[ROM] [4.2.1] Stock rooted - Deodexed/Zipaligned + More - Nexus 7 Android Development

EDIT: Sorry guys, i won't be updating this with the new versions of android as my n7 broke. Sorry!
Hello people,
I made a zip file you can use to install stock android 4.2.1 on your nexus 7 using CWM
All downloads: HERE (Thanks to goo.im)
How to install:
Wipe data (may not be needed if you upgrade from stock)
Format /system
Install Zip
Reboot
Those zips contain the /system directory from a fresh 4.2.1 installation and the boot.img from the 4.2 factory image.
I removed recovery-from-boot.p
The rooted zip also includes SuperSU.
I will not include busybox, because scrosler already made it. Scrosler's thread
If you prefer Superuser instead of SuperSU, you can just install the official zip which you can find here. It will override SuperSU.
Addons/Extras/I don't care what it is called (can be installed in any ROM):
All extras are now hosted HERE (Thanks to goo.im for awesome hosting)
Extras info:
install_AOSP_browser_4_2_1-grouper.zip: This installs the AOSP browser in any ROM
deodex_zipalign_4_2_1-grouper.zip: This deodexes/zipaligns your ROM
odex_unzipalign_4_2_1-grouper.zip: This odexes/unzipaligns your ROM
clicking thanks would be nice... if you want...
Thanks to all that did!

I think so. I actually made this for people with custom roms, so they don't have to flash the factory image.

this file is only 295kb,is that correct??

Seems fine to me. People just need to make sure to uncheck the "use accelerator" option and download it directly. It should be a .zip not an .exe. If you see that you've downloaded an .exe, you did it wrong.
On a side note... this download is wicked slow.

I installed the root/zip/deodexed ROM and did a full wipe.
After all it looks like the system was indexing and syncing with Google: after 40mins the lag was gone.

Why my folder icon is much smaller than before, am i missing something ?

Option A: Rom US/WW 8.6.5.21 and CWM installed.
Option B has no Rom requirements. You just need CWM.
Notes:
-If you're flashing the FULL version, doesn't matter if you flash WW or US
Only difference between US TW WW versions is spell correction languages available (and I believe wifi channel 13 not available, but shouldn't be a problem)
Process for OPTION B (FULL VERSION):
-Boot into CWM
-WIPE data
-WIPE dalvik cache
-Install downloaded zip
NOTE: When installing the zip, the bar will stop, don't freak out. Just wait a few minutes.

how i can to flash andorid 4 on 8.6.5.21 unroot?
No wipe?
ok from krakd?
this is definitely a WIPE ALL situation. With Opt. A, you should have us firmware *.21. with opt. B, it doesnt matter which fw you are on. As long as you have clockwork installed, you can flash B. It also does not matter which rom you are coming from, just remember to wipe all
... and now I have a 2nd thread to monitor . nice.
Joking aside:
The _full_ version can be flashed from everything, doesn't matter. You will end up with stock US ICS rooted.
The smaller upgrade can only be applied if you are on US STOCK 8.6.5.21 (root or rooted doesn't matter).
I wiped and all is working fine, feel free to try without wiping.
Downloading now...
can it be flashed from internal aswell as external sd with rogue recovery - basic question but best to be safe
Im going to wait
for a no wipe version from krakd
i cant wipe i got loads of important stuff there
On a 50mb connection and downloading at 150k/s and declining...

[ROM] Defy+ 4.5.1-134 DFP-231 en.EU (2.3.6) CEE (Root)

Hi, I've done OTA update of DFP-231 on Nandroid Backup of DFP-125 and after that I protected root by OTA RootKeeper and made full backup of rooted DFP-231 rom and it's working fine.
Unfortunately by mistake I restored 2.3.5 DFP-125 and killed my phone so I had to flash full sbf of DFP-231 so now I'm stuck on DFP-231 and I can't restore my backup. Any chance to restore it somehow or only way is waiting for new script for root tools??

- Clean backup without no modifications.
- New lock animation.
- Maybe better camera.
- Maybe WiFi problem but after few hours with this rom I didn't noticed any.
Installation:
Gingerbread:
Put system.ext3.tar and nandroid.md5 on sd/clockworkmod/backup and restore system only. It should be works fine.
Froyo:
Same method as Gingerbread but kernel from Gingerbread is needed. Kernel from Walter79
Install Kernel only if you have froyo kernel by update zip or install zip in CWM.
DO NOT RESTORE ANYTHING EXCEPT SYSTEM OR YOU'LL STUCK WITH DFP-231. Rest of package uploaded only for advanced users.
Link on Mediafire
Kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=794187&d=1322184355
Pass for archive: zaduszki
I tried it. Works fine. But i think it's more secure if u upload a rar-file that only contains the system.ext3.tar and the checksum. So nobody can flash the whole backup.
Sent from my MB526 using XDA
I uploaded whole pack cause I didn't know how it work and assume that maybe boot and recovery could be needed to install it how it was to update OTA. So You restored only system and md5 and it working without no fixed sbf??
i suppose only GB kernel is neeed, not fixed sbf!
EDIT: so this rom is available in italian language, has NO deepsleep enabled and camera is NOT at 720p right?

