Now I can tell you this and I know this as a fact THIS IS NOT A WINZIP KITCHEN ROM IT IS BUILT FROM SOURCE it took hella work to get it up to a win zip ROM and thats where we're at so far lol. When I learn all the changes to the 4.2 coding I will start to add small feature to my ROM.

Worth to change from stock rom to custom one ?

Hey guys.
What's the gain of using a custom rom over the stock one (Assuming rooted stock rom) ?
I'm kinda lost in all the roms available , so I was wondering if it was really worth it
Cheers

Battery life (if coupled with custom kernel)
Modifications -- some brilliant mods available -- Battery Icons, Themes, Menu settings etc
Cause you can :good:
-------
Using a custom Kernel with Stock Rooted and a few Xposed modules can be the same as a custom ROM most of the time though.. So give that a try first.
I have a lot better speed and battery life using Hyperdrive ROM with Beastmode Kernel. All the Touchwiz stuff (pen, etc.) still works, so yeah. Custom ROM > Samsung Bloatware.
I get between 11-14 hours with REALLY heavy use and full screen brightness and overclocked.

I have been trying custom ROM's and Kernels for many years..... I'm yet to find one that's worth the hassle.
Just disable the stock apps/bloatware you don't use and you'll get better { performance/battery life } than any custom ROM.
The only reason to use a custom ROM (IMO) would be for additional (required) functionality like additional fie system support etc.
I have personally had absolutely no good reason for the use of a custom Rom in years !.
I also don't feel like using custom rom over stock, I did many experiments with note one but with note 3 I would stay with stock rom.
Bloat wares are not bothering me, battery life is also decent so in my opinion leaving some extra utilities stock is better
Depends on which custom rom you choose. Some rom are good, nice and stable but others don't.
Sometimes I use custom rom because I wanna remove useless apps installed by carriers. If you find it not a issue, keep the stock one.
So if your phone is rooted then u don't really need custom rom isn't it well correct me if I'm wrong as I'm new to that android thing lol

It's not a matter of "need" Hyperdrive has given me better battery life (even after freezing all the bloat) and has a lot of customization. You can do most of it through Xposed, but all the really valuable things are in it already. I never found one I thought was worth it until hyperdrive.
Try one of the ROMs that look interesting, if you like it keep using it. If not, that's what nandroid backups are for.

If u know how to tweaks it urself, do modification to what u need, no custom rom is needed once u r rooted. Basically, once u r rooted u can do all system changes, IF u know how to.
But, assuming u r new, based on ur post, just grab any custom tom u like nd try.
