One X auxiliary help - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I have the at&t one x and I was trying to play music via my friends car stereo with his aux cord but it would continue playing through my normal speaker... tried like 5 times. Any reason why it won't work?
PHP:

To make sure its not your phone I would plug in you ear piece or some head phones. There a a couple different types of 3.5m aux jack male and female ends. Perhaps one your using of your friends has a video out. I could say for sure that the HOX is compatible with the vid out 3.5m cause I have not tried it.

Headphones work. So it depends on the type of aux end?

There are several different 3.5mm connectors out there, ranging from mono Tip Sleeve, up to Tip Ring Ring Ring Sleeve. While most are universal, every now and then some *[email protected]#! of a manufacturer decides to use something different.
As subarudroid said, sounds like your friends 3.5mm is a different configuration to what your one x is expecting, and therefore it won't recognise it as a valid headset.

Skullcandy 50/50 Mic Problem

I just bought the skullcandy 50/50 headphones, the mic doesn't seem to work with the thunderbolt, if I pull it half way out the mic works but no sounds from the headphones, so are the pins in the wrong places? it's odd because I have and old pair of apple headphones for the first iPhone mic works with. Anyone know which headphones work with the thunderbolt with built in mic? Thanks.
I'm not sure if there is a list, but I have a pair of BeatsbyDre Studio's and everything works fine.

I have Skullcandy, FMJ's and they usually work well. From time to time I have your problem. But if I unplug and replug it works again.

I bought the same headphones! Same problem. Did some research but can't figure it out. Sucky part is its just a software problem, but like that will be fixed soon lol

It might be because they are iPod / iPhone only. says so on the packaging. I believe they have a slightly different plug that has an extra piece for transmission of the play/pause/skip buttons.
I don't think they will ever work for a thunderbolt... might want to return them. I have a Bose pair that works flawlessly, also the standard skullcandy headsets will work fine.

Ok thanks guys.

What's the issue?

Well I use the headphones that came with my old Sensation with my One S now. So in the past few days they were quite iffy...worked for a few seconds and stopped, control buttons stopped working, etc. And now they just stopped working with my phone completely now. However, other headphones work with my phone, and the headphones work with other devices. My solution was to use small headphone thingy (extender I believe?) and they work fine (besides the control buttons not working). So I need some help with finding the issue here.
EDIT: To clarify the question, I'm asking why the headphones work with everything but my device unless I use the extender thing.

This is the thing I used to get them working again. Still can't figure out what the issue was with.

You're not the only one with wired headphone issues. Seems like the one s has a sensitive jack -maybe the contacts are slightly prone to bending. When you use that extension cable not only should the buttons not work but neither should the mic. Does rotating the headphone plug in the jack help at all? If so, you might have a slight bend in the plug.

No, twisting didn't change/do anything.

how many rings are on your headphone plug? if it's not three, then they won't work. i had an issue like that with an aux cable in my car. but when i got one with a mic and three rings, it worked just fine

No...I'm not sure if I have any with only two rings.

i'd say try to find one with two rings, or like my aux cable it has three on one end and two on the other. it's strange but works perfectly
I find headphones with mics or controls die within days. I'm using a cheap pair of monoprice in ear buds now and they've lasted for months.

Ok, that information is either lacking context or completely false. Each ring separates the contact areas for functions. Left speaker, right speaker and Mic/controls. If there is only one ring, the sound will be mono, 2 rings is either stereo or mono with a mic, depending on ring locations. Three is stereo with a Mic or stereo with another type of input. The circuit is designed to ground the other channels when they are not separated. If you plug in a 2 ring jack for stereo headphones, the icon in the status bar will show headphones. A three ring jack for stereo with a Mic will show an icon of headset with a Mic on them (like a pilot's). When a channel is unused it gets grounded by the circuit to the common. The spacing for ring locations is standardized. Make sure the headphones are seated correctly.
You can try to play with them to see if the headphones are following the standards by partially inseting them. When not fully inserted, only one speaker will work. My guess is that the headphones are not seating fully and causing issues. Either they are bottoming out before the contacts make full contact, or they are hitting the phone case preventing them from making good contact.

