issue with ViperTouch 1.0.0 to 1.0.1 OTA update - myTouch 4G General

I know this thread is in the wrong forum, but I can't post in the development thread. If a moderatorwould kindly be able to move it to the appropriatearea I would greatly appreciate it! Anyway, the issue I am having is with the ViperTouch ROM, or more specifically the latest OTA update for the ROM. I keep getting a signature error and aborted installation when I try to apply the update. I have discarded and downloaded the update more than 5 times and still get the same error. I also am unable to submit bug reports through venom hub because it gives an error everytime I try to send the bug report.

Did you try turning signature verrification off in recovery.
Sent from my HTC myTouch 4g using xda premium

yes, I did try turning off signature check in recovery. Unfortunately though the signature check toggle does not persist when booting the OS, which is where the OTA from Venom initiates the flash, and I can't find the update file to flash it from recovery...if I could, toggling the signature check before flashing would be no problem. I haven't been able to determine where the OTA update from Venom is stored on the phone. If I could, I wouldn't have this issue as I could just smack it around in recovery.

think I figured it out
I found a download link for the OTA file here on the forums, going to push it to SD card and try flashing in recovery.

I had the same problem, after the second failed attempt, just downloaded it from here and flashed no problem. Not sure what was up.

I had no ota problems but I used 4ext recovery.

ROM MANAGER "an error occured while flashing your recovery"

Hey guys, I want to install a new rom onto my acer liquid e because 2.2 froyo is kind of boring.. but whenever I try to flash my recovery with rom manager premium I get " an error occured while flashing your recovery" this has been going on for days and I just updated rom manager to 3.0.10 hoping it would fix this but it hasn't... I have rom manager premium and I tried reinstalling, fixing permissions, still nothing... any help would be much appreciated.... THANKS!
P.S. Any word on cm7 for the liquid?

Hes this been resolved?
I am having the same issue.
Thanks
I had the same problem too starting yesterday.
After checking device.js downloaded by Rom Manager in sdcard\clockworkmod\download\rommanager.appspot.com\manifests
it seems that the download url mirror1.kanged.net/recoveries is not valid, and it return "Gerrit is moving! Looks like your DNS has not updated yet. Have no fear, it shall in time."
Maybe they're switching hosting server, not sure, and doesn't seems to hear anything about this yet.
I am having this error as well starting yesterday.
I rooted my phone, had no problems. Flashed Iced Glacier using CWM Recovery. I then used ROM Manager to flash stock recovery so I can charge my phone with the power off.
Last night I reflashed CWM recovery and installed CM7 RC2 on my Mytouch 4g. All is well, however I have been trying to flash stock recovery again so I will be able to charge my phone with the power off, but whenever I try I keep getting the error.
I tried uninstalling ROM Manager and reinstalling, deleting the recovery images on my sd card, reflashing the zip file with 3.0.0.6 and stock in it. Nothing has worked so far and I have yet to find an answer. Any suggestions?

[Q] TMOUS 1.50 update not installing

I've tried just about everything I can to get my Sensation 4G updated to 1.50. I keep getting "asset failed" errors when trying to flash it.
My current software setup is the original 1.45, rooted, CWM recovery, and supercid.
Does anyone know how I can get this thing to install, even if that means I were to lose root? The blasted power button bug is driving me in-sane.
Look in developer section, you need to get sick recovery back to get it to install, then reinstall CWR.

[Q] Need help (noob)- need to know some fixes about phone (if possible)

I need help figuring out how to fix some of these problems on my htc sensation 4g, its rooted with the android revolution hd, has andriod version 4.0.3, sense 3.6 and, running 6.3.0 software. My question is, if possible, how i can fix the wifi, camera app, and bluetooth, it says error when i try connecting bluetooth and wifi, camera app is just blank black. anyway to solve this, any type of feedback is welcome. just dont go too harsh on me im new to this and want my problems fixed.
Well, you could try reflashing the rom. Download Mike's Super Wipe from the ARHD thread and super wipe before installing the rom. Then install, and you should be set. I'm on ARHD 6.3.0 and everything works fine.
Yea tried that a while ago and nothing happened, everything stayed the same

You might need to install the right firmware package (different from the rom). Find the newest version from the link in the ARHD thread (i think 3.30) and install it. Also try reflashing the rom (don't forget to suprwipe) and if you use Titanium backup make sure to not restore system data, as it will cause problems when transferred among different roms.

Yea tried it this morning...no luck everything is still the same...camera has black screen and WiFi and Bluetooth have error over it.

You could try using an RUU to restore everything back to stock before reflashing. Also, use recovery to wipe (format) the partitions to ensure nothing is left when flashing. If everything works after running the RUU, then try reflashing (double check the guides to make sure you followed all the steps).
Don't forget to check all md5 checksums after downloading files, as occasionally they download incorrectly.

ok, im not gonna lie, even though im new to all this, im a little precautious of what im going to do to my phone.. so can you please post some steps on how you are suggesting i should try fixing it, i dont want to do things all out of order and end up bricking my phone. it would really help if you would post some steps on how to do this so, i aoppreciate it alot.
If you want to go the route of restoring to stock (which I recommend), first you'll need to download an RUU from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074559
Find the one that matches the carrier/region of your phone. If you are unsure, post your CID and I can help you choose the right one. You can find your CID by searching the CID checker app in the market.
Don't forget to make a backup in recovery and backup any important data from your phone. The RUU completely resets and clears all data from your phone (excluding SD card).
Once it is downloaded, simply run the exe, plug your phone into the computer, and follow the instructions it gives you (all you have to do now is press next several times).
After this your phone will be completely reverted to stock. If you still have problems (very unlikely) then you need to send it in for warranty as it is most likely a hardware problem. If everything works, you can either stay on stock or reflash whichever ROM you want.
If you have any questions about the process, please post them and I'll post more detailed instructions.

