Does the Mecha have enough ram to run ICS or no? I'm confused a bit because of the way it functions without the proper kernel.
AOSP ICS, definitely. Sense ICS it should. The lag from the leak and such should all be fixed by custom kernels, but as for Ram it'd be cutting it close.

Twisted's aosp runs great on my phone, haven't tried the sense roms.

Ohh, most definitely. The nexus S has an official JB AOSP and it has identical or worse specs.

My Thunderbolt is running it great...now I'm no expert but I'm gonna guess the fact I can run ICS with no issues means it has sufficient ram

Yes, I understand the official VZW release has (or will have) Sense 3.6 so no problem.
Later versions of ICS and JB have Sense 4.x and that might be a problem since I believe it requires more RAM.

Well, I'm not too worried about Sense UI, I'm strictly AOSP or AOKP, I loath sense with a passion.lol.

Good stuff, thanks for the reply about that. I was just mainly curious because I'm still trying to understand why Verizon is acting like some scam artists and trying to make people upgrade their phones.
If my Galaxy S Epic 4G with less internal flash and DRAM can run ICS and JB I sure hope Thunderbolt with more internal flash and DRAM can do it.

I suspect VZW is having problems stuffing their usual 75 gigabytes of worthless bloat into the limited memory of the Thunderbolt....
Wouldn't it be nice if VZW and all providers would stick their bloat on an SD card and we could just remove it and throw it away when we get the phone?
Or even better yet would be if HTC would just post their finished product on one of their own sites for anybody who wanted it...before verizon suffs it full of crap. Wishful thinking but would be nice.

Hey guys, I recently went into Verizon and played with the galaxy nexus. Its a nice phone, but what's so fantastic about ICS? I thought it was too dark, and really slow (at least the display model was). I've used sky-ics rom and I had to go back to StockMod.
So why exactly does everyone want it and ask about it? Personally I prefer touchwiz, its a lot more intuitive. The biggest difference I saw was the widgets displayed in the launched and the recent app tray thing. But its not like a game changer.

I came to the SkyRocket from the Inspire recently and the last ROM I used on it was an ICS ROM. Chrome beta alone makes it well worth it not to mention its the latest and greatest and we can't have it!

the main reason i want ICS is that its a whole UI overhaul. it looks smooth and fancy. lol. i had ICS on my captivate and LOVED it. i cant wait to have ICS on my skyrocket

ICS is great. I love it on my xoom. Chrome beta is also worthwhile, much better than the stock browser. Also lots of little things make me want ICS.

I am using ics on my nexus s, bigxie apex rom and it is awesome. Those display phones are slow usually because hundreds of people fool with them a day and they have been on for weeks.

Touchwiz isn't a operating system buddy but a UI overlay by Samsung. HTC has sense and so on but both companies devices can have ics

Looks like the final official htc phone list is out... any thoughts..
The Desire HD should be getting ICS July/August. That means before sept we will most likely have a Sense ICS kernel. When they release the source we'll have custom Sense ICS kernels.
Nice to know there are still things to do on our old phones.

I've been on a home brew UCLE2 based rom since it dropped and have been pretty happy with it. Only wish battery life was a bit better, but power save mode seems to make a big difference with that.
Its touchwiz. Don't know why everyone is hyped other than the kernel source being available.

It gets really old reading all of this whining about Touchwiz. This is the SKYROCKET forums. It comes with Touchwiz, always has and always will. Frankly if you two hate it so much why in the world did either of you purchase this phone?
Some of us are quite happy with Touchwiz and are excited to finally be seeing a complete and fully functioning ICS rom that could run on our phones.

Didn't HTC already confirm the TB for an upgrade?
HTC didn't cancel the Desire update, Canadian carrier Tellus canceled it due to bad performance. Even with Tellus jumping the gun and canceling the update, HTC has said it would move forward with developing updates for all Desire models.
Quite frankly this is a big part of the problem, instead of the carrier pushing HTC to do better and not accepting failure, they decided to screw their customers.

Not for the Thunderbolt. Everything that doesn't have to do with the radios works as devs are still waiting on RIL.

I personally don't think jellybean is going to run worth a crap in this phone. The vsyncing that was thrown in jellybean is resource intensive and I don't think the hardware of the thunderbolt can handle that. Ics will run good I'm sure but jellybean throws a wrench into things because of vsync timers.

