Okay this is going to be the first time I'll use a custom rom so my priority is to get a fully stable and bug-free experience just like the stock rom. So I am only looking for 4.1.2 rom and not 4.2 rom. So these are the features that I am looking for.
1. Power toggles and brightness notification slider.
2. Separate call and notification volume.
3. The camera should be 100% like stock.
4. Long press back key to kill an app.
5. The look should be just like stock and not the black look which I see in many ROM's screenshots.
6. All the stock google apps.
Thats about it for what I am looking for, there are a couple more things I would like to have but they are not necessary.
1. Facebook contact sync(but no point without high res pics).
2. Built-in sound profiles.
Thanks in advance I am waiting to try my first custom rom.

Talk about stable and smooth and stock looking but with all the features you want (maybe minus the unlinking of notification and call tones)

I can confirm they're not linked.
I haven't seen many roms with built in sound profiles. Most, if not all roms with sound profiles, are based of the CM10 profiles.
CyanogenMod 10 stable is the best for you!
The camera isn't stock though I believe (slightly modded). But why do you need a stock camera?

What I really mean is that I want 100% working camera like I have heard camera does not work properly in alot of custom roms on android phones. I wont mind the camera having extra features.
So it seems like CM10 it is then.
Nandroid backup made, will do titanium later and then I am all set. :good:

I was not aware of that. I believe most current roms 4.1.2 if not all roms have a working camera, including CM10.

Its actually just what generally I have seen with android phones not the nexus S. I suppose the problem has to do with ported roms but since the nexus S has official 4.1.2 so it should not have a problem with the camera.
Definitely cm10, but if you sometimes get bored and want to switch things up a little...
DEFINITELY try paranoid android! If you don't like it remember to nandroid backup in recovery so you can get back to stock easy :thumbup:
Edit: paranoid android is also based of cm10!
I would say rasbeanjelly from rascarlo. You have flashable zip to revert to stock theme from black one.

So far very smooth and no problems. There are just a couple of things I wish it had.
There is no brightness notification slider, is there any mod for it?
I also wish that the profiles had widgets and/or a notification icon to quickly know which profile is running without pressing the power button. The method of changing a profile also needs far too many taps. But anyways the notification and call volume can be unlinked so thats all I really needed. And I must say the profile software is the most advanced I have ever seen, you can silent individual apps which I hadnt seen before. :good:
Overall its just such a well thought out ROM I am loving it.
Btw is it okay that I didnt wipe everything on the SD card? I just factory reset through CWM and it didnt wipe the media and backups in the SD card.
Thanks everyone as always the community rocks. :good:

There's no apparent brightness slider but there's the secret brightness slider! Make sure auto brightness is off then go to Settings > System> Status bar > and check Backlight.
Exit, then when you're on the main screen, press on the top left of your status bar, don't drag down to bring the notification, simply slide left or right. Magic, brightness gets adjusted.

Okay this is cool. I can simply long press on the top right corner and the brightness goes full. If I press on the top left then it goes zero, if I press in the middle its around 50 dont even need to slide.
However I still dont like it more than the slider because there is no confirmation of how much the brightness actually is. Maybe I'll get used to it thanks for the tip there are so many options here I missed this one.

