I was authorized to send in my tab for work since there was a hardware problem (mis-aligned sd card slot) on a previous RMA. Since I'm on a custom rom / recovery, should I reflash a stock firmware or just leave it as is when returning? They obviously will know it's unlocked, but didn't know if it should look nice and proper when returning.
its a hardware defect. i doubt they will care if its locked or not. If you were sending it in for a software issue, then you might have a problem.

Hello everyone,
I got kind of a little big problem here myself.
I have installed another rom, the one froms doc's (exactly BUJP8) and now I want to return to the original firmware, like when I received the phone, simply because my phone is all bugged now(can't connect to Bell service), and I want it to return to its original state so I can use the warranty at the store I bought the phone without problem.
So are there an way that I can return to the original FW, I thought I had done an backup with clockwork, but it doesn't seem so...
Thank you very much.
Hi,
I am hoping somebody can help me out. I need to unroot my phone and put it back to completely stock ROM so that it looks as though it has never been rooted. I am not running a custom ROM, however I have removed things from the stock ROM (stock browser, SMS and probably other things) when I first bought the phone so I need to be able to get those back. I assumed I had made backups of them using ti, but apparently I haven't (who knows what I was thinking).
Anyhow I am hoping maybe there is someone here from New Zealand who can tell me where to get the official Telecom XT stock ICS for the Atrix 2 MB865. I assume I am right in thinking if I flash that and then unroot it will be just as when I bought it? If theres anything I am missing here please let me know.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
I have just been given this link elsewhere
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/edison/list.php
It appears to be GB though, does anyone know if I will have any issues if I flash this, given I have already done an official OTA upgrade to ICS
It seems like most advise against flashing back to GB. And no, there doesn't appear to be a TNZ version of the ICS firmware available.
I've always flashed this firmware 6.7.2_EDEM-18-MEARET (in firmware superthread) to get back to stock. Works fine on my Telecom Arix 2, just have to add the apn of whatever network you're on to get 3G working.
It will restore fully to factory settings, no root or anything.
OK guys, I've got a slight dilemma, I'll try and keep it short as possible but I cannot find any solution online as of yet..
I have been trying to resolve an issue with my partners S6 (G920F on ThreeUK) in which it keeps randomly freezing then rebooting (sometimes not rebooting!). At least 15-20 times a day.
It's already been repaired once by Samsung because of main board failure, and that was an absolute nightmare.(.basically took 2months and WE had to chase them up for it!)
Anyway, I've done all the noob stuff (factory reset, ALL WIPES, Odin flash the original FW it came with which I got from Sammoble..)
Correct me if I'm wrong but if it was software issue causing these hard reboots/freezes I'm sure one of the above processes would've eliminated it?
So. Last option was to flash Nougat via Odin, although it wasn't the Three branded one but the XEU UK one, I really had hoped this would've sorted it.
Nope.
Still freezing. Defo hardware yeah?
So now she wants to send it for second repair.
My concern is that I've flashed a non-brand FW on it, and it ODIN won't let me flash the original 6.0.1 back!!! (Locked bootloader I'm guessing???)
I really need to make sure (by Tues) that the phone is back to how it came as if they see that the FW doenst match up (also, the Three branded 7.0 hasn't been released yet!)
I've seen about an 'OEM UNLOCK' option in some S6 FW's..which would technically enable me to roll back....but XEU doesn't have this in dev options.
I hope someone can help. Sorry for the long post but I feel the details are necessary.

All international (g920F) variants have their bootloaders unlocked, so you don't need to go through any process for that. What I will say though is newer bootloaders, Samsung implement something in them that prevents downgrade from one os version to another.
But alas as aslong your knox counter is intact (meaning you haven't rooted) having a different firmware on there shouldn't stop them from attempting to repair the phone.
P.s try installing the 3 branded nougat firmware.

Ah ok. Unfortunately I am unable to roll back meaning the phone is stuck with an international unbranded firmware, which I'm hoping Samsung will not pick up on...another big giveaway is that there is no '3' logo boot animation as you would get with the 3 branded FW.
If only the 3 Nougat was out that would be my next step but typical of Three, they take the longest to release the newest update...so unless they release it before Tues morning then the phone will be sent off with the unbranded FW. hopefully you are right in saying that it shouldn't effect any warranty issues etc...

If it's going straight to Samsung then aslong as knox is intact they won't care it has an unbranded firmware, the only thing that would stop them would be a phone which has been rooted, so I'm sure there shouldn't be any issues with this.

Knox is intact, all legit apart from the one time ODIN flash of XEU.
So you mean if I flash a different stock nougat on a g920t1 it will continue to boot up even with frp lock on? This prevents the phone from booting up witj official metro pcs nouhgat

Ok. Took phone into Samsung Support shop to see if they can repair...
Half hour we get phone call saying to come back as they have discovered 'some interesting things..' (me, sh*tting myself...)
The tech guy says that the phone has the wrong software on
(me looking shocked..)
After explaining that the phone has been previously repaired by Carphone Warehouse, the tech guy said ' they shouldn't have taken it for repair as it was a 3UK branded phone, so they've obviously replaced mainboard and installed unbranded FW instead of 3 brand...
So. Don't think that they overlook anything like This, they knew exactly what happened. Odin flashing does void warranty.

No way really? I've had phones repaired from them before with different firmwares and it's been fine, I suppose it depends on the tech who's looking at it. What was the end result? Was they not willing to repair it?

