sch I535 with straight talk? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Hello, Im a rookie here, I cant seem to find a clear answer without having PRO DEV skills. All I want to know is, can I use my verizon galaxy s3 with straight talk gsm service in the united states? I realize it is a CDMA phone, but if im not mistaken it has a GSM radio in it. I read somewhere all I needed to do was download an app called "phone status" and change the settings to wcdma and insert a att sim card in. That seems too easy and I dont want to go blow $100 on a sim chip and phone card for nothing. Thanks in advance for any insight!

Verizon hasn't unlocked it yet for use on other networks. Jellybean leaks include the option in settings though. I'm not sure if it works

Yes and no. It depends on the market you are signing up in. GSM coverage is **** where iI live so all of the straightTalk phones here are CDMA.
It all really depends on what carrier they partnered with in your area.

SCH-I535 flash to Straight talk?
I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 can it be flashed to Straight Talk? I keep getting a sim card error. I try switching sims only find it doing the same thing. So I really dont want to use the sim card method. Can I just use a straight talk donor phone that I already have and use the info on the straight talk donor in the s3?

Trying to use T-Mobile on VZW GS3

I've been trying to put my GS3 working on T-Mobile and all i can get is Voice And Messages but the Data that i get is only Edge which is slow as a snail.
I've been using this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1809314
Is there anyway i can get 4G or atleast the 3G?
And is it because of the bands or frequency thing that it doesn't work?
Any help will be appreciated
I'm guessing here...download Verizon radio? See dev section

Probably a dumb question. Vzw sg3 on other USA carrier?

Looking at getting off Verizon, do not want to get another contract.
What is the status of our phone working on hspa? I've read in the development forum that in parts of Europe it gets hspa speeds as well as 3g so it's a Verizon thing?
Am rooted, unlocked yadda yadda running paranoid android rom.
Thx all.

Sell your phone for $300+, get a new one on your new carrier for less. Why keep it?

Thanks, but I am looking to set up on a prepaid service more or less. Guess I should have mentioned that in the op.

Won't work on US HSPA. There is a bounty thread in the forum trying to get it to work. Get another phone as other poster recommended. Will get EVDO speed. My other Rezound is Global on TMobile get EVDO only. Everything else will work tho.

SWITCH USCC gs3 to Verizon gs3

So US Cellular is done in Chicago and I refuse to purchase another phone if I can change over with my current one.
I am already rooted and wondering what I would need to do attempt to get the cmda to recognize Verizon. PLEASE HELP!

Surely changing the cmda can't be too difficult.

not sure if its still in effeect but didnt verizon "open" their network?
shouldnt you be able to call them and they might help you?
not sure if this situation applies but id try that
Well I'm not sure if I can activate my phone because it's currently in service with US Cellular and I don't have a second phone to swap temporarily while I test.
Currently I can goto Verizon's Activation website entered my IMEID and it says not compatible. Could be not possible but eternally everything should be the same minus the LTE capabilities. There may be
another way but I can't find my box with my ESN on it.

Quick ? about Verizon S3 and ATT 3G

I have a quick question for everyone. I have a Verizon Galaxy S3. I am wanting to move to Straight Talk on ATT Service. I put in a Straight Talk SIM, and input the APN Settings that I had acquired.
The only service I could get was "E", which I'm assuming is Edge Service. I was just curious if anyone knew anything I could do to help the phone at least get HSPA on AT&T(Straight Talk)?
Thanks.

From my understanding it does not work that way. The only service you'll get is edge.

3G
I believe the model is missing the HSPA+ freq. needed in the USA. I have heard that it does get the HSPA+ with SIM card in other countries, but only EDGE in USA.

CDMA S3. End up being a paper weight??

Hi guys.
So i was given an cdma S3 as a present.
Now I do not know what network it belongs to.
Is there a way I can
a) Find out if its verizon or sprint?
b) Unlock it ?
c) wild question.... Can it be changed to GSM
Thanks
To find out the carrier that it belongs to: Settings - About Phone - Model Number. Go to Google and then type in the model number ... Voila! You cannot switch to GSM.

You can use a CDMA S3 on GSM networks. I am using one right now. If you pop your GSM SIM card in the phone, you will have service to make calls and text. Getting data is a bit trickier.

Well, no. Sprint has prepaid plans, right? And with WiFi its a small tablet. There are tons of thing to do with it. If you don't want it, I can give you my mailing address

Is there really no sim card under the battery on the Sprint S3? I wasn't aware of that but clearly so since I don't own one.

From what I've read, Sprint does not use Sim cards. I could be wrong though.

The lte sim card is built in, under the center mid cover. Unfortunately, I have never tried to rrplace one with a prepaid.
I can, and have, flashed them to boost mobile and page plus. Talk and text is easy using wifi to update the profile, but data better than 1x is trickier, and requires a "friend".
