Changing font typeface - Asus Transformer TF700

Hi all. I use front changer to change regular roboto typeface.
What I would like to do is change a font over to a bold typeface so I can replace fonts for things like unread email and such. Anyone know of a program, app, or techniques?
Thanks.

would it be possible to rename another font "-bold.tff" and then use that font to replace roboto bold?

There's a free font manager app out there. I'm not that well versed with fonts, but it works fine. Be careful messing with replacing fonts in Android. If you replace one and Android doesn't know how to read it, your tab won't start.

Yeah. The main one is the "Bold" typeface. A bootloop occurs. All of the font changer apps just change the "Regular" typeface, which still leaves some things displayed in Roboto bold. Ugly. Doesn't match. Trying to replace the bold safely.

Words of Caution...
Don't know if this is relevant, but I used a font changer app to switch the font to one that I had used on my gTablet previously with no problems. The result was a bricked Infinity. Fortunately, I could get it replaced. But... It failed to boot, going into a boot loop, until the tablet begun to get warm to the touch. The dev's solution to the problem did not make sense, since you could not get the device started properly to do the steps they advised. So... from now on, I'm sticking with the stock tablet... font and all.

Crossbow Fonts

Hi, I'd like to make my fonts look like the ones that they advertise with the crossbow. I mean i'd like to have my whole system with those fonts but i don't know how. I've done tons of searching but i could not find anything that would help me change the fonts of my whole system (unless i build my own rom with those fonts but that's too complicated for me). Is there another way? i've found some threads that's suppose to change the fonts but it messed up my fone, others do not change the whole system but just some fonts. All WM6 roms that i've used do not have those fonts that I'm talking about. I'd like to make it like the fonts on this picture. Can someone help me please?
Is there anyone out there who can help/suggest something/make me read another thread/tell me it's not possible/whatever...?anyone?

I don´t think it is so easy - but what about cleartype. The font doesn´t look so different for me. Just cleartype?? Don´t know.
Start - settings - screen - enable cleartype.
And there are registry hacks to enable it also in landscape mode. (Registrywizard or HTweakC)
thanks, but i already have cleartype on. not quite the same but i really appreciate ur reply. With over 240+ views, i finally received a reply. At least i can say ur one of the few people out there who genuinely lend a helping hand to others. I really appreciate it thanks again
Looking at the screengrabs I think they're from a VGA device (a HTC Universal for example), which is why the fonts looks slightly smoother and more rounded. The font on the XDA Exec I borrowed looked a lot nicer than my XDA Mini-S just because it was higher res, despite the actual screen real-estate being used in the same way (IE. although the screen was higher res, everything was larger to compensate). The effect I saw looked just like in some of your screenshots - particularly the first portrait one.
thanks paulmdx!i guess that explains it. it probably looks different because of the vga screen. Thanks, i guess i'll just have to give up on wishing that my fonts be like that
Sorry for my late response...I was suppose to reply back to you after you reminded me that the fonts could be changed...I managed to change the fonts by adding the files to the font folder in the \windows\fonts directory...the extention you are looking for is .ttf...I tried to use a font with a different extention and it didn't work...also if you are looking for fonts then your best bet is http://dafont.com ...they have the best looking fonts, and they have popular fonts used in movies, video games, etc...the one that I am running is aiight, and the one that i put on my girl's is the Walt Disney font...one more thing, after you put the fonts on your ppc you will need to have a program to change the font for you, or you'll need to either change some registry key to enable it (I don't know the keys), or use a program like Tweaks2k2.net to change it...it's not a free program, but you'll be able to use the program 3 times before you have to register it...I don't if you were looking for the font used in WM6 or you were looking for a way to change fonts on the ppc, but anyways here's some info for those who wanted to do this...
Btw this only changes some fonts, but not all of them...it's better this way just in case you put a font that is blurry, too small, etc...while I was trying out fonts for my girl's phone, this happened to me...if all the fonts on the ppc were changed, I wouldn't have been able to find the options easily to change the font...looks awesome though...even my keyboard font changed...my cousin said I'm ghetto because my font looks like tagging lol...
Missing font!
While we are on this topic.....Some of my fonts are messed up!
I installed the 10 button Comm Manager and couldn't get the WLAN to activate. I then went back to the 8 button Comm Manager. Later I found a fix for the 10 and uninstalled the 8. When I did it messed up my fonts. Does anyone have the stock fonts they can send me?

easy way to change font??

Hi,
I've been looking for an easy way to change the font on my TP.
I've tried someones cab file which works, but then I can only use the font supplied in the CAB.
Someone else suggested copying the new ttf over the existing one and renaming it..
eg, new font is red.ttf, rename to tahoma.ttf and copy over existing tahoma.ttf
but, in my windows/font folder I don't have tahoma!!
maybe this is a result of a theme I installed (the font in the font foler is nyama or something)
so, what is the quickest and easiet way to change system font?
thanks
Use this tool ,it works for me
but this app only has 3-4 fonts in it...I want to be able to add any font I like. is there a way to do that?
can I add fonts to this app and therefore make them selectable?

