maybe your battery is dying or it loses connection that's why it causes reboots
try to fit some peace of paper or something and see if it works

with 4.0.3 android i assume you have 1.2x hboot version
then you have 2 options to root
1)by using the htcdev unlock method to unlock the bootloader and then use this thread to root
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1632553
2)by using the juopunutbear method.see here

[Q] Root with S-OFF

Hello everyone,
This is my first post and sorry if this question was already answered, but I couldn't find the answer to my particular question when I searched for it. I just recently got my Sensation for T-Mobile a couple weeks ago and rooted it but do not have the S-OFF because of the OTA update to 2.3.4 so I used the HTC unlock method. Is there any way I can get the s-off because I am finding it difficult to flash a lot of ROMs I want to try since a lot of them either never load or they just go into an infinite boot loop? Thanks for all your help and advice and I'm hoping I can gain more knowledge thru you guys since this was a big leap for me from a Blackberry 9700.
I recently rooted my HTC Sensation and got the s off following the directions provided here on xda. Then installed Revolution HD. No issues with that either. I just followed the directions there also. Did it not work for u?
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA App
No, it didn't work for me. My friend told me that the alpharev method used here on the forums wouldn't work because I downloaded the OTA update to 2.3.4 when I first received it out of the box. He told me that only the htc unlock method would work to root my phone but I wouldn't have S-off. My phone is currently rooted right now with no s-off so certain ROMs won't flash or they will butt I'll hey errors in them.
I find that strange. I'm no expert but my Sensation was running stock Android 2.3.4 before I rooted and it reads that s is off. I went to revolutionary.io/ download for Windows filled in the info for the beta key save the zip file and and launch it then enter the beta key. Then just follow the prompts from there. Did u do that?
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA App
Yup, I did exactly that a number of times but it didn't work. That's weird. Maybe someone else on here can help me get full s-off on my sensation. What's your service provider ? Cuz mine is T-Mobile and it came stock 2.3.3 but I did the OTA update and was able to root it but get no s-off
hi,
just to share my experience ... On Asian Starhub
i have updated to 2.3.4 via OTA before i root and s-off, and eventually supercid.
Followed the guide step by step.
The rooting , s-off and supercid process is smooth as butter ( as some dev quoted ).
Flashed Bulletproof 1.4 and now InsertCoin 3.3.0.
Perhaps u can provide more phone details like your current Hboot version and which part of the process you are stuck so that some experienced member can help u out easier.

Same here. 2.3.4 OTA and I am fully rooted with S-Off. Followed the guide step by step. Used Revolutionary.io with no problem. Be sure you enter your beta key in exactly, its case sensative. I'm also on TMOUS.

So it worked ok for the Sensation XE? I'm about to upgrade my phone from the Desire (s-off, root, leedroid hd 3.3.3 data++) and was wondering if the revolutionary route would work (really want the XE!). Had no issues at all with the Desire and would wait to upgrade if there were issues.
Thanks.

Sorry if I'm asking the obvious or if this has already been covered, but did you first go to the HTC dev. site and follow their specific instructions for unlocking the bootloader? If not, do that first, then use Revolutionary to root/s-off, wipe your phone to factory (I always wipe dalvik cache and cache partition, too), then flash whatever ROM and kernel you want.
Let me know if that helps any.

Very cool. Can't wait to upgrade to this phone. Sensation looked great before, but these latest two (LE screen too big for my tastes) are looking amazing!
Ok guys, thanks for the input. I'll be sure to fill you in if I'm havng any difficulties...I'll try it again today.
I'm also on Tmobile 10 plus years. After following the steps and entering the beta key added the Su zip and it kept s off. You are prop missing something in between. Make sure u are entering the right hboot of your phone otherwise the beta key will be incorrect. Did u set up connection to HTC sync when u did it?
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA App
Ok guys, I tried getting s-off again tonite. Mind you my phone is already rooted but has s-on. I have a custom ROM flashed on it currently, I ran the revolutionary app and it suddenly closed on me and i also got an unforseen FC on the home screen of the phone. I flashed back to my nandroid backup of my stock rooted ROM and still the same thing. Suggestions? I saw on another post I should try doing this on a different computer. I tried different methods of connecting the phone via usb with mounting it as a drive, charge only, htc sync but to no avail. I did have htc sync running and it did sync up properly.
I tot we should uninstall HTC sync .... Only leave the HTC drivers alone ....
Maybe someone can advise on this ....

