Ghost touches on TF300T - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So just recently on my Asus tf300t there was "ghost touches" and its very annoying. I wonder, does anyone has this problem? And If its a hardware problem and have to change the digitilizer, does anyone know how much does it cost to send to asus to fix it?

Does your device have a screen protector on it? I read where another member had the same problem because there were particles in between the screen protector and the screen. He removed the protector, cleaned the screen, added another protector and his problem disappeared.

Is it the material of screen protector problem?

I'm kinda funny when it comes to putting on a screen protector. lol The screen has to be perfect before I'll apply one. And when i say perfect, I mean PERFECT . It took me 30 minutes to put the one i have on it now. Another thing I've found is that the plastic ones work better than the vinyl protectors.

Ebay, really? It's probably a lot cheaper and you'll get a much better product going to XtremeGuard, buying 3 and getting 80% off using the 80OFF3 coupon.

I buy all of my screen protectors from Ebay. I've only gotten a bad package one time and the seller
took care care of it immediately and replaced them. As I mentioned above, I don't use the vinyl protectors either. I've had better results with the other ones.
Yes perfect. As perfect as I can get it anyways lol. You're right about it only taking a second for dust to get on the screen too. Crazy isn't it?

At ebay it cost around $4 for 3 so it's really worth it and it works, but never buy those with glare protection.

Oo but most protectors got bent by those mail people. I bought a few from, ebay and some of them got a bit bent on it.

Honestly, I've only received one in the mail so far and it came in a larger package with my tablet case. I'm expecting a set of 3 in a few days. Hopefully they won't be bent. I've never had any for my phone get messed up but they are much smaller. I'll let you know, they should be here by Monday.

I doubt it's the screen protector. I've had this problem since early november and only put the screen protector on towards the end of the month. A factory reset helped, but i don't see why i should be forced to set up my tablet from scratch every month! Does anyone know if it's a problem with the jelly bean update? Has it happened to people with ICS?
Also, my screen seems way too sensitive. it registers touches about half a centimetre from the screen

Run a hot shower. When the room is streamed clean your device and apply the protector. Keeps the dust off. I tape one end of the protector to the device before removing the protective backing then remove the backing and lower the protector to the device. Kind of like closing a door. Works every time.

I have had it all the time. Even woth ICS. I have sent it for repair twice and the second time it helped for 2months. then ghost spots reappeared. Always in the same place, upper left part of screen. I haven`t had a screen protector so it`s not it...
I 99% sure it is ASUS build quality and the digitizer is bad. This problem also applies for the ASUS nexus 7.
But now my digitizer and screen is cracked so doesn`t matter...
Hit thanks if I helped

Screen saver killed contrast?

I had a cheap screen protector sitting around that was for the TF101 but it worked with a little cutting.
But now the screen looks pretty dull. Its not a matte screen still has plenty of glare. But it wasn't a wet apply either. Just clear plastic. I don't remember it hurting the colors/contrast so much on my tf101 (had a 3 pack)
Colors look washed out now. Is this just to be expected if I want to protect the screen? Or should I spend the dough on a good one. I had an expensive wet apply before but I don't really like them. Plus it was like $30.
Anyone got an opinion on this? Crappy screen saver? It's bugging me blacks are like gray now. Want to take the screen saver off to compare but then I have to buy a new one.

Will a TF300 screen protector fit a TF700?

Hey, just wondering if the screenprotectors for a tf300 will fit a tf700?
Thx
It won't. The screen are different sizes. A screen protector for the TF201 will fit it though (I can confirm this as I put one on my new TF700T).
Hope this helps!

Actually it will; both are 10" screens. See my post here: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/30390-screen-protectorprotective-case/
The only concern is a VERY minor difference in camera and light sensor hole position.
Cool thanks. So the holes for the camera and light sensor on the tf201 screen protector line up?
That's good to know I just ordered a couple of anti glare protectors for the 201 hoping it will fit. Hoping it doesn't take away from the clarity of the screen.

Please post your thoughts on the anti-glare after you install it. Normally, it's the very first thing I do with my devices (for the anti-glare properties), but I've been hesitant to do this with the TF700, just because the screen is so damn nice... However, if it's doesn't interfere too much, I may re-consider....
Thanks!

No problem I ordered 3.
First 1 to test with half on the screen and the other half of the screen uncovered to see if there is any major clarity loss.
Second 1 if I like the test then it's staying on
Third 1 is backup.
Either or I'm most likely gonna keep it on cause even though screen is bright enough to overpower the glare its still annoying I myself tend to sit on my patio a lot or on my lounge chair next to the Window where the sun is strong. I will take pics and post them to see if you see a major clarity loss. Everyone is different.

Any update as to whether or not you are satisfied with the TF201 screen protector on your 700? reason why I'm asking is my 700 just came in and I'm going to pick it up tonight, thinking of making a stop at best buy to pick up an anti-glare screen protector and wanted to know if I should just grab a 201 vs a 700.
also any specific brand or any anti-glare should do? I'm rocking phantom skinz on my S3, pretty nice quality if you ask me but a screen protector is a screen protector so money comes first here. doing it more for the no-smudge and anti-glare then protecting the gorilla 2
They both fit size wise but you might need a hole puncher to line up the camera and sensor in the front. The 3 I ordered sucked. They take alot from the screen. I still have one left. Check it out I took a glare cover off cause be dock came in a couple of days ago. I had one more anyway. And in the time I took it off and the time I put the new one on I got a very faint but noticable 1mm scratch on my screen. Ask me how and I will tell you I don't know how. Must have been dust on my hand. Sucks
Put a screen cover guys.

