Virtual Buttons - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to swap the virtual buttons?
Coming from a Galaxy S2 the buttons were the other way around. In think I prefer it like that too with the way I hold the phone.
Is it possible with a Rom, kernel or App?

Don't think so. The buttons are the way Google specifies they should be. Samsung is backwards.

^^ I laughed out lout a little at the "samsung is backwads" comment.... But to the OP yea, if there is a way it hasnt been found yet.

It's been done for other phones. Here for example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1355193
I found another one before that had more options but I don't remember where.

Yea no doubt it is probably possible. Just saying we don't know how yet.

This is the thread I was reading earlier. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1743979
There's listings for all sorts of virtual button configurations, adding constant menu/search, and rearranging the icons in a dozen different ways. Might be worth looking into. I have NO idea how compatible any of that work is with the Razr HD, so backup your stuff before flashing anything.

I personally like the TouchWiz interface but also really like Jellybean and a smooth functioning Google Now
Keep hearing end of August so this looks promising. Also no one who's using the beta build mentions a speed increase. We all can assume its going to have a huge speed increase like on the Nexus.

 Yea, hopefully Samsung can tell Verizon to move it with this. I'll be surprised if a update doesn't come out before to fix any issues or if the JB update will include them. This phone is great but, their are a few issues I hate. One being the music popping.
Wait so if this comes out for the INT varient is it really that hard for developers to just transition it over to our verizon model?
I was hoping they'd add a couple unified widgets to it with the update.
I love this phone (features, screen, battery), and Touchwiz isn't as bad as people make it out to be..... but..... Is it too much to ask that they add a contacts widget (so that I don't have to use a different syncing app) and a social feed widget that go along with the email and calendar widgets? I miss having a unified feel across the board like on sense. It seems that no matter what widgets I download and install from the market, they look horrible next to Samsung's calendar widget which I've grown to like a lot.
That's really my only gripe on an otherwise great phone. Still looking forward to seeing what JB brings.

Ha that sound's about right. But I think that since we have the unlocked bootloader , devs might be able to get it to us before verizon. IDK.
I'm looking forward to this. I'm also one of those people that like TouchWiz. Way better than the motoblur I had one my droidx.
Ive become dependant of the smart alert feature, somi definitly wouldnt mind a port haha

I agree, the direct call was great. I also liked that you can take a screenshot by swiping your hand over the screen. And the little notification that there's a missed notification when picking up (causing a short vibrate). The missed notification one allowed me to turn off the LED all together and use that to let me know there was something on the phone

Will anyone leave the Blaze for the Relay.?

I'm thinking about it.
No. I cannot go back to physical keyboards.

Not a chance. Even if I was able to sell my blaze for 250 I will be going backwards by $150. I don't have the money to waste just for ICS. But if we blaze owners are to be denied ICS then I am done with Samsung.

There is no "back to". A phone with a keyboard is superior. PERIOD. If you don't want to use the keyboard in a situation, don't. Use the inferior pretend OSK instead. But when you NEED the real keyboard (like you're typing out an email more than 5 characters long), its there to use.

The only reason I think people would want a physical keyboard is because they are to lazy to learn how to properly touch type. Even more, with the new swype beta I would never need a physical keyboard so it would just add bulk to the phone for something I do not need. All this is just my opinion though all in all, I LOVE my blaze and am satisfied and more than happy with it.

That's your opinion because from the phones I've used the physical keyboard suck either the keys are too flat in or the are spongy and feel weird like the moto droid only physical keyboard I would say is awesome is on a blackberry. So again your opinion on them being better.
And they do break I have a my touch 4g slide **** broke in like 2 months now the keyboard doesn't work but the one on the screen does

A copper penny did the trick on my Bionic. Hard enough to remove the logo, but soft enough not to scratch the bezel.
I will get this phone on launch day but the moment some aluminum button stickers or any color for that matter are released, I'll be one of the first to put an order in. I doubt the S3's button stickers would work on it. They look like they're different sizes

