[Q] Will samsung galaxy note 10.1 get jb 4.2 - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i would really love to use the multi user on my galaxy note 10.1. does any know if samsung will update to 4.2 as there is only talk of 4.1 update.

We shall get may be six months or do if we are lucky

Probably not, by the time it would take for them to push it out they'll have released a new flagship tablet.

I really hope not. I don't like it on my nexus 7 at all. it's one of the reasons I didn't get a nexus 10. The overall general usability just seemed better before 4.2 on the nexus 7. It's hard to qualify I know as it is just a general feeling. I really want 4.1 but beyond that I'm ok.

Well by the time they taking just to launch maybe we will jump on 4.2 but who knows

Nexus has better hardware and better support.
SGT has larger screen and expandable memory.
I'd go for N7

i have enough cash with me right now to buy a nexus 7 but i still long for a sgs3
Nexus 7 because of newer features.
Nexus 7
Nexus 7 for having better processor.
iPad 3 for bigger screen.
Nexus 7 if you want Android updates that bring better features.
I have a Galaxy Tab 10.1 and it's still on Android 3.2 honeycomb.
It's one of the reasons that I bought this nexus. My future android devices will all be nexus.

hi jainkashish96! for me is nexus 7 for same reasons of choosing galaxy nexus. it's google's "official" tablet, full support, fresh updates with no long waiting, no limitation caused by other company and olso an nvidia kay! i think Kay is one of the best idea for mobile world, especially for tablets . don't forget the dimension, perfect for me, a good compromise.
Nexus 7 for sure Go for it
take a look at this, http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/28/nexus-7-review/ and keep in mind function like google now that is million times better than s-voice that personally consider an app/service that samsung had to add for upcoming voice assistant services, but is only a s**** app on a device, badly developed
interessant question i have the same problem do you want hel pme please?

Are you sure' I have doubt.. I don't know what to do really... mmmm

the tf700 came out before the galaxy note 10.1

and the galaxy note 10.1 appears to have a much better dev community. I can't help but think i should return my tf700 for a note 10.1
thoughts?
samsung devices have a bigger following. that's it.

I think some of this has to do with the fact that there are slight variations from the 300 to the 700, the 300 has a larger community but we can't just grab those devs since the differences in models are just enough to make it a pain, but the models are close enough that 300 owners probably won't upgrade. Compound this with the Nexus 7 and so many modders got that because its cheap and pure android and you see what we are in. Finally, the tablet just dropped (is about to drop?) in Europe so that shrinks the pool a bit.

How much is an unlocked rom really worth? On phones it's worth a lot because of all the bloatware and need to maximize battery life but on tablets ... most have so little bloatware. I would rather have a much quicker Jellybean than all the Rom support in the world at this current time.

Have u checked that section... Most roms are for the n8000 and not the 8013 (wifi) version... And it doesnt look like its anything special anyways... Lol just sayin

It will get there once JB lands. Just a waiting game pretty much atm.

Wait nevermind, I'm too OCD not to upgrade in that time.
Getting JB a million years earlier should ease the pain.

I am working on getting custom ROMs on this thing and I am starting with JB directly. No use making an ICS custom ROM when JB is coming soon. Its not been easy to get this done. I have a booting JB version but loads of stuff needs fixed. I'd wait for a JB version and use those libs to make a new build with.

I have to agree. Tablets are relatively clean. I have zero desire to do anything beyond the freezing of unneeded apps that I've already done.

It makes sense, though we're all getting antsy over here, waiting for something new to flash.

Will our tab be able to run the Multiscreen function?

So the Galaxy Note 10.1 has this cool little features called Multiscreen, basically you can run two different applications side-by-side simultaneously. Now the Note 10.1 is to run on ICS, so what would be the chances of implementing this on our tabs? Or is it even possible?
Sent from my GT-P6800 using xda premium
it depends on our hardware, if our tab can handle this kind of mods, i think that Samsung will push it in newer updates (in case they don't forget about us) or they will (as usual) release a new 7.7 inch tablet with all those new features of the note and tab 2.

Guess if another 7.7 does come out and it offers this option maybe it could be ported, I don't know if another 7.7 will be released our tab hasn't had that much success and with the success of the Nexus 7 I highly doubt there will be another 7.7
Sent from my GT-P6800 using xda premium
yeah but our tab haven't seen the success because of apple lawyers, otherwise, it should be one the best selling tablets (the thinnest, lightest, gorgeous screen, good hardware..)

Galaxy Tab 7.7
I read somewhere (can't find the article now) that some Galaxy Note 2 where missing the Multiscreen function but others where not, it all had to do with the ones that where missing it had an older firmware. So now my question is since both the Note 2 and galaxy Note tab 10.1 have it, could it be possible to port it over to our tab? Or it won't work because of the screen size?

Samsung galaxy SIII or Samsung Note 2?

