[Q] gtalk 4.1.2 - General Questions and Answers

Hello,
Is it a bug that gtalk makes sound when someone writes even if it is already opened? For example three messages in a row from the same person, and even If I am starring and gtalk it keeps beeping three times. On 4.0.4 gtalk I got only one beep, and if the program were opened I did not get sound at all.
How to change this?
Experienced on Sensation and Galaxy S3.
Thanks.

[Q]Incoming Call Waiting Kills All Audio...UPDATE! "Viber" was the problem

Or is it just me?
While on a call, a incoming call renders all audio on both calls dead. Regardless if you answer, ignore or let go to VM, neither person can no longer hear any audio.
I have tried this in many different scenarios. I am using T-Mobile in the NYC area.
If anyone else is experiencing this, please respond.
UPDATE!!!!!
The "Viber" app I installed was the cause of the problem. Once I uninstalled it immediately fixed the problem.
me too.
Hi, I have the exact same problem. It is quite frustrating.
The only work around I have found so far is to go in to call settings -->additional settings and turn off call waiting. Which is also kind of annoying.
Does anyone have a more elegant solution? (like having the incoming call sound a beep instead of taking over my entire call and rendering the phone useless!)

Gtalk with voice and video that works for P1000?

Hi there,
I've installed Gtalk 1.3 from the post bellow on rooted 2.3.3using Root Explorer)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1233682
However the quality of voice calls aren't as good as the PC version of Gtalk. There's always a "tick tick tick" noise and sometimes the my voice isn't good quality at other end.
I'm just wondering if anyone has found a combination of android builds and Gtalk versions that works fine on P1000 galaxy tab. at least one that has a decent voice quality.
Thanks guys.
No one has a working version with desent voice quality? Has anyone tried Gtalk on overcome 4.1 rom (2.3.6)? Is it working fine?
overcome series rooted rom
Thanks for your reply,
Does it work perfectly or there are some features not working?
for example the one i have installed on my 2.3.3 android, have some annoying bugs. after i make a video call i have to disonnect wifi and reconnect, otherwise i don't receive any notifications or alerts when someone calls me or sends me a text, i cant call anyone either, basically it just shows me online while gtalk does not function at all. also mute button doesn't work and switching from front to back camera causes a force close.
for future reference, i installed overcome 4.1.0 android 2.3.6 and gtalk with audio/video comes pre-installed. video on both side is smooth with good frame rate. camera switch works fine. the only problems are the mute button which doesn't work and the list of friends that doesn't refresh after a long voice/video chat, needs a re-login. other than these 2 problems, works great.

[Q] Bluetooth Issues on Galaxy S2

Okay bear with me here. I recently got the Samsung Galaxy S2 and generally I am very pleased with the phone and all of its functions, HOWEVER my one and only gripe with it is the lack of functions with the Bluetooth. My previous phone was a Nokia X6 and on that phone in Bluetooth mode I could get phone ringing, email notification tone and messaging tone through the headset (Plantronics) which was ideal as my job needs me to have the phone on silent, so if an email or message arrived I would get the tone through the earpiece. Problem with the Galaxy S2 is that only the phone ringtone comes through the earpiece so I have to periodically check the phone for messages. I have trawled through various forums for an answer but to no avail. Is there an app for this or a upgrade somewhere. This problem was evident in original format Gingerbread, Phone now running Android 4.0.3 Omega v11.1 Black Blue - XWLP8 problem still exists
bumped for a posible answer
I'd love to get an answer to this too. I have a Razr Maxx and Motorola Finiti head set as well as s10 headphones. With both all email or text alerts go thru the phone speaker. Really wish they would go to BT.

[Q] Messages through bluetooth??

Does anyone know of a way to have text messages read through Bluetooth? When I am riding my motorcycle I have slacker playing through Bluetooth to my helmet. Would like to be able to get text notification with sender and what the message says, so music pauses, then "message from X, message reads........, then music plays again.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Glenn
Tasker or similar apps would probably be the best way to go if you are willing to do the research to learn how to use it. But also, this is really not the right place for this kind of question.
Can't remember which one but it's evolve sms, yaamt sms or something similar has this option built in. If connected to x bluetooth read messages aloud.

Voice dial fail

Hi guys
Just wandering if anyone can throw some light on the reason my gear s3 refuses to voice dial, it understands my request no issues and displays the command on the screen
" Call dave" for example, the s3 hears it, displays it correctly
there is one contact with dave who has 1 number assigned
the s3 thinks for a second or 2 then displays " i did not get that" or " who do you want to call" it simply refuses to read contacts
stupid thing, it just displayed everything it needed but it just refuses to work, initially i thought contacts would be transferred to the watch, now i realise its a server thing but this has been like this now for a week since i got it so i cant see it being a server down issue
The phone i am using is a S7 edge with latest update and it is not running anything other than standard firmware and a square home from end, which is the w10 look
i tried resetting the watch but no joy, i tried changing the watch language to US no joy, checked the phone is syncing contacts to samsungs storage
and doing a search on the net actually brings up very little info on this issue
has anyone got any thoughts, here in the Uk having a device that voice dials whilst driving is a real must, i have BT in the car but dialing it is a pain so the watch would be a real help... if it would freakin work
TBH i wish i could use Cortana for voice assist, but that aint gona happen
The more i try different voice commands the more the issue points to lack of sync with contacts... what am i missing ?? just tried to send a text via voice and the s3 watch cant find any contacts
Hmm i had an almost whilst messing with the thing just now, i changed language from English auto to just English... now when i ask it to call a name the watch displays ( Contacts syncing ) that is as far as i have got, it still refuses to dial anyone, and checking my contacts in the watch they are all there
i have a similar issue, when I say call XXX, its then says "syncing contacts" and sites there, If manually go into contacts and call someone its fine, why it decides it needs to sync contacts at this point I dont know, why, must be a bug.