ok..I found out that if you add fonts to the windows font folder then they appear in the drop down as selectable with this app..
however...I can't change the system font (I say system font, but I mean the main one, that is displayed on the now page in SPB MS etc. it stays as tahoma...and what's even more interesting is that I can't find the tahoma font anywhere on the device!! (I was going to copy over this with my new font)
so...has anyone got any other ideas about how to change the font on the TP?
As you can see here I've changed my font for the entire device (you might not see that it's for the entire device but it is) the rest of what I know is in that post, cheers
I seem to recall that Tweaks 2K2.NET allowed you to change fonts as well (via the registry) but be prepared for disproportionate buttons and dialogs which may flow off the screen.
Did you want to change the fonts as a user pref thing or is it in order to increase their size and make them easier to read?
just a user preference thing. I find the tahoma font quite boring. Tweaks2k2 does allow you to change fonts but again, not the main one.
I can't quite understand it. you can change the one in the drop down menus, the dialogue boxes etc but the main one (for sms or emails for example) stays the same.
Pixel, I could've sworn that I did this on my wife's PPC.
Using Tweaks2K2.NET, you can change the system font and size.
The only caveat is that you have to have the font installed to your PPC's \Windows\Fonts folder first.
Wait a sec. Lemme g00gle this...

K, back.
Check out this: http://www.pocketpcmag.com/cms/blogs/24/changing_your_system_font
And this: http://www.multicellphone.com/change-windows-mobile-5-6-system-font/
I'm sorry if this doesn't help. I might not be understanding what you are trying to do.
Take care!
thanks for your efforts. I had to hard reset my device last night after weeks of happy life. so I'm going to get round to changing the font with the methods as indicated as soon as I've finished all my other config work that is required.

Outlined text!?

Hi again...
Is there any way to make the text on the TF3D today screen outlined?
Most wallpapers are pretty much useless, since you can't read the calendar appointments etc...
Unfortunately no, but lowering the contrast/brightness of the background picture with photoshop makes it easier to read.
I have seen screenshots of different GUI's on XDA, where people have had different fonts instead of the original ones...
Would it be possible to maybe make a work-a-round of some sort, and change the font all together?
Like for instance in different games, you can change the in-game-fonts by simply replacing the font files with other fonts, renamed to the same name as the original fonts used...
U can change the font Take a look here

Fantastic, exactly what I was looking for!
I'll just take a different outlined font, rename it HelveticaNeue LT 35 Thin.ttf and I should have outlined text on my homescreen...
- will try it right away
Thanks!
Hmmm...
It looked really nice, but when I switched to the Calendar tab - the phone froze up...
Any ideas?
Whilst a bolder font may make it easier to read, it's still difficult against high contrast/brightness backgrounds. Changing to a larger font also makes other text formatting in TF3D look bad due to wrap-around problems etc....

Well, I used a font with "more meat on it" than the Helvetica Neue one and it looked very very nice indeed!
Problem was, that it made my D2 freeze up all the time...
So if anyone have some input to, what could be the problem, I would appriciate it.
What I did was to take another ttf font, rename it as the original, and copied over the original with the new one and then restarted the device...
It looked good on the today-screen, but when I looked on other screens, it froze...
Find the ttf files in the windowsfolder.
Take the font you like.
open the both fonts in the fontcreator.
replace the letters in the original font.
Use total commander or resco explorer to replace the files in the windowsfolder. Works great !
ps: I changed all the fonts in the windowsfolder so the new font is alltrough windows.

So simply replacing the original wont do it...!?
- with a renamed ttf ofcourse...

What fonts are used where?

I've just been messing with the fonts on my phone, and so far I've found some pretty cool ones to use (custom 3rd party fonts I've downloaded). The only thing is, some of them are decorative and will look HORRIBLE if they're used in the browser as the default text. Does anyone know specifically what filename is used by the browser? Thanks!
I can't even get that far!
Everytime I try to change one of the default .ttf's my phone locks up on the HTC logo. I just replaced one of the fonts (droidsans.ttf) with my custom font renamed to droidsans.ttf and it locks up.
If I can get past that part I would narrow down what fonts do what.

DroidSans and DroidSans-Bold are the two fonts for the entire system, they are universal (Correct me if I'm worng)... meaning, every application, menu, and even the keyboard uses those fonts. However... there might be a way to change the font via the browser.apk or maybe by doing an .xml edit, neither of which I've done. But that's what I'd look in to.

More info would be best.
Are you pushing these fonts (via adb)?
Are you flashing these fonts (via update.zip?)
Also, make sure you include BOTH DroidSans.ttf AND DroidSans-Bold.ttf when you rename your custom fonts. This means that the fonts you find have to be in pairs, one regular and the other in bold.
Secondly, notice the way the font name is spelled... Linux is CASE-sensitive. So droidsans != DroidSans.

How can I get the original S8 Font back?

Hello, I have a bit of a problem here on my Rooted Galaxy S8+ (European). I changed my Font using the Typeface app from the Play Store. Problem is, I realized many characters including ⅔ the Lenny face and others are missing from this font and display as square crossed boxes. So I went back to the app and installed Roboto (which I guess is the default Android font) but it didn't change, those characters did not show up properly. I tried Apple font San Francisco and it won't work either. The Noto font, on the other hand does not seem to have this issue, but it's very ugly. Where can I get an original copy and restore the default system font, without reflashing system et cetera (I don't wanna lose data or go through the trouble of using Titanium)?