Guys i m selling my i9003 i have learnt very much from this device about firmware custom Rom etc
But sorry to say bye ....Can any body tell me which phone should i buy .....Samsung galaxy SIII or Samsung Note 2?
Sent from my GT-I9003 using xda app-developers app
I would go for Note 2 without doubt. At similar prices (around 50-100$ diference) the Note 2 is much comfortable to use it with two hands, but Galaxy S3 is neither good on one or both hands (I hope this changes with s4)
Sincerely I will go for the HTC One (or One X+ although is a bit old). Only because of the materials, and the grip.
Yes definately go fot Galaxy Note 2.
or spend more and go for Galaxy S 4
cuz one simply doesnt go for an outdated phone

I think it's not a bright idea to choose between the 2 phone 'cus they both have the same problem when you use custom ROM. Check the team Hacksung wiki for the problems. If you like flashing, go to Sony phones (Xperia Z or ZL)
I just want better display..no laggy user interface...and most important it should get further updates.

I bought the S3. It's a great phone and I have no regrets. It seems big at first coming from the SL, but 2 days later, it just fits perfectly in the hand and the size is about as big as is comfortable for one-handed use. I use my S3 with one hand all the time.
The Note 2 seems too big. But I have never owned one.
As for the UX, the S3 is unbelievably snappy. It never lags and the screen is BEAUTIFUL.
I am using the stock ROM because it really is better than CyanogenMod. Samsung really made a beautiful TouchWiz experience on the S3. I flashed CM10.1 and I felt like I was missing out on the great features Samsung put in the S3, so I went back to stock. Vanilla android seems too empty for such a powerful phone. TouchWiz makes sense.
You can wait for the S4, but I think the S3 isn't going to lose any attention anytime soon for being such a beast of a phone. Few S3 owners are going to upgrade to the S4. S4 buyers will probably be S1 and S2 owners as well as owners of other android phones. S3 to S4 isn't a significant enough upgrade for the investment. The S3 won't lose dev support, neither Samsung support. It's getting JB 4.2.1 shortly after the release of S4 and there's already a leaked firmware, but the current official ROM is 4.1.2.
PS: The S3 forum is a wild place with a horrible atmosphere. Since I bought my S3, I still visit the SL forum frequently and enjoy the energy here. Cheers!
Thanks

NOTE 2 !!!!!
NOTE 2 is bigger, but u have to think if this is an advantage for you (maybe small hands :fingers-crossed:, or u find hard to keep it in ur jeans' pockets...). But i find NOTE 2 not very expensive and it has better performance than S3
So, what did you end up buying?
Galaxy s3...made for humans

Welcome aboard, buddy.
I went from the SL to the S3 too. Don't regret it one bit! Welcome to the club man.
Those forums aren't as bad as I've seen some get, however, the atmosphere over here is great. Check out the S3's Indian owner's thread if you want an atmosphere like this.
Tip: try the Perseus kernel and play around with it a bit.

Who here only buys Nexus phones?

The nexus 4 is my first nexus phone and won't be the last. And to be honest I don't think I'll buy anything else but nexus phones from here on. All these other android phones are terrible with bloat and ugly ui skins.

Me and my wife both own the Galaxy Nexus, and my son has a Nexus 7. Nothing but Nexus in my house. Always first for OTA's and pure, unadulterated ANDROID...
Galaxy Nexus rockin' AOKP MR1 Build 3 w/ Franco 364.....
Hello,
I only buy Nexus phone, first the Nexus One (live long and prosper), and now the Galaxy Nexus.
Usually they have the best support, good hardware and good price.
the 3 things I consider the most important.
Nexus 7 and 10 here.. Waiting for my Samsung phone to die so I can get a Nexus phone.
Strongly considered the 4, but the non-removable battery and lack of microSD support killed any chance of me owning one.
I got my s3... but really want a nexus now.. I just wish they had expandable memory. Sure a removable battery would be nice, but the memory is the bigger need of the two.. I think Google does that so you use their cloud services.

Look it up. :trooper:
Currently still in my nexus s and ill change to the n4 in july!
Ill never get a non-nexus! ;D
I have an s3 right now...but in the future I will only buy nexus phones, because of good developer support and AOSP.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
I do love the look of the Nexus phones, but no micro-sd means I won't buy one, it just tells the manufacturers they can get away with hampering us, so unless Google ever puts expandable storage on, I'll never buy a Nexus device. Flashing another phone to something aosp based is really easy, so Nexus goodness without the drawback
I use a Tab 2 7.0 as a giant phone thats also a tablet aka phablet
I sure hope by the time this thing breaks, Nexus 7 will have proper phablet support, or, there will be a 5" nexus phone.
Have a Galaxy Nexus and a Nexus 7 : Completely Filled ! <3
I think as you all! Better Android stok that have all those changes that slow down devices
My n4 is my first nexus, but I probably won't be getting the next nexus if the continue to skip important features for me like lte, microsd and a larger battery. I actually haven't been so dissatisfied with a phone before.
