Hi guys,
I may be moving soon to FL(from PR) and was wondering what cellphone company would you recommend? I'll be in the Ft. Lauderdale/Miami area and I am currently ATT user but since I have to change contract once I move over there I was looking at Tmobile. They do have unlimited plan but I would like to hear your opinions regarding speeds and coverage on that area.
Thanks!

Howdy XDA. I just moved cross country, and the place I moved to doesn't have Tmo coverage, just "partner" which is ATT. My quandary is this: I pay good money for my wife and I to have smartphones with full speed data (HSPA+, whether you consider that 3 or 4g is another argument). Needless to say, neither of our phones can access ATT's 3g network and their 2G has been spotty at best. Do you think Tmobile's gonna give me a hard time cancelling my plan without an ETF? If so, I'll take any advice on phrasing or terminology that might ease the process.
Call T Mobile and ask them. They have pretty decent customer service. Worst they can do is tell you no.
If the only coverage you get is roaming then T-Mobile should be glad to cancel your contract because they have to pay AT&T for all those minutes, megs, and texts you use.
If you can prove
Hi If you can prove that you moved there with some billing etc permanently. They might be willing to that. That was the case for Verizon. But yours is T mobile. Good luck please share your result.
Currently, my wife and I have VZW, and I am growing tired of pay their exorbitant fees and terms that change with their whim. I have been looking at plans. I thought that Straight Talk through either AT&T or T-Mobile might be a viable option, but after reading many horror stories about throttling and bad customer service, that is no longer a possibility. I stumbled across the T-mobile site value plan, where if you bring your own phone you can get their value plan, which is comparable to Straight Talk. How can I find out how well coverage will be in my area? Sure I can look at their coverage maps, but can I really believe it?
Hello americans (and others) on XDA!
I'll be going for a 4 week road trip around USA in about 2 months and wonder which carrier and plan to choose. I guess I'll go with a pre-paid one but I don't really know which carrier who have the best coverage and so on. I want at least 2GB of mobile data for a maximum of $45.
EDIT:
Btw, I'm from sweden.
If you want good coverage you'll have to go with Verizon. And its not cheap. TMobile is, but you'll lose HSPA when out of most cities.

Ok, then I guess that it's safe to assume that I can buy a pre-paid Verizon card at the airport in San Fransico.
Not sure if you can buy a pre-paid verizon card at the airport but verizon is the best choice for service if your going to be on the road a lot. Check out the website and see where you can get the cards or see if you can set it up before you arrive. If you can't get it at the airport I would assume there are 20-30 stores for verizon in San Francisco.
Besides SF where will you be going?
In northern California it seems to me Sprint and Verizon have the best coverage while AT&T is still acceptable but not as good. Unsure about T-Mobile.
Hi guys,
Im not used to stressing so much about my carrier but this will be the first time I consider changing carriers since unlimited plans became extinct (between att and vzw). I have an unlimited plan on verizon that my wife and I use (12-15GB a month with peaks in the 20's when traveling) and now that att is offering the double data plan I am very close to jumping ship. We can get 30GB a month for what we pay now but I only want to do this is the network performance is better in Orange County, CA.
We moved here 2 years ago and I find I get horrible network performance around town, I am a field technician so I like to enjoy data on my breaks and lunch. In Irvine in particular I can have 4 bars and still only get 3-8Mbps. Its upsetting that I often get 3Mbps when on LTE no mater the reception. So this is mostly why I want to try ATT out. Any thoughts?
Another thing I noticed, I was at a VZW store in Whittier, CA and my note 2 on cm11 got 3.54Mbps with 1 bar shy of full and the new s5 got 39Mbps with 1 bar less than full also. I know that phone has xlte but really I dont see why the bad performance of my note 2. My wifes s3 (stock) is the same way so its not rom related. I would consider staying with Verizon if buying new retail phones Guarenteed great performance, but otherwise its not worth staying on Vzw for me. Im not the only one that has had recent complaints (past few months especially) about vzw network speeds between friends and family.
So for where I live, in Orange County, CA who is king? Verizon or ATT? Traveling is usually within the USA to places like Seattle, Vegas, Miami.
If you got this far down thanks for reading
I am currently a Sprint customer and have been their customer since 2001. Over the past 3 years i have noticed a significant instability in internet service. A lot of people has been telling me great reviews on Atnt...which I am r eally surprised. Whats so good about atnt now? when i do switch in feburary, i will be either going to atnt or tmobile. any suggestions?

I've been happy with T-mobile, but I live in a major city. You can probably find coverage maps online.

I really depends on where you live and where you might be traveling to (and in between). Verizon has the best coverage, AT&T the second best, but they also have the worst plans. T-Mobile is fantastic if you're in a metropolitan area, and their plans and policies are unmatched, but if you're in a rural area or do a lot of driving between towns, you might find yourself without a signal. If you do a lot of traveling, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get an unlocked GSM phone and use it on a T-Mobile plan, and also pick up a pre-paid AT&T SIM (or one from an AT&T MVNO) to use while traveling in T-Mo's dead zones. That way you can enjoy T-Mobile's unlimited services but still be connected where they have no coverage but AT&T does.
