Erm, sounds like it's really dead I'm afraid
Have you attacked the usb slot with a small brush?
Tried a different cable?

+1 for cleaning the microusb port of your device
If only charging died, i would suspect your battery. But as long as nothing is working, it should be mentioned port.

Well than the USB port broke.... Only thing to do is to find a place to fix you're device. Or buy galaxy s3 - One x

EDIT: is it even possible to get it repaired??

You could try one of these:

Pretty cheap and looks easy to fit from the disassembly vids I have seen.

No idea, but for that price its worth a go!
Mine charges but won't connect via adb, so I might try swapping mine one day
Also worth bearing in mind HTC's come with a 2 year warranty if you are still stock.

It might be your phone's microUSB socket.
Congratulations! :highfive:
Since the beginning of my stay here on the Desire S forum, I believe you are the first one to have this problem.. (correct me if I'm wrong)..

Have a look at the teardown video on YouTube and you will see the little connector that joins the USB port on to the main board. Make sure it is fully connected and if so then disconnect and reconnect. There is no electronics in there, so not much to go wrong unless you actually damage the connector.

i think your usb socket in your DS is damage.

Its a really bad feeling,,, u know

Problems while charging

Is anyone else experiencing any problems while charging their sensation?
When I have it plugged in it seems to be very jumpy and doesn't recognize where I have touched on the screen. Example, it takes a few attempts to open the notification bar. Or I try to scroll through my home screens and it might bring up the customize menu etc etc

It did this to me the first time I plugged it in after bringing it home. I did a factory reset while it was still plugged in and it was still happening. I was about to take it back but it worked fine after unplugging and haven't had the problem since. Does this happen every time you plug it in?

I have not seen this problem with mine BUT I had the same problem with an old android phone (Behold 2--- HORRIBLE phone!) and it turned out to be a bad charger. I threw it out and got a new one. Problem solved. Have you explored more than one charger?
This usually happens if u use a non-stock charger, or if you connect too many devices to same power plug. Could this be the case?

Interesting... It happened to me with the stock Sensation charger. I normally plug my charger into the outlet on the wall my bed is pushed up against so I was pissed at the shape of the charger. I have been using my MT3G charger ever since because it hugs the wall. Makes me wonder if its the Sensation charger that is bad instead of just a fluke...
Just plugged it into the stock charger and yes, the charger is the problem apparently. Thank you for helping me discover the solution (which should have been quite obvious to me since switching chargers fixed it..) #Facepalm
This happen to me yesterday. It was fine if charged through my pc. But using the stock wall changer it started going crazy. So needless to say I exchanged it now all is right.
Funny thing is it worked perfect when I got it . Just yesterday it just started going crazy. So between this and unresponsive screen issues I just had to exchange it.

Stuck in car kit mode

My phone automatically launches locations and stays on speaker mode whenever I call or answer.
I've read up on this and it seems to be linked to after market chargers from looks of it.
Anyone have any tips or experienced same problem and been able to fix I really don't wanna have to revert everything to stock to get a new one and do it all over again.
If I installed a new female charge port on phone would that fix it ?
Anyone got any cheaper ideas to save me time and money
Plz and thank you
Edit* omg found answer in hd2 forum HTC sucksI wiggled the usb cord in the female charge port till it exited outta navigator and speaker phone went off what a ghetto phone hope it doesn't happen again I don't know if i can wiggle it right again lmao

Possible hard brick...

Was running cm10 4.1.1 with butter from last month's build. Running great.... but then phone turned off while in idle one time and won't restart. Won't even bring to Samsung screen or when plugged into computer.. no download mode. No cwm boot as well. I've tried pulling the battery and even putting in my spare one.. no luck. However, sometimes when I do just try to power up normally my keys light up and give the vibration when touched. Which provides some hope
Never had a brick like this before, I believe it's a hard brick. I'm sure there's software to run... just not sure since no download mode.
Thanks

So I recently got my jig, didn't feel like sacrificing a cable. I'm sad to say that when plugged in (and yes it is plugged in correctly) there is no response from my phone. The download screen does not appear. Just remains blank.. I tried the same jig on my friend's gs2 for us cellular and worked there. Is my phone so messed up that the jig will not be recognized?
Also, the jig I ordered has been reported to work fine on the infuse.

If you had a decent battery (fully charged) and the jig works, and you can't force it into DL mode, there are 3 possibilities:
1. Hard bricked. - You need jtag rescue.
2. The phone's USB port is not working correctly. Broke or dirty. Open and clean.
3. Battery connection is not working. Clean the contacts. Some corrosion can occur.
Take your phone apart and check the boards and connections.

