If the device doesnt turn off you should use the reset button, use a pin to poke the reset hole.

I can only think of two things not tried.
1. Open unit disconnect battery hold volume down and reconnect battery; may not work either.
2. Send for repair.
Anyone else have an idea or thought?

If he can't get to recovery means it's bricked and need to be sent to asus for repairs. I wonder if its expensive to fix a bricked device..

Hi all
I got problem on my asus TF101 the device still restart and doesn't work !!
Any help please T_T ..
What were you doing before this happened, i.e. was it working fine?
Are you rooted and/or on a custom rom?
Were you trying to flash a new rom before this happened?

look at the video .. plz
youtube.com/watch?v=PY_MIZ5C2KA&feature=youtu.be
well I couldn't see exactly which buttons you were pressing, but it looled like you were in apx mode first and then just wiped your userdata.
Since your b80 nvflash is no option (apx mode, power + volume up)
To get to recovery you have to press power + volume down followed by volume up when asked for it. If you don't press volume up in time you end up wiping your user data and that will do you no good.
In the video it looks like you hit volume up to slow after power+ volume down.
well hope it helps.
i was trying to do a factory reset on my TF700, and it was rooted.. but it froze during the reset, now when i try to turn it on it says "device is unlocked" and shows the asus and tegra logos, but stays there, if i hold volume down when i hole the power button it says "booting recovery kernel image" and freezes... i have no selection that i can select between here.... and lastly if i hold volume up, im able to detect APX through my computer and have the proper driver installed, but i dont know where to go here
so is it bricked? what do i do now?

Then not much you can do but to send out for repair, you could try to keep it off for awhile and try again, hopefully it can boot into recovery, but very slim at this point.
Just for the hell of it, hit the reset button too, maybe magic will come!

according to other brick cases, bricked devices due to bootloaders need their motherboard replaced. after repairs you will not be able to unlock it again.

that sounds absolutely rediculous for a bootloader error, and unable to ever be unlocked again?.. thats insane that they would do that, but i heard about it before.. this all happened because of a faulty backup image to begin with, that froze my damn tablet while reverting to factory settings... makes me so angry that this is their policy....
so has anyone else had this issue before? and what did it cost?

Well obviousely you don't have nvflash backup. You only can make a backup of nvflash if you have build version .26, once you updated, there is NO WAY you can make nvflash backup. The problem is there is no way we can communicate with your device to dump any image since the recovery is gone (corrupted). You need this recovery so you can push or load file/image etc.. from your sdcard or from your PC. All you can do now is keep playing with it and hope for miracle for some how you can get back in recovery mode.
well this is exactly what comes up when i hold power and volume down... im not sure if this means much to anyone
also, it speaks of checking for an android ota recovery, however it cannot find one... where is an ota recovery image located? im assuming somewhere over the internet?... or is it on a removable SD card?

Well, what are you trying to do?
If you want to install a custom ROM or a custom recovery, you need to unlock your device first.
When running stock ROM, why do you need recovery?
If you have issues with stock ROM ASUS support should be helpful.

If you have stock ROM and you hold power+Vol down then Vol Up...it will boot into stock rom recovery...which is the android robot laying down. Nothing wrong there...that's what is supposed to happen.
That is the same way to get to a CUSTOM recovery such as TWRP but in order to install that, you need to have your tablet unlocked using the Asus APP unlocker. This is downloadable from the Asus website. Read carefully before you install it...if you don't care to install custom ROMs, then dont bother.

Before you proceed with the following, it is really important to tell me what you eventually want to do.
If you don't care, then go ahead and try first:
1. Go to settings, developer options, make sure USB debugging is checked. Then do the power+vol down to see if USB icon appears.
2. If that doesn't work, try settings, backup and reset, then reboot with power+vol down. Warning: This resets everything so all your data will be erased.

point 1 and point 2 have already try. Still only 2 icon show and no USB icon.
I think it should be need to unlock the table or update to JB.
I just want to know other user have same issue or not before I unlock or update the table.
Uhmmmm. The extra 2 icons show when you upgrade to jb. The jb upgrade includes an upgrade to the bootloader which is where these icons appear.
That being said if you don't intend to unlock or use fastboot mode, then you don't need these and perhaps you should stop trying to mess around in sensitive areas. If your intent is to unlock, root, update to the latest firmware and or load a custom ROM, there is a guide in the general section which explains all of this starting in ICS and moving up to jb. Go find it.

Two extra icons appear in JB yes but the usb icon should be there even with ICS. I can confirm since I soft bricked my tablet on ICS when I first got the tablet and needed to fast boot and nv flash using apx to get it working again... He's messed something up and the only way to really get everything back is to restore to stock. However he won't tell me what he intends to do so I can't really help him any further...

As I see it, the only reason to unlock your tablet is to get access to fastboot, right?
So it seems reasonable, that the USB/fastboot icon is not showing on a locked device.
Might be all quite as intended.
Unfortunately I can't check this, as my tablet is already unlocked, but it seems like a good guess.

If you mean powering on and off (bootloop) then hold volume down and if lucky after two or three times of powering on you may get the bootloader menu.
If you mean the screen just flashes then try the reset while holding volume down.
reset: small hole about 25mm or 1inch below the sdcard slot. Use a small paperclip. Press in gently and it will stop. Press slightly harder and you will feel a spring collapse, release.
Good Luck!
If the first method fails you can try the reset even in a bootloop.
and a reset while holding volume down can put you into the bootloader.