That's it. As you suggested to do so, I just tried it. And it works. To ensure that nothing can go wrong, I deleted everything but md5 and system.

I can't give You correct answer now cause I'm using Vodaphone version of this rom now cause I'm stuck with BL7 and after restoring 2.3.5 by mistake I needed to reflash it with full sbf but on Vodaphone version deep sleep working well and no 720p so on en.EU version should be the same. Maybe someone who flash it can give You answer about language packages.
Simply delete the boot.img and devtree.img values from the nandroid.md5, so the checksum will fail.

Thank for answer but I'm curious how it works on Froyo. Any chance that it could work with Walter's fixed sbf from MS2Ginger?? Sorry for bothering but people still asking me about it and I can't even test it cause I'm on BL7 and quite new in android so I can't be sure without testing something.
I'm sure it doesn't work with Froyo. I'm on Gingerbread but with BL6. That's why I thank you for your nandroid-backup. This made it possible for me to update without the risk to get BL7.
-= sent from my MB525 using XDA =-
i flashed GB kernel through recovery and restore only system...it works great! there is italian language and also a strange greek keyboard in addiction to swype and default keyboard!
Thanks all for testing, I'll update instruction soon.

Does anyones System info show version 4.1.1? I updated and it was stopped by CWR, so I dont know if I lost root or even got the update. My version still shows plain 4.1.
How can I verify if I received 4.1.1 definitely?
How do I check if I'm rooted?

The first update will "fail" since you have CWM installed. So go to choose zip from sdcard, make sure signature verification is off, apply the file. Once you boot up your system apps will update.
Not sure why the screens didn't post, but here they are again.
If you installed voodoo you'll keep root, if not use Paul's root method with insecure boot.img to regain root.

The upgrade gets rejected if you have a modified build.prop or a custom kernel. Have to restore to stock. Kernel is the same though apparently...

VRLHE modem (CWM zip): link removed, my hosting is nonexistent. Luckily http://rootzwiki.com/topic/34053-of...zon-sgs3-sch-i535-odin-or-recovery-flashable/
I grabbed the update.zip from my phone and applied only the modem patch, then used dd to extract the modem. Since I didn't get this from a full Odin there's no Odin version.
Speaking of update.zip,
VRALG7 to VRALHE OTA update.zip: http://www.multiupload.nl/S7PHZONUGG
for dev/curiosity purposes. Obviously its original filename was update.zip.
I have the HD ROM that I flashed via ODIN and when I try to install the HE zip, it gives me an error saying its looking for version G7 (which was the last OTA). Anyway I could easily go from HD to HE? I know a lot of other people on here are also using HD.

No, I haven't tried Scott's HE version yet in CWM.
I haven't used one from him before, but I'm wondering if it also resets the phone back to stock, having you to reinstall apps and settings.

Actually, I'm wondering if there's a real difference between HD and HE.
The support docs on the Verizon site that lists the new features in HE, such as zooming in the email app, which will expand or condense you email list, is actually working in HD. The build date is a month different, so makes me wonder if HD could of been the tester version, and HE is the release version.
im more of the mindset of it is not jelly bean i dont care ill test the modem out but i probably wont use the rom

Download this file, extract the two files from there and flash the tar file in ODIN (you will lose root and revert to stock firmware but everything will be working and you won't lose your data).
Link Here
After doing that, do not reroot yet. Download the first OTA, let it finish. Then there will be a second OTA bringing you to VRALHE version. After that, root via this method: Link Here and install CWM again from ROM Manager.
I did that same process coming from a Deodexed VRALHD build yesterday.
thanks, it is killing me. the update is silent so you don't even know that it's doing it until it reboots while i'm listening to music.

nexus 7 3g Android 4.3

hey every one..i have got some gud news for nexus 7 3g as well as wifi users
android 4.3 update started rolling out....those who have not recieved yet can go on to their
developers site and download the factory image
i'll upload the factory image as soon as am done with downloading and testing mine
here's the link: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
wonder if the old root method (using the toolkit) still works on 4.3. may try it out. We'll see.
Waiting for flashable
Probably in a few hours. Uploading ZIP for WiFi N7 now, but since I am watching soccer on the internet, the upload is limited to 50KB/s After the WiFi N7 ZIP, I'll make a 3G one.

Flashed the zip image from googles website, after install, loaded the toolkit, did the root/recovery. TWRP boots. But root/super user seems to have issues. Might need a newer version (I chose the *.*.* android version since it didn't have 4.3 yet). As long as I have TWRP however, shouldn't be an issue?
edit: wait I think this patch on this page worked. Yup, have root again. Titanium works.

I would also love to get a Flashable ROM for the N7-3G. Will test without 3g now (link above for the N7).
TIA, Stefan
Is there already a flashable ZIP available for the 3G? If not, tell me and I'll make one.
Please do!
ETA like 1.5 hours I think

I flashed then separately initially and I had the same. In bootloader was the new one in settings the old one. Plus my 32 GB tilapia was now a 8 GB tilapia
Then I flashed all the package by the flash all inside. I am now on stock recovery but it takes 2 min to flash twrp. Now I have 32 GB and the right version of bootloader in system settings.
