I'm traveling and I want a rom where the gps locks quickly and stays locked. Any suggestions?

If you don't mind Touchwiz, Synergy is great. I use it and have never had any GPS issues nor read about any in their thread. Locks very quickly even inside.

I hate to break the news but gps issues, at least for me, were not ROM related. Sometimes it seems that they have more to do with hardware than the ROM you choose. I use Synergy and I absolutely love it so I recommend that you flash it and stick with it. However, If you do still have gps issues try this link and read ALL of the OP. I did and I no longer have any issues. 5 seconds and I'm locked everytime!

I've used every rom on XDA and they're all great in their own way. I'm currently running the latest miui by whitehawkx. At first it was great but now I'm getting slow down and random loss of signal that only returns with a restart. I also have problems with the screen not turning back on properly. I press the lock button and the screen will light up like its about to turn on or it will flash the lockscreen for a second then go blank. Only fix is to relock then unlock again, quite a pain.
I'm looking for a daily rom that will get me at least 9 hours of battery life, is fast and responsive. Like I said, I've used all of the roms here but I don't want to go through the hassle of setting everything up for each rom and testing for multiple days to make a choice. Personal choices are welcome but please say why you like it.
On a side note, does anyone know why updates have pretty much stopped for all the roms our phone can use?
Thank you!

Try Weapon 3. I have been using it for a few weeks without any problems. Better battery life is accomplished with turning off GPS, Bluetooth and data when you're not using them. As well, don't run unnecessary apps and don't overclock.

Was actually in the process of downloading weapon. I can't shut data off since I need constant access to my email but otherwise I already do the other things. I've only been able to get about 10 max on my phone regardless of the rom, might have a bad battery.

I used GiggleBread with Trinity kernel and got over 25 hours as a max. On average I'd be around 16-18 hours with that combo. Try that. And this is with moderate use.
Wtf is gigglebread? If its on xda then I stand corrected in my statement that Ive used all the roms.

First, let me start by saying how much I love liquids work and how great the ROM is. I understand there has been a ril fix implemented and have been running it for the past few days. I've noticed several occasions where data would drop and require a toggle to get it back. My question is whether this ril fix is in other AOSP ROMs and if others have noticed similar drops. Does it take a while for some phones to adjust or is it a network compatibility issue? Just wondering..

I've been running liquid as well but have never had to use a toggle to get data to turn back on. I know sometimes it'll drop from 4G to 3G but that's due to where i live. But the handoff is usually pretty quick for me, and i've never lost data completely and had to toggle it back on.
Just curious what radio are you using?

Settings ---> About Phone ----> Baseband version
I still get an occasional data drop on eclipse that requires airplane mode toggled on/off to get data back...although the 4g to 3g handoff seems much better now.

There is a leaked one, but im using LG7 and haven't had any issues what so ever. Did you try reflashing the rom?
I know there are a few threads out there but, no real help. GPS wont lock any longer. I have flashed a few ROMs none of them are working with GPS. I have done full wipes restored 4 different backups none of them will lock with GPS any longer. I went all the way back to stock prior to newest OTA update still nothing. Please help!
Well it looks like they fixed it I am now getting locked on to. Thanks Verizon I guess.

On Stock/TW or AOSP?
I can get locks on all my ROMs, but signal is extremely weak. On the stock ROM, I could a rock solid lock on 7 satellites in my car below the radio. On AOSP ROMs, I have to move it to the window to get a weak lock, and then it will bounce in and out of lock after I move it to below the radio.

For some reason my GPS won't lock, I am aware that that all of the previous issues with the GPS were fixed with Scott's latest builds, however for me its still not seeming to work. Can someone help please? Give me some tests to run or something?! Lol, I hope I put this in the right place. Thanks.

From time to time, with no rhyme or reason some users find that the first lock can take a long time- from 20 mins. up to in 1 case overnight. Once locked it seems to be fine. GPS Test is as good as any, free on Google Play. Best not to have wi-fi on.
I cannot get a GPS lock on any rom that I've tried. Scott's, butter and jelly, paranoid android. I've tried using GPS test to clear the settings and no matter what I Cannot get a lock. Maybe the gps is defective on my phone.

are you using the newest radios and rpm file and newest vzw leak?? with that combo, I get an, almost, instant lock.
I always have issues too I just tried this app
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app and it ran for a while and it seems to have fixed my GPS now. Although every time I get it fixed its only a matter of days before it breaks again https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.androidlab.gpsfix

Thank you so much. On my gs3, stock I couldn't even get a gps lock until I installed this app. Took about 2-3 mins to fix it and then bam. Got a gps lock. Thanks a bunch for the tip. It worked.

Flashing back to stock generally works as well. Just flash back, get a fix, then flash your Rom again

Flashed latest radios. Seems a bit ridiculous to have to flash back to stock, does not make a whole lot of sense. Will give the app a go then revert to stock I guess.

My experience with GPS has been that its completely random. Somehow I feel that if I leave GPS on it tends to get locks quicker, but honestly its a crap shoot.