The button can be replaced soooo easy so that it's not a big deal but what IS a big deal is when Samsung would let them modify the look of the entire phone in that way! Samsung just caters far too much to these ASSHOLE US carriers!! Mainly Verizon.... If I didn't have unlimited data then Verizon would have no impact on my carrier choice... Samsung already has to make 10 different models for the same phone and now they gotta put some stupid ass logo on one of the carriers home buttons! What they NEED to focus on is releasing a 32gb or 64gb model instead of this crap... LOL
let me guess the bootloader is locked down for better network security and stability:fingers-crossed:
The logo is there in case you forget that you're using VZW. Same for the VZW logo on the back. Who doesn't love an awkwardly placed cooperation logo on their $600+ device?
No headphones in the box?

I believe the two antennas were for use on a carrier of your choice, since it comes without contract (even international).
Impractical probably for most. Ever since I got an android device (an archos) many years back I kinda wanted to be able to have a functional desktop experience. Having a note ii now I can basically already do that, whether im using a tablet multiwindow mod or the linuxonandroid app. That being said, there seems to be enough who want that kind of functionality. Would be even cooler to see somethin like that with a keyboard dock. Old idea that was tried on other phones.
I'd go as far as to say this is nothing like what's been done before.
I love it, would definitely buy it if it was coming out sooner, but I need a new phone now, not in 2014.
Never figured the price to be all that steep either, you 'muricans have gotten too used to carrier-subsidized stuff
Here in Norway an $800 price tag is normal for such a badass...

It's an Ubuntu touch phone that has the option to boot into android, with an android app compatibility layer for Ubuntu coming soon so you can still use your favorite apps when using u-touch. It also has a desktop mode where you can hook it up to a monitor and enjoy the full desktop version of Ubuntu.
The desktop mode is the reason for the specs, so it's literally a computer in your pocket. Thanks to so many ARM distributions out there, almost every single piece of software in the main Ubuntu repositories has been ported to ARM. Overall, for $800 you get an Android phone, and a desktop computer that fits in your pocket.

Soo true. Thays really what drew me. Im mean it really sounds like a high quality device and it wouod have to be to meet for both a high end android device and a very functional desktop computer. I can even imagine it being more, having the ability to be a laptop too.
I just read only people who support the development donation 775 will get the phone its not being publicly sold or distributed also the 2 antenna deal is one lte antenna is for the US the other is for functionality in EU if y'all want I'll link the article from indegogo which is the current most updated article.

Whether or not you like Ubuntu, you should hope that this 'experiment' exceed, doing so would surely drive something positive towards the mobile phone scene.
But will it get the newest android versions when they release like the nexus devices, or will it just update android in the same way as, say Sony does? That's probably the qyestion holding me back a little.

this phone wouldn't be commercially successful
At the beginning I thought the campaign is gonna be a huge success.. but looking at it now.. seems like a far cry from being successful. But would be cool to see a device that can dual boot android & ubuntu though:fingers-crossed:..
What do I think? Neat idea, not so great on the execution. The Android world is full of great-but-not-quite-there ideas, and this is a good one -- unfortunately the timing just isn't right.
Dual-booting is just way beyond the scope of what the average person needs or wants right now, in my opinion. Could it be useful? Definitely, if implemented and executed correctly. Maybe this is one of those product categories people don't know they want until they have it?

What are your favorite uses for an old or broken screen S3?

I have 2 broken screen S3s that I replaced under warranty just sitting here and looked around to find something good to do with them. Here's my list of uses:
1) Battery charger
boring
2) IP Webcam
Brilliant. Using IP Webcam app, an S3 on charge can reliably act as an IP webcam for days without issue. I'm a linux guy, so I use the linux app "motion" to capture images and video for security from these cams, and also a timelapse mpg. Rooting the phone is a good idea as that allows you to run it on a better performance schedule (like on demand) which is fine because it's always plugged in.
3) Flashing ROMS
Just as brilliant as 2. I don't think I would have had the nerve to flash my real phone if I hadn't used / abused / bricked / unbricked the broken phones first.
K
Sell them or flash roms would be the best options. Hell I would by one. Lol
