Has anyone noticed that whites are dull and look almost yellowish on the screen? Most noticeable looking at a white screen like the Google home page. It is really obvious compared to other phones. My Captivate looks like a better screen because white pops more compared to this phone.
Anyone else noticed this or know how to fix it? Loving the S3 but contemplating the DNA due to the more vibrant screen.

I personally remember the captivate having the most noticable blue-ish tint
Sent from my Verizon Galaxy S3
That's true, my Captivate reference might be part of it. Just checking to see if there is anyway to change it.

I have a ever so slight blueish tint to my screen noticeably on the whites unless I turn the brightness up. Anyone else have that? I heard it goes away within a few months.
EDIT: I notice the tint the most when I have it on auto brightness with KB5.
Strange, I have never had that issue. In fact one of my favorite things about this phone is the kickass screen. Mine has been flawless with amazing clarity. Maybe you got a defective phone. Bring it back and exchange it if it's that noticeable.

Well I got it refurbished for 50$ so I cant complain. I heard it goes away with time even. I dont even think I am on contract because I am on flexpay too.
It's your screen. It should go away after a bit of use, mine did the same thing when I bought it. I run on max brightness most of the time though, might have something to do with it going away, I don't know.

Max brightness? And I need a way to turn this damn 4g off it kills my frickin battery. Can you test it out on the auto brightness to see if the blueish tint is still there?
This is normal super amoled screens have an ever so slight blue tint to them, the thing is that i cant even notice it at all while using it unless im using another phone like my iphone side by side with it so i was wondering just how noticible is it?

Someone who doesn't own the phone probably wouldn't notice. I can't see it right now.

maybe that's the reason amoled screens look better in bright sun light.

Its not something a screen cap can show due to photos I took on my OGSII looked great on it and like crap on the skyrocket. I'm hoping there's a fix for this?

I cant but its like streeks of lines it almost look like a school of dead pixels but only can be seen on low lighting. im taking it back
I think he's talking about the vertical lines of lower brightness you can see when the screen is dim especially in the gray. I think that's a problem with all plus displays.

It's a known issue with the T-Mobile GS2 that also affects the Skyrocket.
Mine has it also. Most or all have it to some degree.
To see it best, just set your display to about 1/3 brightness and then drop down the notification bar and look at the lower solid grey portion. You'll see the verticle lines/haziness.
I had the same issue with my Atrix but I haven't seen it yet with my G2S.
Maybe it's a quality issue. I've had my Skyrocket for a few days now and didn't notice a single problem with the screen. I was aware of this issue with the T-mobile version so when I switched my OGS2 to the Skyrocket I kept checking for this screen problem. On the other hand my office mate bought a Skyrocket and he noticed the problem that the OP was having. He returned it the next day, got a new one and no problem since.
I am guessing the reason this effects the T-Mobile version and this one is due to the stretching of the screen to 4.5" and staying at a resolution of 800X480.
It is pretty crazy how people who have the skyrocket ignore that the screen looks awful when dim. Its even worse that Samsung has not stopped production to fix the problem either. You would think the white one would come with a fixed screen. Usually by this time you have people writing reviews and ranting about phone defects on YouTube, yet with this phone nothing. Just hoping someone agrees with me and maybe we can stick these problem up samsungs behind.

Dont think anyone cares that much
Why use the screen dimmed? Kinda defeats the purpose of having a super amoled

Agreed.
I have mine set at 50% and its bright enough for me all the time.
I never go lower than that though, so I personally never experience poor screen quality.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
I've never notice the problems mentioned throughout the forum regarding dim settings and colors/lines. I'm sure that to a good eye mine is too afflicted.
One a side note, took my screen protector off today, and man! is that screen gorgeous. It's gonna be hard to put it back on, but I learned that lesson with the Atrix when I took it's protection off and it hit the ground.
You see, and that is the problem. You are ignoring to issue. So when your in a dark room you have your screen full brightness? I don't so it does bother me.

