[Q] SD cards - General Questions and Answers

So I was wondering. Is it worth it to downgrade from a class 2 16 gb sd card to a class 4 8 gb sd card? I just now started researching memory card r/w speeds and wanted to know what you guys thought.

[Q] SD Question with ROM

I have a 16gb SD card that is coming tomorrow, but I got my phone tonight. It came with a 2gb SD card. Can I root and install the ROM on my 2gb SD card and swap in my 16gb SD card tomorrow? Does the ROM install to the internal memory?

Hi,
“ROM” is the memory where the system files of the OS is stored. By default all downloadable apps are stored as well in this location. Therefore it would be better to install ROM in 16 GB SD card or you can also install it in internal memory and define the external memory path (16 GB SD card location) for downloading any apps.

How to get my 64 GB sd card to work in CWM?

My S3 is running 6.0.3.0 CWM and it won't read my Sandisk Ultra micro SD XC class 10 card. I read that if I format it from exFat to Fat32 it should solve the problem. If I do that will it only give me 32 GB of usable storage? Can it corrupt the card? What can I do to make my 64 gb work in CWM?

Format it as FAT32 with Ease US... The downside is not being able to store 4+ GB files...

Help with SanDisk Ultra 64 GB Problems

I recently purchased the SanDisk Ultra 64 GB MicroSDXC Class 10 UHS-1 Memory Card for my Verizon Galaxy S3. When I put it into my phone (I am running CM 10.1), it automatically formatted the card to FAT32. Then I wanted to put movies on my card, but I couldn't put files over 4gb on the phone because it was FAT32. So then I formatted the card to exFAT because you could put big files on the card with that format, but my phone said "SD card is black or has unsupported filesystem." I thought that the GS3 supported exFAT? Is it that CM 10.1 doesn't support exFat? I was wondering how to fix this or how I could put these big movie files on my phone.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

This is exactly your problem, don't use AOSP so I can't verify this working, but this should do it.