Geek For Me is proud to present...
a sleepy time release...
Bug Fixes and Requests for Lock Screen Related Stuff
I'm going to try and lay this out in some sort of logical order but there's going to be a lot on here so it's going to look a little messy. But I'll try! All of these fixes were done by me (flipz) so please give credit where credit is due. These are not bugs in Fresh Rom or feature requests that were necessary sent directly to me. These are bugs that affect all copies of the Sprint 2.1 based roms out right now. Thanks. PS- I was half asleep while typing all of this up and prepping the files, so please excuse any issues.
Bug:
Vanilla lock screen is all jumbled up. More information was already released here but I'll be repeating most of it.
The vanilla lock screen source code in all of our 2.1 leaks from Sprint have suffered this. The information isn't displayed properly on the page. Only time will tell if our final release will ship like that.
If you decide to use the vanilla lock screen then you will also need to use either the vanilla clock or a 3rd party application. This is because HTC's world clock is integrated in to HTC's lock screen, which you would have removed. For this reason I have ported the clock over to use with it. If you set an alarm in HTC's world clock then it will go off in the morning but you won't be able to stop it. Again... If you are using the vanilla lock screen then you must set your alarm in android's clock application (or a 3rd party app) and not in HTC's if you want to be able to turn it off in the morning.
I have made 3 different patch options. These have only been tested on Fresh 2.0d but should work perfectly fine on any rom based on Fresh 2.0d or DamageControl. All 3 are going to remove HTCLockScreen so make sure you aren't applying this update.zip unless you want to use the vanilla lock screen. It does wipe your dalvik-cache so expect a long reboot (5+ minutes) after flashing it.
Feature Request:
By default the "Menu" button will turn on and then unlock the phone. This is seen as a bug by many because it constantly causes the phone to unlock itself in your pocket.
While it isn't a bug I was able to remove it from both the vanilla lock screen and HTC's lock screen.
Bug:
When using the Menu button to unlock the phone in Sense UI it pulls up the home screen menu after hitting menu the second time, when the expected result is for the phone to just be unlocked.
I fixed this on the Rosie.apk from Fresh Rom 2.0d so if you are using any other rom or theme then you may noticed changes in your rosie.
Request:
Make the vanilla lock screen opaque so that you can't see right through it.
So far we haven't been successful in getting an actual wallpaper there, however I was able to modify the background color.
This one requires that you already have vanilla lock screen working, so grab one of the ones above to get it running, then flash this. This file is based on a file from Fresh Rom so you may see a slight change in your theme if you aren't using fresh.
DOWNLOAD ALL THE PATCHES AND GET MORE INFORMATION HERE: http://geekfor.me/fixes/bugfixes-requests-lock-screens/
I figured I should throw in there that the thread title doesn't mean I am taking request. A couple of the fixes in here are things that I have seen requested all over the boards. One in particular (disable pressing menu to unlock the phone) has been getting asked since release.

So how do we do this? Having that clear screen is really annoying.
Thanks for all your hard work!
.
If I wanted the lock screen that didn't let the menu key unlock, and the black background, would I flash them on top of each other or is the black background not an option with the menu key "fix"?
Thanks for the hook up Flipz. This is perfect. I can deal with a black background until this is solved. You kick a$$!!!
Flizpmode if I were to use the blackvanilla screen, would that affect my rosie that I would be using at the time?

Doesn't seem to have affected mine.
I noticed two things:
1. First boot takes about as long as flashing a new ROM
2. Hitting menu to unlock doesn't bring up the menu, just unlocks it.
Nice work Flipz, thank you.

I just came back to report that. I flashed the lock zip without menu unlock, and then black background over it and it worked.
But.. if you're running DarchVanilla with the Gomorrah white theme, the black lock screen overwrites the white taskbar making it very hard to read the black clock/symbols on a black background. This affects the task bar at all times, not just when the lock screen is up. So anyone running that particular setup or something like it probably won't want to flash the black background.
This has been what I've been waiting for flipz you're the man!!!!

Yea, I wasn't too happy with the setup, but... I only found out about the brightness thing after testing it out on a i9000 too. Tried a more automated approach, but doesn't produce the same results as regular presses. I'll upgrade the setup process when I find a better solution.
Thanks for the logs, I tried reproducing the problem, but didn't get a force close, but I think I might know what the problem might be.
Will get to work on that.
lol the font looks really really cute.
I'm still not able to reproduce the forceclose, but thanks to the logs, I believe I fixed the problem. One of them was leftover code I missed removing which strangely wasn't causing me any problems.
The other... should be fixed.
You'll see an update soon.

