[Q] System ROM Space - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have a Galaxy Note 10.1 running on 4.1.1 Stock ROM. After I installed Titanium Backup, I checked my System ROM space and got this:
1.44 GB of which 90 MB is free
I downloaded a package that gave me Android 4.2 Apps, and I now see that I only have 4 KBs free. Should I be worried? Is there a way to clean up some space?
Please guide...
Thanks in advance,
Maziar

yes internal space is about 50mb free, external about 3,7gb and my cache is 40mb where about 1-3mb are occupied.
hmm ive just tried it on an original HTC Desire with the 2.1 android version and Sense. and it worked well. could it be that the apps i was looking for arent compatible with 2.2 ?
if you could those of your who have 2.2 try to install for example "Bonsai Blast" ?
would be so nice if u could tell me if it worked.

[Q] Cyanogenmod and MIUI: FC's after restoring

Hi all,
I start this thread since I reported it yesterday in the support page but the issue was closed today (even when there are more people with the same problem). The issue details are available at http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/detail?id=4586
The problem is after restoring apps or apps+data using Titanium Backup Pro or Mybackup Pro in Cyanogenmod or MIUI ROMs.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S (GT-I9000) with CWM-based Recovery v5.0.2.6, JVK radio,
gapps-gb.20110828-signed and I am using the Cyanogenmod 7.1 stable for my device.
I installed CM 7.1 9 times and I tried it 9 times (7 times after a clean installation). The problem is that I start receiving many FC's (mostly gapps app, folder organizer app, hotmail app, picplz app and phonebook app but there are more apps affected) when I try to restore user apps + data using Titanium Backup Pro (I tried 2 versions) or Mybackup Pro (v3.0).
If I restore only the user apps (with no data) no problem but after configure the apps manually FC's appear again and I can't do anything (one or two FC per second).
I only have this problem using any MIUI and CyanogenMod ROMs, no problem with other Froyo or Gingerbread based ROMs (eg: Criskelo v75 [based on 2.2.1, JS8], Criskelo v79 [based on 2.3.4, JVQ], Darky Rom extreme 10.2.2 [based on 2.3.4, JVQ]).
I even tried going to Titanium Backup preferences and changing the app processing mode to "Auto, Indirect" but problem perssisted.
I have apps installed using apk files and Market apps (none other Market app installed). Obviously I can't attach anything since I am unable to do anything in the phone due to I receive 1 or 2 FC per second.
No matter the number or wipes I do before or if it is a clean installation: always the same problem. More people with the same problem: http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/34286-constant-fc/
Can anybody help on it since Cyanogenmod developpers refused that (they closed my ticket without any comment or help).
Thanks and regards.
I think I found the reason why /data/data folder size is only 170 MB: http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/29756-datadata-partition-size/ I think that it is the problem.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Sorry if it wasn't the right section to post the problem: I thought it was the more suitable. Where should I have posted it? Could you please move it or tell me the right section (and I will post there)?
Sorry again. Regards.

other than stock, I've only used cyanogen roms...and after numerous nightlies, I've gotten to the point that if I'm going to try a new one, I just prepare my self to start clean...basically don't restore everything...
even in the situations where things seems stable..like throwing a new nightly over the top of the existing..it only lasts a few days, or maybe a week...before it start FCing everything and then gets into a boot loop.

I just want to use the Cyanogenmod stable realease, not a nightly. But I don't like the 170 MB (well, 153 MB because problems appear when reaching 90% of 170 MB available in /data/data) limitation. I have a Samsung Galaxy S, why should I be limitted as if I have a HTC Wildfire??????? I have maid much more than people who has a Wildfire so I should be able to use all my device features, such as the internal storage.
It is being handled by devs: http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/detail?id=4600

Your question is not related at all to this thread. Please, search for any MIUI ROM thread and read it (it's explained in all the MIUI ROMs threads) and you will know the answer.

ROM Porting

I have Samsung Galaxy Tab II 7.0 (GT-P3100)
It came with ICS 4.0.3 upgradable to 4.1.1
While playing around with it, I rooted it, installed a Custom Recovery (CWM) and a Custom ROM (CyanogenMod 10.1), Android version 4.2.1.
Now everything is just fine except a few bugs that are normal in Nightly Builds.
I want to re-install my Stock ROM because I want to sell it and the buyer wants official stock ROM.
One of my friends has the same handset (GT-P3100) with same baseband version (P3100DDLG1)
The only thing that he did was that he updated his one to official JB update OTA (4.1.1)
He also rooted his phone.
Now, I want you people to help me, how can I copy his Tab's ROM and install that on mine.
I want instructions to be easy and porting procedure simple.
Like the way I install updates for CM 10.1
Thanks.

Wrong forum, my friend: you have the Galaxy Tab II (GT-P3100), while this is for the Galaxy Tab 7.7 (GT-P6800/6810/I815).
But the answer would be the same.. You don't want to port a ROM (that would be trying to make a Galaxy Note 10.1 ROM run on the Galaxy Tab II 10.1, for example: make a ROM run on a device where it wasn't meant to run): you want to "transfer" a ROM between two different devices. And that is quite easy. Your friend makes a CWM backup. You get that backup on your tablet, and restore that backup. Then you'll have the exact same kernel, system and data as he does. Then, you factory reset to erase the data, and you'll have the ROM as if you'd just installed it fresh. You'll probably still be rooted, though.
A more straightforward way would be to simply download the ROM you want from SamMobile and install it through Odin.

Thanks for the Answer Brother...
Actually I'm new to XDA forums, that is why I'm a little confused between "forums", "porting", "posts", "topics", "transfer"...
Anyways I know how to make the Backup of ROM in CWM although I don't have any idea where are the files stored on the tablet.
I mean when my friend creates a backup via CWM, where will be the "Backup ROM" stored (path)
if you can help...
Thanks in advance.

[Q] Lightweight custom ROM with SNote possible?

Hello Community!
I own a Galaxy Note 10 since last year. Of course it's getting slower and slower and I've reached a point where I really want to try some custom ROM's.
The problem is the following:
I used SNote pretty extensively and so I pretty much would like to keep it. But I also know that Samsung Apps are not only memory hogging but also not all are very useful. So is there a possibility to get a stock ROM with only SNote on it? What is (in your opinion) the best and most stable ROM?
Thanks in advance!
Fabian
Just remove the Samsung apps to save space and ram on the stock rom
U need root to do that via Root Explorer app

[Completed] Increase RAM on Samsung Galaxy ON7

Hi all,
I am a regular lurker on this forum. Currently I own a Samsung Galaxy Note GT N7000. It is running Android 5.1 thanks to the efforts by Bauner and team.
As this phone is old I was forced to purchase a Samsung Galaxy On7. Reason I needed a faster daily driver. At the same budget was tight. This phone is otherwise OK. With its 3000 mah battery I get very reasonable backup. My only crib is it comes with only 1.5 gb RAM and 8gb internal storage,
While upgrading my N7000 due to the requirement of Android 5.1 I had increased the RAM of my phone to 6GB. So now I have no problems with installing apps. But I feel shortly I will face this problem on the new phone. Last time I did it using a .pit file supplied by some good samaritan on the nightowl thread & ODIN. My query is is there a similar file available for the On7?
I am not technically capable of writting a .pit file. Can some of you please help me with a .pit file so that I can optimize the phone.
Any help in this regard is highly appreciated.
Thanx
Kaushik
Hi,
Thanks for using XDA Assist.
I guess you're talking about the storage since RAM is hardware-dependent...
