Side loading on AOSP rom not working? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I hit to allow apps to be installed... and when I get to the install option, the button does nothing. Its been like this on any AOSP rom I install. Been trying to install flash, tivo, etc... Nothing works.
Anyone having this issue?

Do you have unknown sources enabled under security?
Sent from my SGS3 running Eclipse 2.1

Yes. I go to install something, and the install button doesnt do anything. I cant push it :\. Maybe its a bad file but, the button should at least do something right?

Apparently its every ROM I try.... Installing an APK of any kind will not work. The install button doesn't do anything and you cant click it... This guy also had the same problem on a different phone but his cause isn't the same here:

Anyone have any idea how I can fix this??

have you tried installing the apk through recovery? some will work that way. just a thought

[Q] [Solved] ROM Manager & Rom Toolbox both freezing requiring force close

For some reason that I can't fathom or find a solution for (search is also temporarily unavailable) both ROM Manager and Rom Toolbox refuse to do anything. I can't boot into recovery, backup a ROM, restore a ROM or download a ROM from within these apps. I can boot into recovery via the power button and make backups that way but am non-plussed as to why they have stopped working. Is it a super-user issue? I've not seen a super-user request/notification come since installing the apps.
Bantaumod CM9 Kangs

Nexus I9020
try fastboot flashing recovery then flash different rom to see if problem persists
Ok will do. The only way I can do anything at all at the moment is via clockwork recovery.
I was getting an issue initially where it was telling me I needed to purchase the premium version even though it was already installed but that isn't happening anymore now.
Anytime I see the issue youre having I do two things. First fix permissions. Then I install busybox and superuser. Hope this helps
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I tried fixing permissions but that just sat there ding nothing as well. Busybox and Superuser were installed.
I tried a different Drew Garen ROM and everything now works as it should. Was this likely to be a daily with the ROM itself or just my installation of it? I tried re-flashing a backup of it but the problem was still there.
Thanks for your help
I've just flashed the Orca Project ROM on my phone and Rom Toolbox works but ROM Manager won't!
Am I right in thinking that upon starting each app for the first time they should request superuser access and I should get a prompt?
have you had any issues with that rom?
Having the same problem, but only with Toolbox. I haven't gotten it to work on my ROM... That or any overclocking apps. The over clocking apps give me a boot literally a minute into turning my phone on over and over again.
I flashed orca and rom manager works great
Sent from my Nexus S
I had to flash/install a different version of Superuser that someone in a different thread gave me. Now everything works a treat.

Can't copy/paste?

I've tried to clear the cache, do a battery pull, restart my phone and nothing seems to work. Trying to copy anything from any app will make it not respond and yields in a force close. Anyone know what I should do?

You have to tell us, what rom you are using? rooted? Did you freeze any system apps?
I have the same problem. My phone is not rooted
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
Stock, not rooted (no ROMs are stable enough for me yet..mainly CM and AOKP) and I updated to the new ota
I forget exactly what causes it, but a factory reset is one of the only ways to fix it.
With all the work that goes into installing all the apps and stuff, Id rather root my phone xP
Here's a post that describes one method of fixing the issue, if you are rooted, by deleting all of the files in "/data/clipboard/". It also mentions clearing the data in the "TestService" app, but not everyone seems to have to do that step to fix it.

This Time I Got Gmail but still dont have playstore can you please help what i am doing wrong
Hey. First, don't do what I did. I though I may have needed to flash the newest version of CWM to my Optimus T. Don't do it. It was soft bricked, and it was a pain to fix. Second; try updating your SU binary, and downloading the latest SuperUser apk from the browser. I personally haven't tried it (still recovering from brick), but it's said that it is a viable solution. If that doesn't work, your best bet is to download any version of Blackmarket Alpha, open it, and let it update itself. It pretty much has all of the same apps as the Play Store, minus the sleek UI and better sorting we both miss from the store.
Footnote: Gapps may have not flashed the applications themselves, but go to System > Accounts and check to see if Google is an option. That tells you it's atleast half way working. If you can, download the Play Store .apk, and repeat the second thing I told you above.
Best of luck,
Rob

Hello, i also have an LG Optimus One P500 using the same ROM version and gapps don't install either. The browser doesn't work (it starts and right after it closes, if i push the off button to shutdown the screen and then i reopen it, it does not lock. Anyway, this problem appears only with build 5 version. I hope someone/somebody will fix it, till then i'll stick with build 4. Thank you for your time.
Which gapps pkg did you use?