I'm currently fixing up the call lock right now.
There wasn't a disable stock lockscreen feature because it was supposed to disable the stock lockscreen automatically. However, that only seems to be working on the phones I'm testing on and strangely, the phones I can test on won't show the stock lockscreen, but some others does.
I'll be doing some more work into this part.
Update
New update out. Fixed up the calling. Now, the incoming call and incall screens won't be locked up. After call, it will lock back up. This works if you press the power button to turn off too.
New Feature. Find it in experimental setting. New feature affects the screen time out. Now, if you want, the Screen Timeout will lock with Void Lock instead of turning off the screen. Good feature for those like me who uses the WakeLock and avoids using the power button.
I forgot to disable my other lock screen and now seem to be locked out of my phone. Evo 4g with decks rom. any suggestions?
Great dev! can't wait for it to work completely on ICS
Couple of issues
evo 3d: when going to uninstall the uninstall screen flashes like crazy, buttons are highlighted (force stop, clear data, move to sd, uninstall) and blinking, takes several taps before you can get it uninstalled.
evo 4g: also when uninstalling it flashes, sometimes you have to clear data, move to SD card, then uninstall
it's one of the oddest things I've ever seen... and no, I'm not the one who left the nasty market comments.

Wow! that's also one of the oddest things I've heard about.
But, I can't imagine why it would happen. None of my code goes beyond the lockscreen and shouldn't affect the uninstalling at all. I just did an uninstall on my phone, tablet, and old phones to see if I get the same issue, but it was able to be uninstalled properly.
The only uninstall issue I know of is that the app is granted Device Admin status after the first time you press the Void Lock app, but that will only give you an Uninstall is not Successful message instead of the issues you are having.
Also odd that it happened to both of your phones.
I can't seem to think of why that uninstalling problem happened and I'm 100% positive that none of the code for Void Lock will affect the uninstalling. But if all that flashing and etc happens only when you are uninstalling Void Lock then Void Lock should definitely be the culprit. Its so strange...
Hmm, could it be related to your rom?
I also never had to clear data or move to SD card to uninstall it. Just disable device admin in the phone's Security Settings and then uninstall it and it'll work properly.
I'm not too worried about the market comments. I guess I expect it because of all the incompatibility issues I have not been able to predict when I released it. Yet, it does work for a lot of phones so I wouldn't even know which phones to restrict. All the problems seems to be coming from manufacturers making changes to the default lockscreen. Still working on fixing all of that right now.
I am a bit upset at those nasty market comments that rates low because of not being able to uninstall. I did give instructions in the market description. I guess I'll need add a new tab in the Settings to describe how to uninstall.
nice lockscreen.

There's anything missing? Gapps?
- Everything is included, root and gapps, no need to flash anything else.
- Please avoid to flash third party Gapps.
Does Cataclysm boots with ART enabled?
- Since Nov 21 release Cataclysm is fully compatible with ART.
- YOU have to ENABLE it in order to use it. It does not turn itself on.
Is Cataclysm heavily themed?
- No, Cataclysm is 100% stock themed.
How should i install Cataclysm?
- Do a Wipe/Factory reset and then flash. Strongly suggested to update to latest recovery.
- Should be safe to dirty flash new releases over the old ones.
Why there are multiple packages on home and how should i flash them?
- Flash Cataclysm ---> Flash Nightly Update package (if you want to have the 0day release) ---> Reboot.
- If you already have Cataclysm installed (latest full release), just flash the Nightly Cumulative Update (no wipe needed).
- Remember that latest cumulative update contains every single update from latest full release till that day.
Why can't add lockscreen widgets?
- They're disabled by default on Android 4.4. You can enable them in Security -->enable widget.
Wi-Fi Tethering isn't working!
- In Android 4.2+ tethered traffic is flagged so if your plan doesn't allow it, wifi tethering will likely won't work.
- You can use some third party apps.
I've enabled Immersive mode and now my bars are missing!
- Just swipe from top or bottom for bars.
My mobile signal/radio isn't working anymore!
- There's a bug with TWRP that remove/corrupt your baseband during flash. Please refer to the twrp team for a fix.
-Verify your kernels because this rom does not affect DATA/WIFI/VOLUME
Why Smart Radio keeps shutting down itself?
- To avoid loops, using the LTE or 2G3G toggle will deactivate Smart Radio.
I get error when flashing Cataclysm
- First make sure to compare the md5 against the one on the file hosting site. http://onlinemd5.com/
- If it matches consider some users are reporting issues with TWRP. Refer to the twrp team for a fix.
Can't select AM/PM clock style
- You can't select it if you're using the 24Hour clock format.
Show data activity on statusbar isn't working
- For data activity i mean the little triangles over Wifi or Mobile signal.
- They were removed, i've reintroduced them back as optional.
Vibration on call pickup/hangup doesn't work
- It works for remote pickup/hangup, you already should know when picking or hanging up a call yourself.
Hot reboot toggle doesn't work
- For security reasons it works only on longpress.
Volume wake sometimes isn't working
- When playing music you need to press both volUP and volDOWN to wake the phone.
- This will let you to skip tracks without waking the phone while keeping the ability to do so.
Smart Radio disconnect me on switch, it also takes seconds to reconnect
- It's normal to get disconnected when you switch radio
- Also switch is handled by the radio itself, can't make it better nor faster.
Fast Charge toggle doesn't work
- Fast Charge toggle needs a compatible custom kernel.
- Also you can't toggle it while already connected.
GPS toggle isn't working
- There's a bug on Android where if you disable GPS while active it stays powered even if it shows as off, thus draining your battery.
- So i've put a security check to prevent disable it when powered on.
I want PIE!
- Here is an alternative PIE.