If you are on custom rom, you shouldn't be getting OTA.
Try renaming etc/security/otacerts.zip to otacerts.bak

Thank you guys. Renaming that file at first did not work but after while those annoying updates have stopped so i think it's working.
What's weird is that even after reboot they still were popping up but only after some time they stopped. Odd. Thank you guys.
Now i'm getting some weird message about:"there was an error while trying to download the data. Please try again later"
This is famous pixelrom 1.72 fully touched. I love this rom
Hmm, I've experienced this on Stock 2.3.6 ROM, the download still showing but stopped, It's annoying but, I'd try factory reset & after it completed I'm turning on the phone without sim card (to ensure there is no internet connection) & renaming the "otacerts" file. So download will not be showing & not started

So weird. Even the data message went away now. Many thanks guys. I'm keeping this rom.
no problem guys, glad to help

I tried and removed ICS and JB. Went back to GB, it's faster less bloated and does the job for me. GB kept downloading ICS automatically and giving me nag messages to install it.
I found the following thread, which fixed the problem.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1579154
The trick is to install FOTAKill immediately after you install another rom, before the phone connects to the network.
To install it, I used the "adb push" method from cwm recovery.

Ones wifi issue

I installed a rom. But wifi doesnt work. Opening. .. waiting...
On sensation, used to be flash boot.img and enable smart flash in 4ext recovery and works wifi. But there's not any 4ext recovery for one s

If it is a sense ROM.. and you have hboot 1.14 or higher.. the WiFi partitions won't work.. no real fix other than downgrading your hboot.. not easy and could brick your phone.. I went non_sense ROM and all is good..

Do not downgrade its not safe many clam it is but if heard stories of ville bricking 2-3 weeks after downgrade.
two things that work to fix my wifi and yes im on hboot 1.14.00.4.
when you flash a new rom first use flash image gui app on your currant rom to flash boot img.
if you cant use flash image gui before flashing rom just fastboot the boot img using a pc then after new rom is up and running use flash image gui.
before flashing new rom wipe everything in recovery 3 times yes 3TIMES this does two things removes all traces of old rom and even thought twrp or cwm tells you it wiped it still might of failed. im noob at this but found all these tricks spending many hours reading and reading and reading and reading well you get what im saying. if anyone with more knowledge then me sees something wrong with what ive said feel free to let me know.
If he is using a sense ROM 4.1.2 or newer WiFi will not work period no matter how or what you use to flash it is a widely known issue for hboot 1.14

PAC-Man ROM works very well for me. The only thing that is missing is wifi calling. But I can live without it. Lots of tweaks!

Unless you really know what you're doing, I wouldn't go downgrading your hboot. I think its more or less a one way street. But I've had no problems with the 2.15 version that came with the jb ota. I'm alternating between various sense and senseless ROMs (currently using the job Nonsense ROM, which is excellent) and have no WiFi issues. As I said to the Dev, no WiFi would be a deal breaker for me.

You may need to upgrade your phones wifi firmwares to work with some (all?) Sense ROMs. Sense ROM's take their wifi firmware from two partitions (18 & 19). However on higher hboot firmwares these partitions are not writable - like a bad joke flashing them will appear to work but won't.
I'm dreaming up a workaround that just might fix this. Trouble is, I cannot replicate the problem - I downgraded my hboot and flashed them and curse it now it's working! You cannot get yours to work and I cannot break mine Please can you tell me your baseband version. settings -> about -> software information -> more.
Good news is that CM10 based ROMs will work out of the box, wifi and radio firmware is baked in the ROM and installed in the filesystem of the phone - so it's easily changed shoud the need arise.
Sofar the only 4.1.1 sense ROM that is playing nice with hboot 1.14 is Virtuous Ville+ I use it on a Tmo USA One S and its flawless. WiFi works perfect.

Hi
I flashed the Android Sense Best Stock v.3.0 by BehradGH on my TMOU One S with Hboot 1.14 Rooted S-ON This rom rocks so I didn't want to have to get rid of it to get my wifi back...
I've been bummed out and going nuts reading every post from downgrading/upgrading Hboots... to installing linux and going through the process of locking/unlocking.. blah blah blah... I was freaking out!
UNTIL I came upon this post tonight buried deep in the forums... I am admittedly a semi-noob.. well I know just enough to get myself into trouble... and out again haha ... but the post had a link to a .zip file that you can copy onto your internal storage... boot into cwm recovery and simply flash it from there... reboot... and voila... Instant wifi connection! IT WORKS!!
No repartitioning... no flashing radios or anything else...iit takes 3 minutes!
the page is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2151142
The zip file is called "htc_on-s_wifi_fix.zip"
I was skeptical at first... but willing to try anything at this point to get my wifi working on this awesome rom... so i copied it onto my sd card, rebooted into recovery in CWM, ... flashed the zip file, ...rebooted the phone and voila! Instant "wifi It immediately started searching for ip address" (it never got that far before... just said connection problems) ... 2 seconds later it found my network and connected to my in a flash!
My phone is going crazy downloading updates at lightening speeds!! WOOT!!
My sincere apologies to the poster who actually wrote this little script for not being able to thank and acknowledge him for his work... I had like 10 windows open and i couldn't find it... but he is my new hero!!
it's 6:30am in Boston.. sun is coming up... I've been up for 4 days... 24/7 ... going out of my mind trying to fix this... I'm going to sleep for a few days... with my phone charging with the wifi on right next to my head on the pillow