Did you use the smaller version of gapps or the Generic one? One of the problems with 4.x is that it's so big there isn't room for all the Google apps. If you used the 88MB version then try the gapps-jb-light-20120804-signed.zip version (55MB) and see if that one works. I saw several Optimus V folks with the same issue and using a chopped down version worked for them. The problem is that there isn't enough internal storage for both the ROM and the full gapps package.

Your /system partition is full. Delete stuff to make space, then reflash gapps.

[Solved] Phone issues, need help please!

Posted this in the CM10 dev thread, but decided I may get some better help by posting here, and here's my OP from the thread:
so yesterday my phone randomly shut off and it seemed to completely reset my phone. It booted up fine with two or three apps missing and all of my settings lost. I didn't think much of it until today when I tried to fix it. I did a fully wipe because some apps had disappeared and wouldn't download from the play store and wouldn't restore from TiBu. I went ahead and did the full wipe, flashed latest gapps and my device started up. I began trying to restore my apps and what not, but at I was navigating the phone my app switch soft key and home key would not function. They vibrate when pressed but don't do anything; only the back key works. I went to settings and remapped the soft keys to see if it was just a glitch and nothing changed. Still no function, only vibration. I then rebooted to recovery and did yet another full wipe and this time tried to install aokp just to see if it was a bug with cm (yes I know aokp i built from cm but I had just downloaded the latest nightly to my phone and deleted the old one so this was a test of the new nightly). Still no cheese. I was then thinking to myself, screw it and at least try to restore some apps, but after configuring my google account and opening he play store i get a constant no connection, retry button. Most of the stock apps will not even open. I flashed a TiBu.zip to restore the app and great, that worked but restoring from in TiBu doesn't work now. I tried reflashing cm and essentially repeated the above steps without any luck. Any ideas? I can't test my data/phone connection other than the fact that after setting up my google account, my email synced and I was able to make a call because the browser won't even open. MY [email protected]$s didn't do a nandroid either
Help a desperate guy in need, please!!
PS redownloading cm and gapps right now on my computer in case of a corrupted download, but to have the issue on cm and aokp is suspicious. I'll have to wait for an hour or two because my internet speed is that slow...

Now I redownloaded CM10 fresh from the get.cm page and even did a md5 check and everything matched up, yet still no luck. another strange thing I've noticed is that my power menu, when I verified in the setting that all options for my power menu were selected, the only options that show up are power off, reboot and screenshot. I checked to be sure app permissions were correct and even fixed permissions from recovery. All apps that do open force close upon any activity, for example upon receiving an email in gmail, the gmail app force closes. I don't know if providing a logcat would be beneficial to anyone because I don't know how to read them.
I am currently waiting on a sense rom to finish downloading to verify that it isn't just aosp based roms, but my internet connection is terrible so the 600+mb file still has 2+hrs left. I am also downloading an ruu if nothing else works, but again with a 500+mb file it will take 2+hrs
Any help is much appreciated and I can provide more info if needed.
SOLVED
Sounds like it might be a kernel issue. Try flashing a different one.
If nothing else works, relock and RUU.

Even if it's the stock cm kernel? i never had issues with it before, but I'll flash one now because luckily I have a couple on my phone already
Edit: flashed a different kernel and nothing changed, but thanks for the suggestion

[Q] Unable to install APK

"the package conflicts with an existing package by same name"
So basically I wanted to update bixby manually because for some reason it claims 2.0.03 or something to that extent is the newest but it is not, 2.1 is. So I got the newest APK and got that message. Tried some tricks, won't install. I decided to completely uninstall all Bixby labeled apps from my phone (backed them all up too) and now I can neither install the new apk or the old ones. What gives here? Google said to uninstall all prior versions of the app but this message haunts me. What can I do? I just wanted my bixby button to only open google assistant. Instead it would open bixby as well and it was an annoyance. Now the button has no use because I don't have bixby at all and it won't let me install a new version or the old one.

What I usually do is reboot and try to install right as soon as it turns on.
If that doesn't work, disable secure boot up try again as soon as it starts. If not enabled, enable it, restart, and disable again reboot and install it right at boot up. Usually works for me but not always doesn't hurt to try

See my issue was the first method did not ever work, and I don't have secure boot. I decided to backup the rom I was using, update the BL and then flash a custom rom. Trying out an Oreo rom. If this custom one doesn't do it for me I'll reflash the old rom backup and probably upgrade it to a newer version via odin and use the HOME labeled file to just keep my stuff. But yea those methods are doing nothing for me sadly.