Why the option to longpress home to open app drawer is grayed out?
- Unfortunately this feature depends on launchers, so actually is compatible only with Nova, Holo, Holo HD and Aphex launcher.
Why wifi is always enabled on battery stats even if i turn it off?
- Google by default use wifi for some location services even when it's "off".
- Go to Wifi --> Advanced Settings --> Wifi scan always available to disable it.
May i suggest/request something?
- Suggestions are welcome, but can't promise anything.
Why didn't you answer to my post/pm?
- I try doing my best, but i don't have much time and can miss something.
Pls buddy I want ur mods from the catacalysm, can I have ur codes of some of ur mods that u put in the catacalysm ROM?
- Unfortunately Cataclysm sources aren't publicly available.
Can I flash a custom kernel on this?
-Yes just flash your kernel of choice over the rom and you don't need to wipe anything.

Don't use ART Don't use ART Don't use ART. This is a Dalvik patch not an ART patch.
Nice job, hopefully a link to this is added to the front page of the Cata thread. Although it's not strictly ROM-related per se, it wouldn't hurt to add a question/answer related to the dalvik patch. Something that would qualify as being 'frequently asked' in the thread.

Thank you. I rather the dev work on the actual rom than to sort through tens of pages full of repeated questions.
Immersive mode takes the cake, it's a very nice rom but I've flashed cataclysm twice now and neither the home button or the quick toggles from the pull down menu work.

I had the same problem. I googled around and found this:
androidpolice(dot)com/2013/11/25/bug-watch-nexus-4-kitkat-ota-krt16s-causing-bizarre-home-button-and-quick-settings-issues/
Run this in ADB after you do a clean flash
Code:
adb shell am start -n com.google.android.setupwizard/.SetupWizardTestActivity
Worked for me, hope this helps!
(Sorry if the URL workaround isn't allowed, just wanted to help!)
Cataclysm - Waiting for Location
Having quite a bit of trouble with determining My Location with this rom. Most notably with Google Maps as that is what I use day-to-day. Unless I'm not using location services to determine my location, I'll be stuck with "Waiting for Location".
I've enabled Data Roaming and tried various other setting tweaks to fix, but nothing has worked.
Using Baseband/Radio M8974A, However, I've flashed a previous (my working original while I was on stock rom) version and it still didn't work.
I've seen this mentioned ONCE in the release/development thread, but no confirmation whether the issue was fixed. I would guess so since it wasn't mentioned again. However, I'm having a hard time thinking this is an isolated incident.
Would it be possible to help me troubleshoot or forward a fix?
Edit:
Kernel: Franco r32
Please note, this has only started happening since I installed Cataclysm and I've been dealing with the issue for almost a month now (since I've installed the rom)
Also, this happens under any of the various settings:
Radio: ON, WIFI: ON
Radio: OFF, WIFI: ON
Radio: ON, WIFI: OFF
Location Modes:
High Accuracy
Battery Saving
Device Only