The headphones are seated correctly. Case isn't interfering with anything. Partially inserting did nothing.

Scratchy audio

So here is the scenario:
The car I drive has an audio cassette and I've had the car for about a year now and I've been using a cassette / headhone jack adapter to listen to music, handle calls, and be told where to go by navigation lady. Been through a touch pro 2, my touch 3g slide, sidekick 4g, and this one.
Music bumps properly with slight variations with the quality, I keep the system volume down to half or less to avoid strain on the speakers. No problems there. Phone calls on the other hand; I always turn down the volume on the stereo unit and knock the in-call phone volume down a couple more notches so the person on the other line doesn't sound like a banshee being smothered with a pillow ripping out my speakers.
All my prior devices had no issue after I found that proper balance of course. Unfortunately this device does not play nice at all with my car audio. Didn't matter if I were on stock or any of the different flavors of ICS posted. Any thoughts?

If I had to guess i'd theorize that either the deck or the adaptor has noise reduction built in magnetically which could be causing a problem with the output of the phone, no idea why it would, through the stereo... or your stereo has recently developed a dirty head or (insert term for spinning thing that turns the cassette wheels that I don't remember here).
Or... the plug on your adaptor is not contacting the jack properly due to its not having a microphone pin as well and THAT is interfering with the sound.

Dirty heads never came to mind, ill see about acquiring a head cleaner. Hopefully that will kill the banshee that lives in my car stereo. Thanks for the help!

Car Charger + Aux Out - Is it even possible?

Is this type of device even possible for an Android phone? If so, does it exist anywhere? I want to avoid using bluetooth (want to save battery) or FM transmission (want better audio quality).
http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-TuneFlex-Charger-SmartClick-Remote/dp/B001OI2VG8
I'm sure you still need to run an aux cord from the mount to the head unit lol. Just get a car charger and use blue tooth or use both a charger and an aux cord. Maybe I don't understand what you are asking. But those mounts would only come specifically for your phone because androids have their holes all over the phone.

Guess I'll just have to install this and get a mount:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/GROM-USB-IP...&fits=Make:Nissan&vxp=mtr&hash=item1c313fecb6
Essentially what I already have but it's for iPod/iPhone.
Depending on what kind of car you have it might just be worth it to buy a new head unit that includes the use and aux connections. Check with crutchfield.

Easier and cheaper. Photo is actually of my car (Infiniti) ! Can mount on console to the right behind steering wheel and run wires down the crack out of sight.

Earphone attachment?

I am currently using my note 4 to listen to music on the way to and from work and while the earphones are good I have a pair I bought that are sports style and hook over the back of my ears which is useful for me as I ride a motorcycle to work with helmet and this stops them falling out when I put my helmet on however I'd love to be able to use the remote features of the in-line controls on the stock earphones. Is there such an attachment (cable) that I plug into the phone and then in turn can plug my earphones into that has this that can be used?

For some reason, I'm having trouble deciphering what you are looking for. I don't have stock headphones (I think only certain Note 4 models came with them... mine didn't), but I assume they're basic in-ear headphones. You also mention wanting to be able to use the controls on the headphones. But you can't currently? Is that right?
I just need to clarify what you need and I may be able to help. I'm constantly looking for accessories for my and my family's phones. Are you looking for an attachment to keep the headphones in your eyes with a helmet on, an extension cable between the headphones and the phone, a remote extension to control the phone with the headphones, or are you looking for a new set of headphones to meet your needs?

I have the stock earphones but i wondered if there was an accessory that has the media keys and microphone but let's me plug earphones into it. Like an adapter cable.
So exactly like you said. Not after new ones

Possible. I prefer wired myself as I don't have to make sure it's charged to use then. I've a habit of forgetting to charge things like that more often than not.
I had seen something that is what i'm after but for iPhone but I'm not 100% as to if it would work on the note 4

That could probably work! Is similar to what I'm after. I'm after one with a female connection to plug earphone into but that may be a good alternative. Just need to see if they are available on UK Amazon later on.
Cheers for the help!
