The good work :good:
Thank you txr33 share.
At the risk of invoking the XDA idiot seeking missiles - are all of these modems "safe" to try on any network?
I'm on T Mobile UK, and suffering horrendous connectivity problems when I am at work. Eager to try out a few modems to see if I can lock onto a better signal, but I'm sure I read something once saying that T Mobile require specific modems because of something particular to their network?
Brilliant mate.
Which is the UK EE model?
Thx, greate work, now I can use the modem that I want.
Thanks so much! Can someone recommend the best modem for Optus Australia please ?
Sent from my GT-I9305 using xda premium
is it a good or bad idea for me to flash one of these modems?
I have the GT-I9305N (LTE 900/1800/2600)
my current modem is I9305NXXALI8
edit: I flashed and it seems to work ok
edit2: 4G and 3G broke, only have "E" now and a ****ty 0.05Mbps...

I did some testing and found the best modem for my phone. Thanks again OP
great!
thx txr33. good chance to test several modems for me.
maybe a short overview could be useful. just to see which modem offers best connectivity in which countries.

I tested all modems for about two and a half hour and did some measurement.
I'm living in Germany, Baden Württemberg and for me the two ...ALK2 work best.
XXALK2 has a slightly better reception, but AEALK2 is better at WLAN conncectivity (faster) and finding internet connection at poor reception.
Interestingly the original firmware (T-Mobile) is the worst from all the listed ones, by far!
The internet speed in all networks (3G, H+...) is half (!) as fast compared to the ...ALK2 ones
I attached the exel chart I did for the test. It's German, but I hope you'll get what it means, otherwise I'll translate it.
Hi all,
This may help a few French users, and maybe others too. I quickly made a CWM flashable zip by using one of the files available on this thread (many thanks to all the devs for the great job by the way !) and replacing the modem inside by the one contained in the French SFR I9305XXALK5 ROM file (jellybean 4.1.1).
I noticed that this modem is giving me by far the best data connexion when used along with custom ROMs. As some German users mentionned earlier, I noticed that when I use custom ROMs (Ripper or Supreme) I can not benefit from Dual Carrier (or 4G) anymore. My data connexion is then restricted to 3G or HSPDA.
By flashing this file, I managed to at least connect in HSPDA+. But still no dual carrier, unfortunately . As I am a very basic user, I can not investigate the reason why I lose 4G when I flash a custom ROM (4G works nicely when I use SFR provider stock ROM).
If you want to give it a try, the file is available HERE.
I would be glad to read if some people are experiencing the same problems.
ok, flashing your GT-I9305 modems on a GT-I9305N was a bad idea, it broke my 4G and more or mess my 3G too
I only had "E" (Edge?) on AEALK2 and I had 0.05Mbit
with XXALK2 I messured ~2Mbit and I had 3G and H+ for a short while.
I found a source of my original firmware and extracted the modem and made it to a flashable cwm zip
(first time I did this and I did it the easy way, editing an existing .zip downloaded from first post, so my .zip will have the "Ripper" message while flashing)
tested ok by me.

Hi
That's a pity, sorry for this problem. The modem I took from the French provider SFR is I9305AEALK2. I just discussed with a member on a French forum, and he thinks that this version is optimized for SFR network. But the fact that your phone is a "N" version can also explain the differences. I do not know what is the difference between N and non-N versions.
I think I will try your modem, in order to see if I can get a better connexion. With my file I get something like 10 Mbps on speedtest when connected on HSPDA+.
I think N is for Nordic. Im fr sweden & got the N version...

if you flash a rom that isn't for your region, you probably cant conect to 3g cause different regions uses different radio bands.
So, if you got this trouble, you might flash this binary via odin to recover 3g connection.
it's for north america, south america and thailand!
just flash any rom you want, then flash this in the phone section of odin:

I am reluctant to believe that you can't connect to a 3G signal because of a software limitation. If the radio does not support certain bands no modem.bin can solve the problem. The P6200 support 900/1900/2100 the P6200L support 850/1900/2100.