I haven't seen anyone really talk about that issue, so that's pretty weird. OK first can you make a nandroid backup and try flashing cataclysm completely stock with the stock kernel? Don't bother installing apps since we're just going to test the gps. It might be a kernel issue but i've been keeping up with francos thread and not much talk has been around the gps signal. Try not using smart radio at all with the clean flash. If the issue occurs in complete stock cataclysm then we have to verify that the rom you have matches the md5 of the download site. You can check this by searching onlinemd5 on Google. If it matches then you're going to have to try and see if the gps issue occurs on the stock google rom. There have been instances of people having issues with cellular reception and gps signal on their phones and it was proven to be a hardware issue.

I think I found a bug. Could you test something for me? Sometimes I call people so they reject the call in order to call me (to be free). Every time I call someone and they reject, I stay on the phone app until I get the call back. When I get it, I can only hear it ringing but no incoming call screen shows. In order to pickup, I need to turn the screen off and on again. Could you please test this and tell me if it's only on my side?
Also, sorry if this has already been discussed.

So, I posted this there and got a reply from @theknut saying he couldn't reproduce it. Can anyone try it so I/we can be sure if it's a bug on my side or a real one on the ROM?
Thanks

I tried to reproduce it a bit ago but I did not get any issues. Tried doing it to two separate numbers within a half hour window and nothing out of the ordinary. Did you do a clean flash before flashing cataclysm?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Thanks for testing it out!
Yes, I did. Cataclysm was actually the first ROM on my phone and still is after a month now. I only booted on stock once after unlocking the bootloader and flashed Cataclysm right away.
Just to be sure about what you did:
1. Call someone;
2. Someone rejects the call;
3. Make sure you're still on the phone app when that person calls you back;
4. See if the incoming call screen shows when the other person calls.
With me, I can only hear it ringing and feel it vibrating but the incoming call screen only shows after I turn the screen off and back on again.
Was that it? Sorry but I'm just making sure.. Will hate to troubleshoot if the issue is on my side :/
I got my OnePlus One a few days ago but since day 1 I felt like the the big icons and text from CM11 was hurting my eyes. Everything is too big, I installed Nova Launcher but still some things are still quite big and can't reduce its size. Is this the same in CM12?
Trying to solve my issue with CM11 -in screen sizes- I flashed a Lollipop ROM and I love how it looks like with Nova Launcher, however, I realized that our friends from google have messed up the volume/sound options and we dont have silent mode anymore. I feel really uncomfortable with this issue as well as I am being waken up in the middle of the night even though I am using the priority mode and have all the options deactivated.
Im seeking for help to find a ROM which suits me or any advice about how to solve any of the two issues described above. Would flashing CM12 help me? Any Lollipop rom with real silence option?
Thanks for any help

Hold up, are you talking about the big icons and text from CM11S, unrooted? If so, root it and install texdroider DPI from the Play Store and you can adjust your DPI so that it doesn't look like your grandfather's toy.
Ok, so you flashed CM11 as well, you can also use texdroider DPI.
Lollipop you can also use texdroider DPI, it may feel smaller (the icons) but in fact they're all running on the same stock DPI (480) which is horrendously big. This is my phone:

There should be a silence mode, just select "None" in the Volume/Sound options (where you find Priority and All)

Hey, thanks for your reply. Does textdroider DPI works for CM12 as well?
Apologies about my ignorance, didnt know before that where were two versions of CM11. I had the stock ROM, which I guess is CM11S, am I mistaken?
Regarding the silent option, if I set it to "None" I will miss the alarms and also the LED notifications won't work. I searched a lot but couldn't find any workaround for this, so I was wondering if this has been modified in any custom rom.