I think I have met my match with this g2x....

bought it knowing it was boot looping. i've fixed numerous ones in the past so i figured this one would be no different.
needless to say the volume down/power button yielded nothing. i got the android and open box but it still boot loops.
was going to try nvflash but my computer won't pick it up. and no, its not the computer or cable as its the same ones i've used 6 times before and they all found the phone fine!
also don't think its the charging port as it charges while off.
what are my others choices to revive it?
buuuuuuuump
This might sound stupid, but after reading your post it just came to me. It's probably completely unrelated, but have you tried a different battery?
Maybe try the freezer trick? I think nvflash is the best way to revive but if it's not talking then...well...
When you plug it in using the 3 button combo does anything show up on your device manager?

While mines in the shop for a cracked screen due to a 4yr old... nuff said lol
Since its used try using compressed air and a tooth brush to clean the USB port. Some people have tried that on other phones when it seems like PC and cable are ruled out due to dirt causing a bad connection.
Or try
Remove battery
USB cable removed
Hold volume +/- *No power button* keep them pressed
Plug USB cable *s/w upgrade should show up*
If you get there NV flasher should work as per instructions on it.

yeah if i can just get the computer to see it im gravy!
i'll give the compressed air a whirl later today along with a cleaning of the usb. just weird that it picks up the usb while charging on a wall outlet
the only other thing i can think of that could be wrong is that one of the power buttons doesn't work. ergo the vol up/down wouldn't work.

Mine wouldnt see it either it turn out to be alot of build up of dirt and cloth inside the charge port due to keeping it in my pocket all the time.. I cleaned it all out with a sewing needle.. the other thing that would happen was the charger would pop out easily if touched... worth a try. After cleaning it my computer picked up the phone immediately.

Charging paused temperature too high

Okay I've seen people already posting about these issues, but nothing ever seems to be figured out. Either the thread dies, or the person swapped it out. Well I'm not able to do that. So here we go.
I spent $20 on an I727 Galaxy S2 Skyrocket. The phone did not come with anything, but I have an S4 charger, and a Note 3 charger. So I figured wth I'll be fine in that department.
Anyway. The phone will not charge. It says "Charging paused temperature too high". If the phone is off, and I try to charge it, it shows a caution sign next to the battery.
When I got it, it was running some version of ICS. I flashed JB, but the problem is still there. Needless to say the cache partition has been wiped, and I have done a couple factory resets. If I'm not mistaken, these guys shipped with gingerbread. So if someone thinks that will help, I'll try it, but I don't want to use that old system.
So I looked into other fixes. I saw that a possibility is the charging ic. Is that located in the usb part, or the actual mainboard? I'm not good with soldering so I may be out $20 if that's the case.
So what do you guys think?
Also gonna add this. Phone was not In use for around two hours. I feel like that is waaaay too hot.

I called Samsung, and the device is out of warranty. So the repair cost is $70, in case anyone wants to take this route. I do not. They couldn't tell me what was wrong.

Thanks. I ordered one last night off Ebay (all the Amazon ones were in China). It's supposed to be here in 2 days.
Have you tried to charge it by using usb cable connected to a computer? I think it could be charger problem, both chargers for s4 and note 3 have higher output current。Try a different charger with lower output current eg 1A.

The phone itself will limit the charging current, unless overriden via custom kernel, and since he's flashed a different rom I'd have to rule that out. Hopefully it's just a bad battery as that would be the cheapest fix...

I have tried using my desktop's usb port. Same thing. The only way I can get this thing to partially charge is by wrapping it in a cold pack. It gets that hot. Obviously I leave the battery out now for fear of a fire. Should have my replacement battery on Thursday.
Let me just add this really quick; just from the little bit that I have used this little guy, I think I may actually like it more than my note 3 (AT&T). It's just so easy to customize. With the Note 3, I'm so limited in what I can do.
Got the battery today. The problem still exists. What's next?

just a suggestion
1. open the phone as best as you can (remove battery and sim, memory cards)
2. use a q tip and rubbing alcohol and wipe everything you see, do it a few times
3. wait for 5 minutes, put phone back together
4. see if it works if not try step 5
5. remove all items again and put phone into 2 freezer (sandwich bags). I would suggest leave in there for 2 hours
6. remove from freezer and let sit for 30-60 minutes at room temp to warm up
now try charging
if that fails you can go extreme and freeze the phone remove and try charging it right away
let us know what happens
it was probably water damaged and shorted some of the circuits inside
Will try that out tomorrow. Thanks for the advice. I will let you know how it goes.

Still planning on trying today, but life is getting in the way. I'll pull the mainboard and usb port completely, and rub em down. The screen is fine, so I see no reason to subject it to anything.
Edit: I also got a hold of a local repair shop, and all the guy said was "Hi, honestly it's not worth fixing, you are better off buying a new phone. since the value of S2s is pretty low." He obviously doesn't get that this is not my main driver, and I am doing this for the sake of knowledge and fun.
Okay. I did the alcohol thing, which made it able to charge while powered off. It used to not even do that. It's in the freezer now.
