Anyway to get flashing LEDs like you get when you boot into boot menu recovery to work for a notification like a text message?

Anyone know of any applications that can restart the phone?
From what I can tell this isn't as easy to do on sense as it is on senseless roms, but I'm hoping I missed something.

Extended Controls can also do it. You can do a regular reboot or boot into recovery/bootloader.
Thanks, gonna give quick boot a try.
Boot control widget is a good one that I use.

+1 for sure
has widgets that can restart, reboot into recovery or bootloader
Love it
Does anyone know of an app that will reboot in download mode? I can find plenty that will reboot to recovery but none that will reboot to download.
Is there a program or an app that i can use to setup, when i push the power button, i get the option to restart in recovery, or do i have to load a custom rom for this to happen. I really want to keep the stock rooted rom. I do have the cwmr touch recovery loaded from the devlop section of these forums.
Try the app "quick boot". Free in the market.

search for "14 toggle mod" this will change ur notification drop down buttons and give u a side scrollable one, that, including some other useful features (flashlight anyone?) includes a reboot option that will let u boot rite to recovery
Am I missing something why not use rom manager or any other rom managing app. and use it to boot into recovery

I don't think you're missing anything.... I thought it was a bit of a strange question.... unless you're really new.

If it was a strange question, then how come almost every custom ROM comes with the extended power menu and/or the 14-toggle panel? Couldn't the rest of xda just use ROM manager to boot into recovery? Sure, but its quicker to do it from your home screen. He wants the same feature but doesn't want to flash a custom ROM. How is that strange??

So I have this system update but when I try to do it. It shuts off the phone then it boots to the clockwork recovery and says update terminated. My phone is only rooted. No custom roms or anything. What is this update and how can I apply it? Thanks

You need to lock the bootloader, have the stock recover, and possibly factory reset before you accept the ota for it to work.

You need to flash stock recovery then update. After that you can flash CWM or root again if needed. Get the stock recovery from the RUU and flash it.

will this wipe my system data?
Bump

I keep flashing the stock recovery with all-in-one and then downloading and installing the update. Everytime, about halfway it goes back to the red triangle with the exclamation point and restarts the phone five minutes later.
I check software and its still 4.0.3 and the update redownloads. I've tried several "stock recoveries" and the update afterwards... never works.
Is there something I can freeze in titanium backup that will make the update notification in the status bar disappear?

In phone settings, tell it not to check for software updates.
That does not make the already notification disappear from the status bar

When your phone is powered of completely, hold the power and volume down keys at the same time. This will then bring up a white screen with a load of text. Look at the top and if it says 'S-off' then I assume you've unlocked the boot loader. If it says 'S-on' I assume not. But this isn't always the case.
Try it anyway and if this helps please leave a thank you

That is just for HTC devices.
Just reboot your phone and if the first samsung logo when booting up disappears quickly then you have an unlocked biitloader.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
The simplest way to tell is if you reboot your device and if the first splash screen that appears flashes "Samsung" really quick, then you are unlocked. If you are not unlocked it will stay up for a second or two.

What version of ez unlock are you using? Make sure you use version 1.2. The later versions don't work.
Actually they do work as I used 1.4 and the only thing is that it says unknown. Also once it gives you the prompt saying the phone is unlocked you flash a custom recovery to see if you have successfully unlocked the bootloader.

You probably flashed an incompatible kernel. Basically if you flash a kernel meant for ICS it won't work on jelly bean and vice versa.

It has been widely known/reported that 1.4/1.3 are non-functional. I think you are the first person I've seen to claim otherwise. Maybe it works for some? All I know is that 1.4 did not work for me I had to revert to 1.2, and this is the same for everyone else in the ez unlock thread on Rootz.

I'm assuming you downloaded ez-unlock from the market? That's version 1.4, which has been widely reported as non-functional. Uninstall the current app then download version 1.2 from this thread and install it:
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/32456-app-920-ez-unlock-14-easiest-way-to-unlock-your-bootloader/
That should fix your problem if it doesn't then there is something else wrong.
So I Odin back to stock through the whole root clockwork and unlock I am definitely

Post a link to what kernel you're trying to flash. Also, which rom are you on-AOSP OR TW and which Android version is it?
I finally got faux main line v15 to work via a ROM with aroma installer so idk what the hell I was doing wrong but I was wrong somewhere

Since installing a custom kitkat AOSP ROM on my Sprint LG Optimus G, the colors on the LED for charging and notifications are different. For instance, charging is no longer a flashing red, but a flashing lime green. Is there any way to change this other than by using apps? They never work as they simply stop after waking the phone or they glitch out during the flashing.
All help would be appreciated!