if you dont know yet, models like p6200 and p6200L got the same hardware. But the firmware changes, because of regions. That's why p6200 got 3g over 850mhz band and p6200, on 900mhz.
The modem.bin is the firmware for this region.. like a driver, that make this band freq work.
if you dont try this yet.. go ahead and you will find that you cant connect to 3g in your country. this is only for thailand and americas
dont talk if you dont try first man
cheers
You are saying that both the P6200 and the P6200L have the same quad Band radio on 3G at 850/900/1900/2100. But the P6200 has a baseband that only supports 900/1900/2100 while the P6200L has a baseband that only supports 850/1900/2100?
Has anyone else successfully been able to flash the modem.bin of a P6200 over a P6200L and connect to 850mhz on 3G?
P_
yup.. im from chile and my device was SOD. so i have to flash a firmware from rusia.. there 3g band works on 900mhz so i only have edge on my GTP. i flashed the modem.bin from thailand (where 3g works on 850 mhz, like in south/centroamerica) and voila: IT WORKS.
You are confirming what I am saying : your TAB is a P6200L, thus has a 3G radio that works on 850/1900/2100 . You flashed a baseband for a radio that works on 3G on 900/1900/2100 . While your phone was still working on Edge ( since the radio is indeed a quad band on GPRS/Edge ) it could not connect on 3G.
I am assuming that the code of the two baseband is the same for the GPRS/Edge part, and this is why you are still able to flash it and have it partially working on a radio with different frequency.
But do not tell me that the P6200 and the P6200L have the same radio because they don't.
P_
they do have the same HARDWARE but different FIRMWARE
You've lost your mind. Someone please call 911
i already test that on 3 different devices: i9003, galaxy fit and galaxy ace.. all the same thing. and now, the GTP..
that's why im talkin bout that.. because i try it already man

It's possible, but you'll have to find the modem from the P6200. I don't think anyone has uploaded it yet (could be wrong).

All modems (radio/baseband) are OFFICIAL and for the SM-N900/N9005 only!!
You can post here your recommended modems for various region/location/ carrier etc.
Choosing right modem can make a huge difference as it affects reception, data speed, stability, battery life etc. Test them and then post here
Different parts of the World have different LETTER CODE (first 2 - XX, ZH, DX, ...) ,
Last 2 letters: I6 or J1 or ... tells you how old this modem is... higher letter, newer modem... simple as that...
BTW, you need to test them all if you want to know differences in reception or data speeds...
If you have a modem or request for a missing, please feel free to post here and I’ll add it (credit given). Please use this Samsung Firmware checker to see what is your LETTER CODE

Ok it worked.
If anyone else is having issues with the baseband not changing, do this.
Use Odin v3.04
Untick Autoreboot
Flash modem
Reboot once again into Download Mode using (Vol Down plus Home button combi)
Flash Modem once more
Once done, unplug then reboot device manually.
If this doesn't work, try repeating the flash process again while rebooting manually and with auto-reboot option turned off.

just so we are clear here... is it possible that a modem from, say, a tmobile phone (sm-n900t) would work just fine on a wind mobile phone (same bands used) (sm-n900w8)?
what about a modem off of a w8 from latin or south america? does the region they are from matter, or is it just the bands supported that really matter, and the phone's hardware itself?
i guess i'm wondering if, having a w8, can i flash basically any firmware without worrying about a brick, and the only worry would be simply wether or not it would connect up or work well...? or do i run the risk of really screwing up my phone for good if i flash the wrong region? or wrong model but still a snapdragon model? thanks

well for me when I flashed omega.. which is n9005 I lost wifi, however lte worked and everything else ran flawlessly
Interesting....well I'm definitely going to wait until I hear more about it but that sure is promising.... might end up meaning that we will only need two forums...one for Snapdragon one for exynos....that would be great. Roms could then just be made with no modem included....
Hey I wonder though if that can be done why doesn't anyone do it? Habit from older phones or a good reason? I mean why build and compile different versions for different carriers etc if you could just post modems with a single rom (or two) and have people flash their own modem....?

Flashing Custom ROM through Recovery on different models works fine but flashing incorrect modem can cause problems.
I'm kinda confuse with this, is the N900 different from the N900V ? . I have a Verizon Note 3 .
hey DjeMBeY how about you post the instructions on how to extract the modem files, to convert them into both Odin and TWRP flash-able files?
that way we can help you get all the modem files for the different versions of Note 3 and its large array of modems.
the SM-N900W8 already have released a full list of update ROMs from all over the word, over at SAMfirmware

Yeah, good idea! I'm sooo busy ATM and it could help..
I just need modem.bin extracted from STOCK FW and compressed back as single file with correct name/model/version..
I'll repack it to tar.md5 and CWM ZIPs if possible.. I'm not sure if flashing through CWM will be possible on LTE versions! It is IMPOSSIBLE on S4 LTE (I9505) and it's a twin-brother so , we'll see...
Flashing with root (dd of=/dev/block/*p2) seems to work well.
I suspect recovery is basically the same process.

i am trying to get my wind phone to work on bell's lte network
as it is, i have it working on the hspa+ network but the phone says 3g and the max download speeds i have seen yet was 16mbps on speedtest.net average was about 12-13 downtown and only 6 at my house (wind average is 4.5 downtown and 3.5-4 at my house)
btw my house is on the far end of town so i could see the companies not having quite the service down here as they would downtown....

