[Q] creating a JB cyanogenmod rom for ainol hero - General Questions and Answers

I have an ainol hero and would like cyanogenmod on it, as no one has attempted it yet I thought I would come to xda to find out how to do it myself.
The guides I read on creating ROMs are more about customizing custom roms and having an 'almost' identical ROM to work with.
So my questions to xda developers is how would someone with little to no experience creating/modifying ROMs create a working JB cyanogenmod ROM.?
Would it be a case of getting the 'stock' JB cyanogenmod base ROM and essentially importing my current ROMs system files into it?

AOKP vs CM10 - Main difference

Hi all, on my ex android smartphones I always have installed CM roms .
But now I can't find what difference there are between CM10 and AOKP.
I don't know what of this two good rom (reading the relative thread).
Can you explain it to me?
thanks a lot
W
ps: sorry if is an existing thread, but I don't find anythings on google.
AOKP:
http://aokp.co/index.php/about
CM10 = Cyanogen
They each have their websites--
Both are Kangs if you will of AOSP which is Googles unaltered OS. Pure AOSP like the Nexus One came with.
The two above are based on that with features added. May not be same features and other Devs may add their own features/cherry picks to them.
Hope that helps, I am not dev savvy and this is just a layman answer--

FYI there is no such thing as a good ROM for overclocking as it is the kernel not the ROM that does the overclocking. All the kernels are in the original android development section and are on the first page of that section.

I am running Liquidsmooth's RC1. They are releasing their update soon,
Does anyone have a favorite TW based ROM? I am looking for one based on 4.2. I also heard the international 4.2.1 has been leaded. Has anyone tried creating a ROM based on this release? The TW ROMs just look nices than the AOSP despite all the unnecessary features that are loaded.
The international version of the s 3 has different hardware then the US versions making the leak difficult to port. Also there isn't any TW 4.2 ROMs for this phone as Samsung is working on 4.1.2. Lastly we at XDA have realized that what works for one person doesn't work for others so it is best to check out the ROMs yourself and see what works best for YOU.

[Q] CM11 OC Kernel development in progress???

Hi all. I know the CM11 ROM is relatively new and all, but according to what I could find and my knowledge of over clock kernals on the HTC ONE X (AT&T-Evita), there is only two recent ones....? I tried both, seems one is for Sense based ROM's only and the other is JB (4.3). I loved the ElementalX, but recently stepped up to this KitKat build (which isn't supported by ElementalX Kernal) and am spoiled now. Not wanting to back up in version ROM's to achieve CPU/GPU OC, but the reason I even began getting into customizing these Androids was for overclocking purposes to see the max potential of these!! Just wanting to know if there are any OC Kernels in progress. Please and thank you!
I think you're a bit confused. If you're looking in our Android Development section for 4.4 kernels you're looking in the wrong place, you'll only find Sense kernels (like Elemental) there. Have you searched our Original Android Development section? That's where you'll find aosp ROMs, and of course the kernels that are compatible with them. There are already 4.4 kernels available.

All I've found is basic custom kernels for options and different software configurations. I've done so much searching my hairs turning gray!! Lol. I do have Root, S-Off, SuperCID, and now TWRP SeLinux for these 4.4 ROMs all thanks to you guys!
Anyway you could possibly send a link to a specific thread where I can find these kernels you speak of? Preferably the most popular and stable one...
BTW...awesome site! 5.4 million members for a reason!
Just read your signature and seen the "Torched KK Kernel" Trying it now. Thank you!!

[Q] Roms For Nexus5

Hey i am a newbie to whole rooting thing.....and finally just rooted my nexus5...i have noticed one thing that all the roms e.g.carbon,purity,etc. Are similar to the stock rom....and don't get me wrong bt i need roms that entirely change the device and not just tweak it....also i loved miui on n4 will that rom work on n5....??
Check "original android development" forum.

Hi,
Nope, the MIUI rom for the N4 will not work on the N5. Here's a thread for the N5: [ROM] [PORT] MIUI v6 [ALPHA 5] KitKat [RIL WORKING].
About the other roms you mentioned, yes in term of look they looks like to the stock rom (or almost, for example in Purity rom there is more white compared to the stock rom to follow a bit more the Kit-Kat guideline than Google make it with touch of blue here and there ) but not in term of features, you should read closely the OP of each rom...
Some roms include a Theme Chooser so you can change the look of your rom. All the rom in the original dev forum are not just "tweaked" like you said...
Better is to read and test by yourself to find THE rom that suits your needs.

What is the most stable/popular/well supported rom for TF300TG?

Hey guys sorry If this is in the wrong place, or an idiot faq.
I'm looking for the most stable or popular or well supported rom for a TF300TG. I understand that my mobile connection will not work on this model with custom roms.
I absolutely don't need any special features or speed or the latest version of Android, I just need simplicity and something slightly newer than 4.2.
I have seen Katkiss or perhaps Legacy as suggestions so far.
I haven't installed a custom rom since Cyanogenmod on a Desire HD six years ago. I'm also looking for recommendations for roms for that and a HTC Desire, but I'll go to their relevant boards of course.
