Ya, that's a plus.
I also learned a few things from my G2x experience that'll apply to my next round of research. 1.5 month and I'm up for another 2yr renewal upgrade handset.

Idk, G2x is great, I love it, but by "buy" you mean actually spend money to get a G2x? Think about it... we don't have ICS/JB and who knows if we will get them and when... and what about next update? probably won't get that either. So, just get like a phone that will probably get updates more often like a samsung or something. Sorry not hating but just looking out for you lol think thorougly before you return to this dead phone :crying:

I had a amaze before my g2x I used synergy rom but no matter what rom I used battery life was horrible. So went back to my g2x and sold the amaze. Also had gs2 sold it went back to my good old g2x it just feels right in my hands

I did research before trading getting the Amaze 4G. Not a bad phone but the only custom ROMS are all based off the TMO Stock ROM.
I did trade it for a PS Vita. And its been collecting dust. Even with my PS Plus subscription, I'd rather have an android phone to play with that the PS Vita. I Hope that console gets better. I've regretted the that trade. But whatever. If I can get emulation to work like old school consoles work on that crap, then its worth it.
I still have my G2X actually using it again. I just can't let it go.

Have you tried using FB Sense AOSP? When I was using my Amaze that's what i was running.

My good friend who is a tmo regional manager says g2x is being dropped. Or rather, stores are selling through their stock and are not going to be replenished. Not good news.

They are just cleaning up their stock of old phones before the new ones come out. Online sold out first, now they are clearing out the stores.
There would have been an official announcement if they were discontinued AND they wouldn't keep selling them. If they were discontinued the would cease ALL sales and return them all to LG. Plus they would have to exchange those who purchased the G2x with another phone.
Not if they had already purchased a large batch from lg. They likely decided that the phone wasn't worth the trouble with the sensation out. So just sell off what they had left.

Most likely correct.....I love it when inventory management suddenly becomes a messenger of deep meanings.
2.3 is close....you can just feel that they are being very very careful to not need to do another quick release. Its just raw android.....so they are doing tons and tons of testing on the thing

Think about it people. The phone hasn't been avail for some time now. The update is way overdue. I am sure they are realizing that they can't fix the pos! Don't get me wrong I loved the phone the small amount of time it worked. I think it was a great idea that failed! Question is what is tmobile going to do for all its customers? They offered a upgrade to the sensation for 50 bucks, I took it and ran. I gave then an ear full when they tried to offer me the mytouch.

I have Gingerbread on my G2X ... its of the CM flavor, but i think I'll prefer that over LG's version anyway.

Although I've already "made my peace" with many of those here who had a gripe with me, I'd like to, once again, thank the people here who were actually helpful, were willing to accept my apology and, most importantly, the developers who are always hard at work trying to make the GS4G the best that it can be. The recent Gingerbread ROMs have really brought new life to this phone and addressed many of my initial complaints and disappointment.
That being said, (and much to the delight of several of you here who just can't seem to move past things, even after my apologies and attempts to reconcile) I still can't see myself keeping this phone. There's just not enough RAM, app storage space, etc. and, being a father of 8 month old twins, I need a decent camera ready at all times. I think we can all agree that the camera on this thing is about as weak as it gets these days.
So I ordered an HTC Sensation which should be here in a week. I guess I'll be bothering the guys over in those forums soon enough.

Also just picked up a G2x off of Craigslist, as well as a T-Mob Nexus S. Playing with both of them to see which one I'll keep. Have you put a ROM on the G2x yet? It's a little bit more involved than using the One-Click app.

I've tried out most of them. I prefer the CM7 nightlies so far (although I'm running the latest KANG atm).
I'm on AOSP and liking it, prolly move to CM nightly soon. Between this and the Nexus S, having a hard time deciding which I prefer - whichever one I happen to be using at the moment is the one I like better. Just worried about whether devs will bring a decent ICS to the G2x.