I agree my screen sucks at low brightness. I mainly run my low to save power only turn it up when outside. I wrote a review on Samsung site and did give a bad review on the screen.

I just picked up a white skyrocket yesterday and I've got the screen issues / lines. Looks like a "brushed metal" overlay on top of everything.
I'm going to be getting it exchanged for a new one tomorrow.

Maybe I got lucky... I've had my I727-SR for about 4wks now and haven't experienced the screen lines / screen problems others are posting.... I consistently run at low brightness with a screen protector and screen looks perfect.... no lines, blobs or other anomalies.

Mine has it. So does the white one I looked at. It bothers me and I notice it often. But its the only phone on AT&T that I want and LTE just went live a week ago. I will sadly have to live with it :-(

SMH ! Get over it! A few slightly lines which is only visible when phone is up your nose an on a dark grey background on 0% brightness, is the end of the world run!!!

My screen is great. No lines or any of that kind of stuff.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
just picked one up today. white one.
i see the lines below 50% brightness. above, they are gone.
I believe this is just a simple issue of having the same pixel density of the galaxy S2 but with a larger screen.
this should be device wide.......i dont see why people should have different results....
edit: i have it only above 30% brightness actually....
No problems here... at 0 it still looks great, no lines or weird issues

I have personally seen this vary from device to device. what may not be that bad on yours could be 20x's worse on another. others of us are in fact picky and expect more for what we paid for this device.
To each their own

playing video
When I play video ie Netflix YouTube etc I notice that the picture quality is not.what I expect.from a 250$ phone. I love this phone and that is.my only complaint. I have tried.adjusting.the brightness but it doesn't seem to help. Is this a problem that all are having?
I just got the Skyrocket today and just now turned the brightness all the way down and did not see any issues with screen clarity. Looks pretty good to me.
Infused with Android DNA
Mine has the same issues. However, they are ignorable if you customize the look of your phone. I changed the screen density and customized my phone with a dark bg and modified system apks.
HTC = Hate The Consumer
Hey, I just got a gs3 today. I noticed that on really dark greys(basically never) I can see these black spots around mid lower region of the screen. If I use the app "screen filter" and set it to around 2% I can clearly see them. Can someone else try it out so I know if its my phone or not?
Thanks

I know I have some black spots on my phone I just got today as well. Can see them on low brightness with dark background. Is this normal? Reminds me of the nexus. The screen is better though.

yeah not sure, if it isn't I'm gonna have to return it and get a new one. Definitely not getting stuck in an endless CLN replacement loop.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
I'm gonna go ahead and say it's normal at low brightness seeing how I've had three brand new nexuses and six replacements and all of them had black spots and there was a thread. What's normal on your screen and what isn't. And they marked this as normal.
Even if you go in and swap it promise you the new one you get will also have black spots. Not just saying that.

Have same issue got new s3 and there are good few of them. I also did some research and it's basicly the amoled screen what causing this problem. Not sure now if should i swap it or not. New one might be even worste

Its very common.. I guess its on all devices that use the same screen as the SIII, I think amoled. Anyways, the two devices I have had both had it, I'd say if their not HUGE and you dont notice them unless your in a dark room then its not a big deal. But its totally up to you. I think they are called ink marks as well.
Mine has a few also that are most visible when a youtube video is loading (that dark grey screen that's not quite pure black). It's not very noticeable and I hardly see them so I'm not worried
I believe this is pretty common though
That's unfortunate. No black spots to report on mine. Maybe it was part of a bad batch from the factory?
They are there. You just don't know how to look for them.
Every Samsung amoled has them.

Ok so after having this phone for over a month. The I'm watching a movie for the first time and I notice when the screen goes black in the movie there is a black line in the screen you can only see it on black screens or very dark gray screens. I have never dropped my phone.I'm just wondering does anyone else have this? and what is it from? The screen has to be pure black. I notice if there is white text near it its harder to see.
