whatsapp problem - General Questions and Answers

i have a samsung galaxy s captivate rooted and running cyanogen mod & miui. i've had whats app installed on it since july. i change my simcard to another phone (htc) for work coz i dont want my samsung to get damaged. it also has whats app installed so when i put it in i have to reverify.
likewise when i get home from work and put the sime back in my cappy i have to reverify whatsapp again on it.
i do this mon-fri and have for the past 2 months.
today i went to work with the simcard in htc and was propted to reverify whatsapp. fine. come home and put sim back in cappy. it propmted me to verify went through the process got sent a code text then it said "Initializing" for ages and i keep getting message "failure. sorry unable to complete initialisation"
i've tried rebooting the phone, i've also tried unistalling and reinstalling the app itself.
any ideas whats caused this and how to fix it?
I AM FULLY CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET (WIFI)

it seems there is a problem at their end
sync contacts dosent work thats a problem
if u have backup restore it which i did able to send msg but not able to refresh contacts
lets us hope they fix it soon

so there is an ongoing problem with the actuall app just now?
it said something about previous msgs detected do i want to restore then i clicked yes but again it wont get past the initialization.

Yes ongoing probs
now it seems solved my contacts is up but status msg is shown as error
Restore the whole app if you had backed up with titanium backup or similar apps
WhatsApp status functionality is currently not available. We are working on resolving it soon-ish...

Google sign in

Every time I reboot my phone I get the notification that I didn't get signed into google... didn't have this problem before... I installed CWR through NVFlash today I wouldn't think that had anything to do with it but you never know... Also in CWR when I hit reboot it just turns the phone off w/out the reboot... Any ideas?

google issues
FYI i do work for tmo and there is a known issue going on with google including syncing calanders, contacts, and the ability to login. so its not anything you are doing. it is a global issue. but some may not be having the issue. it is being working on and should be back up soon. Oh and i say this off the record lol..
Is it making you resign in every time? Installing CWR should have nothing to do with that at all.
And, yes, in CWR, it also turns the phone off for me without rebooting. As far as I'm concerned, it's a non-issue. Just click the power button to turn it back on until it's fixed in an updated version.
Thanks for the help... the app should have a thanks button!

[Q] Droid 3, Serious SMS issues, Stumped verizon Tech's

Hello everyone,
So im gonna make this short and sweet.
Had a thunderbolt, it was plagued with the nasty " sending texts to the wrong contacts " issue.
Got verizon to send me a droid 3! WOO AWESOME...
first thing i did was re sync, re download a few apps. cool great awesome story, but i noticed as soon as it was activated any text i send to a verizon phone gives me the delivery report " failed " ( using GOSMS. ) but i can recieve them, works with AT&T though... so..
called verizon, did a hard reset, re activated re updated PRL and had them do some stuff on their end.. to no avail.
Finally, put the phone into safe mode. sent a text using the stock text messaging application..worked fine.
so i uninstall GOSMS re install.. same issue, So i tried handcent.. same issue.
Now, this is reflected in the stock app. so if i send a message in GOSMS, and it fails.. if i go to the stock app it reflects that and says it failed.. ive tried EVERY messaging application and they all do the same thing... at this point im confused and out of things to try.
anyone have any idea's?
thanks in advance!

Unlocked and rooted s3 now I have a crazy problem

I recently got the copy and paste bug for the Galaxy S Verizon. it was driving me crazy so I decided to root. I did a backup and then I attempted to fix it. The fix worked but then I had a whole other problem. Now whenever I make or receive a call, the screen goes blank and I get the error com.android.phone has stopped. Then my signal goes away and I have to reboot to get it back. I have search multiple forms and found that facebook sync can cause it, as well as some other third party apps with access to your contacts. I do not have a facebook and I have tried to unlink and unsync everything with no luck. Does anyone have any ideas?

New FW and gear manager New issue

I just did the new FW update and the new gear manager update. Now at what appears to be random time when I unlock my phone it goes directly to my contacts then contacts crashes. I uninstalled gear manger and it never happened as soon as I re-installed it it started again. My phone in a stock rooted note 3. Anyone else seen this issue?

I am rooted and running Freeza's fre3 ROM. I started getting this when I first got my Gear 2 but that was with the original firmware and gear manager. I posted about it in the Sprint Note 3 section but nobody answered. I haven't seen it for a few days so hopefully yours will go away too. I got the new gear manager yesterday but still don't have the firmware update and I still haven't seen the contacts issue again.
Try going into notifications in great manager and turning off smart relay. That solved it for me

My issue is that my gear keeps disconnecting constantly at random saying Disconnected because out of range when the phone is in my pocket. Also with the new update in notifications the apps I used dissapeared. Now its just the stock phone, msgs, s calendar. I use chomp SMS for txt and now it,s not there anymore either. Seems like Samsung just keeps ruining things with every update
I thought I was the only person with the contacts and phone logs popping up as well. It happened after the gear update. However I didn't put 2 and 2 together at the time. I believe I fixed it so far by uninstalling the contacts and phone app through titanium backup.

Phone (app) keeps stopping...

When I go to make a phone call with the Galaxy S8+, the contacts part of the app runs fine, I can select a contact and then click call.
But once the call starts I get the message 'Phone has stopped' & 'Phone keeps stopping', and there is no way for me to end the call...
I have tried booting into safe mode and making a call, but I get the same issue...
Is anyone else experiencing this?
*FIXED*
Uninstall the updates for the package 'com.samsung.android.incallui'.

That sounds strange. Never encountered such a behavior on my S8+

What version of the phone app are you using?
Do mention other details as well like Exynos or SD, and whether it's a WiFi call, VoLTE or just an ordinary phone call.
I had the same issue a couple weeks after updating the phone or contacts app with an apk file, cant remember which one it was.
Stranger thing was that when I wanted to make a call it actually did make the call while the popup was there that phone app was closed.
As I was not able to uninstall the update I did a factory reset of my S8+. Same issue was there after the reset, I ended up doing a clean flash with odin. Everything is fine now.

That may have been what has happened to me, as I updated the phone/contacts apk's a few weeks back...
Thanks guys!
I'm guessing that I am going to need to find the default apk and restore it (com.android.phone)
*UPDATE/FIXED*
Just in case this affects anyone in the future.
I fixed it by using 'Package disabler pro' to uninstall the updates for the package 'com.samsung.android.incallui'.
I figured it out by monitoring the logcat (to monitor background errors from the developer tools), and I spotted that the error was coming from this package, so after removing all updates for it, now all works fine again.
I hope that this will save anyone from having to re-flash in the future!
I just used PDP to uninstall it as I find that tool to be quite effective at showing all info needed about the package before making any changes, but I'm sure that you can remove the updates with any other app!
@thuglife:
You may want to take note just in case it happens again in the future!
