[Q] CM10 : battery drain problem - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all,
I was using stock 4.1.2, I just installed the CM10 (1105 release to have the play store working well) and I have a problem with the battery usage.
With stock 4.1.2 I had an excellent battery life : around 11hours (mostly web browsing).
With CM10, I am now around 9 hours with the exact same usage. So I was wondering if I had a wrong parameter set for battery life somewhere.
I don't use overclocking (minimal speed = 200 mhz, max 1000, strategy = interactive).
Does anyone know what parameter could be responsible of such a battery drain in CM10 ?
I read that KSM parameter is better for performances but let the CPU use more battery ... Is it right ? (I will test this).
What is your own battery life using CM10 ?
Thanks !

it Could be related to wifi sleep policy. From settings wifi advanced , make Sure the Parameter keep wifi on during sleep is not set to Always. set it to Never.

Thanks a lot ! That was my problem, I'm back to more than 10h of battery life.

How Do You Improve The Battery On V4 Rom?
Thanks for the help
Post a little about your setup:
- apps installed that run constantly (i.e. K9 mail, Wifi searching, etc)
- overclock values (if any)
- list your normal usage rates (rarely on the internet, playing music all the time, phone & mail only, etc.)
There are various ways to improve the battery life like SetCPU where you can slow the CPU down when it's not needed. Also, turn off your data when sleeping. Lot's of ways....need info first.

1. stock apps really ,
2. 1GHZ
3. internet used every 10 mins, dont play music, just stuff general
2G or 3G more? Wifi?
OK, what kind of battery life do you get?
battery
Follow the usual stuff. use 2g instead of 3g. disable WiFi when not in use. Additionally you can use your Milestone Overclock (included in ROM) to lower the maximum frequency of the chip. I use 1Ghz at 60 vsel. thats a bit overclocked but my battery life is fine. Anyways try that and see if it improves

thank you so much my vsel is 64 and now my battery lasts ages thank you
btw what does vsel mean?
vsel means voltage
btw I've learnt a vital way of saving juice from my local forum. use setcpu and set a profile for "screen off". put the cpu speed to 250max, priority 100, powersaver.
this successfully reduced my batt consumption by at least 50% as I am a light user and the phone is idle most of the time. now it lasts me through 2 days on a charge

Wakelocks

Any ideas on managing the wakelocks on Android and specifically on the Infinity?
I've checked the option of switching off WiFi with screen-off, but in my battery usage stats I still see that over 10% of battery is consumed by Google Services with 672 wake locks & device waked 77 times (WiFi drain itself is 13,5%, so quite OK). This is what GSam Battery Monitor shows. Android stock battery management (in Settings) shows 51% drain by Google Services and 26% by WiFi (but I believe these stats are wrong most of the time or just measure a different thing, as they show tablet inactive with 2% bar and it has been inactive most of the time actually).
I have google auto-sync on and I need it, but I still think this is too high a number. I don't get 672 e-mails daily, so these shouldn't be PUSH notifications etc.
I'm not sure if I'm the only one seeing these high numbers there?
Have you tried CPUspy for finding out how much time in deep sleep you have?
Better Battery Stats is also a needed tool to find more about wakelocks
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
Yes, I'm looking at it from time to time, but thanks for this. I had some issues when I started this thread, after wipe and re-flashing new firmware it seems OK in the stats: Deep Sleep 44%, 102MHZ 16%, 1500MHz 24% (running on balanced mode, interactive governor).
I'm still curious to get to know how to manage wakelocks under Android from (low) system level however.

Ways to save battery

I've used the N5 for a few days now and I must say I'm impressed with everything except for the battery.
So the thing is, i really gave no craps about the battery on my Defy because I didn't care much for the phone either; so I'm sort of confused and out of ideas for battery saving.
I haven't rooted yet, but when I do my best guess would be just to down-clock the CPU, but how well does that really work? I use No-Frills and it works about 93% of the time, other times it just reverts. Do I need a kernel?
I keep it on about 10% brightness because I like soft lighting and screens. That works to a certain extent as well as the fact that I'm not a data user and I always turn wifi off when I'm not using it (like, immediately I will go and toggle it).
Other than turning off sync, is there anything else I'm missing? A good app maybe?

Few things i've done is turn off wifi always scanning. set location to device only. undervolt -75 and max cpu 1575. i'm using cataclysm rom and frank r16 which was just recently released. when i was on r14 kernel i was getting about 7hour 1% drain on idle connected to wifi. I also try to monitor what I want to have push notifications for. So check what you have constantly Syncing.

Biggest changes for me were:
-Disable Hotword detection. Turn it back on when you want to impress friends and otherwise hit the mic button manually. Increases Screen on Time.
-Disable Auto sync. Set an automation to only sync while charging instead. Increases Battery at all times, may slow charging a tad.
-Disable Locations. Enable if needed on the go. Can't automate this with Llama but I'm guessing it would work using Tasker. Many less wake locks you can go hours without a single one now.

use On demand . then underclock cpu to 1ghz , disable NFC , disable GPS , use auto brightness (can be set using CM profiles , when not in good netowrk area use wifi if available , or just turn off network if both 3G and 2G are sturggling .. AVOID THOSE BATTERY SAVER NOOB APPLICAIONS , THEY KEEP YOUR CPU AWAKE HENCE DRAINING MORE POWER EVEN N ALSO USING NETWORK FOR ADVERTISEMENTS .
TAP THAT THANKS IF I HELPED

[Q] Nexus 5 - Blueetooth prevents Deep Sleep Mode

Hi Guys,
Been searching all over for this, but can´t find anything conclusive.
I´ve been looking at my CPU Deep Sleep counters and found out that if I have Bluetooth enabled, being pared or not, the CPU will never go to deep sleep mode.
Is this normal? Even though I have Wifi, GPS, Location, etc enabled, the phjone goes to deep sleep, but as soon as I power the BT, the phone starts using the lowest CPU Mode available in my Governor.
I´m currently using FKU with Franko Kernel r59.
This is not a huge battery drain but at night, without the BT turned on I have like 1% of drain per 4-5 hours and with BT on I get like 5% of drain per the same timeframe.
Thanks for your time reading and helping !

Great!...
Just like 5 minutes after the Relase came along!...
Confirming that now BT doesnt wake up the CPU and "everything" looks Normal!!
