If I ever need to restore my phone in recovery mode, will it work if I move my clock work mod back up files to my extsd card to save space on my sd.?
Know what is funny? I just did a Nandroid and I moved the backup to my external card.
I have never actually needed to restore from a Nandroid, so I am curious about this also.

Yes it will. Most of the available Recovery apps/tools will have the ability to back up to or restore from an external sd card. Just make sure you tell it to in the settings.

So I moved all of my apps to sd before wiping, hoping I could move them back after flashing the new rom but that doesn't seem to be working? My apps do not show up in either App2SD or Superbox pro . Did I screw up?

So you moved apps to external SD card?
Did you NVFlash Clockwork? More importantly, did install the Clockwork with Ext SD Card support?
Not sure if you move them back, but I had similar issue. I had all apps backed up with Titanium Backup on Ext SD Card. I NVFlashed and could not located TB backup folder. Turns out I NVFLashed the wrong CWR and did not have Ext support. Once I installed correct CWR I was able to restore all applications.

Actually yea I did NVFlash with Ext SD support. After booting into recovery though and trying to install the .zip from SD I realized that I forgot to move the rooted GB.zip to the SD card, so I powered off, moved the .zip to my sd, then just held vol down+power and hit install from sd.
Was I supposed to go through the whole NVflash again?

If you Clockwork loads up instead of a standard Factory Reset you don't need to go through NVFlash again.

In that case it would seem I did everything right but I must've screwed up somewhere
Moving apps to the SD card doesn't stop them getting wiped.
The only way to keep hold of them is to back them up first.

Well, balls.
I am using CM7.1 ROM in my Nexus One. I already have S2E in my system, and it works well. However, I want to change another new Micro SD card. Should I do anything before I change the new SD card or take out old SD card and put the new one in?
Hope someone can help me, please.
Thank you very much!

I just did this earlier this week. All I had to do was do a Nandroid backup, back that backup up, partition the new sd card the same way I had it (I don't think it actually matters so long as your EXT partition is the same format like EXT3 or EXT4), then do an advanced restore in nandroid and restored the SD-EXT partition.
I did an nandroid backup and backup in my pc
I put in the new sdcard into my phone and partition it via CWM
Then I switch off my phone and put everything else into the new card
Nandroid backup and nandroid advance restore
When my screen on, I lost android market and all Google add-on
I saw my apps on my screen with a wrong icon
I can not download the Titanium or the S2E and I got no market in the phone
Am i following the right steps ?
Okay so I just installed CM7 which worked fined and i was reading that i should partition my sd card. So I made a copy of my sd card on my computer and continued to partition my sd card 256/64. After the partition I just moved the file back to my sd card in recovery mode. I then rebooted which worked fine and syncd my google account. I installed simple2ext so i could move my cache to my sd card because i was unable to update rom manager and su or able to install any apps bigger than simple2ext. I installed titanium backup and noticed i had nothing to restore so I was going to go back to my original rom to back everything up again. I backed up cm7 then went to restore my original rom and all my previous roms I had backed up were gone.
Is there something I did worng? and am i able to get them back.
I did some searching and looked in my sd card from my computer and looked in clockwork folder and found my backup folder. I tired to move all of them back but said insufficient space and was only able to move one.
So now my question is did all my data from sd card not transfer over?
o noo that sucks man
if you made a rom backup, it would indeed be in the clockwork folder, as the progam that makes the backup is nandroid which is intergrated in the clockwork mod. Titanium backup is only for backing up loose apps and had nothing to do with rom backups.
If you still have the clockwork folder with the backups in them on your computer you should be fine. just transfer the one you want to use (they are named with dates and times) to the SD and go back into the recovery mode and use the restore option.
if you don't have enough space on your SD card, maybe you should make some available for the rom.

Yup found them on the sd card on computer. But how come they did not transfer after I recopied the SD card?
Had the same thing happen to me when I was on my GNEX. I now enabled dropbox to keep backup copies as well.
Something similar happened to me when I tried a ROM with 4ex recovery in lieu of clockwork. when i tried to access my backup it told me something about invalid md5 sum and backup failed. like it didn't exist. If all is still on your PC perhaps you should reformat the card then re-partition using a different source, and re-try.

Hi,
If you want to back up your sd card, take it out,put it in a card reader, and make a copy of it on your pc/laptop.
The backup you made in CWM/4EXT has to be saved somewhere.
It cannot make a copy of the place it is going to be saved.

The only partitions you will have from a full NANdroid backup will be the following:
Boot
System
Data
Cache
.android_secure
The only other information that might not get backed up would be the Dalvik Cache, which is reinitialized every time you start the device. Your applications that are moved to the SD card are backed up in the /data partition backup, not anywhere else. The only data that gets backed up FROM your SD card is .android_secure, which is a special folder Android keeps important stuff for apps in, but your apps truly are in the Data backup.
I just had to use restore with CWM.
The reason whos that i changed the lockscreen with Metamorph.
I don't know whats wrong with it but i think i had boot loop.
Whats wrong with the lockscreen?
Question 2:
How can i put my backups on my external SD card and restore them from there.
Imagine that there goes something wrong with the internal memory.
Thats why i am asking if it's possible to backup from external.

1)I guess the app is not compatible with your device or the required hardware is greater than present in your phone. Better stay away from the app.
2)Use Titanium backup for backing up your apps and app data to sd card. Titanium backup needs root to work. It will even backup your system files to sd card. You can restore it too.