Yes, uninstall HTC sync, leave HTC drivers alone.

Is there specific drivers I need to install? It doesn't say in the guide.
When u install , then uninstall HTC sync . The HTC sync drivers will be removed but HTC drivers remains . That's the drivers we want to keep. Alternatively , u can just install the HTC drivers. But u got to search for it elsewhere. I think its HTC 3.7.0.01 drivers or something .... ( if I can remember correctly )

You must flash the root firmware. It is very simple if you follow this tutorial exactly.

What do you mean normal patch? You can follow a tutorial on the same page to undo the S-OFF and flash the original firmware. If you want to do that later, i recommend that you skip the SuperCID step.
You will have to "undo" the root to claim under warranty.
Edit: and everything that is compatible with the reg Sensation should be compatible with the XE

Hello
Yes it will work with the Sensation XE since the Sensation /4G/XE is basically the same thing. Follow the instructions on the Guide here.
Revolutionary Only gives you S-OFF, which means Security Off, which means you have permission to flash files. Root will require flashing, but you would need to install a custom recovery first. What the custom recovery does is that it actually FLASHES the file for you whereas S-OFF only gives permission. You would need to flash the "su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip" to have root.
Cheers.
and will i be ablte to Normally Update the phone then ? ( via the Htc Update service for ICS ) ?
( ye i know alot of questions... are i searched along time around and not rly answers to it )

Sadly, if you install the latest Custom Recovery, you will no longer receive HTC ICS updates. HOWEVER! Why wait for HTC when you know that as soon HTC releases the update, you can count on XDA members to come up with a even better ROM based on the release. So don't worry yeah?

How to ROOT my HTC Sensation XE???

Hello to all, since there is no no section dedicated to Sensation XE, I ask you. Is there a way or in any case a guide to give ROOT permissions to Sensation XE?
Thanks, bye
Hello,
The way to accure ROOT permissions is the same for all HTC Sensation devices. Just go throught the forums and find the way you'd like to go. Its all depends on your current firmware & HBOOT version.

he can use the root tool of mine too ....if he did HTC-DEV unlock of bootloader (the second thread asks for same ...also flashing custom recovery is an extra for the second thread ..which is not required in my case )
I can recommend doing so. I've used your app for my XE too.

Hi,
HTC Sensation,Sensation XE,and Sensation 4G are all the same.
Go to settings/power ,and untick fastboot.
Power your phone off.
Power on holding volume down and power button together.
This takes you to bootloader.
There, you will see your hboot number.

if you are still under warranty then follow the first guide
note: backup everything from your sdcard to pc because wire trick will wipe them all(if you follow first guide)
if you follow second guide you have to know that after unlocking bootloader it will ask you for factory reset

[Q] downgrade from hboot 1.29 to 1.18?

Hey everyone,
I have a Htc Sensation XE, with ICS (original rom) and i want to s off and root it, but the hboot is a 1.29 so the revolutionary way does not work, i know that there is a new way, the Juopunutbear one, but its seems a little hard, and to be honest i'm afraid to brick my phone, so can i just downgrade the phone ? flash any GB stock rom and use the revolutionary way to s off and root it ? if yes, how i'll do it ?
Thank you, and sorry for my bad english.

i think if you downgrade your hboot version you will brick your device
instead of juopunutbear method you can do htcdev unlock method to unlock the bootloader and then root the device
and if a flash a RUU rom, a GB one, and then do the s off and root thing with the best method i know, the revolutionary one ^^

i don't know if you can do that when you are in completely stock situation
wait for someone else to confirm it
if yes then you can do that procedure
You can't flash gb ruu, if you aren't s-off, or if you don't have supercid. Try the juopuntuBeats, is very easy and no problem. If you try it 4-5 times before running the program you can do it very fast.
EDIT: you can't brick your phone, if you do all the things that is required!!! First of all unlock the bootloader, with the htc WEB SITE and then install a recovery with the sensation toolkit and then install ROOT. Finish if you want to s-off you have to do the juopuntubear if no, you can flash rom with s-on but only with 4ext recovery
ok ok, thank you very much my friends, you have been a great advise, thank you once again.
No problem, bu remember do it slowly and keep calm

Try the juopunutbear method without htcdev unlock so you won't break your warranty! If you follow the instructions well, nothing will happen to your phone and it's not as tricky as you think

Nothin will happen, just S-OFF. Don't worry it works fine, when i do it first time i got success on the 4th try, now i can catch timing on the first attempt...so like other things it just depends on practice..