Following your and soloilmeglio indications to flash modems with odin for SM-N9005 gives no results (again stock MI6 modem trying to flash MJ1). I tried different odin versions (1.85, 3.04, 3.09), no way. Flashed three times as indicated with no autoreboot tick, no way. Do you think that flashing MJ1 stock could solve the problem (I have X-note 2.0). Is this only a problem of mine or any other XDA forum member did have the same issue?

I have been wondering the same thing. Have you gotten any further with this?
I'm in South America and would like to flash an INT ROM hoping to get LTE working here. LTE Band where I am right now is 1900 mhz. Would flashing an INT ROM "unlock" the phone for that? Are there other "consequences" that one should be aware of when flashing an official International ROM? Any comment on this is appreciated :good:

Im searching information about too. I tried install some 925F roms then flash 925p kernels but no luck. GPS not working, data/voice not working, even no mobile operator setting in setup.
You would need more than just download and flash!!! You need to port libs, xmls, framework, apps etc to make it compatible with Sprint
Anyway of getting a sprint compatability zip?

Thanks for the info. In my case I don't need to make it compatible with Sprint since I'm in South America. Any suggestions on how to flash an official International G925 Rom?
I think that will happens only when somebody write unified kernel for F/I/*/*/*/and P version of this phone. I researched this and found that noone from kernel makers want not do this. In nearby thread one programmer offer to try modified bootloader for 925p (to be able rollback to 5.0.2). He can't even find testers(. No one want brick their phones.

S6 G920F roms on S6 G920P?
Dear users
I would like to have S6 International roms on my S6 Sprint but I can't,
is there a compatibility for sprint file to fix the other touch screen and other processor (exynos and snapdragon)?
Please, can anyone reply if you know it?
PS: Sorry for my English, it's not good.
Hello (I have nothing)
This is to discuss Sprint porting with data/ Introducing myself/ A few questions
Please don't reject this (my) project. I will reject my project if I find out it's impossible or absolutely not worth it.. Please also don't tell me to just do it, I would need more research time.
Of course this would be great. Any request for Sprint support posted in other models Rom sections get rejected quickly. But it's been done. Not with this phone, but anyway...
About me:
I had built an AOSP Rom for A Virgin Mobile HTC Desire 816.. And coded A few Apps, so I know A bit around the Android system. Different hardware, I know. With that phone I could just flash A universal APN fix that fixed mobile network when using any rom for any world model. There are close to 20 or more variants. I'd like to create A flashable fix like this. Virgin Mobile uses the Sprint Network.
I have A github (same username), and A fast ((can use over 500GB RAM!)) Microsoft Azure remote server (Ubuntu Server, Windows, free for me) which I use for development which I may be able to "donate" access to for A few people.
I'm new to Knox systems
A few questions:
It's really that secure?!?! I can't even directly "sudo" in A rooted Linux install on the S6 edge. I've been searching the internet everyday for A Samsung Pay workaround/alternative use for the magstripe. But I highly doubt Samsung will open an SDK/API for the Magstripe.
This is possible right, simple porting procedure? Though I've been unsucessful with porting since Lollipop.
You can flash and boot apparently any rom for an S6 using A sprint kernel as well. Just it doesn't know what the SIM card is.
I would like to link porting resourses such as [Guides] from the Galaxy S5, S4 for reference.
For now I will check on gsmarena.com for the supported bands and whether they are GSM/CDMA of the different models.
Anyone working on this, knows what to change, or has more resources than incompatible guides please let me know. If there's any enthusiasts on this subject.
Not much is happening with the S6 not even with AOSP teams. I see that all the news was the way to go and NOT root it because people want Samsung Pay.
I've actually tried flashing a G925F rom. It booted etc. But it showed baseband unknown so I changed some system files etc. but it still shows baseband unknown. All other things were working perfectly.
There isn't a whole lot involved in porting for the s6. But From what I understand, the issue with porting to sprint is with how many files sprint has places carrier specific files into. I was planning to do a port from sprint to other carriers for Dazed and I after full oh1 builds are completed.

I had taken advice from A site which I was sure would work, but didn't.
Backup partitions efs, modem, carrier, everything that seemed to be storing "carrier stuff" to restore IMEI. Then restored the partitions in the G925F ROM. Using TWRP and the Partitions Backup app by wanam.
Interesting that when flashing Sprint ROMs that are based on A previous build/baseband version, the latest OH1 baseband version shows within those roms.
When using global s6 roms, baseband version shows whatever that rom is for.
Any files in the system noticable that are required to replace? Then change where the port rom looks.
Also the sprint basebands are in OTA's. I'll check those out by comparing update tars. Maybe they're found more easily.
But when flashing G9250 roms (Hong Kong/China) basebands shows and it works fine except making calls (can't talk or hear the person).

