Guys, can someone help me with syncing source for AOKP ICS/JB??
JB preferred...
Also, a link on how to add it to my laptop.. I am new at compiling.. Currently I'm syncing the repo for CM9, acc to the tutorial made by sakindia123...
I found a few tutorials on XDA & google, but they didnt make sense to me.. Maybe someone can help me in a simpler language..
Thanks...
hi m8........
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/31166-tutorial-so-you-want-to-build-aokp-jb-ubuntu-1204/
the "Add directory for repo binary to your path" you need to have terminal open and type:
Code:
gedit ~/.bashrc
then add the line:
Code:
PATH=~/bin:$PATH
the "Start the build" section you need the device tree and vendor and adjust them accordingly (can use sakindia`s or lirokoa`s device tree with changes)
if you need anymore help with it, just post

I have done the stuff upto editing bashrc...I tried to sync CM9 source, but it gave me some errors, so I cancelled it.. Plus I'm getting single digit download speeds with syncing.. But thats not my concern.. My question is, how to sync device specific code?? For eg, if I want AOKP(or lets say CM10, would be easier for me) for Pico, would I have to first sync the whole AOKP/CyanogenMod JB repo, and then use the device tree?? I tried to clone sakindia's cm10 github, but that was only around 56 mb.. So i sensed some incomplete work on my end..
Could you provide a simple language tutorial?? On using github and syncing repos?? I tried the one given in the android software hacking forum... But its way too advanced for me..
Also, about the packages needed before doing anything.. are they supposed to be common, or do i need different packages for different roms??
And you can keep more than one repo synced up right?? Like cm9 n cm10 together, on the same hard drive??

I have yet to find an ICS keyboard port that works on sense roms. If such a thing exists, I'd appreciate it if someone could link me to it.
I'm actually running it right now.
If you give me a minute, I'll upload it (on 2g right now) including the .so file. It wont be a flashable.

Hi,
Get ES File Explorer.
Go to settings and make sure "Root Explorer" and "Mount File System" are ticked.
Then paste the files into the appropriate folders, save and reboot.
Remember to set permissions correctly, after pasting the files. RW-R--R-- (644).

Propably, give it a try and report back, but the voicesearch does not work asof now only manual input
Opening search works, but gives popup: network error. Also, voice search gives FC. This is on CM9 latest nightly
I changed my build.prop, then I put velvet.apk in /system/app with the right permissions, rebooted, changed build.prop back and rebooted once more.
Voila, no more network error

Exactly if everybody READ all the info that devs provide so would xda be a heavenly place to be and not only the same questions a 1000 times thru a thread

You are right but if i believe everything what a dev provide than i would NOT have this great app fully function on my STOCK BASED ROM ( not aosp ore cm9 ) so change op please.
Can't wait until all the features of this apk is working and the paranoid team implements it into their rom!

Do you have any errors in dmesg and logcat, after trying to flash init.d support? If you can get a dmesg and logcat output and post it up here, that will help out a whole lot.
To get dmesg into an output text file run this from within adb shell as root/su, or from the terminal app as root/su, then upload and post both in this thread and we can all have a look at it.
Dmesg out put to text file:
Code:
dmesg > /sdcard/dmesg_out.txt
Hopefully we can find find something from that and logcat.

No worries. I use alogcat from the play store, and I like that one, but there are many others out there, so take a look at a few, see if you see one you like better, I think there is one that will grab both the logcat and the dmesg output for you in one app, but I can not remember which one that is, or if that app is still even around, it was back in the 1.8 days of android that I used something like that.
Miui overclocked..flashed alteredlikeness oc zip..settings still didnt stick so used script manager to load the script on boot..problem solved for now..but there should be some way to make the settings stick..
Sent from my ME865 using xda app-developers app
Long story short..those who want to oc miui (official) first flash the alteredlikeness oc zip which can be found in numa thread..then use scriptmanager to run ''90modules'' and ''91cpucntrl'' at boot and as root..
Sent from my ME865 using xda app-developers app
Also, if anyone uses Root Explorer to edit scripts or otherwise, remember to delete the .bak file created after making the edits, then reboot. If not, the edits may not stick passed a reboot...

Me too. If somebody can fix it, it'll be really helpful.
To stop force closes, all you have to do is put the library files(make space in system and put library flies from normal jb gapps. ) in /system /Lib
But after that, there won't be force closes, but network automatically disconnects.
Can you use Skype? ?
Same problem there as well.
The logs are similar and gives this

Hmm, then it's no use to try changing the libs.
Skype works fine actually, voice and video, but it's laggy (I use MiniCMOD10 and kernel 2.6)
I just found an 3rd party app which provides Gtalk video and voice that seems to work pretty nice but it lacks normal text chat....