The TF201 seems to be ok. Check this out here. Hope that helps.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1800389
I can confirm that our TF201, TF300, and future TF700 are all different screen protection systems. Also hole punch will end up leaving bubbles if you aren't extremely accurate in using one, so be careful! (That is on our dry GLARESHATTER system, wet systems can usually be hole punched fine). Also there is still slight cutting differences!
TF300 screen protectors definitely do not work. I bought a pack of high quality ones for the TF300 I use to own and they are mis-sized AND the camera slots are off (though only a little). The missized protector itself is trouble though as the TF300 is wider.
I got some TF700 screen protectors as I didn't want to risk TF201 protectors. Asus really moved all the buttons around to make the TF700 versus the TF201. I'm guessing putting all the antennae into the little plastic strip part of the tablet forced them to change their pcb.
Just a quick update. I purchased a Zagg screen protector for the TF201 and it fits perfectly on the TF700. Front camera and light sensor align correctly. Anyway, remember this is only in regards to the screen protector, I don't know about the full body protector.

SCREEN

Its this acceptable?
I'd have to say no there. That looks like it can get worse.
I don't think so, but it won't get any worse... It's just a manufacturing defect.
Let's say around 20-25% of the production have this kind of screen not firmly attached situation..
Nope. Quality control was very poor there. I'm a perfectionist. That would go back.
I would return that. Mine has a slight creak on the left bottom, but that's a whole other realm of defects

Is going back to Amazon
$500 is a lot of money.....
That actually looks like it doesn't fit the case properly. I have some seperation in the same spot but nothing that bad.
One question I am wondering if the serparation in this area is actually caused from the hinge on the dock when openning and closing? Anyone get seperation here who do not have the dock?
I have a slight lift and I don't have the dock yet. I don't see the inside like you can. That's bad.

I got one from Vimax and it works just perfectly! But i haven't faced any fingerprint problems from any brand's anti glare/matte finish screen guards! I think u are confused with clear screen guards! Those attract fingerprints and get sticky! But not the ones with matte finish!
So search any screen guards with matte finish and go for it!

But then the glare from the mirror like screen is too much! Unless u keep the screen brightness beyond 75%, u really can't read anything when the surroundings are bright!

Haven't had that issue myself (not being able to see the screen due to reflection), but just be warned - it basically turns your nice screen into "just another" 1280x800-looking screen. I couldn't believe the difference when I finally removed it (I had it on for about two weeks). I would *never* put another on...

I LOVE Zagg shield. I'm OCD, so fingerprints and smudges REALLY REALLY irk me to no end. I was cleaning screen every 15 minutes.
The Zagg shield is GREAT! LOW glare, and i only have to clean screen couple times a week now.
Lifetime free replacement warranty too. If it gets damaged, or you have to send tablet back for repair, just peel it off, send it in, and they'll send a new one. Only costs shipping.

If your fingers are moist, it will stick a bit. But i noticed same thing without shield. I also use a stylus most of the time.
yes, they have the orange peel effect and "sticky". I never really noticed the orange peel. The sticky is more of comparison to glass. It's not sticky, just has more friction/resistence to your finger. I've been using Invishield on my phones for almost four years, and never bothered me.
I'm using a matte screen protector I picked up from ebay for my tf700. Seems like it's the same as TF300. Loving it so far. No more glass glare and my finger glides a lot easier.

So who has been going naked?

I've had my TF700T for about 3 weeks. I had a screen protector put on it from new. Its already starting to show a few light scuffs and doesn't look so great when the screen is off.
I started in a similar way with my HTC One X. After a few weeks I took the screen protector off. Its been naked for a few months now and the glass is still perfect.

I've had a naked screen from day 1, but I have a cover for tab and dock, so I think it's well protected, like a laptop would be.

I have gone without screen protectors on my last 4 devices: TF101, TF201, TF700, Galaxy Nexus.
It's such a better experience.
My Infinity has been naked from day 1, but this is mainly because I'm worried about a screen protector interfering with the fit into the dock.
For the 201 I had a leather case up until I got the dock, then I went naked with the dock. When I got the 700 I did not get a new case and use it naked most of the time. The 201 case fits it perfectly (had to cut one notch in the edge for the volume button, but otherwise fits like it was made for it, so I use it if I'm going to take it out on the road undocked but that's fairly infrequent.
I never use screen protectors. It feels like the screen becomes less responsive. And some of them blur the picture a bit.

I don't think I've ever used screen protectors for any electronic. I'm usually careful with them to not to drop them or otherwise scuff them.
Naked, but its usually stored with the dock, so I should say it's a beardless clam lol
Going naked since day 1. Though I do keep it in the dock, closed, when not using it. Also, for travel I have a sleeve.
The point of the Gorillaglass is that you can use it without the need for a screen protector...

No screen protector here and have had the dock since a couple days after I got the tablet. I have noticed recently that there is a wear line right where the bottom of the keyboard is when they are together and closed (where the dock case rises up from the keyboard). Normally the little rubber tabs will hold the two apart, but apparently there's been enough force on it in my bag to force them together and rub a slight line in the screen.
Beware of that when transporting your Inifinity and dock.
No protection and screen still perfect after 2 months of intense daily use