I've actually tried flashing a G925F rom. It booted etc. But it showed baseband unknown so I changed some system files etc. but it still shows baseband unknown. All other things were working perfectly.

did LTE work?
I live in europe so the sprint s6 bands are not supported but I think it will support 4g/lte in the usa.

You were saying the Europe S6 is similar to the China version?
I had starting looking for Hong Kong Roms to flash to my Sprint one. Lol.
A quick search showed that the European model is the G295F, or at least similar. No?
Apparently no bands are the same accept us cdma carriers https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks
No, I mean the sprint g925p is similair to the g9250 from china. If you flash a g9250 rom it'll find the baseband etc. And no the g925f is not similair to the g925p nor the g9250.
Why doesn't' someone contact a developer like @AntaresOne or @Alucard24. @AntaresOne is the maintainer for International CM 12.1 on the Galaxy S4. He is also the developer of the Optimized CM 12.1 builds. The optimized builds run on any carrier variant of the S4. One ROM, all variants! @Alucard24 is the kernel developer for same. They would both have tremendous knowledge into carrier independence.
I know AOSP, but should be useful.
I had gotten no futher on this.
The steps I had taken were moving any Sprint CSC files into other roms, as well as following porting guides dealing with gsm->cdma porting, and the other way of moving system apps/files from other roms into Renegade ending up with force closes or not booting.
Also A popular kernel for those Roms, Arter kernel had become less and less likely to work. It booted with no data at first, now it doesn't boot.
Sorry that was just A lot of file picking and I'm not good with xml and everything else.

Try this, A good place to start at least. (edit) http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...-patch-flashable-call-audio-fix-t-w8-t3121957 T-Mobile's patch. Probably would not work at first but it can be looked in to from there
Have you found any good 9250 Roms? I used to find A lot of AOSP on this site for an HTC:http://m.muzisoft.com/special/s6.html

Thanks. I noticed that some roms here http://bbs.gfan.com/forum.php?mod=forumdisplay&fid=1619&filter=typeid&typeid=12037 claim to support the G925P sprint. I haven't tested yet but plan to. They could possibly have everything working.

Thanks Why?
i am going to try thanks for the link
Hi guys! Can you tell me how much signal do you have? I tried flashing three different modem.bin from Stock Roms trying to getting a better signal, because I have a bad signal, and I didn't have lucky.
My signal is: -99 dbm 41 asu (just 2 bars or one).
Do you have the same signal?
Im trying to guess if it's a software problem (Custom ROM, modem.bin etc), a Mobile Network Operator problem or a Hardware problem (something broken or idk).
Thanks!
PS: I have a Samsung J7 2015 (J700m)
The problem, I guess, is software. But not what you think - not the roms.
Backup your data - sms, contacts, messages etc, and full wipe and then flash the latest stock firmware via Odin.
This will give you the latest radio software. Maybe this will work better. :good:
On the Samsung site the latest J700M firmware is 700MUBU2BRxx depending on country. E.g. xx for Brazil is C2, for Mexico D1, Chile A1.
Download from updato.com your country specific firmware; link below.

Good luck!

Hi bro, thanks for the answer!
Alright, I'll try. Im downloading J700MUBU2BRA1 (Im from Argentina) and I'll flash it via ODIN. After that, I'll come back here to tell you if it works.
Just 2 more questions:
1) Im downloading the "ARO" Version. Its okay? My phone is Factory Unlock. I saw "Claro" and "Movistar" versions, and they are Mobile Network Operator, but I don't Know what its ARO or ANC.
2) After flashing the Stock Firmware, I can back to EnigmaUX or other custom rom right? Without losing the fix, assuming this helped me.
Thanks! Have a nice day :good:

ARO looks good. I think its the generic firmware for Argentina (as opposed to Carrier specific, with maybe customization, bloatware, locked apn etc)

Yes. You'll have to reinstall TWRP first
Latest TWRP v3.2.3.0 is here Official TWRP page for J700 M/F/H exynos
Thanks! Have a nice day :good:

Thanks for trying man! But this didn't work.
Not just after flashing a Custom Rom, even with Stock Firmaware I had bad signal, and now with Xperience OS Too. See attached screenshots :crying:
Hmmm ........
Maybe you're just in an area with a weak signal.
Have you ever seen a stronger LTE signal right there?
Try this to analyze the LTE signals around you.
Advanced LTE Discovery on Google Playstore
At least you have the latest Radio for your fon.

Maybe, as I thought, its a Hardware problem... because I have a tower near my house, less than 100 meters (328 feet or 109 yards). It's weird... tomorrow comes a friend who also have a J7 but full stock, never root or anything, I'll see how much signal she have.