Wouldn't devs just be able to disable the VSync feature? I mean, CM has a lot of under-the-hood tweaks. I'm sure with full source they'll be able to port forward the ICS code, worst case. I can't imagine 4.0 to 4.1 as being anything but incremental.
That vsync feature is one of the things that makes jellybean great because the phones that can handle it and can utilize that feature will see great improvements to the smoothness of the ui.

That article adds no new information and is just speculation. Regrettably I tend to agree with what it's saying, but it's not like someone dropped the other shoe. Hopefully we'll at least get a leak with a working ril, even if HTC decides to puss out on us too.

Agreed but there won't be a leak if HTC and VZW don't create a ROM. The rumored soak test has produced no leak so far, I heard (who knows if it's true or not?) that the NDA had sufficient teeth in it that none of the testers would leak it.... so *IF* the soak test really happened or is happening then we can believe in one hell of an NDA because there is no leak AFAIK.
FWIW, I really don't care much, HTC's website says IF the T'bolt gets ICS it'll have Sense 3.6 and will NOT get sense 4.x because of performance issues and that makes me think two things:
1. The T'bolt really doesn't have the horsepower to run ICS with Sense 4.x and so
2. We're better off with a good ROM and Gingerbread than we will be with ICS.
However, I can upgrade in... well, never. So.... I'll keep running my current ROM(s) and see what happens and what shows up on Ebay!

That desire c is really low end hardware but yet can run the newest software. Definitely a marketing strategy on htc's part by not giving us the best software. Our phones are more than capable of running it. Another example is the one v. Same specs as ours

Any ics spin offs don't have SoD's if not try dr4stic 's cm10 as he is the only fixing issue to the kernel and upstreaming them his cm10 might be the most stable rom jellybean wise

Tweaked 2.1 my daily driver. Big ups to Dwitherell, and really everyother dev in these forums without them i'd still have a stock bloated pos.

Dr4stic has done a great job and with new nightly's coming practically every night we might have a stable CM 10 very soon. Sum it up yes switchmy opinion lol.... and Erikmm is also very helpful in our little community.... just the truth people. I'm actually getting the blaze today. On the mytouch I was just sticking with gingerbread cause jelly bean and even ics would have to many bugs or just not be quick and smooth enough to make the transition out of gingerbread worth it. I'm really hoping to at least find a smooth ics Rom on this phone with no bugs

On the mytouch I was just sticking with gingerbread cause jelly bean and even ics would have to many bugs or just not be quick and smooth enough to make the transition out of gingerbread worth it. I'm really hoping to at least find a smooth ics Rom on this phone with no bugs

If you want a stable cm10... well its right around the corner. Been testing 2 kernels for dr4stic, and both are rock solid. No sods NOTHING. Can't imagine it getting much better than this. You'll have a vast selection to choose from when you decide what's best for you. If you find something you like don't hesitate to hit thx or donate to any of these great devs. Let's keep this community strong by showing these devs how much their truly appreciated. Cheers to all

Well I rooted and flashed the tweaked ICS ROM and so far it doesn't seem like a huge improvement from the my touch 4g. Its a solid ROM just was expecting more from this phone being that its newer and on paper has a better processor

No worries. ICS is no JB that's for sure, and truth be told ALL the awesome options available to the Blaze should be tried out! That's the great thing about having such options - you can start choosing based on preferences as opposed to basic functionality. I'm a smali hack at best - I would consider the other tinkerers for the Blaze to be far more qualified of a "developer" title than I really - so folks should really make sure to test the various waters as you never know what you might be missing!

Theirs nothing wrong with the ROM. I just haven't seen anything so far that makes this phone noticeably better than the mytouch 4g which is what I switched from

Well single core to dual core, NFC, slightly larger screen, 4g 42mbps, larger capacity battery, and adreno 220 are things that I would consider better. At my dad's house near Minneapolis I can pull 20+mpbs on 4g...
But at the end of the day, you still are running android and that's not going to change much... and if you liked sense than you will likely not like TW. No guarantee that you also wouldn't like aosp either (my wife doesn't - she prefers sense). My wife has a sensation 4g and I see a major difference between her phone and my blaze. I prefer the blaze, because of those features listed (and access to the sd card without having to dissemble the phone to get to it) and I prefer TW (using TW5 launcher) to any sense rom. Sense just seems bloated to me and the Blaze just seems to be more responsive.
But hey, they're just phones and everyone is entitled to their own opinions and can like whatever they choose to like

I'm actually running CM7 on my Mytouch 4G. I agree with you on sense feeling bloated. As far as the screen size, when I put the phones next to each other you really can't notice an increase in size.