End result is we've taken it back to Carphone Warehouse for second repair, which was recommended by Samsung guy as he believes they were the ones who flashed unbranded FW after main board replacement (even tho it was me but no one needs to know that lol)
If CarphWhs come back saying "can't touch it as FW doesn't match" then obviously we can argue that the phone came back with that FW from first repair...I can't imagine they will.suspect that my misses has Odin flashed her phone with odd FW...
Lesson learnt - I will not intervene or use ODIN unless it's on MY PHONE.
Ultimately I tried to fix it with Nougat flash, thinking that I could revert back to 6.0.1 three brand FW if that didn't fix issue.
It's funny to see the Samsung guy baffled at how this FW ended up on the phone, Carphone Warehouse can be the scapegoat for my errors hopefully
Phone came back. Fixed and with UNBRANDED nougat lol
Win win.
Wow I remember this problem lol
Disclaimer: So its not a stolen phone, prior owner was just being nasty. I bought the phone from a 2nd hand shop (Cash Crusaders, Kathu, South Africa), where they told me that a lady sold the phone to them, came back after 3 months and wanted to buy it back for the same price (they guarantee buybacks for 1 month), they refused to sell it back to her at selling price, so she went and had the phone blocked. They went through the process of unbricking it through the ISPs, but in the meantime also got repair shops to try and fix it... They changed the IMEI number... So I bought the phone, fully functional, did a factory reset, saw that it had OEM unlocked and figured it was the cause for the biometrics not working, turned that on and thats where my mission started. OEM locked, custom firmware detected... Used Odin to flash on stock firmware (from Frija), got the phone functional, but emergency calls only and no cellular. I have tried rooting and using console, I have tried changing it in the EFS file, I have tried changing it via ADB Fastboot, via dialer (does nothing even with Google Dialer Framework V5)) no dice, it keeps the incorrect IMEI. I have looked up the IMEI on IMEI.info and its clean, so I take it they managed to get it unblacklisted, which is why I want to get the original IMEI back.
What I would like help with is does anyone know how exactly I can change the IMEI number on my phone (Rooted with Magisk and TWRP, but eXposed framework is finnicky and doesnt register properly, even through I installed the RIRU (V23) and RIRU EdXposed (Canary, both Sandhook and YAHFA on seperate occasions) packages via Magisk (V21.1 and V8.0.3 for manager) as per instructions.
P.S. I am a student on a tight budget, so I would prefer to do it on the cheap/free and I live in Namibia, so sending it to Samsung isnt quite an option.
Also please let me know if there is any info, logs, etc. I can attach that might help.

I have my receipt and they have theirs. So by all means verify the IMEI yourself 356630093456642.

Thing is phone got cleared. Original IMEI is clean, which is why I wanna reset it back to it, only problem is they seem to have used a flash-kit to change it in the recovery partitions too (bricked the damn thing when I recovered it (accidentally turned OEM lock on...), I've tried everything down to loading the engineering combination file (interesting though, its android 8.1, which shouldn't actually be possible to do from Android 10) on it and trying through there, no dice. Also asked local repair shops if any of them have a flash kit, none have 1... So I'm stuck at this point, cant even do the normal 'pay a repair shop to fix it for you' method.
My ASUS ROG 5 air triggeres, finger print and sim card is not working, am from UAE, i updated the system to the latest version update. still no way.
any solutions , please advise
current updated details: RKQ 1.201022.002.WW_PHONE_ 18.0840.2106.86
Did you convert from CN version?
If not and you didn't root your phone or unlocked the bootloader yet I would rather suggest to call customer support than trying to fix a $1000 device that should work.
The problem is UAE is not covered by ASUS
That would explain connection issues as wifi/mobile data and such but not the functionality of the device itself.
Fingerprints and air triggers should not stop working when you move to other countries.
(Edit: stupid me - you mean there is no support in your country - didn't get it at first)
So the question remains: do you have a global version or CN or converted CN?

I have a global one, which is WW yeah also, once i made a factory reset now it shows the warning message of bootloader unlocked. is it unlocks after factory reset??
i didn't rooted the phone.
yeah i remember, last time asus support send me an apk to install, that is how the phone unlocked i believe.
guide me for a solution please
I asked the question about your version because there are seller that grab a CN version -> unlock the bootloader and install a WW version on it -> some people think they have WW but in fact it's a non working CN -> WW without a working fingerprint because that functionality breaks during that process... that's why I wanted to confirm your version even tho you said it's WW now.
The bootloader won't be unlocked after a factory reset. I'm a little bit surprised - real asus customer support won't let you unlock the bootloader for whatever reason O.O.
I would contact the support once again to be honest. This doesn't sound correct to me.

That sums up how I feel every time more details are added.
Asus support would NEVER send out the apk to unlock the bootloader when the terms of the app are that it voids your warranty (allegedly).
Something it definitely not right about this whole situation.
Make sure you are contacting Asus through https://www.asus.com/support/
Edit: Also make sure you registered the device on the Asus site. I have a CN model and despite claims that they don't provide support for CN in the US (my situation, not yours), that only applies to warranty repairs. Having it registered still allows me to contact them as a registered owner.
If it is Tencent with WW, it is going to be a converted model or one of the variants sold in Taiwan that comes "pre-converted" (more likely since you could unlock it). Both will suffer from the fingerprint issue, but you could always attempt a return. If it came with WW installed by the seller, then you can dispute that the seller broke the device. If the seller received it as a WW device, then you can dispute that they sold you a defect. Both are legitimate reasons to say you received a faulty phone, but the seller tampering with it will be harder to prove. A lot of shady sellers will try to claim that you caused the issue after receiving it.
Sounds fishy. I wouldn't put any personal data or use this phone until you've verified you've dealt with the real ASUS directly (not through a "dealer" or other middleman). If the device is compromised, it's best to rebuild the entire firmware on the phone yourself or send it in to the official ASUS Global support for a clean factory install you know you can trust 100%.
Better, i will send it to ASUS for a clean factory firmware. Is there any available options to do it myself.?
Is it complicated process to go back to clean firmware?
