[Q] Windows Phone 7.5 sync program - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I would like to ask if there is similar syncing software for WP 7.5, like MyPhoneExplorer on Android, or Nokia PC suite (older version) for symbian in Nokia phones.
I have Lumia 610 and I don't want to sync my contacts with outlook.
Thanks for reply.

Windows XP / Lotus Notes @ work, Vista / Windows Mail @ home. Sync?

Sorry for the long title, it was the best I could come up with.
First, the facts:
My work PC uses Windows XP and Lotus Notes 6.5.
My home computer is Vista Business, Outlook is NOT installed.
My phone is (well, will be, when it arrives) a Cingular 8125/HTC Wizard. From what I can gather on the forums, I have the option of running WM5 or WM6.
I only care about syncing my contacts and calendar, email is of no concern.
My questions are:
Is it possible to sync contacts and calendar info in the above scenario? From a few posts I read here and elsewhere, it seems you need to install Outlook in order to sync to Vista.
If this is possible, what mix of software will allow this?
I support I'd prefer WM6 for my device, but for no real reason other than being "the latest". Would I be better served sticking to WM5?
If I *have* to install Outlook at home to get this working, what version would be best? Would Outlook 2007 be able to import my existing rules/filters, messages, etc?
Am I missing anything else?
Thanks!
-Brett.

I have done some searching and I'm familiar with Easysync Pro. I'm running an older version now for my Pocket PC 2002 PDA now. (v4.22). The latest version has the following requirements...
Supported mobile devices:
Microsoft Pocket PC 2000 / 2002 / 2003 / Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PC devices (ActiveSync)
Looks like it's not ready for WM6?

Do you have any personal experience with this?
I checked out the vendor's site and it looks promising:
Compatible Devices:
...- Windows Mobile 5 & 6
However:
Works with applications:
- Microsoft Outlook 98, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2007
- Lotus Notes R5, 6.0, 6.5, 7.0
- Novell Groupwise 6.5 SP2/7.0
- Lotus Organizer 5.0, 6.0, 6.1
- ACT! 2000, 5.0, 6.0
Looks like I'd have to install Outlook at home. Not a huge deal, but Windows Mail is working fine for us.
Thanks,
-Brett.
There might be a simpler solution: try one (or more) of the online syncing services. Many are free, some have paid adds-ons that are even more useful, and best - no extra software to install.
I haven't tried them myself yet -- but planning to do so soon -- but I want try mobical.net, zyb.com, and plaxo.com (in that order).
If anyone has links to good, informative reviews to these 3 services, I'm eager to see them.
"Do you have any personal experience with this?"
nop just did the search dont have any exp with notes
EasySync Pro is working well for WM6.
fyi .. I am using Atom Exec. Windows XP with Lotus Notes 7.0 and EasySync 4.2.4
IBM / Lotus have recently released EasySync 4.2.5 - but you have to pay for it...
Pity I didn't find that out before my Kaiser arrived today!

Sync Nokia Phone and XDA?

Hi!
I have a Nokia 6230i phone and a O2 XDA Orbit (=HTC Artemis), and I will use them both, so it would be great if I could sync my contacts, calendar and tasks between them. I know I could do it via Outlook, Active Sync and Nokia PC suite, but I am looking for a solution that does not involve Outlook (best would be to not involve any PC software, since i am currently considering a migration from Windows XP to Linux..).
I was looking into SyncML a bit, but I don't see the point in syncing my phones via Internet (and paying for it everytime), as they both have Bluetooth integrated. Is there any software like a SyncML-Server for WM5/6, or something like Mobile Master / Nokia PC Suite that runs on the XDA and can sync with my nokia phone?
Thanks!
btw, this forum is great. Learned a lot from here, and found many many useful tools and workarounds to make my XDA even more perfect!

Migrating from WM6 to Symbian...

I'm thinking of trying symbian platform.. Nokia E61i to be specific. Can anyone suggest any painfree way to transfer all my PIM data to the Nokia?
Thanks..

transfer from what?
btw my bet would be maybe through outlook but i'm not sure if symbian supports that
Nokia!?!??
Loll.. well some newer Nokia models have very good .. almost pda like features. Plus they are excellent in multimedia, fast firmware, and nokia e61i is a blackberry-ish device.But the biggest hurdle is all my contacts, appointments, tasks, etc. etc... meaning, how to transfer them from my jamin to a symbian device?
I had a e61 before my i780 - if you use Outlook, forget it - it will drive you nuts - symbian doesn't synch things like categories and is much poorer for PIM.
Yes it will synch with outlook but in a crippled manner.
Use Outlook 2003
Simply sync with Outlook 2003 and then use the Nokia PC Suit to sync again with your symbian. Alternatively you can use Yahoo GO to sync online. Use Yahoo GO on your symbian too...
I Love Symbian Phones....
My Sony Ericsson P990 sync'd with Outlook way quicker and more reliably than any WM device I have used. Sony Ericsson's equivalent to activesync is also much better than Activesync in my opinion because you can turn it off when not using it.

My experience as well. I have never gotten even one duplicate entry using SE's PC Suite. And you can check the report to see exactly what was synced. The only thing missing is the ability to sync notes with jotted drawings.
Thanks a lot for all the help guys.. so synching with outlook would take care of contacts, tasks and appointments?? What about smses.. ? I don't think outlook would do that, would it?

I don't think there's an option for synching SMS; wish there was, I've got a few thousand on my Dual.
I was just searching for something to transfer SMS from WM to Nokia and I found this:
http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/t5/PC-and-Mac-Software/Migrating-from-Windows-Mobile-to-Nokia/td-p/747754
For exporting the messages to csv, I used the freeware PIM Backup (http://www.dotfred.net/). This software archives your messages (and lots of other stuff) to a PIB-file on the mobile device. I copied the file to my PC, renamed to .zip and unpacked the contained files. One of them is called msgs_*.csm - this is a csv-file that holds all the messages of the WinMo device. Problem is: the format is totally different from what PC suite expects. Here is a litte Perl-script that does the conversion:
#!/usr/bin/perl
use Encode qw/encode decode/;
@na=(0,"Inbox","Outbox","SentItems","DeletedItems","Drafts");
read STDIN, $i, 2;
while (read(STDIN, $i, 4096)) {$s.=decode("UCS-2LE", $i);}
@a=split(/(?<=\")\r\n/,$s);
@idx=();$i=0;
for(split(/;/,shift(@a))) { $idx{$_}=$i++;}
for (@a) {
$_ or next;
@b=split /(?<!\\);/;
$b[$idx{"Account"}] ne '"SMS"' and next;
($f=$b[$idx{"Folder"}])=~s/^\"\\\\%MDF(\d)\"$/$1/;
($sa=$b[$idx{"Sender Address"}])=~s/^.*?<?([\+0-9]+)>?.*$/"$1"/;
$rc='"'.(split(/\\;/,$b[$idx{"Recipients"}]))[2].'"';
@t=split(/,/,$b[$idx{"Modify Time"}]);
($su=encode("UTF-8", $b[$idx{"Subject"}]))=~s/\r?\n/ /g;
$s="sms;".(($f==1||$f==4)?"deliver":"submit").";".(($f==1||$f==4)?"$sa;\"\"":"\"\";$rc").
";\"\";\"$t[0].$t[1].$t[2] $t[3]:$t[4]\";\"\";$su\r\n";
if (!fileno("FD$f")) {open "FD$f",">",$na[$f].".csv";}
syswrite "FD$f", $s, length($s);
I havent tried it as i dont know how to use pearl script....
Can any one here explain in detail about how to use it.....
It might be helpful to many.......