I'm sorry I have no more because of the situation of your tablet.
Maybe someone else will find this and help.
Can you get to fastboot? I.e can you power on with power + dwn and get it to stabilize (not reboot) at the fastboot screen?
If you can get there, then maybe you can reflash your recovery (make sure you use the right one), and then from there, either install a new ROM or restore from a backup?
no luck with the fastboot at all I think there is no hope for this tablet I have tryed everything I can think of. :crying:

without resorting to sending the tablet to Asus, is replacing the motherboard. I found one on ebay for around $100. Cheaper than sending it to Asus...
That would be nice if asus would make a software that would work on the new update something like Nflash I hate to think everyone that bricked the tf300t needs to buy a new motherboard to fix it. I know there is a work around out there that can do it but trying to find it is another story lol. But im giving up for now and hopeing someone comes up with something
Hello everyone,
This is my first post here so forgive my errors (if any):
I have tried a few things on my TF700:
1. I have installed the rooting tool from asus website and after activating it,
The first boot scrren said (on top left corner) "the device is unlocked"
When running the app again it would give an error.
2. I tried soft reset - nothing there.
3. I went for hard reset - I accidently went for the left most icon....
After a little investigation on a few pages here I think it is in APX mode..???
It turns on but stays in the first screen with the white ASUS logo on screen & thats it...
Any ideas anyone???
How do I save my precious TF700??
I tried connecting to it through USB installing (Linux):
cat > /etc/udev/rules.d/60-nvflash.rules <<END
# nvflash support for Nvidia Tegra systems attached to USB
SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTR{idVendor}=="0955", ATTR{idProduct}=="7820", MODE="0660", GROUP="plugdev"

It turns on but stays in the first screen with the white ASUS logo on screen & thats it...
Any ideas anyone???
How do I save my precious TF700??
I tried connecting to it through USB installing (Linux):
With no luck...
What can I do???
Thanx...

If you use the Asus unlock tool, you should not brick your device. It looks like that you wipe your system some how. I am guessing here... Can you do some test for me? If you on the Asus screen, just press the power button for about 10 seconds until it shuts down and then keep holding the power button with the volume down at the same time until you are going back to the three icons, thanks. I just want to see if you can get back to your recovery...

Than you for you reply...
I already tried that...it just loops the same shut down to ASUS LOGO screen with no response to the volume down button.
I also let it run out of power so to try & get it out of this loop which resembles an APX loop but in vain...it just keeps on powering up to the same state...
Will give it another go....
There isn't even a pause where I can slip the volume down button in, that is why I let it run out of power to slip the volume down button in...& that is what I am going to do now...let it charge for a short while and power it up with the volume down button (which did not work for several tries...)

I believed that I can not help you any further with this issue because my knowledge is limited in this situation. I hope that somebody else can give you a good advice.. Good luck..
Hold down volume down and keep held down whilst holding the power button down for at least 10 secs. What happens?

I have do this several times (but will try again) and it just powers back up to the same screen...
Did anyone refer you my suggestion of it being in APX mode??
What happens if I put a micro SD Card in the slot??
What is that left most logo on the hard reset screen?
What is that right most logo on the hard reset screen?
I know the center is the android...
HELP!!!
Where are all the experts here??
If an SD Card does function, what do I need to have on it in order to restore the state of my ASUS to functional?
Thanx to all those who are giving my POST some thought...

The device will enter in APX mode only with the Volume UP + Power buttons combo and to get out of that mode you need to hold the Power button for at least 10 seconds.
If you can't get to the bootloader menu (the one with the 3 icons) anymore you are out of luck and only Asus can repair your device. APX it's useful only if you have the NvFlash backup.
Inserting a microSD with an original Asus firmware is also useless if you can't access the bootloader menu because you can't boot in recovery mode.

Make sure you do EXACTLY what sdbags said - he IS the expert.
With the tablet powered OFF, press and hold BOTH the power button and volume down button together, for at least 10 seconds. It should bring you back to the screen with the 3 icons. RCK, android robot icon, wipe. RCK gets you to recovery mode where you can use TWRP for recovery/flash installs, etc. Middle android is the cold boot option which sometimes fixes problems like you're having. Don't do wipe unless someone like sdbags explicitly tells you.
Hope you can fix this.

Well guys...thank you all for your help & time...
I tried everything anyone here suggested but unfortunately ended up with the same result: ASUS white logo screen.
The tablet is still under the first year time period...any suggestions as for how to get it fixed (RMA) without paying tones of money?
What should I say happened???
Guess RCK does not work on my device...(?)
Thank you all...
Did you try the middle android icon to see if that helped? You switch to the middle one by pressing volume down, then select it by pressing volume up.
The device also have a reset button (a tiny hole near the micro hdmi port),use a paperclip to press it and hope for the best.
As for the RMA ,Asus could charge you for repairing because you unlocked the bootloader but some users here on XDA also reported that Asus repaired their device for free even if the bootloader was unlocked.

I have only APX mode available and I have the NvFlash backup.. Is there any way to bring him to life? I can't enter bootloader menu or recovery.