Does CM7 have the issue of constantly turning wifi off when screen shuts off, even though settings are fixed to prevent wifi shut off? I was using Eagle's Blood, which is supposed to be based on CM, and my wifi would not stay on and was causing my data radios to kill my battery. I'm now on Weapon G2x and the problem stopped (saw this solution in other forums), but I'd like to try other ROMs and I'm wonder if you or anyone else has seen this issue in their ROM of choice. Thanks!

Also forgot to mention I came from a Motorola backflip. Its slower then the g1 cuz of motoblur. I was happy to throw it up in the air about 70 feet in the air once I got this phone. Surprisingly it didn't crack. It broke though. Anyways Congrats on the g2x

that is good news to hear then i've had keyboard phones for six years and was going to upgrade to the sidekick 4g but after doing all my research i decided the g2x was obviously a much better phone, it will just be a bit of an adjustment for me
I also came from a g1 and sold that and got the mt4g with some cash. It was and still is a beast of a phone but I needed a g2x so I traded for one on craigslist. Honestly as nice as that g1 keyboard was I have gotten over it with smartkeyboard pro which IMHO is the best on-screen keyboard out there. Best part is I'm still due for an upgrade since this past August and I already got this sick ass g2x I was drooling for back when I had the og g1 lollol

I used to have the G1, then Mytouch 3G, now G2x, it's a great phone! Way fast and now that most of the bugs are worked out it runs awesome. Now I just need to figure out how to root the thing and I'll be all set!

Haha I think they guy was a crack head looking for his daily fix, had no money so he sacrificed his phone haha...yeah development for the infuse is kind of dead to be honest....its not largely supported.

Even skyrocket Dev is not great...i know its better then infuse but...nothing in comparison to OG SG2 or even ATT note
I might consider the Note but just the size seems huge!! I've never actually held it so until I do play with it I'll make my choice

Nothing a new modem can't fix...
Plus Skyrocket is getting ICS soon so the source will be out and different ICS roms will be out as well ..... and Cyanogen will be working all all devices for CM9 (except the infuse sadly)

Worst fear was realized today! My beloved cappy took a fall right into the toilet, clean water thankfully! I had to switch to my hd2 for the time being. My cappy is resting comfortably in a bag of rice. I got the battery out so fast that it didn't get wet nor did anything behind the back cover. It may survive, only time will tell. But now I truly feel for you jayrokk

I had a similar incident with another phone ....not my old cappy lol.....
I was pissing and holding my phone with my shoulder and head....and for some reason i lifted my head and the phone just slid down lmao

I mean it works and all, but there are definitely some performance issues and bugs no matter which rom you use. Verizon nor HTC intends to release a shoddy product. It either has to work 100% or not at all. If ICS cant run as well as GB did, then it aint gonna happen.
I wish I had a dollar for all the false rumors that have been posted about ICS, I'd buy Verizon and have enough left over to keep me in booze and hookers for the rest of my life!

If that were the case though, the thunderbolt would've ran well from launch day, which anyone who had one since then will say that it didn't. Originally the battery life was horrendous and had to be fixed by an OTA.

We could call and email different reps at HTC and we would get a slew of different responses from them all. Stuff like this no one will know the correct answer as tech support as we all know is the last to know.

So let's see if I understand this... the OFFICIAL WORD from Verizon AND from HTC is that the Thunderbolt will or will not get ICS and will get it within the next two days or later than that or never.
Does that about cover it? <G>
Honestly, I don't see what all the flap is about? ICS doesn't offer anything I need or want other than (I HOPE!) a better kernel for the Devs to work with.
Meanwhile, NuSense works for me and the BAMF leak works for me if I want ICS and, if I want Gingerbread, Infected ROM works for me and Thunderstick BB works for me along with a bunch of other ROMs I've tried.

			
				
Was at Verizon today, Reps informed me there will be no ICS for our phones...Cant say I'm surprised...my upgrade is in January, not going to worry about it .. Can't believe they state we would get the upgrade, then renege ..
If Apple can upgrade their older model Iphones for several years , why can' t our Android phones do the same.. and no I'm not switching..