Try pressing the actual ringer icon, you could mute it there
Texdroider does work for CM12 as well, perfectly as well I might add. If you flash Temasek you get a built in Density Changer so that's not required. I recommend 360 (shown in the picture) but it really depends on you~

Yeah that's the best you could do for now....or you'll have to reconfigure priority..
If its in vibrate mode but you choose priority mode then only alarms and calls/text you allow should come through.. That's how mine is working. You get a star in status bar to let you know it's on priority mode.
Since you already know about flashing, do a factory reset in twrp and clean flash temasek unofficial cm12 ROM v3.3 or newer if there's a newer one out and try that one out. It's what I'm running and priority mode works perfect. It's the best lollipop ROM IMO that I've come across with virtually zero bugs
I'll attach a screenshot so you can see what I've got for it to work

~~~~~~ Introduction ~~~~~~
Using Android Lollipop/Marshmallow's lock screen notifications?
Tired of having to press the power button to see them?
Want your phone to turn on new notifications, but only when you grab to look at it?
Want your phone to turn on right when you take it out of your pocket?
Then this app is for you!
Introducing the all new efficiency app Glimpse Notifications:
This all new app fills an annoying hole in Android Lollipop's lock screen notification system. It's nice, it's shiny, but you always need to push that damn power button. This app does it for you, and also respects quiet times and whether or not your device is in your pocket.
It also does this:
recurring notifications (screen on and/or sound)
emulate LED notifications that the system lockscreen no longer shows
Double-tap to lock function for lockscreen
custom lockscreen display time
lockscreen lock-on-cover function
At the same time the app is completely for free and without ads!
Yes, been using that one (and others) as well, but I always wondered why everybody wants to reinvent the lockscreen. I'm using a pattern lock and found none of the existing solutions to work well.
Strange. So, have you observed the screen turning on even if the proximity sensor is covered?
I plan on adding an extension to the pocket mode to cover the following use case: if the phone is pocketet or face down and you hear a notification, you typically take the phone and see what happened. Then I want it to turn on, but not necessarily everytime I take it out of my pocket. So something like "if coming out of pocket AND last notification less than N seconds ago -> turn on screen".
Perhaps we can sort your issues with the sensor out on the way.
I tried a different app that does basically the same like yours and it has the same problem, so maybe it's something related to Samsung?
Linked here from the OP's comment in the ACDisplay xda portal article. Looking very nice so far. Only feature I miss from ACDisplay is the active mode, i.e. screen on when removed from pocket, regardless of notification. This is a great way to keep power button use down, especially for devices like the N5 with known hardware button failures.
Yeah I already assumed people will want that and I'm planning to cover this use case as well. Personally, when I had apps working like that in the past I found it a bit annoying that everytime I took out the phone to put it like on the table it turned on (even if there were pending notifications). That's why I thought about how I could narrow down the logic to be more useful.
Thanks. Well, as a matter of fact I started out with having a black list and found that to be less useful than just marking the few notification sources I'm actually interested in (like Mail, SMS, WA). I'll think about throwing in a switch to configure black/white list behaviour, but it's not top of the list TBH.
Big oops here - I just realized that for the testing notification, I skip all the other checks because I figured it would confuse people if the other other filters prevented the test. Turns out the way I did it it confused us all. I'm going to change that in the next version (which is taking shape).
I tried it out with a "real" notification (by sending myself an email)... still the screen turns on with the proximity sensor being covered
Thanks. Well, as a matter of fact I started out with having a black list and found that to be less useful than just marking the few notification sources I'm actually interested in (like Mail, SMS, WA). I'll think about throwing in a switch to configure black/white list behaviour, but it's not top of the list TBH.
Yeah, I can understand your point, but a black list, in addition to allowing users to block apps whose notifications they don't consider important/desirable, would also allow users to block out any app/process/service that Glimpse may report about, such as 'wireless networks available', you know, things from Android system or System UI, whose notifications just drain the battery without any real purpose.
But hey, it's just a suggestion, it's totally up to you what gets implemented.
Great app nevertheless..
Nice app...working great... ??
Could it be possible that instead of whole screen being lit up, only the area where notification is shown is lit up in black and white color? Just like active display ?
